One day after Deadline revealed that Netflix beat out seven other bidders for an untitled international heist comedy package built around Ryan Reynolds, Shawn Levy has boarded as director and the 21 Laps principal has joined the roster of producers headed by Genre Films’ Simon Kinberg and Audrey Chon, Reynolds through his Maximum Effort banner, and Dana Fox, the Lost City scribe who will write the script.
Levy is currently directing Reynolds in Deadpool 3, which Kinberg is producing. Levy and Reynolds also teamed on The Adam Project, which is the third most viewed Netflix film in the streamer of that history. Levy just directed all the episodes and was EP through his 21 Laps on the Netflix limited series All the Light We Cannot See, which just received a Golden Globe nomination.
Molly Milstein and Margy Love will be exec producers. Kira Goldberg and Ori Marmur are overseeing at Netflix.

Exclusive: A wild pre-holiday auction for a Ryan Reynolds global heist comedy vehicle is coming to a close, with Netflix winning the deal. Deadline revealed the untitled pitch last week, when the creatives did the rounds to pitch directly — something that hasn’t happened much since the pandemic –and the 7-figure bids began hitting the table. Dana Fox will write the script, and Simon Kinberg is producing with Reynolds.
The pitch is untitled, but I’ve heard it has great parts for an ensemble in the spirit of an Oceans Eleven. It is also set in the international arena. The idea originated from Fox and Kinberg, and they pitched it to Reynolds and Maximum Effort.
There were eight buyers in the mix, and that whittled down to five and finally four before Netflix prevailed. Sources said Fox will be paid mid 7-figures to write it and the producing deals are high 7-figures.

Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling are set to star in a prequel to the iconic heist film ‘Oceans 11’, which will explore the origins of the original crew and their romantic entanglements in the 1960s. The film, tentatively titled ‘Oceans 10’, is still in development and has not been officially announced by Warner Bros., but producer Josey McNamara has confirmed that the project is alive and well.
“I think we’re just trying to do right by the franchise. I’m excited for people to experience it when it’s ready,” McNamara said in an interview with Collider. He added that the script, written by Olivia Milch, is “fantastic” and that the film will have a “different tone” from the previous ‘Oceans’ movies, which were directed by Steven Soderbergh and starred George Clooney, Brad Pitt, Matt Damon, and others.

"Ocean's 8" graced the big screen more than five years ago and it seemed to promise more to come. However, a sequel has yet to materialize for reasons unknown. Boasting an all-star ensemble including Sandra Bullock, Cate Blanchett, Anne Hathaway, Sarah Paulson, Helena Bonham Carter, Rihanna, Awkwafina, and Mindy Kaling, the third installment of the popular "Ocean's" franchise proved its mettle at the box office, amassing a worldwide total of $297.8M, a figure roughly on par with "Ocean's Thirteen." Additionally, it garnered favorable reviews from critics. Mixed audience reactions resulted in only a 47% positive score on Rotten Tomatoes. Overall, the picture achieved success.

Roach, who last directed Bombshell, the expose about Roger Ailes and the predation of women aspiring for on air jobs at Fox News, is the director of blockbuster franchises Austin Powers and Meet The Parents.
Roach is an EP and directed all eight episodes of the series High Desert for Apple TV+, and he’s also working on F*cked Up College Dream, inspired by his own experiences of not sleeping as a freshman at Stanford, because of the anxiety of not measuring up. It’s been 20 years since the iconic heist movie Oceans Eleven was released! Here are some fun facts you might not have known about the film.
“Has any other popcorn flick boasted a more impressive star-studded cast than Ocean’s Eleven? Well, apart from Ocean’s Twelve, Ocean’s Thirteen, and the female-fronted reboot Ocean’s 8, obviously. There was George Clooney, Brad Pitt, Matt Damon, and Julia Roberts all at the peak of their powers; past and future Oscar favorites Andy Garcia, Don Cheadle, and Casey Affleck; and Hollywood royalty Carl Reiner and Elliott Gould—not to mention a cameo from everyone’s favorite German-American lion tamers Siegfried and Roy.”

So Patty Jenkin’s Star Wars movie Rogue Squadron is back on? Oh man, this is getting confusing.

Domestic theaters, now mostly reopen even with five new studio movies in the last three weeks, could only muster a total gross of $45 million this past weekend. That’s less than a quarter of what the same weekend in 2019 took in. That week was dominated by “Toy Story 4.” Disney released the Pixar sequel targeting the Father’s Day audience. That timing only added to an already monster hit that took in $121 million initially, and $434 million domestic all told.
This weekend, two new films were timed to Father’s Day, at least in part. Unfortunately for struggling theaters, neither had them in mind.
“Luca,” Pixar’s latest, debuted on Disney+ free for subscribers (unlike some other recent Premium VOD offerings). No viewership reports have emerged. But the figure might have been in the millions just in the U.S. And with the low end of a Pixar opening this century at $39 million,...

It’s no secret that Asians are woefully underrepresented in American Cinema, but that thinking has started to shift in the last few years. This is especially true afer the majority-Asian cast Crazy Rich Asians became the most successful rom-com in decades. According to Vice.com, there are a slew of blockbuster movies coming out soon with Asian lead characters. We’re even about to see our first Asian Marvel Super Hero. In the past, Hollywood has seen backlash for constantly whitewashing films, removing Asian actors from source materials and casting white Americans to take their places. It seems that Hollywood is starting to see the power of the Asian American market. Here are 6 Asian actors who have appeared in gambling and casino movies over the years.

Connors is back and he's turned over a new leaf.
The resident crooked cop sought redemption on Cloak and Dagger Season 2 Episode 5 for everything he did to Tyrone, but it wasn't going to be that simple. The damage Connors caused left its dastardly marked across the city.
This change required the enemies to work together to achieve a common goal. But did their partnership lead to magic or just more mischief?
"Alignment Chart" was less of a filler and more of a lead-in episode.
All of the movements made by the characters were done to help push existing plots already in motion. Tyrone, Tandy, and Brigid spent the majority of their time getting side stuff out of the way to bring them to the stage they needed to be. Their decisions were essential to the plot, but it didn't shake things up too much.
Arguably, only Tandy ended up in...

She may have starred in Ocean's 11 and Ocean's 12 alongside George Clooney and Brad Pitt in 2001 and 2004, but Julia Roberts had no involvement in the 2018 all-girls spin-off Ocean's 8 — and she's allegedly not too happy about it. "Julia said, 'I haven't seen it and I won't be seeing it,' and that was the end of that," an insider, who saw Julia at a press event for Homecoming, revealed to Star in the magazine's newest issue, on newsstands now. (Photo Credit: Splash) The source added, "When someone else brought up Ocean's 8, Julia's PR person stopped them. She looked annoyed to even be asked about it." The movie — which premiered in June — starred Sandra Bullock, Anne Hathaway, Cate Blanchett, Sarah Paulson, Mindy Kaling, Helena Bonham Carter, Rihanna, and more. However, Julia shouldn't feel too bad — and that's because the role almost didn't happen for Sandra either! In a previous interview, Sandra revealed...

Ocean's 8 is so fun, so slick, and so visually stunning (those Gowns) that by the time the credits finally start to roll, you might not want to get up right away. To be fair, a performance as spectacular as the one Anne Hathaway gives as seemingly airheaded actress Daphne Kluger deserves a moment of reflection at the end of the film. As does Cate Blanchett's collection of suits. And Sandra Bullock's charmingly gritty Debbie Ocean. And Rihanna's . . . well . . . it's Rihanna.
You know what? Everyone in this movie - and we mean everyone, because this A-list cast is to die for - knocks it out of the park. That being said, we wouldn't advise sticking around once the credits appear for any reason other than trying to catch your breath after their epic Met Gala heist. Casting eight female stars, all consummate scene-stealers, as master thieves in a gender-reversed spin on the all-dude Ocean's 11 trilogy? It's a smart idea – not to mention smashing fun. Yes, the plot has more holes than a wheel of swiss cheese and director Gary Ross (The Hunger Games) lets the script he wrote with Olivia Milch go slack in its mid-section, but odds are you won't give a fuck. Ocean's 8 is a heist caper that looks gorgeous, keeps the twists coming and bounces along on a comic rhythm that's impossible to resist.

“Atlanta Monster” co-creators Payne Lindsey and Donald Albright are far from done with the story of Wayne Williams and the Atlanta child murders: They’re holding Hollywood meetings about a possible TV docu-series, and want to expand their hit podcast to investigate other cities plagued by serial murders.
Lindsey and Albright, co-founders of Tenderfoot TV, detailed their plans to TheWrap Friday for our “Shoot This Now” podcast, about stories that should be made into TV shows and movies. You can listen on Apple or here:
The Atlanta-based duo were in Los Angeles Friday in large part because they’re adapting their previous podcast phenomenon, “Up and Vanished,” into a TV show for the Oxygen network. But they’re also going to some meetings about how “Atlanta Monster,” the most successful new podcast of 2018, could be made into what Lindsey, the host of the podcast, envisions as a premium docu-series.

“Atlanta Monster” follows the deaths of 28 African-American children and young men killed between 1979 and 1981. Authorities blamed Wayne Williams, an aspiring record producer, for all of the murders, though he was only prosecuted and convicted in the killings of two adult victims. Some loved ones of the murdered children believe they were killed by someone other than Williams.
Lindsey said there are already two scripted projects in the works about the case: Season 2 of Netflix’s “Manhunter” and a Regina King-John Ridley project for FX based on Kim Reid’s memoir, “No Place Safe.”
An “Atlanta Monster” docu-series could compliment the scripted projects, much as 2016’s “Oj: Made in America” complimented FX’s Ryan Murphy drama “People v Oj Simpson,” released earlier in the same year.
“I love scripted TV and that’s eventually where I want to go, but I think this story needs the docu-series,” Lindsey said. “It needs the documentary form of this. … telling the real story and adapting it that way.”
Lindsey and Albright are also looking to expand the format of “Atlanta Monster” to other cities. “Atlanta Monster” used the killings to highlight racial and socioeconomic issues in the Atlanta of decades ago that still reverberate nationwide. Albright and Lindsey say other cities’ serial murders could provide a similar frame for looking at broader problems.

“We kind of set the tone with ‘Atlanta Monster’ because it’s not just murders in a place,” Albright said. “It’s how those murders affected that place. There are monsters all over the world.”
In an early episode of the “Shoot This Now” podcast, Matt Donnelly and I talked about how a fundraiser during the Atlanta murders, starring Sammy Davis Jr. and Frank Sinatra, could be the basis of a scripted film. Albright and Lindsey wouldn’t rule out big-screen adaptations.
“It doesn’t really matter as long as we can do it right and do the city, the victims and the story justice,” Albright said.

Sandra Bullock has a plan — and she's executing it with style in the Ocean's 8 trailer.

Steven Soderbergh (Ocean's 11, Logan Lucky) is lining up the next film project that he will produce and possibly direct. The film is an action thriller called Planet Kill and it's an original story that comes from Scott Z. Burns (Contagion, The Bourne Ultimatum) and James Greer (Unsane, The Spy Next Door).
There are no details on what the story for this film will entail, but judging by the title, it sounds like it could turn out to be a fun flick! It's the kind of title you would see for a grindhouse type film and I'm really curious to know what the story will entail. The title is similar to Robert Rodriguez's Grindhouse film Planet Terror.
Soderbergh and Greer previously worked together on the upcoming psychological horror thriller Unsane, which was shot entirely on an iPhone. That movie looks great, and you can watch the trailer for it here.

Happy 80th birthday, Shirley MacLaine!
The legendary, award-winning actress, who was born April 24, 1934 in Richmond, Va, started out as a dancer and got her big break on Broadway. She made her first film with Alfred Hitchcock, became a Rat Pack regular, flirted briefly with politics but has never stopped acting as she enters her 7th decade in Hollywood.
She started off as a lovably kooky ingenue, but is known today for her cantankerous matriarch roles in "Downton Abbey," "Bernie," "Steel Magnolias," "Guarding Tess," and, of course, her Oscar-winning role as Aurora Greenway in "Terms of Endearment."
Her next gig is a singing and dancing role on "Glee," of course. Happy Birthday to one of the most talented, most colorful character actresses of all time.
1. She was named after Shirley Temple.
2. She's been performing since age 3, when she began doing ballet.
3. As a girl, she pretended she was Rita Hayworth, since...

Singer, dancer and actor whose Hollywood career was overshadowed by her marriage to Errol Flynn
The gifted singer, dancer and actor Patrice Wymore, who has died aged 87, had the misfortune to be typecast in secondary roles at Warner Bros studios in the 1950s, and to be known as the third wife of the Hollywood star Errol Flynn.
The 23-year-old Wymore and the 41-year-old Flynn got married after co-starring in Rocky Mountain (1950), a minor western in which he played an army officer who rescues her from marauding Indians, though they had no love scenes together on screen. It was Wymore's second film, while Flynn was a veteran of more than three dozen movies. It was the beginning of her film career, while his was on the slide. Both were under contract to Warner Bros.
At the time, MGM musicals reigned supreme, though Warner Bros had Doris Day, a top box-office singing star.

Patrice Wymore Flynn, a Hollywood actress and cattle rancher who was the widow of swashbuckling screen legend Errol Flynn, has died at her seaside home in Jamaica. She was 87. On Monday, family spokesman Robb Callahan said Flynn died Saturday at her home in Jamaica's Portland parish after battling pulmonary disease. During her film career, she worked alongside actors such as Doris Day, Kirk Douglas and Randolph Scott. She played Frank Sinatra's girlfriend in the original "Ocean's 11" in 1960. The Kansas-born actress met her future husband when she was cast as the female lead in the 1950 western "Rocky Mountain." They...

Oscars buzz boosts UK box office and whether growling on a plane or voicing an animation, it's Liam Neeson's moment
• Review of The Lego Movie
• Review of Non-Stop
• More on the UK box office
The winner
Adding another £4.79m in the past seven days, The Lego Movie now stands at a sturdy £26.67m after three weeks of play. That puts it level with the lifetime tallies of blockbusters including Spider-Man 2 (£26.72m) and Ocean's Eleven (£26.47m), and ahead of fellow animations including Ratatouille (£24.80m) and Wall-e (£22.91m). The Lego Movie will pretty soon overtake the likes of Shrek (£29m) and A Bug's Life (£29.45m) and is clearly headed into the mid-30s (£m).
Although box office for The Lego Movie is certainly skewed to the weekend, its decent performance in the Monday-to-Thursday period suggests that it is picking up a true adult audience, rather than merely adult chaperones of children.

If you haven't already heard someone suggest, "Let's go to Paris'. I wanna rob," then, sorry, we don't know where you've been for the past few months. The Sofia Coppola-directed film "The Bling Ring" opens nationally this weekend, and the film's infinitely quotable, meme-ready lines are like catnip to the selfie-snapping, celebrity-obsessed zeitgeist. The film follows the titular ring, a teenage gang that allegedly walked casually into celebrities' homes — armed with TMZ-gleaned knowledge that the stars are out of town — and back out with armfuls of designer goods, jewelry and more. The real-life burglars even made off with Orlando Bloom's rug.
Katie Chang and Israel Broussard, both 18, may play the two alleged masterminds of the crew in "Bling Ring," snotty yet fashionable young people based on Rachel Lee and Nick Prugo, but in a chat with NextMovie in Manhattan the morning of the film's New York premiere, the...

Las Vegas is one of those distinctly American creations: it was designed and built by a gangster, in the middle of a deathly desert, as a utopian celebration for bad behavior, gilded excessive-ness, criminal activity and off-color kitsch. It's a place where you can stay in intricately themed hotel/casinos based upon the pyramids of Egypt, Arthurian castles, New York City, Paris, Amazonian rain forests, Roman coliseums and Robert Louis Stevenson's novel "Treasure Island," but you'd be hard-pressed to find a museum or library to whet your cultural appetite. And yet there's something hypnotically attractive about this place – we keep returning to it, again and again, both in real life and in the movies. This week's "Hangover, Part III" climaxes (as it were) in Vegas, high atop Caesar's Palace, and in keeping with this we decided to celebrate the bad taste and blinding neon lights of Vegas by showcasing...

Google is known for their creative "Doodles" on special days throughout the year. May 8 was no different as the company celebrated renowned graphic designer Saul Bass' 93rd birthday. Bass passed away in 1996, but his impact is long-lasting.
Bass created some of the world's most iconic brand logos, including At&T, Quaker Oats, Dixie and the Girl Scouts of America. He was also responsible for many legendary movie posters, including "The Shining," "Vertigo," "It's a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World" and "Anatomy of a Murder."
However, the Google Doodle pays tribute to Saul through something else he was known for, movie title sequences. The video features the word "Google," as written in many of Bass' better-known title sequences. Movies like "Spartacus," "Ocean's 11," "Around the World in Eighty Days" and "Psycho" are represented in the video. Saul's last credited work is the 1998 shot-for-shot remake of "Psycho," which utilized a title...

Back in late 2009 we highlighted the exploits of the The Art of the Title Sequence, a fantastic website dedicated to stylish opening and ending credits sequences that bookend the films we all now and love. Earlier this year, the website crafted a video chronicling A Brief History of Title Design as an introduction for the SXSW Title Design Competition. Now this time, in honor of the new book, Saul Bass: A Life in Film & Design, the site has put together A Brief History of the Title Design of Saul Bass which includes his work in North by Northwest, Spartacus, the original Ocean's 11, Goodfellas, and much more. Here's A Brief History of the Title Design of Saul Bass courtesy of The Art of the Title Sequence: In addition to the video, the site points out that The Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) will also celebrate the life of Saul Bass...

Dean Martin would have turned 94 on Tuesday, June 7. Generally a somnolent presence in low-brow comedies co-starring either Jerry Lewis or Frank Sinatra, Martin was at his most interesting in dramas, e.g., Vincente Minnelli's Some Came Running, Howard Hawks' Rio Bravo. Both the somnolent Dean Martin and the interesting Dean Martin can be seen Tuesday morning and afternoon on Turner Classic Movies. In addition to Some Came Running, co-starring Sinatra, and the Oscar-nominated trio of Shirley MacLaine, Arthur Kennedy, and Martha Hyer, TCM will be showing Marriage on the Rocks, Bells Are Ringing, Ocean's Eleven, 4 for Texas, and Robin and the Seven [...]...

Fifty years ago this week, Sammy Davis Jr. was roundly booed during the opening ceremony of the 1960 Democratic National Convention in Los Angeles. The incident was one of the saddest moments in the entertainer's life and pointed up the deep racial divide that was threatening to rip apart the Democratic Party and the country.
It was July 11, 1960, and in two days the convention would nominate John F. Kennedy as the Democrats' presidential nominee. It had been hot and smoggy that day as 7,000 delegates began pouring into the Sports Arena downtown.
The convention was called to order promptly at 5 p.m., and after the invocation, everyone stood as the color guard presented the flag -- the first with 50 stars presented at a national political convention as Hawaii had been admitted to the Union 11 months earlier.
Then came the introduction of the Hollywood celebrities who were packed into the crowded hall as guests of the convention.

If you've ever seen a film by Alfred Hitchcock or Stanley Kubrick, then you're probably familiar with the title sequence designs of Saul Bass. Some of the title sequences he's more notable openings include The Man with the Golden Arm (1955), The Seven Year Itch (1955), Around the World in Eighty Days (1956), Vertigo (1958), Anatomy of a Murder (1958), North by Northwest (1959), Psycho (1960), Spartacus (1960), Exodus (1960), Ocean's Eleven (1960), West Side Story (1961), It's a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World (1963), Broadcast News (1987), Big (1988), Goodfellas (1990), Cape Fear (1991 )and Casino (1995). His minimalistic 1950's/1960's-style is very unique, and we often post movie posters imitating his style in our Cool Stuff columns. But what is Saul Bass designed the opening title sequence for every movie and television show? What might they look like. Hexagonall decided to try to recreate the opening of Tron and the ...

American photographer whose informal shots defined the youthful glamour of the 1950s and 1960s
With his artfully informal shots of Audrey Hepburn and Chet Baker, the American photographer Bob Willoughby, who has died of cancer aged 82, defined the youthful glamour of the 1950s. Hired by studios and record companies to make actors and musicians look good, Willoughby went beyond his brief to deliver portraits of an idealised elegance particular to its time. He captured the gamine, doe-eyed 24-year-old Hepburn reading letters on a hotel bed in 1953, and the impossibly cool Baker, the same age in the same year, seated on a folding chair in a recording studio, patiently awaiting his moment.

Based on the play of the same name, High Life is a smart, smart caper flick featuring not-so-bright criminals. In 1983, finding a weakness in the procedures around the newly prolific Automatic Teller Machines, a group of mostly-ex-con junkies plan a "victimless" heist in which they hope to score tens of thousands of dollars. Of course, when planned and executed by guys whose grasp of reality is near-constantly waylaid by a chemical cornucopia, is any plan perfect? Dick (Timothy Olyphant, ranging far from Deadwood territory) is the mastermind, at least when he's not trying to steal his ex-wife's car or scrounge for a little more morphine. His ex-cellmate Bug (Stephen Eric McIntyre in a strangely sensitive portrayal of a hot-headed killer) is willing to go along with Dick's plan, though he doesn't exactly work well with... anyone else, really. Round out the gang with considerate pickpocket Donnie (Joe Anderson) and charmer...

Well, that was a major letdown.
The CW hyped this episode of 90210 like it would be an hour of fun-filled, Ocean's 11-style revenge against Jen. Instead, Dixon, Liam, Teddy and Ivy simply lured Naomi into a room and ensured that she overheard her sister's sex confession.
It really wasn't that incredible of a plan; far from it, in fact. Somewhere, Danny Ocean is shaking his head in disappointment.
The revelation that Jen slept with Liam does have interesting, long-lasting ramifications, at least. Read our full recap of "And Away They Go" now and see what we mean below...
Naomi and Annie: Friends again? We actually prefer these two as enemies, but Annie has been on her own (and stuck in an increasingly boring relationship) for far too long now. It will be nice to see her back in the main fold.
Liam: A wanted man? We're not exactly sure...

New York -- Last year, as the indie-sales market was cratering, acquisition execs walked into the Toronto International Film Festival and found two dramas for which they were willing to pay seven figures.
A year later, those buys have proved savvy: "The Wrestler" was one of the dramatic breakouts of 2008 for Fox Searchlight, while "The Hurt Locker" is on its way to becoming that for Summit.
Industryites' mood is generally brighter entering Toronto this year, or at least more accepting of the dark realities. But a seven-figure deal may be even harder to find at this year's fest, which begins Thursday.
"I tell filmmakers that in this climate, don't count on a studio buying your movie. If they do, it's like winning the lottery," said one publicist who works on high-profile acquisition targets.

Freeze! Peace officers! Aw yeah, that's right, the role originally inhabited by the always entertaining Mr. T. has now been cast for the upcoming reimagining of the classic '80s TV series The A-Team. The one to take on the role of Sgt. Bosco "B.A." Baracus will be none other than the Ufc Fighter Quinton "Rampage" Jackson, who truly fits the part. He's got the muscles, the attitude and likes to wear big heavy chains... all he's missing is the mohawk and he could pass for Mr. T.'s own son. Apparently Jackson nabbed the role right in front of bigger stars such as The Game, Ice Cube and Tyrese Gibson, who all were interested, but just didn't have the charm and charisma that Jackson is being reported as showing. He joins the film as the third certain lock in a cast which will also contain Bradley Cooper as Lt.

Comedian Joey Bishop, the last surviving male member of Frank Sinatra's legendary "Rat Pack" who appeared in such films as Ocean's Eleven and Sergeant's 3, died Wednesday night of multiple causes at his home in Newport Beach, CA; he was 89. The Bronx-born Bishop pursued a career in stand-up comedy both before and after World War II, and caught the attention of Sinatra during a Manhattan gig in 1952. Soon after, Bishop was opening for Sinatra's concerts nationwide, and also began appearing in films and on numerous talk shows. He also became a famed member of Sinatra's Rat Pack, which also consisted of Sammy Davis, Jr., Peter Lawford and Dean Martin (Shirley MacLaine is also considered something of an honorary member). The male quintet appeared in the 1960 crime caper Ocean's Eleven, and performed nightly at the Sands Hotel in Las Vegas during filming; the next year, Bishop was asked to be the emcee for President John F. Kennedy's inaugural ball (produced by Sinatra). Away from the Rat Pack, Bishop starred for four years in the sitcom The Joey Bishop Show, which ran from 1961-65. He was also a frequent guest, and guest host, for such TV talk show kings as Jack Paar and Johnny Carson, and briefly had his own talk show in the late 60s. Bishop made fewer and fewer appearances throughout the 70s, occasionally popping up on a variety of television shows ranging from Match Game to Murder, She Wrote, and in a few films, the last two being Betsy's Wedding (1990) and Mad Dog Time (1996). Bishop is survived by his son, Larry.

Director Steven Spielberg is the latest Hollywood star to be granted a restraining order. Following a spate of stalker cases involving celebrities such as Meg Ryan, Pamela Anderson and Britney Spears, a Los Angeles judge has ordered 30-year-old Christopher Richard Hahn of Saskatchewan to stay at least 150 feet away from Spielberg for three years after the Canadian broke into Spielberg's offices in a desperate bid to get a role in one of the director's new movies. Hahn was arrested on January 11, after he forced his way into the director's offices. Court documents say that when Hahn was in custody he gave a false name and claimed to be an extra in last year's Ocean's Eleven. Spielberg was also the target of a disturbed stalker in the late 1990s.

Cameron Diaz will receive the heavenly sum of $20 million to reprise her role in Charlie's Angels 2. The huge payment, now confirmed by movie sources, puts the blonde babe into a category which only one other actress can claim to have reached - Ocean's Eleven star Julia Roberts. Male actors who have received similar pay packets include Arnold Schwarzenegger, Tom Cruise, Tom Hanks, Mel Gibson and Jim Carrey. As previously reported, Bill Murray will not be returning as Angels sidekick Bosley in the sequel, but both Lucy Liu and Drew Barrymore are signed up to star. Schwarzenegger is reported to be getting a record-breaking $30 million for the third Terminator film.

Actor George Clooney once got a call from a desperate Frank Sinatra - begging the hunk to get the paparazzi off his back. Clooney, who took on Sinatra's role of Danny Ocean in the remake of the crooner's classic heist film Ocean's Eleven, received the call while still starring in ER in 1998. Clooney was involved in a high-profile battle with TV networks that sent paparazzi to stalk him for their tabloid TV shows and then asked him to co-operate with celebrity interview shows, and Sinatra - who was close to death at the time - understood all too well the actor's predicament. Clooney recalls, "At the time he was sick and everyone was saying, Frank Sinatra' is going to die', and all these helicopters were buzzing around the house. I was in the middle of this boycott, this big fight with Hard Copy, and I got this call in my trailer. The phone rings and somebody says, 'Mr Clooney?' I go, 'Yeah?' It's like, 'Hold please.' And then a voice says, 'This is Francis.' And I'm like, 'Who?' 'Francis Sinatra.' I couldn't believe it. But it was him, definitely. And then he says, 'It's not working, what you are doing, it's not working.' And I try and say something and he says, 'They are all outside, everywhere, it's not working...' And he hung up. He was just trying to do anything to stop all those guys hanging around outside his home. It was so weird."...
