Terrible Execution...
22 March 2023
Oh dear Pooh... What happened to you and your (beloved) kid-friendly franchise...

At first, when the movie was announced, I was pretty surprised to see how a supposedly kid-friendly franchise like Pooh, being turned into something animalistis and sadistic like this? But again, I'm always a positive person and will always welcome a new idea.

So, when the trailer first hit the internet, I saw it and kinda liked the idea to a point where I was pretty excited to see the outcome. But upon watching it, I finally realized that I've wasted 86 minutes of my life for a movie that's badly produced.

Don't get me wrong, this movie actually has potential if executed properly. Gory and slasher movies still have great values, as long as it's executed nicely. Sadly, that's not the case with this one. Bad direction, bad lighting, bad script, bad story, bad acting, bad costume. Nothing good can be said about this one. Oh wait.. maybe one good thing is there: the killing and the gore.

Things I really hated about the movie is mainly on the following:

1. Actors and actresses who was pretty bland on the acting... 2. Terrible and inconsistent dialogue (10 minutes into the movie and I already felt like wanted to stop watching it because of the dialogue...) 3. Story which is under-developed 4. Bad costumes... (I mean, come on. In this era, where you can create a believable monster like Kingkong and Godzilla, but yet, the creatures just looked like over-juiced villain cosplaying as Pooh and Piglet, while going all Jason-esque style murder spree?)

I'm sorry, but I really don't recommend it, unless you really have lots of free time to spare and don't mind your childhood lovable-stories got butchered and turned upside down into full gore-style killing spree genre.

I still give it 3 stars out of 10, because I want to at least appreciate the idea, which again, is sadly, badly executed.

Reboot and You Somehow "Killed" It...
26 December 2021
For starter, I'm one of those Resident Evil fanatics that would consider myself as someone who really will try my best to love any kind of Resident Evil related stuff (be it the comics, games and/or movies), you name it. So far, I've tried to accept every Resident Evil movies ever made and actually am able to live by and accepted the craziness in it, no matter how silly it turns out (I'm looking at your Resident Evil, dear Ms. Jovovich).

So when the news came out, saying that Resident Evil will receive a big reboot, unrelated to the Ms. Jovovich era, I was hyped. And the hype was even much, much higher when I heard that this time around, the director was promising a more frightening take, closer to the source (the game).

Now the movie is out, and I have to admit... it's kinda disappointing. Yes, the director is doing his best to make this movie as close as possible to the game (design-wise) and while some of the end-result do look the same as the game, the overall result is (again) very disappointing. If only they didn't rush the production and try to take their time instead, I really think this movie will become a blockbuster despite some of the casting choice.

Let's start reviewing some of the things in this movie then.

Firstly, the casting. Overall, we should really give the actors and actresses some credits as they are doing a wonderful job, though some of them are clearly underused if you want to compare it with the game. And I'm also a bit confused to some of the backstory of the characters in it. While some can be accepted, but one particular character received a very... disappointing background story to begin with. Why the writers decided to give this one a hallowing story is really a big question-mark for me...

Secondly, the plot. Combining two Resident Evil stories into one movie and with only less than 2 hours to tell the whole story? This is where my opinion about they shouldn't rush, came in. Yes, the monsters design are quite creepy (and their origin is actually acceptable for me), but the director is rushing it so much, the movie starting to lack (big time) in the fear-department. Not to mention, some of the more important monsters were too easy to defeat, making it not even a tad bit scary or tense.

While easter-eggs were put-in all over the place, the director turn this movie into one hell of a roller-coaster of a disappointment. Overall, Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon City felt like a movie where you're invited to view all sort of easter-eggs, and the director forgot the fact that he is supposed to direct a scary movie instead of a big carnival of easter-eggs...

I'm still giving it 5 out of 10 though, because who doesn't love a good easter-eggs movie?

Expected Too High, Ended Up Disappointed Instead
18 October 2018
Warning: Spoilers
First of all, I'm also one of the big fans of the "Goosebumps" novel out there. I basically grew up with it and these novel's have accompanied most of my childhood with cheesy (though there's a couple scary one too) stories written by R.L. Stine. So when I heard that Goosebumps will be resurrected to the big screen, I was super enthusiastic with this news.

The first Goosebumps from 2015, that's a much better quality movie and I totally love it (still do until now), though there's still room for improvement. With the great result from the first one in mind and also a hope that the sequel would be much, much better, I watched the 2nd one tonight...

...and I ended up DISAPPOINTED!!!

First, since we're talking about Goosebumps in general, this movie surely lack the element of surprise. And by surprises, I'm not saying the cheesy jump scare where you practically can see it coming from miles away, but more about the sudden appearances of certain monsters or creatures that made Goosebumps novels such a hit back then. In here, those creatures just appear TOGETHER! Are you making a halloween movie or a brawling movie, dear director???

Second, the main characters. Goosebumps 2 is really lacking the development and backstory of each characters here. It's like, you're suddenly presented with some random characters, give them some dreams and wishes, then throw them in into the story (imagine Interactive story book where you're presented with options in each pages) just as pawns of the sort to go through this scary town and experience the thrill. Oh, and you know what? The cameo doesn't help also!

Third, what the hell with the main villain? Yes, I know that "THAT GUY" is by far the most menacing of all. He got the brain, the power and even the magic in him. But why turn him into a super cheesy villain where his evilness is only to "hosed" people or make some things alive? Honestly, even though "THAT GUY" is around, but I couldn't sense the threat and evil in there... His intentions are like those coming out of children's story book.

Fourth, even though some of the special effects are great, but honestly speaking, it's not that great. In an era where movie producers can already create devastating tsunami coming, or earth cracking and splitting, or the epic fight between kingkong and T-Rex or dinosaurs roaming around earth without much problem, most the ghosts and ghouls of Goosebumps 2 really just looks like people cosplaying around while bullying the neighborhood to make a chaos (is that even a chaos?)

All in all, I'm honestly disappointed in this sequel. Feels like the director doesn't understand what makes the Goosebumps novel such a hit back there. Feels like, they are treating Goosebumps franchise as an easy money-milking property only...

I can only hope that the next sequel (if any) will be much better and darker in tone...

Suicide Squad (2016)
7/10
Unbalanced, Yet Entertaining
6 August 2016
Warning: Spoilers
First of all, let me state this very clearly. I'm not DC fanboy nor Marvel fanboy. What I stated in my review is just a personal opinion from years of watching both DC and Marvel movies.

Now, let me first stated this. Suicide Squad has the potential to become a good movie, if only the director put more time on the production and not rush things. Unfortunately, it's the opposite that happened. The unpolished gem with lots of potential in it, has been wrongly polished into a flawed gem. For me, below is the main weaknesses of the movie: 1. Plot that was too thin, shallow and dense. I might say, it's just too dense and too random for me. There's not enough background story to actually support the movie. Sure there's a bit of explanation along the way, but that still doesn't help much, given how little information they give us so far.

2. Dialogues that don't make sense. For this one, I have to highlight the reasoning that were uttered by the outlaws. The reasoning seems unbelievably shallow and the action afterward also doesn't make sense. Another reason why the director should have taken his time to develop the story.

3. Overshadowed members of Suicide Squad. Given the name as a squad, you should at least tell the tale in a fair manner and fair portion, right? But throughout the movie, seems to me, only Deadshot and Harley Quinn get the spotlight. Meanwhile, the rest of the crew (Croc, Boomerang, El Diablo, Slipknot and Katana) were only there to make the actions more interesting. Too bad really.

4. Unnecessary appearance. Talking about this point, bring us to the appearance of Jared Leto as Joker. Sure, all fans have been waiting to see how Leto perform as Joker. While I'm pretty happy with his performance in Suicide Squad, I failed to see the significance of his appearance in the movie. Personally, I think even without Joker showing up, the movie could still progress smoothly.

5. Inspiration that came too late. I admit, this one point is a bit random, but I got my reason. Throughout the movie, I saw some resemblance with Marvel's story telling. In this case, I'm going to compare Suicide Squad with Guardians of the Galaxy which also consists of former outlaws and also used lots of classic songs and some dark humor.

Now, of course it's not fair if I'm only telling about the negative points. Let's see the positive points:

1. Will Smith and Margot Robby. Ironically, one of the down side of the movie, also serve as the savior for Suicide Squad. Both of these marvelous actor and actress are doing really good and (David) Ayer was lucky that these two can carry the flow of the story.

2. Non-Stop Actions. Without this point, Suicide Squad will turn into a very boring movie. Lucky for Ayer, this one point also managed to save the somewhat standard story out of the dark hole it almost fell into. Not the best one, but definitely enjoyable.

3. Jared Leto as Joker. While I lament the unnecessary appearance of Joker in the movie, I'm actually relieved to see that Leto has shown yet another interesting version of Joker. Leto's version in this one was shown as someone psychotic crazy and yet charming. Of course we can't just compare his appearance in this one to those of Heath Ledger's just yet, as Leto's total screen time is probably not more than 8-10 minutes. It's actually interesting to see what kind of Joker will come out later on to make Batman's life a living hell.

All in all, even though it's dense and shallow, but truth be told, it's still quite interesting to watch the action. At least the action is quite good (though some of it are unbelievable) and both Will Smith and Margot Robby have performed wonderfully as Deadshot and Harley Quinn.

If you're looking for a movie with complex and dark story, than this is definitely not for you. But if you're the type that can go easy on the movie and just enjoy what you see, you will not regret watching it. I give it 7/10.

Dragon Blade (2015)
10/10
Epic War and Heartwarming Story
22 February 2015
Warning: Spoilers
Probably to almost anyone, seeing the trailer of Dragon Blade for a couple of times might piqued your interest, especially when you see a couple of A-list actors and actresses in it. Most notably are Jackie Chan, John Cusack, Adrien Brody and Choi Si Won (one of ex-member from K-Pop band, Super Junior).

While most of the review I've seen here is pretty much saying this one is an utter disappointment, I for myself personally don't think so.

To me, Jackie Chan along with Daniel Lee has managed to pull this out quite remarkably. Their choices for the actors are good, because each one of 'em could play the role nicely. They could get into their role so deep, you would think they were re-enacting a piece of story from their personal life.

Maybe there is a couple of flaws here and there, like the ruin in the very beginning of the show that's not old enough and for another keen eyes, this might kill the mood, because basically, we were promised a story that (might) happened thousand years ago. But truth be told, it was not really a problem, since the ruin itself is just a fake one, created to fit into the real story of Silk Road.

Story-wise, some of you might find it cheesy and predictable. Some of you might even say that the character Chan played (Huo An), was unbelievably too kind, like he was just character from a fairytale. Is it really like that? If you follow the story and try to delve into the character of Huo An, to every tragedy ever happened to him (told in the story), you might understand why he always talk about peace.

Or maybe how Cusack was not cut out for the role of Roman Empire general, Lucius? Don't think so. He actually played the role real good, he could showed how it feels to be betrayed, to hate and to trust. Brody as the villain Tiberius, has also done a very great job. You could see his character in a whole new way, the way he lust for power and ambitions. The twisted way of a mad man ready to betray (and kill, as already told in the trailer) his own family.

How about the fight and the war scenes or any other details? I won't go into more detail about those topics and it's best if you go watch it yourself. You should, because as predictable as it was, the morale of the story is very touching and heartwarming.

It's true, peace between races and nations might be a naive topic these days, but I honestly think, it is actually very nice. I think, this is how Chan convey his own ideal to the real world, about how all nations should be united and not be in conflict with each other.

All in all, I give this movie 10/10. A must watch!

Sex Tape (2014)
5/10
Different Representation of Morale, but Bland...
9 October 2014
Graduating from How I Met Your Mother, Jason Segel tried to make one (hopefully) successful movie called Sex Tape, together with Cameron Diaz, the babe from Charlie's Angels.

So what was my verdict on this? I would say so-so to less than ordinary movie. At first, I was gonna rate it 4/10, but something in Sex Tape change my verdict.

The acting is not that good. Jason Segel still delivered the cheesy acts that were only intended for a serial television movie. While for Diaz, well she should be able to do better with her act, though we must admit, there's little to none 'better-act' in this kind of comedy-flick.

But one thing I did praise from this movie is the morale itself. Jack Black, although not credited, delivered the message clearly. If there's a quick and easy solution to lift up your life, then it's (probably) only just a temporary solution with bigger problem that got left behind and went unresolved. It's actually a pretty straightforward hit for anyone with family and perhaps it could actually open up your eyes and heart.

So, for the message of life from Jack Black, I would consider upped my rating to 5/10. At least there's still an important message for all family that's already on the verge of going bland for their whole life.

Annabelle (I) (2014)
5/10
Over-hyped!
5 October 2014
Warning: Spoilers
The hype of Annabelle, the doll, started up when it showed up in The Conjuring for a couple of seconds long, a way for the director to say, "we're gonna make a movie about the doll." And in just a year time, more or less, we got the movie, Annabelle, acting as a prequel to The Conjuring.

So, maybe people would put their hopes up because The Conjuring was actually a success. And besides, we're talking about a possessed and really creepy doll. It should be good too, just like The Conjuring, right? Well, as much as I wanted to say that Annabelle is good, the truth is, it's just a mediocre horror movie, delivered to drive the curiosity in all horror movie-goers up, which for me is not that successful.

It all started with a collection set creepy doll (later on named Annabelle), was possessed with a supernatural power that was disturbing. From there, everything went awry, just like your typical horror-genre movie.

It's true, there's quite a lot of fear factor that can make you jump out of your seat at the time or even some scene that made you started to cover up your eyes in case something scary might jump at you. I have to say, PERHAPS, that's because people have watched The Conjuring and they expected the same thing to happen in Annabelle. For me, it's only that factor that actually makes me 'on-alert' with my hands.

Other than that, nothing. It's just your usual, day-to-day scary movie that will just go by and be forgotten, only to be remembered when you watch The Conjuring again. And MAYBE, just another speculation of mine, that's the reason why Annabelle was designed like that (the real Annabelle doll was just a Raggedy Ann), to make us remember Annabelle as shown in the movie. Just too bad, the director couldn't effectively make the best out of the creepy doll...

As for the script and actors + actresses, they are neither good nor bad. Just another so-so part from Annabelle that makes me rate the movie 5/10. Could be better.

The Right Kind of Exorcism
12 July 2014
It's been a while since I found a decent exorcism movie. I mean, some of the exorcism-theme movies I've watched is pretty decent if not too ordinary. Too similar with the process and the pace. So, when I see that Deliver Us From Evil has arrived, I too didn't really put up too much hope. I thought this is just another typical exorcism movie.

You see, most of the exorcism will always start with the same process. Some devil possessing a child (or someone), (usually) the parents got distracted over the fact and try to find a way to rid the devil. A priest got the information and try to help exorcise the demon. The priest done it successfully (or so he thought) only to find that the demon hasn't really left the child. The priest then try to find a much more experienced priest to help him and finally able to rid the devil for good, but with the cost of someone's life. That's pretty much how all exorcism related movie goes.

But not with this one. I'm actually pretty hyped up after watching it!!! The acting is great, the pace is good and basically got a different presentation to make this into a not boring "typical-exorcism" movie. It actually makes you yearn for more information, dragging your heighten-interest along the way and keeps up the momentum to finally gave you a shocking horror, straight to your face.

I dare gave it 8/10 for Deliver Us From Evil.

Rage (2014)

Not Really Enjoyable, Barely Acceptable
6 July 2014
Warning: Spoilers
Well, as a big fans of Nic Cage, I sure feel like he's been showered with bad luck. The last time I saw his movie and felt a trickle of excitement, was National Treasure 2.

So what went wrong with Tokarev? First of all, the dialog. Dialog was pretty much boring. There are some moment when Cage was trying to gave an impression and ended up silly. It looks like Cage was trying to deliver a mind blowing - one sentence - bad ass kind of pep-talk, but ended up uninspiring. Also, too much boring conversation that made me actually fell asleep during some part of the movie.

Second, the acting. Well, maybe the acting is okay, but still not good enough. Too many cheesy acts that actually don't fit in this movie. For a movie that was supposed to fill with action, this one got less than what I personally hope for.

Third and the last, the scenario. You got some twisted story, you got some gang-related rivalry and you got some revenge story. But the way Tokarev was brought to us, well, it's definitely boring. Perhaps with a little touch from other more experienced director, Tokarev could be a better movie.

Conclusion: Using Cage as the star in this movie definitely didn't help at all. Tokarev was just your average television drama that doesn't worth bringing up to the big screen... But I still go with 5/10 for the twisted storyline.

Can't Say How Much I Love This One
17 August 2010
So, here I am. Amaze at how well this movie was being done and filled with the most crucial and the most influenced hardcore Hollywood actor I ever seen. Starting from Stallone, Statham, Jet Li, Rourke, Dolph Lundgren, Couture, Rourke and Bruce Willis with Arnie in it.

Well, I should be frank that I've always dream about a movie where every single well known actor in martial arts will act in one same movie. And Stallone bring me and every single person who has the same thought with me just that.

I really enjoyed every single minute in this movie and to tell the truth, I've never been so psyched about this one. After I came out from the movie, I immediately called every person I know in the world to just watch this. You could find almost every single element of an action movie in this one. From one by one brawl, explosion here and there and even a little bit drama and a little bit funny moment to ease the tension that have been built from the first minute this movie started.

Trust me, this movie worth every penny and I will suggest for everyone that has been a little bit pessimistic with the movie, to just watch for yourself. I know you will love it.

I definitely rate it 10/10. Won't miss the sequel and of course the Blu-Ray for this.

Heart Wrenching...
6 March 2010
The first time I know about dog's movie, it was always Lassie. That's the best dog movie I've ever watch.

But now, that opinion will change for there's another one that have the same vibe and emotional in some ways. That's Hachiko: A Dog's Story.

Now, for all of you who likes Japanese culture, you should probably know about the real story of Hachi, the dog. And right here, at this very movie, you will encounter yet again the depiction of those time back there with Richard Gere as the main lead. So, you want to feel the feeling? Go ahead and watch it. You won't regret it.

I couldn't say anything about this movie, except that this one is really a story that can really bring tears to your eyes. That's what happens to me right after I watch it and even better. The emotional feeling, the sentiment atmosphere in this movie, it's really marvelous.

The dog is well trained and Richard Gere has proved himself again as a great actor out there. You dog lovers should watch this one.

And remember to prepare a lot of tissue to stop your tear running down from your eyes.

Great movies. I rate it 10/10

Old Dogs (I) (2009)
10/10
It Doesn't Deserve The Word "Bad"
11 December 2009
First and foremost, for anybody who read my review and wanted to say that I'm a total idiot for loving this one, than forgive me for my love to this movie.

Old Dogs is a movie of a family comedy genre, so anyone that wanted to have a bad joke or rude joke just like the ones in Tropic Thunder, than this one is definitely not for you. It got a very good family atmosphere and this is definitely the one for them who values family the most.

When I see this movie, all I have to think is, how they portrayed some problem in human's life greatly and they (Travolta and Williams) did a great job here. They could portrayed all of that problem and mix it with ridiculous jokes that's not harmful to the young generation who watch this.

So why the bad review? If you want to watch a crude joke about life, watch American Pie or anything of some sort. This movie is only watchable for them with open mind and could accept it as something that we could learn from. Do you know that a lot of movies were inspired by a true story from human's life? It could be yours, it could be mine, it could be anyone's. So respect it and watch it. It's a very good family movie.

My rating would be 10/10

Another Great Story
11 September 2009
When I first know about the story, I'm really excited to watch this one. Imagine, a world where all kamen raider that ever existed, fight with each other and eventually lead to the destruction of themselves by an individual called Kamen Raider Decade.

Well, I must admit that I really like the story. Although I'm a little bit confused by Decade's design (which I thought to be the most ridiculous and the weirdest I've ever seen), it's still OK.

So, I guess this is another movie that's quite entertaining to see. A lot of Kamen Raider (actually, all of the new generation Kamen Raider and a few addition) will make an appearance here and you will be quite surprise about what you'll find here, because I do.

A twisted plot, mixed world, mixed heroes and mixed villains; all of them have become something that's worth watching. Try and watch it.

Orphan (2009)
9/10
Don't Judge a Book by It's Cover
26 August 2009
Did those line of words make sense? In the real life, it is. And so do Orphan.

When I first watch the trailer, just like most of the movie-goers here, I assumed that this movie is just about another evil born kid and bla bla bla. You know, the usual plot stories. With the opening (of the movie) like that, one would be so sure of themselves that this is one horror movie.

But guess what? It wasn't. I enter the theater with a great hope that I will see something scary. But somehow, that hope was thrashed. Along the way, another kind of satisfaction came to replace my disappointment. This is not just another boring and bad movie. It got a lot of surprise and twisted stories. Believe me.

I think, for most of the thriller fans will find this movie amusing and entertaining. Just like myself. At least, I would give this movie 9/10.

Great one. You really have to watch it.

Stray Out of the Original Story
9 October 2008
Three kingdom: Resurrection of the Dragon tells about the legend of one famous General Zhao Yun in the Three Kingdom. But unfortunately, there are many flaws in this movie.

First, this movie is a little bit off from the actual history. I never knew that Zhao Yun started his first career as a soldier directly under Liu Bei. He should been under a general name Gongsun Zan, before he changed his loyalty to Liu Bei. Then, there are Cao Ying and Luo Ping-An. Who the hell are they? Because as far as I know, the one who fought Zhao Yun in the last battle was Chao Zhen.

Secondly, for the actor. I personally think that Andy Lau is well-suited as General Zhao Yun here. But the actor for both General Guan Yu and Zhang-Fei is a little bit out of the course. While the actor who casted as Guan Yu seems too old, the actor's face who cast as Zhang Fei seems so childish. And the actor who played as Zhuge Liang looks like a traditional physician instead of a strategist. Generally, I would say, the casting is a minus here (except for Andy Lau, of course) For the story, it lacks explanation. There's no explanation for any act inside. No briefing before wars, no strategy meeting before wars, no nothing. It just give off the conclusion of what is happening right now, and lead us directly into the war. That's all. And that too, is a minus.

But still, I like the war in this. That's why I still give this movie a rating of 6, instead of 5.

Not good enough for all three kingdom fans. But if you're looking for just a war movies, than this is definitely for you.

Pretty Good Movie
19 August 2008
Just got out from the theater and watched this movie. Feeling satisfied but yet, there is a little something that felt wrong at the same time.

Well, I have to say, this movie still got it's magic on it. The words "mummy" definitely has it's own vibe.

The storyline start pretty much the same as usual, where an emperor who wants to have everything in the world for him, and felt that life itself is too short to have it all. And so, begin the stories of the mummy: tomb of the dragon emperor.

And for the casting, I have to say that this time, the producer made 2 biggest mistake ever. And that is, by replacing the actress Rachel Weisz with Maria Bello, and put up Luke Ford as Alex. Because to my opinion (I'm sure, every people who have watched the previous two, will feel that something is a little bit "off" with the replacement of the main actor and actress), Maria Bello's acting has no charm to it (somehow felt dense) compared to Rachel Weisz, and Luke Ford is too old to be the son of Rick O'Connell.

But still, it's worth watching. The action, the CG and the special effect, plus the charming Rick O'Connell's action (mix up with comedy), made it a good movie. And don't forget the other main actors in here. Yup, that's the main enemy, Jet Lee and the witch, Michelle Yeoh. The only minus here, is the replacement of Rachel Weisz and the actor Luke Ford who is acting as Rick's son. That's all.

So all in all, I want to say, watch it. Even if you are not happy with the replacement of Rachel Weisz, watch it. If you felt that China is not very suitable to be turned into a mummy case, then watch it just for fun. Remember, movies are just for fun, especially this kind of movie. This is not a history or documented movie. It's just a movie filled with fun and all wild imagination from a human being.

I rate it 8/10.

Another Entertaining Series
7 June 2008
Just began watching this show a few days ago, and I've to say, this show is really impressive.

It introduce yet again another new set of genre twisted in a somehow, resembled to Power Rangers saga.

If in power rangers series you got all these bleak, dark, and only a little to laugh about, all action involving the rangers tried to kick some bad guys' ass, prevent the bad guys from taking over the earth, and all of that same scheme all the time, than, Madan Senki Ryukendo would be different. The show mix up the genre pretty nice. The action, drama (just a little bit though), and comedy.

Although the story is still the same as usual (try to prevent the bad guys from running havoc on Earth), but the fact that they delivered the story with comedy inside this, must be considered. And guess what. They actually created a whole new genre for this movie. An action comedy tokusatsu (about 50:50 in comparison), that can bring you to laugh your guts out.

The actors and actresses are all hilarious. Not just the good guys, but also the bad guys got their own sense of humor.

Iron Man (2008)
10/10
Unexpectedly Great Movie
3 May 2008
Warning: Spoilers
Back at the time, when I was small, I remember playing one of my favorite games ever, the marvel super heroes fighting game, and I usually use IronMan and SpiderMan as my team. They're as marvelous as ever. But still, as everyone know, IronMan is not as popular as Spiderman, or Wolverine, or any other super heroes character.

And here we are, watching one of the Marvel super heroes character being made into a movie, and I have to say, it turns out real great. Too great perhaps, thinking that this is one of the not-so-popular super heroes.

The story itself is about a millionaire (Tony Stark a.k.a Iron Man), who is an expert in building weapons for dealing (or people called it, weapon manufacturer). He is a genius one, I told you. And I will say, that he is a rather unique...

And the story about Iron Man, begin, when Stark was held captive by a group of terrorist, and in that event, he sees something, that make him realize, that what he's done this whole time, was not just for peace, but rather for war that ended up in taking a lot of casualties. After he realizes that, he then try to develop an armor suit (and later on, will be recognize as the Iron Man), and used it to do some protecting work for the people who suffer because of weapons (especially in this case, his own weapons, his own products) The story is well developed, and all of the actors and actresses are great. The visual effect is just like the mini version of transformer, although not as complicated as the transformer, but still a magnificent one.

A nice movie for kids, adults, and all super hero freaks. It got the action, drama, comedy, and some awesome fighting scene.

I rate it 10/10.

Great Show, but Not Good Enough
22 April 2008
I just watched D-War on DVD, and I have to say, I'm quite impressed with how Korean managed to produced such a movie. The effect is very promising, the dragons, and the minions look pretty convincing and menacing and threatening. The good dragon was also a plus in this movie. But that's all I can praise from this movie.

Yup. You heard me right. The only thing that I see as a plus in this movie, is the graphic and the special effect. Every tiny little bit of the effect is very good. The dragons look real enough for me. And how every destruction, explosion, and the way the dragon pass through every road, and the damage it caused, everything related to graphic and special effect is a plus.

As for the story, it's just so-so. Not really good, but it's not that bad either. For the act, I have to say, it's not so good. The dialogues is kinda awkward. Everything they say just seem so, unnatural. You will know what I mean if you see it and hear it yourself.

It's a recommendation for those who loves special effect and graphic and don't care about the story. But it's not a good recommendation for those who cares a lot about the story.

I rate it 6/10

Awesome, Brilliant, Fantastic, Perfect, Flawless, You name it
19 April 2008
No spoken word can be used to describe this movie. And if there is, it would be the kind like awesome, brilliant, fantastic, and all words with the same meaning as the words I've just mentioned above. Or perhaps, the perfect way to describe this movie, is the combination of all the above words.

As we all know, we've longed for both of them (Jackie Chan and Jet Lee) to act together in a movie. And "The Forbidden Kingdom" just made it all come true.

We can see all those we've been waiting to see. To see them act together, and have a spar together, and fight together as well. Every minutes of this movie, is a joy to behold. There is no flaw at all in this movie. Beautifully directed, beautiful scenery, great fight (or spar) between Jackie Chan and Jet Lee (one of the most wanted scene in all decade), awesome battle between the good and evil, and awesome story, plus a very good humor along the way.

All of the actors and actresses in The Forbidden Kingdom were well chosen, and the result is this movie. The Forbidden Kingdom.

Trust me, it's really worth your time and money to watch it over and over again, and it's even worth buying the DVD for collection.

Hopefully, in the near future, we can see yet again, the collaboration between Jackie Chan and Jet Lee.

Awesome movie. I rate it 20/10 ^^v

Nicely Done For an Ultraman Series
13 April 2008
I am one of the fans of the recent ultraman series, and I have been getting my self really excited about this whole brand new series of Ultraman Nexus.

And guess what? My Excitement really paid off. This series is really awesome. The whole story is much more complicated than the original ultraman, which just focus the story into defeating monsters saga, and protect the humankind from monsters. Wanna know why? You guys better watch it and enjoy for yourself. It's an interesting movie after all.

Worth watching to my opinion.

I give it 10/10

Chouseishin Gransazer (2003–2004)

Good Sentai Show
18 February 2008
At first, I never thought there will be a show that can match the power rangers show (and other similar one). But gransazer gives me a different idea about that.

The story is well executed, the robots are awesome, and there is a lot of surprise waiting for us to see in every episodes. Besides that, there is a love story involved in it. Not just earthlings, but also the aliens got themselves some stuff called love. This really is a movie that's worth watching.

Try to watch it, everybody. If you declared yourself as a sentai (robot based movie) lover or a mecha (Japanese word for robot)-lover, watch this one. You won't be disappointed.

I rate it, 10/10

Kamen Rider Den-O (2007–2008)

Excellent
18 February 2008
The latest kamen raider installation. And using a rather unique style too, where there is a train that can go through time. The purpose of this train, is to go through time and along the time, the purpose itself change into a new purpose where the kamen raider have to prevent the monster a.k.a imagine from running havoc and messing with someone's memory, since time is something that's very important and is not something to mess with.

But what makes it special, is the genre itself. It's not just some kind of serious, monster beating sentai. But also, got a very good and laughable comedy that you can laugh at. Very very good and enjoyable.

Try and see it. You will find yourself very pleased with the story.

I rate it, 10/10

The Game Plan (2007)
10/10
Never Say No
16 January 2008
Can't think up of something that can sum up this movie really well. Except that this movie is really a good one. One that is worth to watch, and is suitable for all age.

I must admit, that I'm not very sure about this movie at first. To tell the truth, I'm not even sure if this movie is worth watching or not. Because I saw The Rock in it, and said "The Rock act as a father in a drama family comedy movie? Not a chance it will be good!!" But once again, I was proved wrong. The Rock really got the acting skill for all genre.

The movie is about a man (The Rock) who is a very success and really well known for his skill as a quarterback, but somehow lonely. Until one day, a little girl arrive at his apartment door, and claim that she is his daughter. And then, things have gone a little different for the man, because suddenly, he has to adapt with the fact that he has already become a daddy.

As usual, I'm not going to spoil this one to anyone. All you gotta do, is watch it at the theater, or watch it from DVD. I'll let you all to have your own judgment for this one movie :D

Usually, I'm not the kind of guy who will easily shed tears over some drama movie. But something about The Rock's act made me wanted to. It felt so natural, and so touching at the same time. Game Plan really can make you cry. And I have to admit, there's a couple scenes that made me shed some tears. It's really a touching one and very heart warming family movie.

I really recommend Game Plan for everyone to watch. It's excellent. The Rock is actually fabulous, and his act is actually top notch.

I rate it 10/10

Entertaining Sequel of National Treasure
22 December 2007
So, here I am, Astonished at how amazing Jerry managed to direct an amazing movie like this one; how Nicholas Cage, Diane Kruger, Bartha, Voight, and Harris, act this one out, into a somehow very terrific movie, funny but tense, and yet, very entertaining, just like the first one.

National Treasure: Book of Secrets, talk about how Ben Gates try to prove that his ancestor's (Thomas Gates), is not the mastermind behind Lincoln's assassination.

And just like the first one, it's still filled with laughable, serious, and patriotic sense. Very very enjoyable.

Despite the fact, whether this book exist or not, it's still a very interesting thing to think about. But, don't overdo the thinking, since that can ruin the fun in this movie, and make you guys (the thinker) to question the purpose and whether it's the truth or not. And the next step would be, "It's the most ridiculous movie I've ever seen. Nothing makes sense" thought, and that will definitely ruin your excitement bout this movie, and hence, make your rating against this movie, goes down. Why bother about something that we don't know if it really exist or not, and even if it does exist, what business do you have with it? Hope my point is as clear as crystal clear.

So, here is my suggestion. Just enjoy the movie. Don't over think about whether it's the truth or not. Just watch how Ben solve the puzzle, and how they mastermind things, and along the way, laugh at Riley's "pure thought". You'll find it much more interesting that way than if you try to think too hard.

I personally rate this movie 10/10.
