The New Guy (2002)
3/10
Pretty Lame
31 May 2002
"The New Guy" might not be the worst movie ever but I think it was pretty lame. I don't understand how everyone says its "oh so funny", sure, there were some laughs but most of the laughs is because the actors were making fools of themselves.

I really didn't understand the plot of the movie 'til the very end, and even then it was very shallow. The entire movie is pretty much based on stupid dances and "wannabe gangsta" mentality. The sound effects were really stupid at times (i.e. the "tiger eye", which really made no sense in the first place).

One more thing I didn't like about this movie was that "Dizzy" had WAYYY too many roles pushed into him. In short, not enough characters were played. You will see DJ Qualls play almost every type of personality there is, in a short time. First he is a loser, then he turns mean, then acts like a gangsta, then is the nice guy, then the lover guy, and he was even the main "cheerleader" (haha)...it really didn't make sense to me. I gave this a 3/10.

Don Quixote (2000 TV Movie)
8/10
Fun movie
28 February 2002
I watched this in Spanish class, and I thought it was a very fun movie. It is very accurate (with a few minor changes) to the actual Cervantes novels, "El ingenioso hidalgo don Quijote de la Mancha." John Lithgow plays Don Quixote very well, but Sancho could have used a better accent (Spanish not Scottish). And besides a few strange parts, it is a great movie to watch and time flies. I gave it 9/10.

Cast Away (2000)
10/10
wooooow
22 June 2001
Tom Hanks is now officially my favorite actor! Cast Away will give you chills as you sit at the edge of your seat. Once you start watching, you can't stop--the suspense is indeed a great force in this one.

This is the story of Chuck Noland, an employee of FedEx who thinks time is of the essence. What happens on the airplane when he's flying to Malaysia will change his life forever. And it takes a while for him to "rejuvenate" after his experiences.

Frasier (1993–2004)
Wow!
6 May 2001
This is no doubt the best, funniest sitcom I've ever seen...I haven't seen anything that tops it yet! Frasier and Niles are so silly with their operas and wine, and other "weird" fetishes...that makes the sitcom so funny. They should play more of it on television!

Stupid
27 April 2001
This was a stupid movie...it really had no plot. Three ditsy girls have to retrieve some gadget that, if put into the wrong hands, would be used to track Charlie (the guy that we NEVER see, portrayed by an 80-year-old actor...), and then kill him. It doesn't happen, of course... incoherently put together into scenes, kinda like the Power Puff Girls cartoon show, if any of you have seen that... 4/10.

Scary Movie (2000)

Its okay
28 February 2001
Scary Movie has lots of enjoyable scenes in it...but I feel like something is missing...for one, all it is is a bunch of skits that aren't tied together in any way whatsoever. Some of the laughs didn't deserve laughs, as they were just cheap. However, I did enjoy the movie and if you like comedy, then you should see it. (You HAVE to see some of the movies it pardoies first though, i.e. Scream.)

Great

Warning: Spoilers
I liked this movie a lot...I've seen it a couple of times now on HBO. The acting was good, and the story was as well.

Living in Concrete, Washington, is hard when you are a teenager. Jack and Caroline are low on money and their family was broken apart. Caroline met up with Dwight and they moved to Concrete. Jack repetitively gets in trouble. He tries to fit in but he knows that Dwight is a fake...

*SPOILER* Eventually they move out of Dwight's life and leave him with as little as they had. *END SPOILER*

How funny!
18 November 2000
Wow, this movie surely has several classic scenes in it. John Candy and Steve Martin are great actors, and John Hughes did a great job with the directing.

How would you get home from St. Louis to Chicago for Thanksgiving? Being paired with a nobody, Martin's character has to pay for lodging, and the car rental, and while Candy is driving (the probable funniest scene in the movie), they start going downhill from there, leaving the car in scraps by the end of the movie. And, of course, eventually, they get back to Chicago.

Sleepy Hollow (1999)

Cool movie...
10 November 2000
Depp and Ricci give 4-star performances in Sleepy Hollow...I think the special effects are done very well...it is somewhat violent, in my opinion anyway...but its a pretty nice thriller to watch if you have some time.

The Matrix (1999)

Great movie!
4 November 2000
This is a must see for anyone...it's one of the top 250 films, and I am not surprised. Keanu Reeves does a great job in playing Mr. Anderson / Neo. This movie also has the best special effects I have seen in a long time!

The Matrix is a world that is controlled by Agents. Neo, along with a few others, are in the real world, and they want to break free the people in the other world. What is going to happen? You'll just have to find out! I'll be very excited when Matrix 2 and 3 come out!

The Fugitive (2000–2001)
Wow!
3 November 2000
This is a really nice tv series! This is my first 'Fugitive' film/movie/series I have seen, and it's so suspenseful. Tim Daly does a great job with playing Dr. Richard Kimble... he creates so much suspense. You never know what will happen next, and he always seems to get away at the last minute! It's great, and worth a watch! The hour it's on goes by very quickly, that's for sure!

A Simple Plan (1998)
9/10
Very nicely done.
2 November 2000
Warning: Spoilers
"A Simple Plan" has a very good plot, and the underlying principle of what can happen when you begin to doubt even your closest friend's trust. The 3 friends stumble across a crashed airplane with more than $4 million in a duffel bag. They want to split the money, but where would they put it? They were not sure if it was stolen, recorded, or what, and what would they tell people when they find all the money?

*POSSIBLE SPOILER* This is a great illustration of what can happen with distrust. Many, many deaths. Deaths of your own friends. And your own brother. And, after all those deaths, no one gets the money. All those deaths for nothing. *END POSSIBLE SPOILER*

I gave this film a 9/10.

The Birds (1963)
7/10
Wow!
31 October 2000
What a thriller from Hitchcock! For such a 'mindless' (at least in today's society of movies) plot, it sure does get your adrenaline flowing.

A small town, Bodega Bay, is swarmed by hundreds of bird, which, in turn, attack innocent victims. If you are squirmish, you best not watch, because there are a few catastrophes. Some of the acting is bad, but remember that this movie is from the 1960s. Overall, a great movie which everyone needs to watch! 9/10.

Cool
30 October 2000
Pretty cool movie here...if you like thrillers, you will like this movie set out in the desert. There's lots of action and strategy between 3 main characters trying to get away from those Tremors (blind monsters from under the ground that try to eat you). What will happen later? Will they come out alive?

The Simpsons (1989– )
Wow!
29 October 2000
I've watched The Simpsons for years and it never gets old! Maybe it's because I'm still a minor but in any case the humor is funny, as are the characters. The Simpsons are a tightly-financed family in where Homer (the father) works at a nuclear plant, Marge (wife) is a housewife, and the kids Bart and Lisa, along with the infant Maggie, who Homer forgets a lot of the time. Homer always does something goofy to screw up the family, which is the beauty of it all. DOH!

Who Wants to Be a Millionaire (I) (1999–2020)
I love it!!
25 October 2000
Regis Philbin is the best host for the best game quiz show of all time. He has enough humor to light up the television sets and he's serious enough to host the game like any other classical show. And the contestants are not all rocket scientists, which is what I like. I saw "Jeopardy!" before I wrote this and the contestants knew things I have never even heard of. However, contestants on Millionaire have ordinary jobs and even ordinary knowledge. And of course, it's geared toward everyone, so that the whole family can play and together. Personally, my favorite is the $1,000,000 question.

Amazing...
17 October 2000
For such an old film, it's a classic everyone has to see, and probably already has. Very few flaws, and a great story line in which Dorothy is put in a magical land with witches, animate scarecrows, talking tin-men, and cowardly lions. Each of the four journey together, each needing something from the Wizard. All dorothy needs is to go home.

Pretty wierd....
24 July 2000
This movie is a good thriller with nice effects but the problem is that hardly any of your questions are answered. My brother and I watched this almost-2.5 hour film and we hardly understood most of it. The ending is the worst, where it just ends; you would need to watch it a second time to fully grasp the concept of the film. For the great effects (such as the fire and acting), this film gets points, but the film didn't answer any questions at the end. 6/10.

A load of laughs!
24 June 2000
I don't know why no one else liked this movie, but I thought it was full of laughs. Deuce Bigalow is a fishtank cleaner who is walking around and finds Antoine, who is a male gigolo. Antoine asks Bigalow to take care of his fish while he goes on a 3-week trip, telling him not to touch his car or his phones.

Since Bigalow makes no money and he starting wrecking Antoine's belongings, he had to pay for it somehow. He eventually became a gigolo like Antoine was.

Bigalow finds clients alright: each one of them have something "wrong" (and funny!) about them. I'll leave it be at that, and I recommend this movie if you want to find out more and have a laugh or 50. Definitely worth a watch.

Ha ha ha ha...
19 June 2000
AP2: The Spy Who Shagged Me was a lot better than AP1 in my opinion. There were a bunch of funny new jokes here, including Dr. Evil's ship, the tent scene, and Mini-me. Mini-me is a really stupid character that is identical to Dr. Evil that is actually meaner than Dr. Evil himself. Though they never explained what "mojo" is, I'm sure it's supposed to mean his motivation on things (such as sex...)

Liar Liar (1997)

No more lies!
19 June 2000
Fletcher (Carrey) has a son named Max. Max is devastated because his father never does anything with him -- he won't even show up for his son's birthday, even after Fletcher promised to be there. This year, Max wishes that for one whole day (24 hours) his dad could not tell a lie.

This lands Fletcher in trouble in the court. The movie has it's funny scenes, including "kicking his own ass" and "I've had better sex." (see the quotes page!)

Big Daddy (1999)

Another great comedy
16 June 2000
Big Daddy was made funny by Adam Sandler. Though some parts were slow and un-realistic, most of the film was fun. Koufax decides to let his "adopted" child do whatever he wants and calls this a new form of parenting. Not knowing how to parent, Koufax tries to clean up after his adopted boy by laying newspapers around.

A different kind of movie
16 June 2000
With everyone having and using the Internet nowadays, one wonders why there are no films about it. Well, have no fear because "You've Got Mail" is one that is based strictly with online chatting. Two business people who both own bookstores open up at the same spot and Joe Fox's (Hanks) reputable book-store takes all the business from Kathleen Kelly's (Meg Ryan) little store.

A nice movie to watch if you are bored, but at times it's slow. 6/10.

The Waterboy (1998)

Slow plot, fun story
16 June 2000
Although the plot of the movie is slow, Adam Sandler makes a great performance as a retarded "WaterBoy." Being around the age of 30, the Waterboy's official job is to hand out water to the players on some football team. You have to see this if you like comedies -- half of the fun of it is that it is so dumb.

Forrest Gump (1994)

Classic Movie
16 June 2000
This film is about a "slow-minded" man who tries to do his best with his life. Living with his mother for most of his life, he met his girlfriend and wife-to-be Jenny when he was a young boy. Forrest (Hanks) soon ends up in the army with exceptional skills at repairing guns and running and saving people. This is a great action movie with a couple of twists in it as well. A must-see.
