In the late 1960s, way before he starred in It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia, Danny DeVito began his career as an actor. He portrayed Martini in the play One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest and did so again for the 1975 film. He has had a successful career since then, but it was not something he planned for.
Unlike some celebrities, DeVito did have the goal to act originally. Before landing his first role, his sister had him train to do something else. DeVito explained more about what happened in a podcast.

There may be only 104 days of summer vacation, but "Phineas and Ferb" is returning for even more adventures. Jeff "Swampy" Marsh is reuniting with Dan Povenmire for 40 all-new episodes of the Emmy Award-winning series about stepbrothers Phineas Flynn and Ferb Fletcher, their secret agent pet Perry "Agent P" the Platypus, their older sister Candace, and the countless chaotic capers they get into while school is out. The series renewal was announced back in January, but it wasn't until today that Marsh's return was confirmed.

A Phineas and Ferb revival is in the works as part of creator Dan Povenmire’s newly inked overall deal with Disney Branded Television.
There will be another 40 episodes of the popular animated series produced as part of the deal, which will equate to two seasons. It’s not clear where the episodes will air, since Disney Branded Television currently produces series across Disney Channel, Disney+, Disney Junior and Disney Xd.
Disney Branded Television President Ayo Davis made the announcement in conjunction with Povenmire during Friday’s Television Critics Association panel.
“There’s songs that we wrote in 2005 for this show that are trending on TikTok. That has been one of the best times in my career is the fact that this whole generation of kids and parents really took this show into their hearts, and it still means so much to them,” Povenmire said.

If you’ve been wondering lately whether we’re living in the worst timeline, it’s possible this next announcement won’t help. Chris Pratt is voicing Nintendo’s Mario in a new Super Mario Bros. animated movie out next year.
Yes, that Chris, the one Mark Ruffalo doesn’t want you to be mean to on Twitter. But even if you think he’s the “worst Chris” and should be replaced in the Pantheon of Chrises by Chris Messina, Nintendo clearly loves Marvel’s Star-Lord, Parks and Recreation‘s Andy Dwyer, and Jurassic World‘s Owen Grady if the company wants him to be the voice of its most iconic character (and arguably the most recognizable figure in video game history). That must have been one hell of an audition.
“Each voice actor was cast for their ability to capture the unique spirit of their character,” said Nintendo in a press release.

CBS Studios is looking to its past for its latest reboot.
The company is developing a cartoon reboot of Everybody Hates Chris.
The live-action iteration first launched on Upn in 2005 before moving to The CW, but it was canceled after four seasons in 2009.
It focused on a young African-American teen's attempts to survive with his dysfunctional family and his all-white school in the 1980s.
Deadline first broke the news of the reboot and notes that Chris Rock, the narrator, and co-creator of the original series, is in line to return as the narrator.
The original series starred Tyler James Williams (The Walking Dead) as young Chris, Terry Crews (Brooklyn Nine-Nine) as Chris’ father Julius, and Tichina Arnold (The Neighborhood) as Chris’ mother, Rochelle.
The cast also included Tequan Richmond (General Hospital), Imani Hakim (Mythic Quest), and Vincent Martella (Phineas and Ferb).

Even though the parameters of the Christmas movie are pretty well established at this point, the merits of more unconventional titles like Die Hard, Batman Returns and Gremlins still find themselves being debated on an annual basis. Most people seem to be in agreement that the Christmas film needs to involve the festive season as either a backdrop or major plot point while incorporating themes of family and togetherness, but what exactly is a Thanksgiving movie?
Is it a pic where the holiday is integral to the narrative like Ike Barinholtz’ directorial debut The Oath? Does it have to specifically involve turkeys in some way like the animated Free Birds? Or the annual Macy’s parade as seen in Ben Stiller’s forgotten Tower Heist? Perhaps one single scene set around the Thanksgiving table is enough to fit the criteria, as appears to be the case with Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man.

In 1969, when “Sesame Street” premiered, it invented a thing called children’s “educational” television, and few would deny that it fulfilled that mission — to teach kids and delight them at the same moment. The legacy of “Sesame Street” is vast, to the point that dozens of children’s shows that don’t call themselves educational, or even think of themselves that way, now subscribe to the same mission. In our era, some of the best kids’ TV has been fast and furious, diabolically witty and smart — the educational equivalent of a roller-coaster ride. I’m thinking of shows like “Team Umizoomi,” “The Loud House,” “Apple & Onion,” and “Phineas and Ferb,” which ended its four-season run on the Disney Channel in 2015. So it’s no surprise that “Phineas and Ferb The Movie: Candace Against the Universe” is one of the sharpest kids’ movies in a while.

Movies have been around since the late 19th century, but only now — after more than 100 years of failure — has someone finally made one that hinges on the invention of a ray gun that replaces anyone it shoots with the nearest available chicken. The device is called “The Chicken Replace-inator,” and it’s the latest weapon created by the mad scientist Dr. Doofenshmirtz (of Doofenshmirtz Evil Incorporated fame) in his never-ending quest to kill the fedora-wearing secret agent who always foils his plans and also happens to be a platypus — Perry the platypus.
The cackling lovechild of Abe Vigoda and the Wicked Witch of the West, Doofenshmirtz has come up with all sorts of cockamamie schemes to destroy Perry over the years — one for each of the 222 episodes of “Phineas and Ferb” that aired on the Disney Channel between 2007 and 2015 — but the Chicken Replace-inator has to be among the dumbest and most inspired.

With Netflix going hard on interactive movies like Black Mirror: Bandersnatch, it was only a matter of time before other studios started experimenting with them. Now, DC’s animated movie division has figured out a way to use the format to make a true-to-life adaptation. With Batman: Death in the Family, a new animated short film, the fans will get decide whether Robin (aka Jason Todd) lives or dies.
Announced by IGN, the movie version of Death in the Family will be fully interactive and let viewers choose one of multiple, branching fates for Jason Todd. It’s also a rough prequel to Batman: Under the Red Hood, one of the more successful comic adaptations in the DC Animated line. Returning voice actors include Thirteen Days dreamboat Bruce Greenwood as Batman, Gary Cole as Commissioner Gordon, John Dimaggio as Joker, and Vincent Martella as Jason.

The virtual event replaces the annual San Diego Comic-Con, the largest fan convention in North America, which was to be held July 22–26 at the San Diego Convention Center, until the Covid-19 pandemic forced its cancellation.

Disney will tout three projects coming to its Disney+ streaming service with virtual panels during next month’s Comic-Con@Home event.
Anthology docuseries Marvel’s 616, scripted original series The Right Stuff and animated movie Phineas and Ferb The Movie: Candace Against the Universe will all get screen time.
Last week, Comic-Con@Home announced several Disney television panels for properties like The Simpsons and Bob’s Burgers. Hulu is also part of the @Home lineup.
Comic-Con@Home will be held on the same dates as the physical Comic-Con, which was canceled due to Covid-19: July 22 to 26.

Horror film come bizarre love story, Clinger follows high schooler Fern Petersen whose possessive high school boyfriend dies in a gruesome accident on the same night she breaks up with him. As if that wasn’t enough turmoil, things go from bad to worse when he returns as a love-sick ghost, initially intent on wooing her once more. But the course of true love never runs smoothly, especially when you’re a headless ghost, which leaves Robert with no choice but to kill Fern so the two can be together… for eternity!
Romantic comedies about unrequited love are hard to get right. Romantic horror comedies are even harder to get right.
