Now in its third year the Sundance London film and music festival has just unveiled its lineup for the 2014 event and it is the strongest year so far.
Building on the great work done by the festival’s filmmakers and directors over the last few years the London based offshoot of the famous Park City happening has carved out its own identity to become on the most interesting and eclectic events in the calendar.
We have an Exclusive Presale link so click here now to get your tickets for Sundance London.
Michael Fassbender leads the way as Jon Ronson’s affectionate tribute to the world of Frank Sidebottom gets a UK premiere at the festival. Likewise Steve Coogan and Rob Brydon’s second Trip (this time to Italy) gets its first showing (and is highly recommended) and Ryan Reynolds and Gemma Arterton talk to the animals in Marjane Satrapi’s The Voices.

Title: [Rec] 2 – Fear Revisited Directed by: Jaume Balaguero & Paco Plaza Starring: Jonathan Mellor, Manuela Velasco and Oscar Zafra Running time: 84 minutes, Rated R Picking up where the previous film left off, an official from the Ministry of Health along with a Swat team outfitted with helmet cameras go into the quarantined apartment building in search of the source of the contagion and fight off zombies at every turn. Starring: Jonathan Mellor, Oscar Sanchez Zafra, Ariel Casas, Alejandro Casaseca, Pablo Rosso, Pep Molina, Andrea Ros
[Rec] 2 picks up 15 minutes from where we left off, taking us back into the quarantined apartment building where a terrifying virus runs rampant. What they find inside lies beyond the scope of medical science---a demonic nightmare more terrifying than they could possibly imagine.
[Rec] 2 is one of those rare sequels that people genuinely like. It's almost an improvement on its predecessor, utilizing a new and original way to "record" the action without going over the top and becoming redundant. There's none of that, "Yeah...but who would continue holding a camera when you're being attacked by a zombie?" business, that seems to be the number one complaint of the hand held era. By using fancy Swat team cameras attached to helmets, that also allow for the hub to "cut...

The Plot: The final chapter of the Harry Potter franchise. Harry, Ron, and Hermione continue in their quest to find and destroy the Dark Lord’s three remaining Horcruxes
The Buzz: We’ve been following these spell-casters around now for just over a decade, and it’s hard to believe that their journey is coming to a close. It’s been interesting to see Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson and Rupert Grint grow up on screen. I’ve personally found these films to be more and more palatable as the kids have moved on through the years, and have therefore found each...

[Rec]2 follows the time-honoured tradition of sequels, by on paper offering us much more whilst actually delivering a far lesser experience. The original 2007 mock-doc horror thrived on its simple premise and pared down execution, with a single camera and largely mysterious threat. The sequel provides multiple POVs, religious overtones and a feast of clunky exposition up front, all of which largely squander the tightly constructed pleasures of the original.
Things start well as the film picks up more or less immediately from where the last film left off, with a second crew preparing to enter the quarantined building. There's a sense of integrity in how the two overlap, with the same directing team helping it maintain the look and feel of the original. The second team are a group of Swat-esque armed police, each equipped with their own helmet-cam. Joining them is a cameraman (to document everything) and the shady Dr.

Paco Plaza's [Rec] 2 has only been in theaters less than two weeks and a new image has already surfaced for the prequel in the works, Rec:Genesis. Paco Plaza wrote this prequel with Luis Berdejo and this time the story focuses on how the virus got started.
The picture courtesy of ShockTillYouDrop shows Dr. Owen (Jonathan David Mellor) in the forefront with the man in the background who is Jaun Albelda (Jose Mellinas) who is a mystery man for Rec:Genesis but his father; Father Albeda, was mentioned in [Rec] 2.
Looks like they're at a carnival or circus here, judging by the background and lights. I wonder if this plays into the plot?...

Some of you may recall the news that Paco Plaza has been working on a [Rec] prequel currently titled Rec: Genesis. Plaza is once again directing and with the film currently in pre-production we are treated to a first look. Read more to check out the image.
It would appear that Rec: Genesis is an origin story that will explain the demonic virus/possession seen in the past films. This images shows us Dr. Owne (Jonathan David Mellor) and newcomer Juan Albelda (Jose Millinas).

Update! We've just found out the image is a fake. Disappointing. Stay tuned to Cb and we'll let you know as soon as there's something real. Rec 2 has only been in theaters for two weeks, but director Paco Plaza is already hard at work on the franchise.s third film, the prequel Rec: Genesis. Plaza co-wrote the script with Luis Berdejo and it focuses on how this whole virus got out to begin with. I imagine Dr. Owen (Jonathan David Mellor), the priest introduced in Rec 2, will be at the center of the story. He.s the guy in the forefront of this very first image from Genesis posted on Shock Till You Drop. The man in the background is Juan Albelda (Jose Mellinas). We.ve never seen him before, but we do know of his father, Father Albeda who.s mentioned in Rec 2. So what.s going on...

In 2007, Spanish film makers Jaume Balagueró and Paco Plaza collaborated on [Rec], one of the most engaging, interesting, and yes -- fucking scary films of the last few years. Filmed with a hand-held camera in the Cloverfield / Blair Witch-style, first-person technique, it successfully made the viewer feel like they were really in the room, watching the events unfold. The story, about a team of firemen, a reporter, and a cameraman who end up sealed inside a building filled with people who slowly become infected with an unknown sickness that turns them into ravenous monsters, a la 28 Days Later, wasn't exactly a ground breaker, but it was well-executed and deftly directed. It was remade into an Americanized, English language version, Quarantine, which was, despite being an almost shot-for-shot reproduction, fucking terrible. But [Rec] is absolutely worth your time.
So, of course, a sequel was made. [Rec] 2, unlike many sequels to cult hits, managed to...

Picking up where the original left off, [Rec] 2 offers a bevy of first-person scares and moments rife with tension. It’s an admirably efficient horror exercise with an in-your-face, down-to-business sensibility that never lets up. The picture lacks the fully-rounded, satisfying sense of a narrative arc introduced and explored, but it provides a fine dose of sheer visceral entertainment. Shot in the Blair Witch/Cloverfield handheld style, the picture forgoes exposition to send a new team into the sealed off apartment building overrun with zombies, into which (in the original) a TV reporter and her cameraman descended, never to return. The new, rather brainless squad consists of a medical officer (Jonathan Mellor) hiding a secret and a Swat team. … [visit site to read more]...

[Rec] 2 relies almost entirely on its tunnel-vision, single-player style for its scares. It's a strategy that stalls out halfway through, which means it works for twice as long as it should. Picking up where the 2007 sleeper hit [Rec] left off, this Spanish horror trip sets up its premise while efficiently establishing its style: A Swat team is suiting up and turning on its helmet cams (we're given one soldier's perspective, though other cameras are occasionally patched in) in order to escort a health inspector (Jonathan Mellor) into a quarantined building. No one is quite sure what the disease is or how it manifests itself, but it's killing the people inside. [Rec] 2 executes its one big twist almost immediately; the series of aftershock-like twists in its wake occur with descending intensity. The last one wouldn't rattle a teacup.

Directed by: Jaume Belaguero and Paco Plaza
Cast: Jonathan Mellor, Maneula Velasco, Oscar Zafra, Pablo Rosso
Running Time: 1 hr 25 mins
Rating: R
Release Date: July 9, 2010
Plot: Picking up only minutes after the first [Rec], this movie follows a Swat team as they try to contain the situation within the apartment building. Throw in a random demonic possession or two and it makes for one helluva bad day in this Pov horror thriller.
Who’S It For? This is for horror fans that don’t mind reading subtitles. As I settled in for this one, I heard several people around me groan that it was in Spanish so take that into account before buying your ticket. Also, fans of Diy film making and Pov horror movies like Paranormal Activity may want to check this out.
Expectations: Call me old-fashioned, but I hear the words “demonic possession” and I’m out. I’m...

Rarely do horrorphiles get treated to sequels that match their originals and that answer lingering questions we may have once thought would be forever unanswered. When it comes to [Rec] 2, the follow-up to 2007’s widely well-regarded Spanish language [Rec], that’s still the case. Though the film starts well enough, adhering to the spirit and scares of the original, it’s unable to sustain the strength of the tension that opens it.
