Nice finale but EZ's 180 gave me whiplash
nookies-2384915 June 2022
He was originally the rat and the most self-righteous goody two shoes one of the gang. He went from that to cold blooded, power hungry murderer in like 2 episodes LOL like what?

Twisted -
GuardDawgz25 June 2022
Very good show, but to bring back Isaac as a member of Sons of Anarchy is pathetic, he was a junkie living with other junkies and Coco shot him dead, so why bring him back?..smh.

Getting on the way of SOA
danielcereto16 June 2022
I loved the season finale getting EZ closer to the worst version and transformation from Jax Teller of SOA. I hope next season will be the culmination of EZ character from heaven to hell, and keep getting as dark as masterful Jack's Teller from SOA.

Pretty good but certain character's actions seem forced
sumtim3s00n15 June 2022
Warning: Spoilers
I can kinda buy EZ becoming this tough no nonsense dude with Gabby being the final straw, maybe even Alvarez deciding to say no to the cartel business that would bring millions despite aside from his fatherly "saving from themselves" he had ZERO alternatives to offer. Wth would the MC even do then, sell lemonade by the road ?

But what bothered me most this last episode was Angel burning the warehouse with the dope. That was 100% forced unrealistic written action trying to forcefully prolongue strife, issues between brothers and in general conflicts. Artificially generating drama. No sane MC member would EVER do that.

Also what would he accomplish ? Angel isnt stupid. This being rationalized by some ridiculous "trying to save EZ from himself" just does not hold water one tiny bit nor it is beliveable.

Never mind the danger of doing it, he would also NOT be helping EZ/MC at all, especially not to change back or get away from the MC. Only put him in harms way and dire straits. If anything it would infuriate EZ even more which is the opposite of helping. EZ is already raging, this would make him desperate. The worst combo.

Also the Galindo/father confrontation. Horrible writing. And he was (both were) written so well in the past. He does NOTHING to lift all that fury/trauma/regret burden from Galindo's shoulders and explain at least partially about his mother. He just skips that and reveals theyre family. These are not the same writers. They used to write realistically which is why this show was so good, and in the past this convo would be different, the father would DEFINITELY try to console his son. Remember him with EZ/Angel? He had big heart. But these writers now, they write only for drama and conflict...

Not the same show anymore.

Tig is back!
przepizdziecki15 June 2022
Warning: Spoilers
I didin't expect so great surprise! Tig was my favourite charakter and it would be awesome to see him longer in Mayans. Now when the war between two old clubs started it should be more SoA character appear.

Mayans becomes The Godfather
dmoose-7673419 May 2023
Warning: Spoilers
This episode is very similar to The Godfather. EZ's transition from a sympathetic character to an evil one is like Michael's transition. Nothing could be clearer than when EZ walks away from Angel and into the next room, where the now subordinate gang members pay homage to him. Compare that to when Michael tells Kay he did not kill Connie's husband. She walks out, looks back into Michael's office and sees Michael's now subordinates kiss his ring. Then in both this episode of Mayans and The Godfather, the door closes, shutting out Kay in the Godfather and Angel in Mayans. This scene bowled me over!

trentynichols16 June 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Not so much a detail review. But the light speed of his transformation in this season can only be explained but the show not being picked up yet and they have gone all in to get the renew. But definitely one entertaining last two episodes. Hopefully see where they take the new Pres if they get another season.

Not Even Tiggy could save this dumpster fire.... Warning: Spoilers
I'll be honest, when I saw Tig I was giddy with nostalgia and watching him be his creepy unhinged self gave me all the warm fuzzies. His scenes are perfect. If you turn off your brain the episode by itself isn't completely awful but the moment you really think about everything this season had to offer, you realize this season finale fits right in with the mountain of contrived dog crap that is made possible either from amnesia or people just being straight up incompetent.

Let's start with our old friend Alvarez: overall his character makes sense; he's older, wiser, and less likely to jump to violence. He has a family and he is looking at his family and considering the weight of his decisions and the path he chose in life. All perfectly fine. But why, as the flippin president, would you not immediately tell your club that the reason a bunch of members died was because a woman in the clubhouse found a Sons body on their property and went and told the Sons resulting in the deaths of many including their beloved Coco??It seems to me he should've immediately vetted all the girls and realized the rat may have been responsible for more than the start of the war since Sons keep conveniently showing up places they mention in earshot of everyone in the clubhouse. It seems to me that the whole room of revenge fueled murderers might stop murdering for a moment once they realized the whole thing popped off because a non-member in their clubhouse ratted them out to their rivals for something they didn't realize happened. But no, he halfway tried to tell them and is interrupted and so immediately gives up on conveying vital info that easily could've changed everyone's mind on how to proceed.

Now let's talk about the club:It's like everyone including Bishop have completely forgotten that EZ was basically the reason the entire Mayan civil war started; if he hadn't stroked Bishop's ego with the "one king" talk they wouldn't have been stupid enough to try to cut their own members out of profits inciting a perfectly understandable reaction: you and them are in a club of murdering psychopaths greedy for money of course they are gonna do something when you try to take away their livelihood behind their back. He blows Canche's brains out who had every right to be a little sore at Ez, who friggin tried to blow the guy up almost killing him and his child and partially blinded the kid in the process. And then EZ thinks he can just call it good, water under the bridge? You Killed him because the guy isn't interested in being friends and threatened you clearly out of vitriol for you handicapping his flesh and blood;can you really blame him for being a little mad? So now a fatherless and partially blind child.cool.

Killing the ex-con threatening to turn him in was a perfectly understandable response; the guy is blackmailing you for work, that's a slippery slope if you give in to that so i say mostly justified. But he could've easily threatened Gabby, told her that he will go kill the security guard's family too if she rats on Angel. Still an evil douche move but better than blowing her brains out after trying to persuade her for 2 minutes; or better yet, not shoot up a hospital to cause that whole situation. You can't keep insisting this guy is some kinda genius and then have him make so many incomprehensibly stupid decisions and do a complete 180 on character and motivation without any real believable reason. Also I don't know if the writers realize :EZ can be a sadistic murdering psycho like his father and also not be an idiot. I'm ok with EZ going that dark route just have it make sense.

I don't believe a bunch of seasoned members are just gonna get behind EZ (who was a prospect not too long ago) being Pres with how much damage EZ has caused directly and indirectly. And honestly it doesn't make sense how it came to that. What happened to the club vote? Why does voting for war mean the president steps down? The Killswitch rule is a stupid rule and a borderline retcon invented solely to make this nonsense possible. Last I heard, based on how these things usually work, the members vote on major decisions and the president is forced to acknowledge and respect democracy, not pass the torch to the guy whose simply saying "drugs and money good, kill people". Plus how does he just become president without a vote? Trying to pretend EZ is somehow worse than Angel, who we saw kill multiple people and even mutilate bodies without a shred of remorse oh and banged his brothers barely legal daughter in that brothers house days after his murder is laughable. What,Angel didn't kill a small animal so somehow his murders and crappy actions are forgotten? Miss me with that ish it's so contrived! Its not even that I hate EZ; EZ spontaneously became a completely different character for no reason and just became a murdering, greedy, incompetent, power hungry sociopath whose solution to every problem is to shoot it in the head; there's nothing compelling about that it isn't believable.

Now let's talk about where everything completely folds in on itself for the sake of contrivance. You are gonna sit there and try to tell me that between the cartel and the club that nobody was posted at the warehouse where millions of dollars of drugs are being stored?!You have to be messin with me! Not even a friggin 'Ring' camera on the door?! It's 2022! Nope, nothing at all, so a random person can come set the whole thing on fire because they all left it completely unguarded that is such BS that would never happen the cartel and club would've had armed killers and cameras EVERYWHERE it's so incredibly dumb the writers should be ashamed. Please let season 5 be it. I'm gonna watch it I can't help it but please stop the pain. Let EZ break the neck of this complete farse of a completely contrived storyline and end it's suffering. Not even Tiggy could save this dumpster fire....

Neron and the Coco story line is only thing good
buenooo1918 June 2022
Warning: Spoilers
I dont know what to say... its super weak. How is EZ all of a sudden this maniac hell bend on murder and world domination....... its so unbelieveable and feel extremely forced. Oh he is the fu cking President now??? Convenient Kill switch huh?

Only reddeming arc in this entire season is Coco, his daughter and gf. How Leticia and Hope connect.

And Neron outsmarting the feds to take all the blame was beautiful as well.

But thats it. Underwhelming.

change this series for the better in S5
rodrigoaires-7769117 July 2022
It's going to be so satisfying to see this EZ die. Weak part of the series, a lot of winding, very boring, I can't stand these stories of him anymore, he wants to be the bad guy, but he lives in a trailer.

It must go back to what it was, Mayans vs. Other difficulties, not always this nonsense against the Sons or Mayans vs. Mayans.

Extremely unlikable characters
mrsazz12 July 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Violent heroin-trafficking lowlifes with absolutely no moral code, spending all of their waking hours destroying everything they touch. Why should we care what happens to them? Why wouldn't we cheer for them all to die in their sleep? I don't know or care if this gets renewed for another season. I won't be watching. Even if watching morally reprehensible animals could be interesting, the writing and the extreme quick change of direction just seems forced and fake. As long as this show is named Mayans and JD Pardo is one of the main characters, my inner hope of seeing all of them wiped out either by SOA or law enforcement will never be answered anyway, so there is no point for me to continue watching. So disgusted that this is considered entertainment these days.

A serous drop in the writing standards.
richard-3550626 August 2023
Warning: Spoilers
EZ's speech on taking over the chapter was borderline infantile.

The death of JJ not much better as part of the incoherent attempt to make EZ Satan.

Not to be undone. Adelina is also turned from revolutionary to a contract killer in some right on display of girl power.

Only redeeming part was Felipes revelation to Miguel.

But to make sure no idiocy was left out. A lone man, presumably Angel, then gets to an unguarded warehouse contains millions in heroin and burns it. Burning is obviously a good thing but pathetically stupid to suggest it was that easy to destroy.

Such a disappointing finale.

Like chewing old gum...
spearhawk-1770624 June 2022
Warning: Spoilers
After wathing the last episode I am left with a feeling like "is this all?".... its like revving and engine all season long and teasing with a good war between SoA and Mayans, and then when it finally seems to get to the good parts...the season is over.

Who plans these things? I could do less with the flittering of non-mayans people and concentrate more on developing the storyline on the main people.

To me this was like chewing old gum, it tastes good first few hours but after 10th hour of building and building it is not worthwhile anymore.

Season 4 an FU to Kurt Sutter
demophon22 June 2022
Warning: Spoilers
It feels that the new writers goal was to take the characters Kurt Sutter created and flip them a complete 180 degrees. The Mayan characters we have cared about have all flipped or been sidelined. EZ has been turned into an unlike able a-hole. Adelita and Emily an afterthought. Coco killed. They have also taken the Sons from flawed characters you wanted to cheer for hateful caricatures.

The show remains entertaining, well written, marvelously acted but it feels that the entire point of the season was to reverse everything KS did both with this show and SOA in terms of story and character building.
