Avengers: Infinity War (2018)
2 hours for an unresolved movie?
This movie was so long. Endless fighting, endless wars in so many different places, all just to be unresolved at the end? You are kidding? I would have felt like I wasted money walking out of the theaters.
It had great fx and all, and I do like thanos. It was nice to see guardians of the galaxy. Disappointed in hulk dysfunction. Tony stark more full of himself than ever. Gosh. Did not like.
X-Men: Dark Phoenix (2019)
Pretend this movie does not exist. Like Dragonball Evolution
They have screwed up EVERY X-Men movie, in so many ways. This one, was the biggest screw up. Who writes and accepts these stories!? FIRE THIS PERSON!
So, first off, it's not in the time-line with the other films. But they kinda made it appear as if it was.
They totally screwed up the Phoenix story. Not true to the comic, nor the animated series. What were they thinking!?
The weakest x-men film of all, and also no wolverine! Wtf!?
Guardians of the Galaxy (2014)
Another typical Marvel movie.
Marvel movies to me, are all about the same. I go in with expectations and come out with exactly what I was expecting. Guardians of the Galaxy gave a little more. Great action, fx, and cgi. But I really did not like some of the cast, and I could not connect with them. But I still did enjoy it enough to want to see the 2nd one now.
Ladyhawke (1985)
Kinda like Princess Bride
I liked this movie. Great settings, cast, story. But through the first half, there is some really corny 80s music that does not quite fit a medieval movie setting. The music is so upbeat like you are watching Top Gun or a Rocky movie. It does not fit. The later half did get it right with traditional Celtic type music. A lovely ending that will make you cry. I can see why this is a classic, and good reason to be at my local library. Definitely worth a watch.
Joker (2019)
Great, but does not match up
Great movie, but the set up and lore of joker does not match up with the 1989 batman. In this movie, it was not the joker that killed Wayne's parents. There was no saying "have you ever danced with the devil in the pale moonlight". Very important saying that made Bruce realize who the joker was. Why change those elements?
Sen to Chihiro no kamikakushi (2001)
What an absolutely creative imaginative story!
The only other anime I ever got into, was dragonball z. So I was hesitant to watch this. But I'm so glad I did! If you need a movie to watch to get lost in and take your mind off things in the real world stresses; this is the perfect movie.
The charecters and world and writing is just on a whole different level of creative, its absolutely amazing. Everything about it, is unique. It's sorta like an Alice in wonderland movie, but 100 times better.
Terminator Genisys (2015)
Almost as good as T2
Great action. Emilia Clark was great! As was Arnold. John connor was a little weird. But still; great story and time line elements. Superb movie. They really redeemed the franchise with this one.
Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines (2003)
It has good moments and bad moments
A worthy terminator movie, but it takes a weird turn in the franchise. Very unfortunate Linda Hamilton could not be in it. I really did not like the actors that played John connor and Kathryn Brewster. Arnold's acting was a little rough, but still terminator like. Good action scenes, and the villain is pretty cool. They did her very well.
The Terminator (1984)
Excellent
This movie is great and what started it all. It cleaned up beautifully on blu ray. If you watch the movie on DVD, it may look a little dated. The music still certainly is either way. Strong cast. Good acting, great action and explosions. What more could you ask for?
Terminator: Dark Fate (2019)
"This is intense"
Lots of great action, and it did seem non-stop. It was great to see Arnold and Linda pair up again. I did not particularly care for ANY of the other cast. The movie needed a bit more story. That's probably it's only flaw. Kinda like how the movie kill Bill, was all action, but kill Bill 2 was story driven. This would be the first kill Bill. Terminator 2 is still the best, but genesys was also really great. Perhaps Genysys was just slightly better. If you also like this, I highly recommend the sarah connor chronicals as well. T3 is like middle ground of all the movies. I pretend salvation doesn't exist.
Dracula (1931)
Doesn't hold a candle to the others.
Dracula's stare, was the only decent parts of the movies. It was nice to see the evolution of the dracula films though. In the last 2 months, I have seen the 1979 nosferatu, bram strokers dracula, dracula untold, and now this. Bram strokers dracula will always be my favorite rendition. This movie was horrible in comparison.
American Psycho (2000)
Not pleasant to watch and confusing
If 50 shades of gray went in a rampage killing spree of women. But then you Don't know if it was real or not. Unanswered questions at the end. What about the book his secretary found? Were they just drawings? Was he insane?
Creature from the Black Lagoon (1954)
A terrible tease
Like a bad episode of the twighlight zone, or star trek. This was horrible. Cheesy monster costume, over done music, bad acting, boring same locations, repeated endeavors, just bad bad bad all around. Very bad.
Invasion of the Body Snatchers (1956)
If you like 'They live' you'll like this.
It reminds me of twighlight zone, star trek and the movie they live. Which is not a bad thing. I appreciate all the classicness of it. Different times then. Actors were classier, old cars, bad fx, but it was 1956, so you can't expect a lot. Good story and fun to watch, but I did not like the end.
It (1990)
Long, weird, but good
Great cast, great acting, well filmed, great boogyman and acting from him. You really connect with all the actors, young and old. Good team work and how it all comes together. Story is weird, but by the end, no regrets in watching. I prefer this compared to the new ones which are so cliché.
The Thing (1982)
EXCELLENT!
Great story, ambiance, well filmed, well written, but what really stood out was the great animitronics and monsters! It looked so believable and keep in mind, this movie is from 1982! No cgi back then. John carpenter is a genius, and paired with Kurt Russell, it's a guaranteed hit, and it was. I totally loved this movie.
The Bride of Frankenstein (1935)
Almost pointless.
While it was nice to see the more human side of Frankenstein and his desire to fit in, this movie was pointless. Especially the last 10 minutes of the bride part. COMPLETELY pointless. I liked the first Frankenstein, but this one straight up sucked!
The Birds (1963)
Classy horror
This came out in 1963. Movies were very different back then. The men and women dressed better, they were classier and full of proper etiquette. These things in themselves, make for a good experience. As for the horror angle, it's not very frightening, but it must have been all the talk for it's time. The only thing I really did not like, was there was no explanation of why or were the birds came from, or what was to become of the area when they escaped.
Aliens (1986)
A night and day difference from the first film
This one is so much more fast paced, greater story, bigger budget, intense moments, a real survival horror, with no sleeper moments like the first. Great filming, decent cast, which you connect with them all. Great mysteries and phenomenal ending. Love it! Disliked the first, but loved this one.
The Invisible Man (2020)
High points and low points
Some things, this movie did very well, like the cinematography, locations, but sometimes the story felt weak, while other times you are on the edge of your seat. Not a bad movie, not a great movie.
Alien (1979)
Too slow
More than half the movie, is simply the crew looking for the little spider face hugger alien. Sigourney weaver is great. I did not care for the rest of the cast. Even though the movie is set far in the future, all the electronics and switchboard are very 1970s much like star wars. The movie does not get good until the last20 or 30 minutes. It made me cringe that Sigourney weaver did not know how to handle a cat safely in a cage.
Frankenstein (1931)
Ultimate classic
I have just watched this for the first time. Usually I do not like black and white movies. This is from 1931, yet I LOVED IT! I loved the way it was filmed, no music at all, but it did not need anyway. Good sets and design, and it set standards in the horror genre for movies to come.
Rosemary's Baby (1968)
A classic
It must have been revolutionary for it's time of 1968. It was well filmed, and a great story. The last 15 minutes are the best. With that said, it is extremely long. Two hours and 17 minutes. Some times the music is awful. Especially in the elevator scene. Despite some of it's short comings, and it having aged, it is still a horror movie staple.
The Dead Zone (1983)
Predictable premonitions
It was good for 1983. Christopher walken provided good acting. Music was good, but not enough. The way it was written, was not a master piece, but it was still enjoyable. I do not regret watching, but don't expect it to blow you away.
The Babadook (2014)
Refreshingly "different"
Most modern horror movies in the United states, are so cliché it's painful. This Australian movie, is refreshingly "different". Yes of course there is still a "boogy man" as a horror film would need, but the way it's filmed, the story, and many things throughout the movie were surprising me left and right. It's a horror that's almost considered "art" without needing to see this new boogeyman clearly like you would Freddy kruegar. There is just enough to portray the scares. Decent acting from an over stressed mother and annoying bratty kid. They did an excellent job acting their part. If this were an American film, maybe it could have been a bit better.
