A few of the episodes were intriguing (mental illness, body positivity), but VICELAND really dropped the ball hiring this woman (who can't decide on which voice to speak with since 2006) to host. Paris Hilton is about as relevant as a paper plate. I stopped watching the series because I couldn't make it through her monologues. The show is really great for young people that idolize social media influencers, so they can see how desperate and financially strapped they really are behind the filter. (Maybe VICELAND meant this to be an Exposé so it's supposed to be terrible on purpose?)

Vapid and pointless....

We already know Hollywood is a cesspool of the phony and self absorbed. Why does this horrible program need to exist? It's a bunch of brain damaged kids talking about how they want to be rich and famous while the only skills they have are taking selfies and giving oral sex. I couldn't even finish watching the episode titled "Mei and Remy", because it was awful. That one fat stripper talking about all of her sugar daddies made me chuckle for all the wrong reasons. Vice sucks.
xtianarsonist nailed it.

Real Hollywood (if you can make past the first episode)

Each episode centres around a 'creative' individual or duo, trying to make it big in Hollywood. Scene kids, fashion designers, artists, dancers, rappers, strippers, sex workers etc. It seems like what they all have in common is that they're Instagram famous and they go to alot of parties where people pretend they're having a good time on social media. How meta indeed.
Hollywood Love story definitely isn't the story of Paris Hilton, heiress to a billion dollar franchise. I guess she is meant to be the real celebrity, the real fame and represents the success so many strive for when they move to LA. She knows everything they don't. I dont know if I understand (or maybe enjoy) her part in the narrative, as I tend to overlook her pithy hotelroom 2mins commentary at the beginning & end of the episode. Maybe the contrast is intentionally distasteful? What I personally liked about this series was (apart from aesthetics) is that it doesn't shy away from the lived experience. Gritty subjects like poverty, mental health issues, misogyny, sexual assault, drug addiction, to name a few are explored through the voices of likeable, talented, not so talented and annoying *cough Sergi cough* fresh characters to the LA scene. It seems like the underworld of LA chews young people up and spits them out - with or without their big dreams. I feel myself quickly looking up the young characters on IG to see how they're doing now.

Hollywood Mecca for Throwaways

I'm riveted by the stories of these young people with dreams and wondering if the actions they are taking will actually harm their chances for legitimate stardom in the future. With the exception of Spirit Sisters and Maddie(even she does some photo shoots that may come back to haunt her), many of the people profiled seem to come from haunted, painful pasts. Like throwaway children being sucked into the underbelly of California
Sorry if I sound negative. I just worry for many of the people profiled in this show and wonder if anything is done to help them rise up legitimately

A Great Snapshot of Social Media Power

Paris is the perfect host for this show and gives honest commentary. The subjects are all very sad in their own unique way. Each of them is lost and delusional with their view on the world as a whole, but then channel this through their instagram profiles. Most people like this are woven into the endless fabric of the instagram feed. So it's a treat to get up close and personal with these people.
Each episode is relatively short; which is good cause watching too much of this show can become depressing. Bless all these people in their journeys.
