Moroccan director Aziz Tazi’s thriller “Night Walk,” featuring a turn by Mickey Rourke, has scored a slew of international sales prior to its U.S. launch this month via Lionsgate/Grindstone Entertainment Group.
The English-language pic, for which Rourke won a supporting actor nod at the 2019 Moscow Film Festival, turns on an American named Frank, played by Sean Stone, who is imprisoned in an Arab country after being wrongly accused of killing his Arab girlfriend after a tragic incident.
Behind bars, under guidance from the prison’s most influential inmate (Rourke) and with protection of his Muslim cellmate, Frank unravels a maze of political corruption that leads to top government ranks. Eric Roberts, Sarah Alami and Patrick Kilpatrick also star in the indie pic alongside several Moroccan stars, including veteran actor Abdellah Chicha (“Deep State”) and Ahlam Zaimi (“Razzia”).

"You just keep your mouth shut, or your lights go out. You feel me?" Lionsgate has unveiled the first trailer for a gritty thriller called Night Walk, from Moroccan filmmaker Aziz Tazi. This originally premiered back in 2019 at the Moscow Film Festival, but is only now getting a direct-to-vod release. In this strange take on "Romeo and Juliet", star-crossed lovers are torn apart by cultural tensions between the East and the West. Sarah takes her American boyfriend Frank to her home country in the Arab world. After an incident during a night stroll, Frank is imprisoned by corrupt police for Sarah's murder. His quest for justice turns into a spiritual journey led by Muslim inmates, from the moderate convert to terror-linked fundamentalists. The film stars Mickey Rourke, Eric Roberts, Sean Stone, Tommy 'Tiny' Lister, Louis Mandylor, and Sarah Alami as Sarah. Looks like yet another of these derivative, bland crime...

Sean Stone is keeping it in the family for his next project as writer/director: an adaptation of his father Oliver’s novel “A Child’s Night Dream.” The younger Stone has already written a screenplay based on the book, which the Academy Award–winning filmmaker wrote when he was 19 and serving in the military. Deadline first broke the news.
Set in Vietnam and based on the “Platoon” and “Born on the 4th of July” director’s own experiences, “A Child’s Night Dream” was first published in 1997. The story will be moved to the aftermath of 9/11 for the film adaptation. 'JFK' movie with Kevin Costner as Jim Garrison 'JFK' assassination movie: Gripping political drama gives added meaning to 'Rewriting History' If it's an Oliver Stone film, it must be bombastic, sentimental, clunky, and controversial. With the exception of "clunky," JFK is all of the above. It is also riveting, earnest, dishonest, moving, irritating, paranoid, and, more frequently than one might expect, outright brilliant. In sum, Oliver Stone's 1991 political thriller about a determined district attorney's investigation of the assassination of U.S. president John F. Kennedy is a slick piece of propaganda that mostly works both dramatically and cinematically. If only some of the facts hadn't gotten trampled on the way to film illustriousness. With the exception of John Williams' overemphatic score – Oliver Stone films need anything but overemphasis – JFK's technical and artistic details are put in place to extraordinary effect. Joe Hutshing and Pietro Scalia's editing...

Pro Se Productions continues its tradition of providing the best in New Pulp and Genre Fiction with its latest release- A Week In Hell, the First volume in the Champion City digest novel series by author J. Walt Layne!
“Crime stories,” Tommy Hancock, Partner in and Editor-in-Chief of Pro Se, comments, “have always been an essential part of Pulp Fiction. It’s a genre not restricted by time periods or certain story conventions. Crime is Crime and Crime is everywhere. What J. Walt Layne does in A Week In Hell is tell a tale of crime and murder in a very tried and true style, reminiscent of paperbacks of the 1950s. It’s two fisted, it comes at you guns blazing, and doesn’t ask for permission or forgiveness.” Welcome to Champion City. A megatropolis it isn’t. But you couldn’t arrive at that conclusion by looking at the police blotter.

As I write this, I’m marveling at how much an ordinary Film School Reject’s life can change in a couple of weeks. A couple Saturdays ago, I was kickin’ it in Hollywood at the first-annual La Horror Fest and having the time of my life. Now I’m freezing my proverbial nutsack off in my home state of Minnesota, toiling in what feels like perpetual darkness thanks to that straight-up bullshit we know affectionately as “falling back.” Thankfully, I still have the memories of the sunshine and (cinematic) bloodletting to keep me warm. And, hey, if I learned anything at the Fest, it’s that you’ve got to take the bitter with the sweet. Or in my case, the pea-green vomit with the succulent artisanal fruit jam. Trust me. This will all make sense in seconds. Just give me a moment to connect the dots. The Spawn of Stone Seven features screened at the...

Sean Stone has a lot to live up to. The son of a very famous director (Oliver Stone), Sean begins carving out his own niche in film making with his horror film Greystone Park. One of the many current releases that employs the found footage device, Greystone Park, an abandoned mental institution, is a real place which Sean says he and his crew broke into, and is truly haunted. Having seen the film, I can say it does indeed contain some genuine scares, and Sean exhibits an ability at creating tension and frightening the audience. What he had to say about the process of creating his first feature, and his own beliefs in the supernatural was quite interesting. Believe him, don't believe him, either...

Acclaimed filmmaker Oliver Stone famously began his career directing schlock like “The Hand” and having associations with the likes of Lloyd Kaufman. It seems only fitting that son Sean Stone would follow a similar path into filmmaking. But while yesterday’s up-and-comers make their bones in skeevy genre filmmaking, today’s film school brats are a bit more formalistic, emerging out of the directing womb with autocritical theories and refuting of accepted tropes. When James Cameron was making “Piranha 2,” the attempt was to build a new wheel. With Sean Stone, the attempt is to subtly tweak it. So forgive expectations for being a bit higher for the progeny of the man behind “JFK” with the new thriller "Greystone Park." This new horror film comes stamped with an “inspired by true events” tag, but they would have been better off emphasizing the film’s familiar pedigree. It’s found-footage, the mention.

Sean Stone (son of Oliver) makes his feature directorial debut with Greystone Park, a found-footage flick inspired by his own experiences in an abandoned mental hospital. In this exclusive interview, Sean talks about haunted hallways, ghosts, and his famous dad.
Greystone Park is “based on a true story.” Of course, I need to know what that true story is.
The true story is really the one you see on-screen. You see the dinner table scene - that was the catalyst for this whole event. When my father was in New York shooting Wall Street 2, we all had dinner: my dad, Alex Wraith, me, a couple of friends. Alex was talking about Greystone, this haunted hospital. He had been exploring it for three years. He had taken his camera with him; he had been arrested a couple of times for trespassing. He was trying to document what was going on, trying...

Greystone Park is the latest faux documentary centering on paranormal activity. The twist this time out is that it’s a re-creation of actual events that happened to filmmaker Sean Stone and his friends while exploring the infamous New Jersey institution.
Stone (the son of director Oliver Stone) and friends shot the film on location and often encountered new paranormal experiences during the production. All of this they captured on video, further blurring the lines between fact and fiction. After a successful run on the festival circuit, Greystone Park, arrives on DVD and Blu-ray this week. Stone, who has already made several documentaries and has appeared in many of his father’s projects, recently spoke with Planet Fury about his experiences making the film.
You have a background in documentary films so the faux documentary style of Greystone Park seems like a natural progression into scripted fare.
Yeah. Very True.

Greystone Park (a.k.a. The Asylum Tapes) is the latest in a long line of “found footage” films to inundate the Dtv market.
It takes the Blair Witch approach by using the actual names of the actors involved and placing in them in a real, purportedly haunted location — in this instance, a former psychiatric hospital in New Jersey called Greystone Park. The building itself is an ominous, gothic structure that practically screams “horror film.” Making his feature directorial debut is Sean Stone, the son of award-winning director Oliver Stone. (The elder Stone even makes an appearance in a scene at the beginning.) His background includes several documentary projects, including some engrossing shorts about his father’s work, making him a logical candidate for this particular genre. Stone is also...

I’m one of those people who hear “found footage” and wonder why do they bother. I give the film a chance and then give my reaction after I watched it. Normally I get annoyed by the person behind the camera who is always an asshole and uses the camera as a kind of shield, while shoving it in the faces of the people in front it. Lately there have been a sub-genre of this sub-genre (a sub-sub-genre?) and that is the found footage film set in abandoned psychiatric hospitals, and that is what The Asylum Tapes is.

To bring originality to the found footage genre is a challenge in itself. Due to the sub-genres simplistic style and minimal cost productions it's a no brainer for smaller production companies to get involved with but bringing the intended scares to its audience can still escape the director. Hopefully helmer Sean Stone, son of filmmaker Oliver Stone, can bring a fresh perspective with his directorial feature debut 'Greystone Park'. The movie stars Stone along with Antonella Lentini, John Schramm, Monique Zordan and Monique Van Vooren as well as appearances from writer Alexander Wraith and Sean's father Oliver Stone.
