This film is a historic drama about the one of the world's worst industrial disaster caused due to negligence. It recounts the incidents that occurred on the night of the disaster. When the Union Carbide's Bhopal plant leaked 40 tonnes of a deadly gas leaving as many as 10,000 dead in one night.

Dilip a poor rickshawala lives near the carbide plant with his wife. As he tries hard to make ends meet with his very nominal income , he gets an opportunity to work at the carbide plant. He takes up the job with his heart filled with pride and starts doing his job sincerely. But soon realizes that the safety manager of the plant is neglecting safety norms and one by one the workers start falling sick. A local journalist closely monitors this issue and tries to expose the carbide company with the help of a foreign reporter. Unfortunately that didn't help. On the night of 2nd December 1984 the disaster happened. Thousands died and the scenes were horrific and disturbing.

Filmmaker Ravi Kumar has captured everything that this drama needed. The feel of Bhopal in the 80s, the slum life, the joy of a man who lands a job at the plant and the disaster, everything if managed well. However the quality of production could have been better. Bhopal - A Prayer for Rain is a story that needed to be told.
