PENULTIMATE EPISODE
alcantaraj-1659415 December 2021
Warning: Spoilers
"Hawkeye's" 5th episode is easily the best episode of the series yet: with great action, shocking (and some obvious) reveals and cliffhanger that made me say "Okay, I need to watch Netflix's "Daredevil" now." It's also great to see that watching "Black Widow" wasn't entirely pointless.

Great episode and all the pieces now on the board
namob-4367315 December 2021
Another really great episode and I am already starting to feel that this show is too short. The other, pretty horrible, shows suffered because they were too long, but Hawkeye however could have been 2-3 more episodes no problem.

This week lovely reveals and all the plot lines moving forward, great fight scenes, great acting and very very well done. My only concern is, as mention above, that I cannot see how they can tie it all together in one final episode. There is way too much to summerise and conclude to fit into 45min.

Nothing bad and nothing to complain about. The only reason for the 9 instead of 10 is because it lacked that oumph that 10/10 episodes have. This is a great TV show and one of the best things Marvel has done, it will be sad to see it end next week but I hope this continues in one form or the other. Hailee Steinfeld, who was my main concern beforehand, is excellent and she will definitely carry the torch moving forward. This entire show smells, look, and acts like it is the best of the best which it almost is. Production value so high and great.

Lovely episode, and if you belong to those that have not seen this show yet, it is time to do so. This is Marvel at it best.

What the Black Widow movie should have done
eelcostuy15 December 2021
This series gives us more of the relationship between Clint and Natasha, something that I wished to have seen more of in the BW movie. Yelena might turn out to be a nice addition, but we have to see where the finale takes it. I just hope it will be a satisfying one, since there's so much to wrap up and this episode just added more into the mix. So far, I really like the series and I'm happy we get to see the guy that Clint is. And yeah, I'm pretty stoked about that little big ending in this episode!

Actions Speak Louder Than Words
solojere15 December 2021
Yes! I am so excited. Everything about this episode was amazing. The opening with Yelena was incredible. I kind of think it would've been a better post-credit scene for Black Widow than what we got in the movie. However, I think it works perfectly here as an opening to this episode, and it really sets the tone for the rest of the episode. Also, seeing Kate Bishop and Yelena Belova together was super cute. The two characters have fantastic chemistry, and they really play well off each other. I honestly could watch an entire episode of those two just hanging out and talking. Hailee Steinfeld and Florence Pugh defiantly need to have more projects together in the future. It was also great seeing Hawkeye in action again. Jeremy Renner gives an emotional performance, and I love that his character is getting a chance to shine. Lastly, that ending was epic and exactly what I was hoping for. I can't believe there is only one episode left, and while I have no idea what's coming, I can't wait.

The end is nigh
GomezAddams66615 December 2021
Warning: Spoilers
Five episodes down, and I am still excited for this series as I was with the premiere.

When you think you have everything figured out a new twist comes in, and this s a gigantic one, that although many of us saw coming, it was astounding nevertheless.

Not only does Wilson Fisk makes his triumphant entry into the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but it also takes inspiration from the comic book pages as to his role in Maya's father demise.

And eager to play this twisted game is Yelena Bolova, who blames Clint for her sister's dead.

The ending is bound to be a crescendo.

The story continues putting everything in place for an explosive finale
harry-3451815 December 2021
This episode is more about tying up loose ends and putting everyone in place for the finale. The directing here is great as always with a really strong opening scene to the episode. Kate and Yelenas conversation was amazing florence ought acting is just perfect here. My only concern is it feels like there's it going on in the show there's so many themreads I hope they can bring it all together. THAT ENDING THO.

WTF! Breathtaking
imptsir15 December 2021
Nobody gave Hawkeye that much of a chance amongst all these Disney plus shows but it is now my number one MCU show. I am gonna watch it at least 5 times. This is BREATHTAKING!

I have been waiting for him to show up all the goddamn episode and just when i thought maybe all those fan theroies and speculations were BS, there he is - the same goddamn work of art. Thank-you Marvel and Feige! Love you loads, this is a dream come true for every marvel fan. This stuff is emotional af - i am flying high at the moment, lol!

Shocker!
wetmars15 December 2021
Warning: Spoilers
This was definitely a big improvement from the last episode. Even though, it wasn't bad. I was worried that the producers would rush the ending as the show has six episodes, but the plot line in this episode was paced well-done. It was fun seeing Kate & Yelena interacting together. They have gorgeous chemistry and a good sense of humor! Although, I will admit when they meet for the second time. I was expecting them to fight, but instead have a discussion. So unexpected! Yelena is such a fun and delightful character I adore.

I feel so bad for Clint in this one. He realizes that his long-lost friend's sister is going to hunt him down for revenge. His family is threatened and decided to become Ronin again for a moment. The fight action scene between Ronin & Echo was very cool, and the moment where he gave a "speech" to Echo was wonderfully well-done.

"But if you or anyone comes after me or my family, it will be the last thing you do. You have my word. We're weapons. But when you're filled with rage, it makes you blind. It could be used, could be manipulated."

It was also great seeing Clint & Kate reuniting at the end. Now the moment that we were waiting for, it was revealed to us that the same Kingpin (( arguably )) has come to town! I hate to admit this, but I haven't seen Daredevil, but I have been exposed to Kingpin content like Into the Spider-Verse & the PS4 Spider-Man game. It is about time to catch up on Daredevil, but what a shame I can't catch up in a week. I might start doing reviews of it. Kate calling back Clint was another hilarious scene. She was not giving up, lol. I loved the way how she said "It's over."

10/10.

Fantastic Episode!
rallder1915 December 2021
I don't want to give away any spoilers but I will say that the show has kept me entertained from episodes 1-4.. but this episode alone made this one of the best MCU shows out currently.. I would say it's second only to Loki.

100% amazing. 10/10.

Black Widow makes more sense now
moviesfilmsreviewsinc15 December 2021
Warning: Spoilers
Episode 5 of Marvel's Hawkeye, "Ronin", finally let most of our intrepid not-quite-heroes discover that they are just pawns in a bigger game between some very strategic players. It also saved its last shot for the reveal that fans of Netflix's Daredevil have been waiting for: the return of Vincent D'Onofrio's Wilson Fisk aka Kingpin, in his very first MCU appearance. But before that, some conversations needed to be had, and these extended chats occasionally found me checking the remaining episode time. Not because I was bored - far from it - but because I felt like my brain needed some kinda additional confirmation that this installment of the series was actually planning to spend most of its penultimate episode building tension, rather than releasing it. As Hawkeye informed us from the start, this isn't about another MCU apocalypse. It's not the end of the world. It's about family, and what you're willing to do for them and without them. "Ronin" takes the time to fill in some Black Widow gaps. We go back in time to 2018 and join Yelena's ongoing mission to free other widows around the world. It shows us what happens when she is stolen away by The Snap (those dustings aren't getting any less upsetting) and when Yelena returns, Natasha is dead. We already know that Valentina has pinned her demise on Clint, but even though "Ronin" has Kate trying to put a justifiable seed of doubt in Yelena's mind about Clint's guilt, I suspect it's already there - if Yelena really wanted swift vengeance for Natasha's death, she probably wouldn't need a sweet little payday from Eleanor Bishop to get the job done. As we head into Hawkeye's finale, some murky truths have finally come to light and Ronin is no longer waiting in the shadows. He is a part of Clint's soul that he can never kill - a monster than he and his family must live with until his dying breath, and perhaps beyond. The mystery of the Avengers Compound Rolex watch once again takes a backseat in this episode, but that's ok. If the breadcrumbs of Clint and Laura's past lead to where I think they're leading, Clint won't be the only one coming home for Christmas.

Lost my attention
JohnWido18 December 2021
Overall the episode was good with great fighting scenes and good visual shots, also some exiting reveals that makes me want to see the big finale even more!

But there were some moments they lost me. The long conversation in the beginning between two major characters felt of and a bit unnessesary. Also like I said before there were good action scenes, but just too little. Other boring scenes I allready forgot just couldn't get my attention.

Interested what will happen in episode 6 and what cameos we may get...

OK but nothing spectacular
breathedirt15 December 2021
Warning: Spoilers
The first half was just boring talking (they tried to make the conversation between Kate and Yelena funny but it was forced and awkward - I, especially, hated the fake Russian accent that Americans like to put in their movies). In the second half, the only interesting part for me was the fight between Ronin and Echo including the revelation about her father's murder (even in the comics she went after Kingpin after she found out that he was behind her father's murder) and also the introduction of Vincent as Kingpin.

Nobody is making logical decisions
tjbrian-7864315 December 2021
Warning: Spoilers
I know we watch tv to be entertained and it's not supposed to be real, but nobody makes a rational decision in this show which completely looses my interest. Yelana has a burning hatred for Clint over something that will be chalked up to be a "miscommunication." Yelana visits Kate and acts friendly for no rational reason besides some writer thought it would be good for us to see Yelana being funny. Not only does Maya go hand to hand in a fight with Clint but then he reveals who he is to her? Why? If his family and their safety really is his top priority it makes no sense to reveal his identity. If this random girl can go hand to hand with Clint in a fight, what makes him special enough to be an avenger? Obviously the whole show is fake, but without any sense of realism, and characters making illogical decisions it really just seems to loose my interest. Here's to hoping they will really be able to stick the landing with the finale.

I want a Florence Pugh for Christmas
Trey_Trebuchet16 December 2021
Warning: Spoilers
I really dug it.

The "girls night" scene was a lot of fun. Pugh and Steinfeld clearly have some very charming chemistry. I'd imagine working with both of them on this show was a ton of fun. It'll be interesting to see what happens next time Yelena sees Clint.

My favorite scene in the whole episode was definitely the Ronin v Echo fight. I love that Clint seems to still be a good guy, but that a small part of him will always remember how terrible losing his family for five years was. Ronin really will always be a part of him. Telling Echo he'll make sure coming after his family is the last thing she'll do? Goosebumps. That's great writing in my opinion.

Like some others, I am really starting to wonder how everything is going to be tied up with just one episode left. The fact that we're finally going to see VDO as Wilson Fisk again excites me so dang much. It's a dream come true. With that being said, I'm still not sure how this is going to tie up all of these plots, but if it lands well, I'm sure it'll be really, really good. Still, this was a great episode.

Top Viewing... a must see Episode!
ingra8815 December 2021
Warning: Spoilers
As the stories converge so the plot thickens, loose ends are slowly making sense!

Yelana and Kate chat!

Maya is told by Clint who hired him to kill her father Now Maya is having second thoughts about her second in command Kazi and where his allegiance lie!

There is really something great about Florence Pugh, she does not even need to do any physical action to create a great performance!

The scene in BlackWidow when they reunited at the dinner table after more than twenty years! Florence did it there, she totally made that scene her own!

Again 'at the dinner table' with Kate Bishop she did it again.

Kates Mum mixing with shady people as Jack is arrested. Jack is innocent 'the swordsman.'

This episode was absolutely awesome . Seeing Natashas sis was so awesome. But seeing the kingpin was really outstanding. I can't wait to see the next episode next weekend. I have a feeling the kingpin is gonna be a bigger plot to Hawkeye. I hope daredevil appears in the next episode. The mcu is just getting more exciting.

Masterful
tristan_1915 December 2021
Warning: Spoilers
This episode knows how to create suspense and mystery, and puts the players in this wonderful scene where each of them experiences some sort of reveal in one way or the other.

Florence Pugh steals the episode and is fantastic once again. Seeing what happened to Yelena at the moment of the snap, and coming back to a world where Nat is gone was a nice way to begin the episode.

Eleanor is up to no good, and Jack was framed for it. Kate and Yelena talk in a great scene, and Yelena's humor is awesome. Really felt Melina and Alexei's influences, which was great to witness. Hawkeye goes and plants some doubt in Maya's head, and we get some more twists. The show seems to be headed in the direction that Kazi was plotting with Fisk from the get go to get rid of Maya's dad. And finally, Yelena helps Kate seeing the truth.

It was not only a phenomenal penultimate episode, but also one of the best episodes from the MCU tv shows up to date. KINGPIN is here !

Just your typical Marvel but with a Christmas twist
anthonybrodowski15 December 2021
I don't consider this series so far anything other than a simple story we've seen a million times. What it does well is show Clint's story and arc but when it starts focusing on other characters it gets a bit slower. I find the dialogue to be good overall (although some of it doesn't stick), and the acting is as you'd expect, but perhaps Marvel-sclerosis is setting in as it doesn't feel that entertaining after all these years, especially when it hits you with superhero cliches, which ironically this series has attempted to be woke about. Each Marvel series has its quirks, of which I've most enjoyed Loki, due to its ridiculous scale. I feel in these kind of 'grounded' series there is the difficulty of keeping the viewer's interest, due to the low stakes. Attempting to write a human story, they have only managed to make a super-hero lite production.

Overall, this episode rolls along and is over before you know it. There were some emotional scenes which I enjoyed but overall, it is setting up the finale, from which I'm not expecting too much except to say it might introduce a new character.

I give it 7/10, because it flew by which must be a good sign.

P.s. New York has been well portrayed here too, with its magical charm. Perhaps it is the real winner in all of this.

Could have been less slow
mranan16 December 2021
What I think is that after episode 3 it's again getting slow, this episode has not been about hawkeye at all and it's annoying, the fight scene wasn't that great, grounded fights are good but it was just 1 minute, just didn't made any sense at all to give 1 minute fight scene.

i dunno
Lythas_8517 January 2022
Warning: Spoilers
The show had so much potential.. like i said before, it should have been about anybody.. any bad guy who got their kid killed by ronin or whatever and then for some reason, a camera got his face when he took he hood off during the the avengers movie or something like that and then going after his family, maybe even kidnapping them and then if you want to put the new kid in it.. which i think was unnecessary, ok make her help him and introduce as his new protegee to give him something more to do than just nod and be grumpy... but cute and nice with his boring family.

But going back to this one... boring banter between kate and dunno her name natashas sister.. it was a shocker kates mom was the bad guy here, i thought it was the new boyfriend.. anyway, maybe he is too but she is worse

let us see what happens in the next one but i think it will be some quick action scene and maybe clint telling her what really happened to natasha.,.. and maybe some crying by kate when her mother gets it.. may it be getting killed or going to jail.

Melancholy and great speeches.
lucafarina15 December 2021
After watching previous episodes this was a bit undertone, but doesn't mean that was bad. They try to plug plot holes and explore some characters better than before. It was very focused on Natasha, and i like it. I really appreciate Florence Pugh as actress and she deserves every success.

Less action but words make you thinking a lot.

Great revelation at the end.
