10 Stars for Originality.
The Penguin and Marsha, Queen of Diamonds, lock themselves in the Gotham City bank, where a cool 10 million dollars in gold bars awaits their greedy little fingers...
This is one of those episodes where the writing is wild, thanks to Stanford Sherman, who wrote 18 stories for the show. Case in point; the Penguin and his gang use gold bars to build an indestructible tank! And the tank is super cool -- Penguin and Marsha in the top seat taking a little spin through Gotham City at their leisure.
Best scene; the tank crushes a police car with Inspector O'Hara inside. O'Hara manages to escape through an open manhole beneath the car --which means he would have had to cut an escape hatch on the floor of the car to get out?
Carolyn Jones is fun to watch and a way classy dresser. You have to give the wardrobe folks an A-plus here. Her Dance of the Seven Veils is outrageous, including Aunt Hilda (Estelle Winwood) playing the snake-charmer horn!
Keep your eye on the incredible tank, actually chugging around the Warner Brothers back lot, which was also used by 20th Century Fox. If you take the WB Tour, guides always point out some BATMAN filming locations.
Must see TV. SEASON 2 EPISODE 44 remastered color dvd box set/Parts 1 and 2. Released 2015.
