This cat's got nine lives

"Catwoman Goes to College" was shot before "That Darn Catwoman," but was held back due to the release of Lesley Gore's latest single. When viewed first, this makes more sense in that Bruce Wayne has agreed to become Catwoman's parole officer, ensuring her release from prison to make up for being a high school dropout by returning to college at Gotham State University. As one might expect, it's just another ploy to get Batman and Robin out of the way, with henchman Cornell (Paul Mantee) donning cape and cowl to impersonate Batman in a supermarket robbery, while the real Caped Crusader enjoys a soda with Catwoman. New to Gotham City's police force (from Los Angeles) is Captain Courageous (Stanley Adams), who endeavors to arrest Batman for the time being, until Alfred arrives as solicitor Serge Tort, switching costumes to allow his employer to escape. A gathering of students in Chimes Square is where the Dynamic Duo locate Catwoman, once more falling for her ruse of tears, held captive in a rooftop coffee display which has been filled with sulfuric acid: "if you get that searing feeling in your stomachs, it won't be heartburn!" Paul Mantee was no stranger to Adam West, both had starred in the 1964 "Robinson Crusoe on Mars," while David Lewis makes the fifth of his eight appearances as Warden Crichton. The Batclimb cameo is that of Art Linkletter, longtime television emcee and game show magnate, discussing a revival of PEOPLE ARE FUNNY, before realizing that the wall climbing Caped Crusaders would make perfect subjects!

JULIE NEWMAR HAS NEVER LOOKED SO GOOD!
tcchelsey4 December 2022
You have to admit that actress/model Julie Newmar was a knockout, and certainly the right choice to play the slinky Catwoman. Here, the feline villainess has Bruce Wayne to thank as her new parole officer. Conditions of her prison release rest on a promise that she go to college --at none other than Gotham State University-- and become a fine, upstanding student! Look out for a trick! Character actor Paul Mantee is fun as one of the Catwoman's henchwoman who dresses up as Batman and robs a market. Look for loud mouth Stanley Adams (who always reminded me of Fred Flintstone!) playing a cop called Captain Couraegous! Always barging in on Commissioner Gordon. There's also a gag appearance by Art Linkletter as Batman and Robin are climbing the side of the building. Best for the last has the Catwoman giving it back to our heroes as she has them tied up in a giant tea cup near an equally giant coffee pot which will pour boiling water on them. HOLY OWWWCH! The campy sets in this episode are too much, especially the malt shop where Batman and the Catwoman are sipping shakes. Watch Julie Newmar in this scene, as she's funny. Good stuff. SEASON 2 dvd box set.

Hit And Miss Catwoman Two-Parter
StuOz28 April 2018
Catwoman (Julie Newmar) goes to college.

Last week's Joker two-parter was such a knockout...I think I was wanting another knockout with sexy Julie but got this hit-and-miss two-parter instead.

The good bits include Catwoman and Batman drinking together at a table, finding the identity of a criminal with red hair, and a fantastic ending to part two.

The no-so good bits include an annoying French guy who never seems to go away, an annoying cop from LA who drops into Gotham City and Batman making a painfully bad joke about walking under a ladder.

Perhaps my least favourite Catwoman two-parter in the whole series but even a lesser Catwoman show is still well worth a look. Watch it!

Holy jailbird, Batman!
Wes5430 June 2019
Batman is arrested by a transfer Captain from L.A., who apparently doesn't check in with the Commissioner OR the Chief of Police? Really?

Batman is thrown in jail, but isn't fingerprinted, or told to remove his cowl. Really?

From a single strand of hair, Batman determines that their suspect is male, 6' 1 3/4", 36 years old, has flat feet, wears glasses, speaks in a deep voice, and suffers from hay fever. Really?
