Warfare and thriller movie filled with suspense , drama , tension and rapidly paced
ma-cortes8 September 2013
Frenetic action , chases , car crashes , shootouts , explosions and thrills in Irak war and Galicia . This stirring as well as fast-moving movie deals with Pablo (Alberto Ammann) , he is a Spanish army doctor sent on a peace mission to Diwaniya , Iraq , where is the Spanish base during the 2004 war . In a routine out his convoy is attacked in the desert . He and his friend Diego (Antonio De La Torre) manage to take refuge in an empty house , but they are caught in a conflict that puts their lives in danger . Wounded Pablo then returns A Coruña , Spain , and finds his wife (Imma Cuesta) and son .

This exciting movie contains thrills , noisy action , intrigue , spectacular car pursuits , war and intense drama . Warfare movie along with splendid thriller filled with surprises and flashbacks and being compellingly realized . Other chief excitements about the picture , will be in the intervention of a good plethora of Spanish actors who realize professionally competent interpretations such as Alberto Ammann of ¨Cell 211¨ , ¨Antonio De La Torre of "A Sad Trumpet Ballad" , Imma Cuesta of ¨Red Eagle¨ and Karra Elejalde of "Timecrimes" . The moving story and exciting screenplay was well written by Javier Gullón and the same Daniel Calparsoro , being based on Fernando Marías' novel . Although clichés run through-out , the enjoyable tale is enhanced for interesting moments developed among main characters and especially on their intense relationship giving place the upsettings moments when the main protagonists are attacked , pursued and besieged in Irak . Thrilling musical score by Lucas Vidal , a magnificent young composer who has composed for Hollywood , such as ¨Fast and furious 6¨ , ¨Vanishing on 7th Street¨ and ¨The Raven¨. Colorful and evocative cinematography by Daniel Aranyó who has also worked in Hollywood as ¨High School Musical ¨ saga and subsequently photographed ¨Combustion¨ for Daniel Calparsoro . Gorgeous photography being filmed on location in A Coruña, Galicia, Madrid, and Irak scenes shot in Fuerteventura, Canary Islands, Lanzarote, Canary Islands, Spain .

This is another superbly powerful Warfare/thriller movie being stunningly directed Daniel Carlparsoro . It was compellingly realized by Calparsoro in similar vein to ¨Warriors¨ or ¨Guerreros¨ , another warlike film brilliantly made by Daniel and dealing with ¨Kosovo¨ war. Daniel was raised in Donostia , for that reason most films are set in Basque country . Daniel uses to work with his spouses , as his first wife , Najawa Nimri composes his scores and played in Salto a Vacio , Pasajes , Asfalto , A Ciegas ; and his second one , Patricia Vico , performed in La Ira . Calparsoro is an expert on action and violent dramas , such as : 2013 Combustion also starred by Albert Ammann , 2012 Invasor , 2005 Ausentes , 2000 Asfalto , 1997 A Ciegas ,1996 Pasajes , 1995 Salto a Vacío .

Lost Chance to Make a Good Movie
claudio_carvalho31 January 2015
In 2004, Spanish military doctors Pablo (Alberto Ammann) and Diego (Antonio de la Torre) are in humanitarian mission in Iraq. After a terrorist attack on the road, Pablo and Diego seek refugee in a house in a small village. Pablo is forced to kill a teenager and his father in self-defense and he faints seriously wounded. He awakes in a hospital in Spain and soon he goes home with amnesia to be with his wife Ángela (Inma Cuesta) and daughter Pilar. A man called Baza (Karra Elejalde) seeks Pablo out and gives a contract of confidentiality for him to sign; in return, his family and he would be financially supported by the Spanish army. However Pablo blames himself for the death of the Iraqi teenager and his father and he wants to recollect what happens. He meets Diego and finds the truth about the incident. What will be his attitude?

"Invasor" is a thriller with great beginning and development, but also with awful simplistic conclusion. Daniel Calparsoro lost the chance to make a good movie, but decided to include car chase and an incoherent conclusion that spoil the movie. Pablo releases the video to the press and then he is hunted down through the streets with car crashes; his friend dies; he knows the names of the conspirators; but the fake footage prevails and he goes to prison in a democratic country in a ridiculous and pointless ending that does not work. My vote is five.

Politics

War is not something that is easily told or what happens there. And this happens to depict a very strong case of what can happen in war time. It's one man trying to do the right thing after the fact. It's touching a few subjects and quite a few are difficult to answer (as in what would the viewer have done).

The war scenes are really well shot and the action too. Of course once you see the wife (wonderfully played), you do wonder why someone would leave her to go fight anywhere. Doesn't make sense unless he had to go (drafted). She also raises a few points. One of the bad guys is a very well known Spanish actor some might have seen in other movies too. Overall a very well made political drama with good action scenes.

True Hero
seularts21 April 2013
I have to say, I don't like war movies, simply because they are predictable and they all look alike, but this is way way different than I would have anticipated.

For once, a true hero as portrayed as he should be, a man with prejudices and a sense of the moral. This guy goes through hell and back and admits to his mistake, even when he is place in the position of a man with temporary amnesia. To make the right thing in a situation like his, that in my opinion means to be a real hero.

And of course we have the American factor, that is shown in it's true nature, the violent and suppressing power that it is. The true crime belong to the invaders not to the invaded. So the message is loud and clear and should spark some of the brighter people out there what reality is all about (a deformed truth).

I give it a 10/10 just because it's original and the plot is so well written that it rely makes you think, it can't get more real than this.

Better than I was at first afraid of.

Warning: Spoilers
I was a little scared of wasting my time, before the viewing of this film. The usual tale of the good guy who wants to bring justice against all the no less evil villains. OK, this remains this in resume, but the development is not very like the US productions. And from Spain, I found it interesting, but certainly not in the American way. I know UK gives us good stuff in this kind of topics, and most of them not released in France, except straight to DVD, but not on the big screen.

So, back to this one, we may find some clichés, but not all long the movie. We can compare it from time to time to JASON BOURNE series, in the action sequences for instance. But actually in ONE sequence, just one. And speaking of this scene, I think it was useless. THis sequence did not make it besides the rest of the movie. This is not made for being an action film. It could have been as efficient without this sequence, the famous car chase, in the end. This sequence is very well made, although. But keep in mind that the lead is just an ex soldier and not a NANY SEAL, as Jason Bourne!!! But this doesn't lessen the quality of the feature.

A good try from Spain.
