Cutting loose old friends

After a nice retirement dinner for Lt. Michael O'Keefe at which several members of the Reagan family were present, a rather drunk and bigoted Michael O'Keefe shoots a couple of people whom he says were trying to mug him. They happened to be black and O'Keefe has some rather thinly disguised racial attitudes. It's why he works Staten Island and not gone up the NYPD ladder any further though he was one of Len Cariou's favorites back in the day.

There's a new training sergeant Tam Mutu who hits on all the women he's training including Vanessa Ray. That Will Estes takes personally. He deals with it quite nicely with a reunion of sorts.

Marissa Ramirez while canvassing on another case with Donnie Wahlberg gets a nasty blast from the past, spotting a drug dealer who once terrorized her neighborhood and she saw kill a kid while she was a kid. He's still got his neighborhood terrorized, but now she's a detective. Payback can get nasty.

All the plot elements in this Blue Bloods story come together well.

Warning: Spoilers
Janko and other female officers have been sexually harassed by their sergeant commander. Jamie finds out about this and knowing Jamies, he shall do something about it.

A cop well known and respected retires due to the mandatory age of retirement rule only to come upon a robbery in a subway and in front of witnesses, not only shoot the culprit but he also wounded an innocent African American student attempting to come to his assistance. Seems it is well known to many that the cop had racist tendencies and that's why Frank had transferred him to Staten Island years before.

The subject of racist officers was handled decently in this episode.

A gangster moves back to a neighborhood where he had murdered a young man ten years before. Out of fear, no one came forward to say what they had witnessed. Danny's partner saw what had happened, but even now as an adult and police officer, she hesitates in saying what she saw as her family still lives in the family.

At first I couldn't understand why this cast added such a stupid woman to be Danny's partner..then I realized..its all about trying to make Danny look like a BETTER . Not the hothead, unattractive, bald short guy that he is. He NEEDS a partner that looks like she "adores"him..that can't speak without sounding like she just learned English or is a deaf person sounding out her words. She's too " timid"to deal with a bully from her childhood but she wears a Detective badge??She always sounds timid and whiney. Odd that her mother speaks English more clearly than she does.. not such a stilted way of putting together sentences. And those stupid looking BANGS! She really met the cast call for pleasant stupid sounding partner with a completely ugly hairdo.
