Not nearly up to snuff.

This work shows just how good those old time Warner Bros. animators really were. The comic timing here is way off, I did not even crack a simile watching this. The jokes are more likely to elicit groans than laughs. The lesson is that if you're going to use these great characters, be sure to put some talent behind them.

It's watchable, but Daffy has done much better
TheLittleSongbird7 December 2013
Daffy is one of Looney's best and funniest characters, as well as one of the most popular. Daffy Flies North is neither among his best or worst(the worst of his outings with Speedy), instead it falls into the watchable but lacklustre category. The animation and gags are hit and miss. The colours are varied and lush-looking and the characters don't look too bad but there can be a lack of detail and finesse. The best gags are Daffy trying to get onto the saddle of the horse and the ending, none of them are major misfires(they don't at least go on for too long) but none are hilarious, the best are amusing and fun but the gags generally could have done with sharper timing and crisper pacing. The story is predictable and not always exciting but is well sustained within the 7 minute length. The music is characterfully orchestrated, blends really well with the visuals and has the energy that the pacing did lack. Daffy is still the funny, charismatic and compelling character that has always been part of his appeal, while the horse is appropriately stubborn. Mel Blanc's vocal characterisations show that he still had it even very late in his career. To conclude, watchable but there's been much better from Daffy. 6/10 Bethany Cox

Daffy's had worse outings
KalloFox3417 March 2022
"Daffy Flies North" is far from Daffy's best outing, but it's not his worst either. The cartoon is pretty cheaply animated, it overuses Hanna-Barbera sound effects, and the music is unimpressive, but the main problem with it is the slow pacing, which makes the short feel like it's twice as long as it actually is.

It's better than most of his pairings with Speedy, but those cartoons set the bar so low that it doesn't say much. Nothing about it is offensively bad, but it's hardly entertaining either. It's just another one of the mediocre post-Golden Age Looney Tunes shorts. It's just... there.

Awful

Daffy's flying with the other ducks but gets tired and decides to find an easier way to migrate north. Later Looney Tunes effort that was originally part of a television special called Daffy Duck's Easter Show (aka Daffy Duck's Easter Egg-citement). As with most of the Looney Tunes cartoons produced after the classic era, this one is lacking in pretty much every way. The animation is flat and uninspired. What's with that weird looking horse that resembles a camel? Feels like that thing wandered in from another cartoon. The music and sound effects are TV quality and everything that implies. The jokes are unfunny. I can't imagine it took more than ten seconds to map out this whole cartoon. The best things I can say about it is that the colors are nice and it features the voice work of the incomparable Mel Blanc. But it really is one of the worst Daffy Duck cartoons I've ever seen. As another reviewer said, it really makes you appreciate the talented people who brought us those timeless cartoon shorts from the 1930s through the 1960s.

Pretty Un-funny cartoon that tries to be a Looney Tunes short.
lukeneedssand28 June 2021
This cartoon is actually worse then some of those later sixties daffy cartoons that I don't think are necessarily horrible, and Neither do I think this one is either, but not a great cartoon in general is played here, and can't hold up to some of the earlier daffy cartoons. Mel blancs voice acting isn't even a huge problem, I think it's a great achievement to be this old and age and still Sound Somewhat Like daffy duck, Though I'm not sure how much energy is put into his voice. Not sold on the Animation, Story, And Jokes in this Looney-tunes lookalike short.

5/10.
