Chicago – The first big breakthrough for any screenwriter is a momentous occasion, and David Wilson has done just that. The shot-on-a-shoestring indie family film “Spirit Riders” – written by Wilson – has had a great afterlife in limited release, Video-On-Demand, DVD, foreign distribution and online digital downloads. And this upcoming weekend, from November 20 to 22, 2015, Wilson will represent his story, about Equine Therapy, at the Equus Film Festival in New York City.
David Wilson hails from East Texas, and got his start in advertising and film media in Chicago. As most aspiring writers experience, there were a lot of stops and starts before his first screenplay, “The Underneath,” was filmed by a production company headed by director Brian T. Jaynes. This led to two more assignments from the same source, one for “Spirit Riders” and the upcoming “The Shadow People.”

This website was created several years ago to promote indie horror titles. But, every so often, a potential, terrible movie will come along; and then, this site acts more as a warning for horror fans. Brian T. Jaynes is probably this critic's least favourite director, in horror (and Larry Fessenden this critic's favourite). Jaynes has continued to create uninspiring and lackluster titles, for several years now. The first film this reviewer saw, by Jaynes, was Boggy Creek (2010). This film was a non-event, with very little happening in the film's eighty-seven minute run time (Boggy Creek Review). This film fan mistakenly believed that Jaynes would improve in his next title, Humans Versus Zombies (2011). Instead, the script for Humans Versus Zombies was very messy and the conclusion was an add-on (Humans Versus Zombies Review). Fool me once, shame on you; fool me twice, shame on me. This film fanatic no longer reviews Jaynes' work,...

Brian T. Jaynes is the director of “Humans vs. Zombies”, one of those low-budget zombie movies that show up in the marketplace about a dozen a day. Yeah, there are a lot of them. “Humans vs. Zombies” fell somewhere in the middle between bad and okay, but it (mostly) got the job done. Jaynes’ latest is the subterranean thriller “The Underneath”, which kinda looks like a distant cousin of “The Descent” but with just two people instead of a handful of victims — er, I mean, characters. Check out the first teaser trailer for “The Underneath”. I hate tight spaces, even more so than I hate Found Footage movies (elements of which this one seems to have a little bit off toward the end of the trailer there), and this one gave me the willies. A young newlywed couple find themselves trapped in a network of underground caves. With her husband (Holt Boggs) injured,...

Humans Versus Zombies is a film based on a role playing game played on college campuses. The game involves Nerf guns, marshmallows and zombies chasing survivors. Rumour has it that the survivors have never won. The film version of the game is written and directed by Brian T. Jaynes who is notorious to this reviewer for creating the abysmal and 28Dla Worst Film entry Boggy Creek. Jaynes seems to be making improvements in his photography here; however, his storytelling still lacks tension and the story for Humans Versus Zombies is uncompelling. Maybe viewers would be best off playing the game rather than watching the film.

See that headline? Yeah, I'd totally go see that movie. Sasquatchploitation is near and dear to our hearts here at Dread Central, and we're always happy to let you know about a new Bigfoot movie stomping our way.
Hannover House has acquired the exclusive, worldwide production rights to Primate, a sci-fi thriller about a cryptozoological creature that terrorizes a team of Bigfoot researchers. The property was written by Andrew Sands (Airspeed, Beyond Loch Ness) and is planned for a USA production in September.
Although story and plot details have been intentionally quarantined, Hannover House reports that Primate suggests that the creatures may be part of a surviving tribe of Gigantopithecus hominoids. This early primate, currently known only through fossil findings, towered over 8 feet in height and has been pegged as a possible identity for the legendary Bigfoot sightings.

There have been many films created about a legendary monster spotted in and around Texarkana. The creature has been called the Fourke Monster, but here the hairy villain will be known more simply as bigfoot or the Sasquatch. There have been at least three other Boggy Creek films beginning in 1972 and this reviewer admits to not seeing any of the previous films (The Legend of Boggy Creek, Return to Boggy Creek). Boggy Creek, starring Texas Battle ("Death Valley"), Melissa Carnell (Humans Versus Zombies), Julin (Sweatshop) and Denise Williamson (Spirit Camp), in a very under the radar release in this series as Hannover House did not promote the September 13th release on DVD at all. The lack of tension in a supposed horror movie explains why there was little fan fare.

The Legend of Boggy Creek is one of those films that has over the years gained a cult following – a following that has been growing since the film was first released in 1972; but at the same time the film remains somewhat of an obscurity outside of the Us. Well now, director and producer Brian T. Jaynes has taken inspiration fro the original film to craft a new film for today’s modern audience. This time the film, simply titled Boggy Creek, is (according to Jaynes):
…a thriller that centers around a story of five young kids who get caught out in a swamp in Boggy Creek, Texas. They end up crossing paths with an ancient evil creature that lives in the swamp. We’re kind of combining [the Bigfoot] with some ancient Caddo Indian mysticism and mythology. We kind of took a little creative license with it and painted our own version of Sasquatch.

It seems like they release a new zombie film every month these days, but director Brian T. Jaynes’ Humans Versus Zombies actually looks promising. The movie is based on the live-action game predominately played at college campuses where players begin as Humans and try to survive in a story where Zombies have begun to rise from the dead. The ultimate goal of the game is for either all Humans to be turned into Zombies, or for the humans to survive a set amount of time.
The game was created in the fall of 2005 at Goucher College by students Brad Sappington and Chris Weed. Weed and fellow players have since created an official website with rules and information for other universities to create and customize their own HvZ game. Since the game’s creation, Humans vs. Zombies has been played at various colleges world wide and has grown in popularity across campuses,...

Despite the silly title, director Brian T. Jaynes’ “Humans Versus Zombies” actually looks like a dead-serious zombie movie. (See what I did there?) Which is a great thing. As much as I dig the legion of “Shaun of the Dead” copycats out there, especially the low-budget variety, it’s always nice to dip back into some serious zombie post-apocalyptic mayhem just to refresh the ol zombie love. Check out two teaser trailers (a third is forthcoming) along with a poster that probably doesn’t do the movie justice. Apparently the whole thing started as a college game before they decided to make a movie out of it. Or maybe that website is just a viral promotional thing. Who knows nowadays with these crazy kids and their crazy online shenanigans. Get off my lawn! Ahem. Students on summer break are exposed to a deadly virus, a neuroinvasive organism that is spread rapidly through direct human contact.

Filmmaker Brian T. Jaynes promised he'll be putting together three trailers in all for his upcoming Humans Versus Zombies, and so far we've seen two of them. While we wait for number three, how about a new poster?

The infected are enslaved by the invading “swarm” intelligence and driven by an insatiable appetite to consume human flesh. Returning home, the students spread the infection to their fellow classmates and other unsuspecting townspeople. One by one, more students fall victim to the plague, triggering an epidemic that spawns a horde of ravenous zombies.

It's another undead romp, a child of the Dawn of the Dead remake, from the looks of it. Or a companion piece to Automaton Transfusion , as it tells of high school students who become infected, turn into zombies and are unleashed on their unsuspecting town. Brian T. Jaynes directed. Boggy Creek's writer/producer/director Brian T. Jaynes has released some photos of the Facades FX creature shop in action on the upcoming film - a whole gallery's worth in fact!
Facades FX designed, fabricated, and created all the creature suits, prosthetics, special make-up effects, and gore rigs for the new Boggy Creek. The Facades FX crew on-set were Phil Nichols and Melissa Nichols, and Phil provided us with the following overview:
For the Swamp Creature FX:
We created three suits. These suits were built on standard under-garment supports with sculpted and molded chest, back, and shoulder enhancements attached and painted in the creature's flesh color paint scheme. Then a special hand-blended synthetic hair mix was painstakingly pasted on the suits in a realistic growth pattern. A lot of hard work went into making these suits. The Legend of Boggy Creek is one of those films that has over the years gained a cult following – a following that has been growing since the film was first released in 1972; but at the same time the film remains somewhat of an obscurity outside of the Us.
Directed by Charles B. Pierce, The Legend of Boggy Creek is a lo-fi quasi-documentary allegedly based on true stories of numerous sasquatch-like encounters. Whilst the film has a likeable charm it just didn’t have the budget to be truly effective – so unlike many films, The Legend of Boggy Creek seems ripe for a remake; a remake which is on the way.

One remake we're particularly stoked for around here is Boggy Creek. Why? Because they just don't make enough good Bigfoot movies, and how could anyone resist a good old fashioned dosage of Sasquatchploitation?!?
To give you your fix for the day, the official teaser trailer for Boggy Creek has just gone live, and we have it for you below!
"It's a thriller that centers around a story of five young kids who get caught out in a swamp in Boggy Creek, Texas," explains Brian T. Jaynes, director and producer. "They end up crossing paths with an ancient evil creature that lives in the swamp."
The movie is loosely based on the old Bigfoot or Sasquatch legends, he continues, "We're kind of combining that with some ancient Caddo Indian mysticism and mythology. We took a little creative license with it and painted our own version of Sasquatch."

Boggy Creek is definitely not a remake of 1972, as Julin (Spirit Camp) tells 28Dla.com, but an original feature that is the first to show the Caddaja. The Caddaja is an ancient creature from the ancient Caddo culture, that likes human flesh. Julin, who appears as Kay O'Brien in the feature, also states that the film was shot in the north-east of Texas near Louisiana. Lots of swamps here. Also, director Brian T. Jaynes sums up the plot of the film succintly: "it's a thriller that centers around a story of five young kids who get caught out in a swamp in Boggy Creek, Texas" and "we painted our own version of Sasquatch." The Bigfoot could really use a revamp. So, check out some of these pictures of Julin, the set, and her co-star Cory Hart as Dustin O'Brien.

We've been following the progress of two new swamp monster movies in the works, and today we can bring you new news on both. More plot details have emerged on the Boggy Creek non-remake. The first image giving us a good look at swamp thing on the prowl in Brett Piper's Muckman is now available for gawking at. Put on your galoshes; things are about to get swampy.
It seems almost strange that more and more information about this Boggy Creek flick is coming via local newspapers in the areas where the film is shooting rather than Internet horror websites. That truly is the mark of an old school indie film production. Another surefire sign is when you're actually filming in a town named Uncertain.
Last month I reported on news courtesy of a Texarkana newspaper, and this month our Boggy Creek news comes via the Marshall News Messenger.
