Plot: A deep dive into all the great movies that came out in 1982.
Review: Everyone has their own take on the greatest year ever for cinema. Scholars tend to cite 1939, as that’s the year Gone With The Wind, The Wizard of Oz, Gunga Din, Mr. Smith Goes to Washington, and several other seminal classics came out. Modern film fans tend to cite 1999, thanks to The Matrix, Fight Club, Being John Malkovich, Magnolia and many more. I’d make a strong case for 2007 myself, with Into the Wild, The Assassination of Jesse James, Gone Baby Gone, Zodiac, There Will Be Blood, No Country for Old Men, and others. But, if you’re a movie geek, one year stands above them all, and it’s 1982.
Think about it. E.T., The Thing, Star Trek II, Rocky III, Poltergeist, Blade Runner, the list goes on and on. And now, 1982 is getting a...

The lineup for the 2023 San Diego Comic-Con has been unveiled, giving attendees – and those refreshing their browsers the entire weekend – a little less to look forward to but still plenty of panels, reveals and anniversary spotlights. The 2023 Comic-Con is a far more limited affair this year due to major players like Marvel, Sony, Universal, Disney, and more dropping out at least partly due to the ongoing Writers Guild of America strike. And with deadlines on the potential Screen Actors Guild strike quickly approaching, could only harm the event even more.
Here are some of the highlights of the 2023 San Diego Comic-Con:
Thursday, July 20th:
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem – “Paramount Pictures brings a panel discussion and footage presentation with filmmakers.”
Project K – “From the heartland of India emerges a unique tale that intertwines ancient mythology with cutting-edge science fiction, all within the captivating Spice Punk aesthetic. Welcome to Project K,...

E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial, Poltergeist, Blade Runner, The Thing, Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan…
These are just a few of the genre classics that made their theatrical debut within months of each other in 1982! It’s widely considered the summer that shaped modern geek culture, and if anyone knows what it means to be a defining voice of that generation – it’s the great Mark A. Altman. The former boss of the iconic Sci-Fi Universe Magazine, the writer and producer of Free Enterprise, the showrunner of The CW’s Pandora and the best-selling author of definitive Star Trek and James Bond oral histories, Altman is perhaps the authority on all things genre. Indeed, his upcoming documentary 1982: Greatest Geek Year Ever is shaping up to be his Magnum Opus.

This Thursday, we're bringing you our officially licensed Maniac Cop 2 collection!
Written by Larry Cohen (The Stuff) and directed by William Lustig (Maniac), Part 2 of the series is my personal favorite entry in the series. A 90's cult classic in the truest sense, it's just so satisfying to see a much more monstrous Matt Cordell wreak havoc on the streets of New York City. We couldn't be more excited to work with top notch artists on this release, including Devon Whitehead, Jason Edmiston, Shane Murphy, and Matt Skiff. All art is officially licensed, and approved by William Lustig himself for what might...

USA 2012 Fantasia imdb
This year, Fantasia doubled the number of documentaries in their Documentaries From The Edge series from five to ten. Justine has already raved about The Mechanical Bride and I intend to write very positively about Despite the Gods and My Amityville Horror when I get a chance to devote the time to the reviews that they deserve…
Toy Masters, on the other hand, is my biggest disappointment of this year’s Fantasia Festival. It’s almost not fair to review the film, it is such a work in progress. The Q&A after the film was filled with talk of extra footage that the production team were about to shoot or had just shot, “Dolph Lundgren? Yeah, he’s supposed to come to our office to film an interview in two weeks.

Ray Romano: 95 Miles to Go is not your standard stand-up special. Rather, it is a tour documentary directed by Romano’s good friend and fellow stand-up, Tom Caltabiano, which chronicles a tour the two men did the summer after the fifth season of Everybody Loves Raymond. The two men hopped in a car with one of the show’s interns, film student Roger Lay Jr., and visited seven cities in eight days. That covers around one thousand miles, most of which were caught on tape. Those hours of footage were whittled down into this HBO special, with mixed results.
