Wow! Memories from Germany 72-75
stevenrob6317 May 2023
As a brat stationed in Hanau Germany and with limited AFN television, this show was a Sunday spectacle for me and my best friends. We would look forward to this show and stayed glued to the TV. If a motorcycle daredevil episode aired we would watch and dream about getting a mini bike for the wide open fields at Campo Pond area.

I totally forgot that Chuck Conners was the host. When he rolled up on that motorcycle we knew we were in for something cool, (hopefully, Lol). The only downside was that the AFN, armed forces network, had limited access to new episodes, so we sometimes had to wait for new episodes. But oh well, we still loved it.

Ahh, memories.....

Pre-That's Incredible!

Warning: Spoilers
I remember watching Thrillseekers, hosted by Chuck Connors, and for sure this was an amazing show for the time, and I think it could have been the precursor of That's Incredible that was co-hosted by Cathy Lee Crosby. Anyway, the thrillseekers brought much entertainment to Thrillseekers, and it was something that could have run for a few seasons or so with the thrills and spills of the thrillseekers.

Maybe Thrillseekers can be rebooted please, and I'd love to see new stunts, for example people taking selfies on the Eiffel Tower or some skyscraper in some autocratic state or something like that.

Thrillseekers

Thrillseekers was Produced, Written and Directed by my father, Larry Stewart. It was one of, if not the first of what we today call "Reality" shows. I'd be curious to see how many people might want to see this show in re-runs. I've often thought of bringing it back. For the other reviewer, it aired on NBC, not ABC, later, ABC aired That's Incredible, which was kind of a steal of Thrillseekers but with onstage hosts, rather than on site hosts like Chuck Connors was. It was a fun show to shoot and was shot all over the United States and Canada. Curious what ever happened to those in the show, especially Teresa Jeffries who trained wild animals for films and TV shows.

Ahead of its time, highlighting the otherwise overlooked
PNW-John7 December 2020
I was born after the production of this show, but vaguely remember some of it, as I saw it when I was young. My late father was in one of the episodes, performing a flaming car rollover. Unfortunately all of our remnants of it are long gone. Also, I am interested in any information regarding copies of these episodes. Please reach out directly with any information or items for sale.

A low budget show ahead of it's time.
djfinlay10 November 2006
The show was produced by Four Star, which also produced another Chuck Conners show, The Rifelman. The Thrillseekers was low budget and shot in 16mm for the TV syndication market. As a result, it was not shown on network TV. The Federal mandated prime time access rule created an extra half hour of prime time programing for local stations to fill. A number of TV production and syndication companies like Four Star rushed shows into production to fill the newly available, post evening news time slot. Most of these new shows failed to garner enough station clearance or ratings to stay on the air. After one season, Four Star stopped production on The Thrillseekers. Today, with many cable channels, it might have survived longer.

An entertaining show TV show with Knevil-esquire stunts!
zombiebirdhouse11 October 2005
The show was called "THRILL SEEKERS". This was likely from the era of about 1972-1975, and predated shows like "That's Incredible" by a few years. In the days of only a handful of channels, I would take a guess that this was an ABC network program.

The show detailed thrill-seeking "Knevil like" daredevils as they prepared and performed unheard of stunts. As long as it flew fast, had speeding wheels, shot sparks, breathed fire, raced on water, and ended with parachutes (or a combination of any of the elements mentioned) this show filmed it...and Chuck added his presence, voice, and "macho" delivery that was perfect for this show.

Thrillseekers was an entertaining show that I often enjoyed as a kid with my family. :)
