As far as superhero films are concerned, the aura of the character is not just in the powers they possess but also in their appearance. The costume, therefore, is a key component that adds to the appeal of these icons from the comic book world. From Marvel’s Spider-Man to DC’s Superman, costume designers in Hollywood have pushed the envelope to bring out the nuances of these characters.

Designer James Acheson has proved that he is the authority in this regard, having designed Tobey Maguire’s 2002 suit for Spider-Man and Henry Cavill’s Man of Steel costume. While Zack Snyder’s chequered relationship with audiences restricted some fans from appreciating the modern Superman suit, the realization that both these outfits were designed by the same person, is making them look at these costumes in a new light.

One of the most anticipated anime series worldwide, One Punch Man has recently announced its much-awaited third season. The series released a trailer featuring the protagonist Saitama and the main villain of the series Garou. Also, the series has announced that Jc Staff Studio will handle the animation of the series.
One Punch Man Season 3
After its highly successful second season, the show went on an extremely long hiatus, leaving fans to wonder if they would ever see it again. Having animated Season 2, Jc Staff’s presence would likely polarize many fans after incorrect information circulated that Mappa will direct the series instead.
In addition, Jc Staff’s second-season animation drew a lot of criticism. Everyone is now waiting to see how season three turns out, as Jc Staff has not had much success in terms of animating series as almost all of their series in the past decade received mostly negative reviews.

The creators of the Pfizer BioNTech Covid-19 vaccine will take on cancer in National Geographic documentary “The Cancer Vaccine” (working title).
The documentary will follow Uğur Şahin and Özlem Türeci – the husband-and-wife team who built German biotechnology giant BioNTech – as they and their team race competitors, skeptics, governments and cancer itself to create an entirely new class of medicines that use the body’s own defenses to defeat cancer.
The documentary posits a world where a cancer diagnosis – even the most aggressive kind – no longer means brutal chemotherapy or a death sentence and a world where every individual cancer patient gets a bespoke drug, individually tailored to the unique genetics of their tumor, which could keep patients cancer-free for the rest of their lives. It aims to take viewers to the frontlines of breakthrough science alongside the scientists, researchers and patients at the heart of this endeavor.

National Geographic has announced a documentary special with the working title of “The Cancer Vaccine.”
The documentary special will follow Uğur Şahin and Özlem Türeci – the husband-and-wife team who built German biotechnology giant BioNTech and created the Pfizer BioNTech Covid Vaccine — as they compete in the race to find a cure for cancer.
The film will chronicle Şahin and Türeci’s creation of the Pfizer-BioNTech Covid vaccine, which came out of mRNA technology that, for years, had been considered useless. The couple has their own team, with whom they face competitors, skeptics, government officials and the disease itself. The solution may lie in using the body’s defenses to create medicine that can disarm the disease that has killed so many.
Early patient trials have yielded hopeful results, with half of those in BioNTech’s Phase 1 trial showing no sign of relapse after being treated for pancreatic cancer, which kills...

If there was ever an actor worthy of the distinction of "America's Sweetheart," it's Meg Ryan, who has been appearing in films since 1981. Effortlessly charming and with an often easygoing magnetism whenever she's on-screen, Ryan channels her natural talents effectively in romantic comedies and family-friendly fare. However, Ryan also possesses a much wider range than many give her credit for, delivering solid work in military dramas and character studies while occasionally branching out into hard science-fiction and fantasy.
Despite performing in dozens of film roles over the past 40-plus years, Ryan is one of her generation's more underrated actors. In fact, though millions of moviegoers adore her and her work, Ryan has yet to earn an Academy Award nomination of any kind. With that in mind, here are the 14 best Meg Ryan movies spanning her feature film career so far.

Pre-release jitters can get the best of anyone. Just ask Hugh Grant.
He had some trepidation about “Four Weddings and a Funeral,” his breakout movie, prior to its release. That’s according to his friend Sam Neill, who wrote in his upcoming memoir “Did I Ever Tell You This?” about some comments that Grant made before the film premiered, with a bit of his trademark British self-deprecation
“I had dinner in London with Hugh Grant soon after ‘Sirens,'” Neill wrote. “I asked him what he’d been up to. ‘Oh,’ he said, ‘a piece of complete crap called “Four Weddings and a Funeral.” … Disaster. Absolute and utter rubbish.'”
Neill, who starred alongside Grant in “Sirens” (1994) and “Restoration” (1995), that Grant’s career was in part thanks to the success of “Four Weddings,” directed by Mike Newell from a script by Richard Curtis.
And Grant concurs, telling IndieWire in a statement,...

All My Friends Hate Me (Andrew Gaynord)
Pete (Tom Stourton) hasn’t seen his university mates in years. Ten years to be exact. It happens. Life happens. We reach adulthood, mature, and set goals for ourselves that the people who were closest to us during that formidable period simply cannot follow—their own ambitions lie upon different forks in the road. So resentment shouldn’t factor in. Nor should jealousy. Yet Pete can’t help wondering about both. A little voice in the back of his head wonders if a decade was too long to pretend things could pick up where they left off. Would their very posh upbringing think he abandoned them to work with refugees? Do they think he thinks...

Leading production conglomerate Fremantle announced a new structure in Australia that will bring the development and production of all its entertainment, reality, and game show formats under the control of unscripted producer, Eureka Productions. Eureka is led by co-CEOs Chris Culvenor and Paul Franklin.
Fremantle Australia’s interim CEO, Greg Woods will take on the firm’s CEO role permanently and lead the other side of Fremantle’s Australian business. This will focus on the development and production of drama, documentaries, and factual-skewing programs.
The new structure follows Fremantle’s increased shareholding in Eureka last year and will see the label take on production of all Fremantle’s entertainment catalogue, including “Australia’s Got Talent,” “Australian Idol” and “Farmer Wants a Wife.”
It also follows the exit of Fremantle Asia Pacific CEO Chris Oliver-Taylor that was announced in December. Oliver-Taylor is set to join Netflix Anz as its head of physical production.

The much-welcomed news of Metrograph’s return could have been led by just one movie. A cornerstone of the repertory circuit with powers so intense it’s seamlessly become canon, Andrzej Żuławski’s Possession—for which words like “iconic,” even in our headline, don’t exactly do justice—has suffered but one problem: it often looks like shit.
Thus our excitement, nay elation, about Metrograph Pictures’ release of a 4K restoration. Elation only stoked further by their trailer, which in quick strokes suggests a vigorous, clean, but true-to-the-form job; this is not Possession as if seen through a motion-smoothed TV at Best Buy. And, okay, sure: circa-1981 Isabelle Adjani in the finest possible fidelity does a bit of legwork. Now to just hear those screams in a theater.

Getting over my grudge that one hasn’t really seen Flowers of Shanghai unless seen on an abjectly hideous all-region DVD taken from your college library, I can acknowledge a 4K restoration of Hou Hsiao-hsien’s masterpiece as essential beyond essential. A milestone in the most seminal of contemporary careers and (even in a fuzzy transfer) one of the most enveloping movies of its time, this is cinema for which neglecting of any sort simply will not stand.

Arrow might be over and done with, but its legacy lives on, and there’s ample opportunity for its characters to appear in the various other shows of the universe it spawned. The top scripts from Warner Bros, The Black List and Veerhuis Pictures’ second iteration of the Australian Scriptwriting Opportunity have been unveiled, with each of the writing teams now in consideration for a two-step blind feature film deal with WB.
This years “Aussie List” features 11 scripts rather than 10, given Maziar Lahooti, last year’s co-recipient of the blind deal, remarkably made it in again, this time as a solo writer.
More than 250 writing teams opted-in their scripts for the 2019 opportunity via The Black List, with each evaluated and rated via the site’s industry readers and processes. Producer Chris Veerhuis of Wa-based Veerhuis Pictures will now work with WB to determine from the list the recipient(s), if any, of the WB script deal. That opportunity will commit a writer to write a new script (first draft and a rewrite) for WB.

In 1966, the Korean government and filmmakers agreed to designate Oct. 27, 1919, as “the day of cinema,” because “Fight for Justice,” its inaugural film was screened for the first time on that day. In its 100th year, the industry is celebrating the event in a critical, yet festive fashion.
“Korean cinema had its earliest beginning at the time of the March First Independence Movement, when Korea fought for independence,” said Korean actress Chang Mi-hee (“Claire’s Camera”), who is also the co-head of Korean Film Council’s committee for the centenary anniversary celebration project at a press event in April. “With veteran filmmakers who devoted their lives to pioneer Korean cinema for the past hundred years, we hope to organize a forum for celebration.”

Maren Morris stepped onstage at her hometown stadium in Arlington, Texas, in October to sing a song with the night’s headliner, Taylor Swift. “I . . . categorize myself as a superfan,” Swift told the audience. “I listened to [her] album over and over. I know soon she will be playing stadiums this size.” Then they performed Morris’ pop smash “The Middle,” Swift pogoing along as her guest belted the huge hook.

In his incredible forty year career, legendary Northern Ireland and New Zealand raised actor Sam Neill has starred in a multitude of both mainstream movies and independent films, spanning continents, characters, genres and budget sizes. His latest film, Sweet Country, is an Australian frontier drama inspired by true events that embraces traits from the Western genre.
Australian native Warwick Thornton adapts Steven McGregor and David Tranter’s screenplay which tells the tale of Aboriginal farmhand Sam Kelly (Hamilton Morris), who accidentally kills an irate white bigot tormenting his family. Kelly goes on the run from law enforcement which takes the shape of the affable Sergeant Fletcher (Bryan Brown), accompanied by his Good Samaritan employer Fred Smith (Neill) who wishes to guide Kelly home to safety.

Anthony Harvey’s multiple-Oscar-winning “The Lion in Winter,” his lauded adaptation of the play by James Goldman, is coming back to the big screen, thanks to a carefully crafted 4K restoration from Studiocanal and Rialto Pictures.
The dazzling historical drama stars Peter O’Toole and Katharine Hepburn as King Henry II and his Eleanor of Aquitaine, a royal couple on the cusp of bloody ruin and rebellion. The film also boasts the screen debuts of both Anthony Hopkins (as Richard) and Timothy Dalton (as King Philip of France), with stellar turns from John Castle (as Geoffrey) and Nigel Terry (as John) to round out one of the most impressively casted features in Hollywood history.

The sensational, overlooked film scores from the years 1990 to 1999 that really are well worth digging out...
The movies went through tumultuous and exciting changes in the nineties. Quentin Tarantino exploded onto the scene with Reservoir Dogs, Generation X gave rise to slacker marvels like Clerks, and blockbusters like The Matrix put the awe back into special effects.
However, the 90s was also a sensational decade for film music, gifting us classics including the likes of Jurassic Park, Titanic, Total Recall, Braveheart and countless others. But the sheer quality of these soundtrack treasures shouldn’t overshadow those undervalued hidden gems that demonstrate the extraordinary range and versatility of our finest film composers, ones that may have passed you by. So here’s our selection of those incredible works: ranging from the earworming to the unsettling, the melodic to the chaotic, these are the scores that simply demand your attention.

Anomalisa
Directed by Duke Johnson and Charlie Kaufman
Screenplay by Charlie Kaufman
2015, USA
The original Anomalisa was a “sound play” by Charlie Kaufman (Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, Adaptation), performed before an audience only twice. The “sound” aspect referred to the fact that its main character has a disorder that makes him see everyone with the same face and hear the same voice. Character actor Tom Noonan (The House of the Devil, Manhunter) acted out this sea of parts on stage opposite David Thewlis’ (Naked, Restoration) Michael Stone. Stone, famous in the world of customer service, is a married motivational speaker struggling with depression and the need for intimacy when he lands in a Cincinnati hotel for a contracted engagement. There he ruminates about a love he threw away and finds hope in a new woman named Lisa (Jennifer Jason Leigh). Thanks to Dino Stamatopoulos (writer, animator, perhaps best...

Idw Publishing is bringing zombie comic Deadworld back to life this December. Gary Reed and Sami Makkonen, the team behind Deadworld: War of the Dead, continue where they left off and push the story into even darker territory with new mini-series Deadworld: Restoration.
“I’m excited about this series,” said writer Reed, “and the title of the series, Restoration, ties in with a number of different elements within the story. Yes, some things are restored, but it’s not going to be what most people think.”
Reed is the one of the original writers of the Deadworld series and a longtime contributor as well as the co-creator and writer of the Harvey Award nominee for Best New Series, Baker Street. Makkonen, of Eisner Award nominated series Hatter M fame, has won the prestigious Sarjis Award in Finland for Best Illustrator and is the artist for Idw’s recently...

Time Bandits was first released in 1981. A family adventure film that sported a fantastic and massive cast of names, with the likes of Sean Connery, John Cleese, Shelley Duvall, Ian Holm and Michael Palin, among others. It was like a fantastical family film with the cast of Monty Python.
Director and another former Python, Terry Gilliam, who went on to direct such incredible cinematic events as Brazil, Twelve Monkeys and Fear & Loathing in Las Vegas was behind the camera here, much like he was in the Monty Python movies and it feels very similar to his previous work in many ways. Surreal and at times incredibly weird, Time Bandits just feels like a Gilliam film.

A new 3 minute trailer has arrived for 'Man Of Steel' on the back of a viral video message from General Zod (Michael Shannon), in which the Kryptonian demands that the people of Earth hand Kal-El over to him.
From Warner Bros. Pictures and Legendary Pictures comes “Man of Steel,” starring Henry Cavill (“Immortals,” TV’s “The Tudors”) in the role of Clark Kent/Superman, under the direction of Zack Snyder (“300,” “Watchmen”).
A young boy learns that he has extraordinary powers and is not of this Earth. As a young man, he journeys to discover where he came from and what he was sent here to do. But the hero in him must emerge if he is to save the world from annihilation and become the symbol of hope for all mankind.
The film also stars four-time Oscar nominee Amy Adams (“The Master”) as Daily Planet journalist Lois Lane,...

Seeing as how we may very well be just a few short months away from a new boom in giant monster cinema, it should come as no surprise to see more and more classic kaiju flicks like Gorgo getting the hi-def treatment.
Britain’s answer to Godzilla, Gorgo first stomped her way onto the big screen back in 1971. The final directorial effort from Eugene Lourie (The Beast from 20,000 Fathoms, The Colossus of New York, and The Giant Behemoth) starred Bill Travers, William Sylvester, and Vincent Winter and featured top-notch special effects by two-time Oscar winner Tom Howard.
Though the MGM production would prove a one-off, the ear-wiggling reptilian titan managed to spawn a 23-issue comic book by Charleton Comics and remains one of the most respected giant monster movie offerings from the golden age of creature features.
A volcanic eruption in the North Atlantic brings to the surface a 65-foot prehistoric monster.

Prometheus (20th Century Fox) Ridley Scott’s quasi-prequel to his 1979 classic “Alien” has an intergalactic exploratory team (Noomi Rapace, Michael Fassbender, Guy Pearce, Charlize Theron, Idris Elba) arriving on a uncharted planet, where they discover what appears to be a dormant alien spacecraft and what might be the first discovery of intelligent life outside of Earth. Of course, everything goes straight to hell before you can scream “Don’t touch that egg!” Sumptuous visuals and strong performances from the cast (not to mention a nearly-perfect first half) can’t compensate for gaping plot and logic holes that nearly sink the proceedings in the film’s protracted second half. It feels as though some very crucial footage wound up on the cutting room floor. Perhaps, as with “Alien” and “Aliens” we’ll see a “Director’s Cut” of “Prometheus” arriving on DVD within the next year. In the meantime,...

However, Dean himself becomes enraptured with her, causing his plan to take a series of wrong turns.
Gambit, written by Joel and Ethan Coen, directed by Michael Hoffman (Restoration, A Midsummer Night’s Dream), also stars Alan Rickman, Tom Courtenay, Stanley Tucci, Cloris Leachman, Anna Skellern, and Togo Igawa.
Gambit premieres in U.K. on November 21st, 2012 and a U.S. release date is still to be decided.

This film about King Charles II and a fictional doctor flips messily from frippery and farting to 17th-century mental healthcare
Restoration (1995)
Director: Michael Hoffman
Entertainment grade: C–
History grade: B
King Charles II was restored to the throne of England after the fall of the shortlived Commonwealth in 1660.
Language
Dissolute fictional doctor Robert Merivel (Robert Downey Jr) has pawned his instruments, and must go to his father, a glover, for cash to get them back. His father agrees, reluctantly, on the grounds "that the son of a glovemaker should not be denied the use of those gifts that marked you as a physician before you could spell physic!" English spelling had been somewhat standardised by the King James Bible of 1611 (which spells "physic" as "physick", in "Learn before thou speak, and use physick or ever thou be sick", Apocrypha, Sir 1:19). Even so, bearing in mind that Samuel Johnson would...
