Illegitimate, helmed by Adrian Sitaru, is a dark exploration of family that stands along recent notable Romanian titles. The debate over abortion unfolds across the dinner table between a father and children here in Sitaru’s film. Gradually, these beliefs are tested by the acerbic secrets the family has kept for too long. Using only first takes and improvisation, Sitaru has crafted a daring film that pushes his ensemble and the audience into uncomfortable confrontations. We talked to Sitaru about the unique process of making Illegitimate, the jazz-like quality of the film, and how the film is merely the start of a larger conversation about cinema and society.
The Film Stage: Is this your first time in Berlin?

So. What did we learn today, class? Never, ever, ever, ever piss off Rihanna. And definitely don't take her money. Rihanna showed the world (and her accountant) that the last thing you ever want to do is cross her with her explicit, dangerous, Nsfw video for "Bitch Better Have My Money." After watching what she's capable of, we are certain that if we ever found ourselves borrowing money from her we would pay her what we owed her. On time. With interest. Because if you get on RiRi's bad side, this kind of s--t happens: 1. She can make you disappear in the blink of an eye, like some crazy-ass magician. At least she'll spare your dog, so she's not...

The Kelly Clarkson Songbook. That's what we're getting on Wednesday (April 1) night's "American Idol." This is not to question Kelly Clarkson's awesomeness or even the very-goodness of Kelly Clarkson's discography, but there are some people in this "Idol" season who seem like they're going to be well-suited to tonight's theme and other people for home this may be excruciating, especially since the "Idol" voters are back in female-shunning mode this season. Let's see how things go... 8:00 p.m. Et. Greetings from Toronto, where I'm in town visiting the set of "The Strain." Because of timing, I may be pushing my "Survivor" recap to tomorrow morning. But "Idol"? On time! 8:03 p.m. J-Lo Fashion Show Time and she's wearing shorts and a largely concealing top. She still doesn't kneel to greet the crowd. Perhaps the shirt is too billowy. 8:04 p.m. Awwww. Young Kelly Clarkson. How adorable.

Jaden Smith, 16, is almost as well known for his nearly inexplicable tweets as he is for his acting career, while his 14-year-old sister Willow Smith's biggest contribution to the entertainment landscape seems to be the 2010 pop music hit "Whip My Hair."
So, of course, The New York Times Style publication T Magazine felt that this dynamic sibling duo would be just the right people to interview – while overlooking the Pacific Ocean on a chaparral-filled bluff – about all those classic teenage topics such as quantum physics, prana energy and the lucid, often illusive nature of temporal interpretation.

Well, actually, it seems that T Magazine wanted to talk to Will and Jada Pinkett Smith's kids about their music and their creative and collaborative processes. The siblings, however, were much more interested in discussing transcendental meditation.

Jaden and Willow Smith recently agreed to an interview with T Magazine wherein they talked about their latest music endeavors; as you may recall, Jaden has been releasing what might be described as experimental music for the past few months, and Willow, of course, is back after her wildly popular 2010 hit "Whip My Hair." As the brother and sister delve into their creative process, thoughts on education, and more, we couldn't help but scratch our heads and (desperately) try to keep up. Keep reading for the absolute most bizarre quotes from Willow and Jaden's recent interview. From Willow On time: "I mean, time for me, I can make it go slow or fast, however I please, and that's how I know it doesn't exist." On time, continued: "Because living." On what recurs in her work: "The feeling of being like, this is a fragment of a holographic reality that a higher consciousness made.

Um.
Did we break it?
All it took was one week of Star Wars: Episode VII news for me to completely turn around on how I view this production. If you try to form a narrative out of the production so far, all the rumors of infighting and tribulations really make this look like the end, not the pinnacle of Jj Abrams dependability as a blockbuster storyteller.
Somewhere around Alias, he wasn’t the Regarding Henry guy anymore and somewhere around Mi:3 everyone was eating up his storytelling philosophy like the “mystery box.” Then, Super 8 happened and the collective fandom was a bit disappointed in how that movie aped old Amblin movies without successfully planting the heart that made old Amblin films so successful.
Then, George Lucas sold Lucasfilm to Disney and Lucas passed off his notes to Kathleen Kennedy who got Lawrence Kasdan, writer of the Original Trilogy sequels,...

It looks like Supercell is prepping another update for "Clash of Clans." The developer has been sharing some interesting teaser images on the Clash of Clans Facebook page this week, showing off what could be a group of new units heading to the virtual battlefield.
The current teaser image (seen above) introduces us to The Minion, with a brief description reading,"This terrible scourge of the skies was born out of Dark Elixir. Minions rain destruction with ease, but are fragile in our world."
Interestingly, all of the player created units in "Clash of Clans" (aside from the recently introduced Barbarian King and Archer Queen) require Elixir, but based on this teaser it sounds like players will have to dip into their Dark Elixir reserves to create the Minion.
As you can see, there are two other characters hiding in the shadows. We won't know who, or what, they are...

If you ask me, Sonic the Hedgehog has never been the same since he left the Genesis, but that hasn't stopped Sega from tossing the character in all sorts of games across the major platforms. The latest is "Sonic Dash" for iOS, which sees the Blue Blur doing what he does best, running.
At first glance, "Sonic Dash" may look to be just another "Temple Run," this time with a Sonic the Hedgehog skin, but the game seems to have more in common with "Subway Surfers" than anything else. The reason I say this is because "Sonic Dash" won't have you doing any sideways swiping to make ridiculous 90 degree turns – an aspect of "Temple Run" that's always bothered me for some reason.
The simplicity of the game makes it easy to pick up and enjoy, but it's the familiar setting and characters that really drew me in. The world is undeniably Sonic's,...

On time-consuming Oscar preparation, and living in the Fey and Poehler shadow: “It’s the time commitment I just don’t think I could do again. It will have been almost six months that I’ve been working on this. [Laughs] And I’m still going to get savaged in the press, so… Tina [Fey] and Amy [Poehler] will do it next year and they’ll get rave reviews.” On Beyonce's performance at the Super Bowl: "I like that Sinatra and Dean and Crosby and those guys used to just get up...

On last night’s Downton Abbey season 3 premiere, we saw Mary (Michelle Dockery) and Matthew (Dan Stevens) finally say “I do.” Well, technically, we didn’t: Producers decided not to show the couple’s vows, leaving some fans wanting more. “Funnily enough, we did consider how much of the wedding to show. But I figured that audiences have seen many hundreds of screen weddings and there isn’t much to show of that that’s new,” exec producer Gareth Neame tells EW in an email. “The driving point of the episode was whether Mary and Matthew would hurdle over the...

[1] Since breaking out with Being John Malkovich in 1999, Charlie Kaufman has developed a reputation as one of the most creative, ambitious screenwriters working today. After earning acclaim for projects like Adaptation. and Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, he made his directorial debut in 2008 with the wildly imaginative Synecdoche, New York. He is now working on his second directorial effort, Frank or Francis, and also has a political satire in the works with Spike Jonze attached to direct. BAFTA recently invited Kaufman to talk about his craft as part of a lecture series called "Screenwriters On Screenwriting," and in typical Kaufman style, the resulting talk is honest, philosophical, meandering, and a little bit messy -- in a good way. Hit the jump for highlights and a link to the full video and transcript. We can't embed the video here, unfortunately, but here are a few key quotes from the 40-minute talk.

Here is a video from TheMovieDoc listing the 10 Rules of Movie Going. His video is a great start, but I have a few more to add to the list. First watch the video:
Those rules are all fine and dandy, but I feel a few major rules have been left out. And here they are:
1. Arrive On Time, if not early to the movie - Sometimes seeing the trailers are the best part of the moive. If you are going to have to get food at concessions always make sure you arrive on extra early to leave time for that.
2. Speaking of Food - Clean Up After Yourself. Yes they have a team of theater workers that come in an clean, but why not make their job a bit easier by picking up after yourself.
3. No I will Not move down! - Refer to rule number one and arrive early...

Walt Disney Pictures is developing a time-travel themed feature entitled Time Zones . The Hollywood Reporter has the first word of the project and the news that Marc Guggenheim will provide the screenplay. The pitch for the project is that a global event has separated the Earth's geography into different time periods, meaning that traveling between countries can actually mean traveling between centuries, reaching the intended location but in a different era. The plot then deals with a man who must work with his daughter to attempt a journey to the past in order to save his wife. Guggenheim most recently scripted Green Lantern for Warner Bros. and is set to tackle another DC Comics property with The Flash . On Time Zones , he'll be working with producer Mark Gordon who, in...

Wilson, Brewster, and Koko are on board for six episodes on this DVD release, and they're some of the best from the show. The talking trains offer up a good mix of fun, pure entertainment, and messages focused on social skills, and all of it comes together in a show that kids love.

Wow, talk about a bag full of crazy being unleashed in the Big Brother house tonight... Or should we call it an 'ego overdose?'
Tonight's Big Brother displayed just how scared the last remaining Vets (sans Daniele) are after Brendon left the house last Thursday, which means they will turn to the only tool they have left for their survival: intimidation! With that said, at least the Vets are paying close attention to the new twist in the game involving this week's evicted houseguest getting a second chance to come back into the house, because that is really crucial to everyone's game play this week.
While Kalia and Daniele celebrated Kalia's Hoh win, the house was kind of falling apart all around them. Porsche was given the evil eye by Jeff, because she paired Shelly and Jeff up against each other during the competition, which set off the Vet's...

New York comedian Catie Lazarus has more than dabbled in web series before, popping up as a Barely Political correspondent or as a reverse -therapist and host of YourTango’s On The Couch with Catie Lazarus. But now we get a peek into the devilishly candid and inventive mind of the young performer with her first original series, The On Time Show with Petunia Van De Twirp. With a setup somehwere close to the Late Night show for the Toy Story gang, puppet host Petunia is the Conan of the stuffed animal kingdom. Voiced (and written) by Lazarus, Petunia’s opening monologue breezes through self-deprecating one-liners cutting quickly over to a very real crank call segment with everything from Virgin Atlantic to Best Buy and Budget Rental Car. There’s a silent film bit after that—Petunia’s somewhat racy run-in with her bedroom beau Senator Bear—followed by a...

On Wednesday (June 8), Ja Rule turned himself in to begin serving a two-year sentence on a gun charge stemming from his 2007 arrest in New York City. Although some rappers have endured a sentence as a mere bump in their careers (Lil Wayne, for instance), Ja Rule's bid arrives almost seven years since his last official album, R.U.L.E., and just as his Pain Is Love 2 has been delayed.
Ja had initially planned to deliver PIL2 the day before starting his jail term, but according to his longtime collaborator 7 Aurelius, Rule postponed the release after deciding it hadn't been completed to his satisfaction.

Loleatta Holloway has died at the age of 64. According to SpinningSoul, manager Ron Richardson confirmed that the singer passed away yesterday after a brief illness. Richardson linked to the story from his official Twitter page, adding, "Rip Loleatta Holloway". He had previously posted messages about her health and had thanked fans for their support. Holloway started as a gospel singer before moving into soul and then disco. She was best known for hits including 'Hit and Run', Salsoul Orchestra's 'Runaway' and 'Love Sensation', which was later heavily sampled by Black Box for the first mix of their 1989 hit 'Ride On Time'. The track was also used by Marky Mark and the Funky Bunch for their 1991 single 'Good Vibrations', which credited Holloway as a featured artist. (more)...

The Beasties, who I refuse to call 'boys' for obvious reasons, have picked a date for their coming album, Hot Sauce Committee Pt. 2. The LP is set to drop on May 3rd. After Pt. 1 was delayed due to Adam Yauch's bout with cancer, the group decided to skip it in favor of releasing the second installment on time. This past October, on their official site, they wrote, loudly: Although We Regret To Inform You That "Hot Sauce Committee Part 1" Will Continue To Be Delayed Indefinitely, "Hot Sauce Committee Part 2" Will Be Released On Time As Originally Planned In Spring Of 2011 Well, Spring 2011 is approaching and they plan to deliver. "Minor setback for a major comeback."
-Rapper Ja Rule, tweeting about the plea deal he cut that will send him to prison for two years. Rule appeared in a Manhattan courtroom on Monday morning (December 13) to make the deal that stemmed from a gun bust in July 2007. According to the terms of the deal, Rule plead guilty to attempted criminal possession of a weapon, which is a class D felony in the second degree. That particular charge could have resulted in a seven year sentence for Rule, but because of the deal, he'll likely be behind bars for 16 months or so and will then be under some sort of supervision for another 18 months.
The case originated in July 2007, when Ja Rule performed alongside Lil Wayne and the Cash Money Millionaires at New York City's Beacon Theater. Rule's vehicle was pulled over shortly after the show, and police found a loaded...

Cast: Diane Lane, John Malkovich, Margo Martindale, Scott Glenn
Running Time: 1 hr 54 mins
Rating: PG
Release Date: October 8, 2010
Plot: A housewife (Lane) takes over the stables from her ailing father (Glenn) and thinks she has a triple crown winner in a new horse they eventually call Secretariat.
Jake’s Take on his interview with Diane Lane of Secretariat
When it comes to junket interviews, there are pretty much two types — one big honkin’ junket that usually takes place in Los Angeles or New York City or a regional tour in which usually one or two members of the cast travel around the country to different television markets in an attempt to cover more ground and allow for more journalists to participate. The latter option is becoming a rare commodity, and while the down side is that you often times don’t get all of the talent that you want,...

On Time 100 day, we get to do quite a bit of navel gazing in the media world. While the gem of the columns may be the revelation that Ted Nugent wants Sarah Palin for his band, there is plenty of other great stuff through the biographies. Still, the best part of the spreads could very well be the other voices recruited to discuss leaders in media and the world, not just normal columnists and editors at Time.

Over the last couple seasons on Heroes, we've been extremely tough on the character of Hiro - and for good reason.
The NBC drama has utterly destroyed this once-entertaining, once-intriguing individual. He's now reduced to an immature idiot that confusingly travels through time and makes selfish, irrational decisions (way to break open your dad's safe last season, dude!).
This criticism is no reflection of Masi Oka, though, who continues to do the best with the material he's given. The actor spoke to Fancast this week about the storylines to come as Heroes heads toward a season - and, likely, series - finale.
In the interview, Oka admits that the show changes it rules on time traveling each season, a major criticism TV Fanatic has had of the show...

It's New Year's Eve, so most of you will either be unconscious in a bar bathroom by 8:30, or sitting at home on your living rooms, where you may or may not be drinking, but you will almost definitely be wearing pajamas and flipping channels like monkeys trained to punch a button until a treat comes out of a hopper. I am one of those in the latter category, because partying is hard work and I'm old and tired, just like the rest of my homies in the nursing home.
Anyway, there are Lots of reruns and basketball on tonight, but we're not going to talk about any of that, because nobody cares about reruns and I don't care about basketball (what? I'm the most important!). Instead, let's discuss the mindless drivel we'll be watching until we all fall asleep on our sofas around 11:45pm. Then when we wake up,...

I feel as if destiny has connected me with Jason Reitman's latest movie, the high-flying dramedy Up in the Air. I just finished a long week at Fantastic Fest, where I saw George Clooney star in another film, The Men Who Stare at Goats. I also just started planning to cover next month's Austin Film Festival, where Up in the Air is the closing night film. And to top it all off, I've been to the Austin-Bergstrom International Airport twice today, transporting various Fantastic Fest house guests who were flying home. Needless to say, I am ready to see this theatrical trailer.
