Se aborda la subjetividad en donde es detectable la percepción y la memoria, cuando testimonios de un mismo acontecimiento pueden ofrecer relatos o descripciones de éste substancialmente distintos pero, sim embargo, igualmente plausibles.
Como cuanto Kuhn nos habla sobre la inconmensurabilidad de los paradigmas científicos, que al menos, en los momentos revolucionarios, cuando subsisten paradigmas diferentes, fácilmente pueden ofrecer explicaciones alternativas, coherentes y sostenibles dentro de cada uno de ellos, pero totalmente incompatibles entre si.
En efecto, esta trama nos propone la mencionada inconmensurabilidad, subjetividad e indecidibilidad entre las cuatro versiones que se presentan de unos mismos hechos criminales, cuya exacta y concreta verdad resulta imposible de determinar unívoca, indudable y apodícticamente.

A pesar de ser una historia sádicamente absurda, en el desarrollo de la trama brota inevitáblemtne la cuestión del estado de naturaleza, claro está, potenciándola de una manera artificial bajo la condición tácita de que uno solo de los concursanes sobrevivirá. Aludiendo a Hobbes y Locke, se hace una hipérbole sobre el estado de naturaleza en donde cada hombre es igual a los demás; y como la mayor parte de ellos no observa estrictamente la equidad y la justicia, el disfrute de la propiedad (en este caso solo la vida) que uno tiene en un estado así es sumamente inseguro.
