Raimi Productions, the genre-focused company run by Sam Raimi and Zainab Azizi, has signed a first-look film and television deal with Ara Keshishian and Petr Jákl’s development and financing company Zq Entertainment.
The deal extends the long-standing relationship between the two companies, which most recently collaborated on the upcoming thriller “Locked,” directed by David Yaroveksy and starring Bill Skarsgård and Anthony Hopkins, and the horror-thriller “Don’t Move,” which was acquired by Netflix earlier this month.
“Don’t Move” follows a seasoned serial killer (Finn Witrock) who injects a grieving woman (Kelsey Asbille) with a paralytic agent while the two of them are isolated deep in the forest. As the agent gradually takes over her body, she must run, hide and fight for her life before her entire nervous system shuts down.

Boy Kills World looked to be a cool action flick – and JoBlo’s own Chris Bumbray said it was in his 8/10 review, where he wrote, “I had a total blast with this demented actioner.” But even with producer Sam Raimi’s name on the film, it didn’t draw in much of an audience during its theatrical run. According to The Numbers, it only made $3 million worldwide. Now it’s heading to home video, where hopefully it will have more success. Boy Kills World is getting a digital release next week, on May 28th, and Amazon is already accepting pre-orders at This Link.
The film marks the feature directorial debut of Moritz Mohr. It was scripted by Arend Remmers (Sløborn) and Tyler Burton Smith (Kung Fury: The Movie). The story takes place in a bizarre, dark dystopian universe and centers on a deaf and mute character, Boy, who navigates this...

The Wattpad/Webtoons and Grave Weaver-created series “I’m the Grim Reaper” is nearing its 200th episode, and it’s also getting a new TV series adaptation with talented names behind it. Deadline reports that celebrated filmmaker Sam Raimi is teaming up with 10 Cloverfield Lane scribes Josh Campbell & Matt Stuecken on the new series.
The series follows “Scarlet, a young woman who wakes up in the ninth circle of hell with no idea how she got there. Satan offers to send Scarlet back to Earth if she’ll work as his reaper. But it doesn’t take long for Scarlet to realize that Satan’s offer is even worse than she feared.”
The story is said to fit perfectly into “Raimi’s wheelhouse, striking a deft balance between scares, gore and humor.”
Sam Raimi and Zainab Azizi will executive produce the series with Weaver, who’ll also team on the development process.

Famke Janssen is not sure what Marvel has planned for the X-Men saga but doesn’t shut the door on the idea of reprising her role of Jean Grey / Phoenix.
Janssen originated the X-Men role in the 2000 film and would go on to play the mutant in 2003’s X2 and 2006’s X-Men: The Last Stand. The actress also made cameos in 2013’s The Wolverine and 2014’s X-Men: Days of Future Past.
“I don’t know. I mean, I didn’t expect to come back after dying as Jean Grey,” Janssen told ComicBook in an interview. “I came back as the Phoenix [The Last Stand], and I came back in flashback scenes in The Wolverine, and then in Days of Future Past.”
Janssen noted that reprising the role following the initial films “were all surprises that I never anticipated” and didn’t put past appearing in this year’s Deadpool & Wolverine,...

Back in September, the first image from the horror film Don’t Move was unveiled. That’s the image above, which doesn’t show us anything other than the fact that the movie stars Yellowstone cast member Kelsey Asbille. Hopefully we’ll be seeing more about Don’t Move soon, though, because Variety reports that the worldwide distribution rights to the film have been acquired by the Netflix streaming service. A release date has not yet been announced.
Don’t Move is being produced by genre legend Sam Raimi. Adam Schindler and Brian Netto, who directed episodes of the Raimi-produced anthology series 50 States of Fright, directed the film from a screenplay written by T.J. Cimfel and David White, who previously wrote the 2015 home invasion movie Intruders and the recent creepy kid movie There’s Something Wrong with the Children. This film follows a seasoned killer who injects a grieving woman with a paralytic agent.

Back in 2007, it was rumored that Sam Raimi would be producing a fantasy film with a screenplay written by Freddy vs. Jason and Friday the 13th 2009 writers Damian Shannon and Mark Swift. That didn’t pan out, but a decade later Raimi considered directing a Bermuda Triangle project that once had Shannon and Swift working on the script. Again, that didn’t pan out, with Scott Derrickson and more recently Marc Webb picking up the project after Raimi dropped it. In 2019, it was announced that Raimi would be directing an untitled island horror thriller for Columbia Pictures, working from a script by Shannon and Swift. Then the pandemic hit and Raimi went on to direct Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness… but after spending some time in the Marvel universe, the Evil Dead creator has circled back to horror. Film scooper Daniel Richtman has revealed that the “untitled island...

Paramount Network’s Yellowstone is the most-watched show across all of television, so it makes sense that the first image from the horror film Don’t Move promotes the fact that Yellowstone cast member Kelsey Asbille is in the movie. We’re waiting to hear news of a release date for director Moritz Mohr’s dystopian action thriller Boy Kills World, which stars Bill Skarsgard (It) and Jessica Rothe (Happy Death Day)… and it looks like that news might not be too far off at this point. It seems to be near because the movie has just secured its rating from the Motion Picture Association, and it’s a rating that makes the movie sound quite promising to me. Boy Kills World has been rated R for strong bloody violence and gore throughout, language, some drug use and sexual references.

Scripted by T.J. Cimfel and David White, who previously wrote the 2015 home invasion movie Intruders and the recent creepy kid movie There’s Something Wrong with the Children, Don’t Move will follow a seasoned killer who injects a grieving woman with a paralytic agent. Scott Beck and Bryan Woods made quite the name for themselves when "A Quiet Place" hit theaters in 2018. As the writers of the film, they had a massive hit on their hands, and one that has gone on to spawn an entire franchise. But they've since moved on to directing as well, with their latest movie an equally ambitious sci-fi feature in the form of "65." Starring Adam Driver in the lead role, the duo finally gave modern audiences a big dinosaur movie that was divorced from the "Jurassic Park" franchise (read our review here). And for those who would like to see that action unfold on their TV from the comfort of home, we've got some good news for you.

“Scream VI” slashed through the competition at the Thursday box office, taking in $5.7 million in preview showings. The Adam Driver-starring sci-fi thriller “65” followed suit with $1.2 million.
The latest installment in the beloved horror franchise opens Friday in approximately 3,675 domestic locations. Previews took place Thursday evening at 3,125 theaters starting at 5:30 p.m. The Paramount and Spyglass Media Group film is expected to earn $35 to $40 million this weekend, possibly besting “Scream V,” which opened to $30 million. For a comparison, that film grossed $3.5 million at the Thursday box office in January 2022. It went on to make $81.6 million in the U.S. and $137.7 million worldwide against a $25 million budget.
Bolstered by a starry cast and stellar early reviews (79% from critics and 93% from audiences on Rotten Tomatoes), “Scream VI” is aiming to beat the franchise box office record, currently held by “Scream 3” with $34.7 million ($60.3 million in today’s currency).

Adam Driver-starring sci-fi adventure film “65” has been approved for theatrical release in mainland China. It will hit cinemas on March 31, some three weeks after the film began to release in other international territories.
The film is branded as a Columbia Pictures title and will be released by the Sony label in most territories. In China, however, all revenue-sharing import titles are officially handled by a state-owned enterprise. The Hollywood studio’s Chinese office theoretically operates in an advisory capacity, though in practice it is likely to be involved in marketing strategy and p&a decisions.
The film has a survival-quest narrative. After a catastrophic crash on an unknown planet, pilot Mills (Driver) quickly discovers he’s actually stranded on Earth some 65 million years ago. In years past, you would have to actually tune in and sit through the Super Bowl in order to see the new movie trailers and TV spots that were going to be shown during the Big Game’s commercial breaks. But these days most of those trailers and TV spots show up online before the game even starts. For example, this year we have Fast X, Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves, and Scream 6, among others. The latest Super Bowl spot to show up online, two days before the Super Bowl, is one for the sci-fi thriller 65, and you can check it out in the embed above.

65 million years ago, Big Game meant something very different. 65 hours before kickoff, Sony has released the Super Bowl spot for 65, which is coming to theaters on March 10.
Sam Raimi joined forces with A Quiet Place writers Scott Beck and Bryan Woods for 65, who directed the high concept genre film from their own original screenplay.
The original movie from Columbia Pictures stars Adam Driver, Ariana Greenblatt, and Chloe Coleman, and we had no idea what the movie was about until the first trailer hit. Turns out, it’s a survival horror experience set on Earth in the distant past, inhabited by dinosaurs. Adam Driver is tasked with blasting them away with futuristic video game weapons.

The 2023 Super Bowl is still over two days away, but Sony Pictures has decided to give us an "early look" at a new (wordless) teaser trailer for the Adam Driver-led sci-fi thriller "65." It was appropriately released 65 hours ahead of Sunday's football kick-off. Sony is also indulging in some clever wordplay with the words "big game." It has two meanings, as you can tell. On one hand, it refers to the 2023 Super Bowl as the big football game — and also dinosaurs, in that Adam Driver is hunting some very big game.
In "65," as with HBO's excellent ongoing "The Last of Us," the male protagonist Mills (Driver) must keep a young girl called Koa (Ariana Greenblatt) safe from all kinds of monsters. The two are the only survivors of a crashlanding, one that has somehow taken Mills and his futuristic gun 65 million years into Earth's past. That's why there are so many dinosaurs around.

The writers of A Quiet Place, Scott Beck and Bryan Woods, bring us a new high-concept sci-fi film. Sony Pictures just dropped the new trailer for 65. The title refers to the time frame of 65 million years in the past, and if you ever wondered if there was a way audiences could get new dinosaur movies not associated with the Jurassic World franchise, Beck and Woods have found a new wrinkle to deliver it to us.
The synopsis reads,
“After a catastrophic crash on an unknown planet, pilot Mills quickly discovers he’s actually stranded on Earth — 65 million years ago. Now, with only one chance at a rescue, Mills and the only other survivor, Koa, must make their way across an unknown terrain riddled with dangerous prehistoric creatures.”

A new image from first-time feature director Moritz Mohr’s dystopian action thriller Boy Kills World has started making the social media rounds. It’s not clear where the image originated from, but it’s cool to look at nonetheless, featuring characters who are played by Bill Skarsgard (It) and Jessica Rothe (Happy Death Day) and are covered in blood. Sam Raimi has joined forces with A Quiet Place writers Scott Beck and Bryan Woods for 65, which had been set for theatrical release on March 10, 2023 – the same day as Scream 6.
That date has changed, however. 65 will now release in theaters on March 17, 2023.
The original movie from Columbia Pictures stars Adam Driver, Ariana Greenblatt, and Chloe Coleman, and we had no idea what the movie was about until last week’s trailer. Turns out, it’s a survival horror experience set on an alien planet that’s inhabited by dinosaurs, and Adam Driver is tasked with blasting them away with futuristic video game weapons.
“After a catastrophic crash on an unknown planet, pilot Mills (Adam Driver) quickly discovers he’s actually stranded on Earth…65 million years ago. Now, with only one chance at rescue, Mills and the only other survivor, Koa (Ariana Greenblatt), must make their way across an...

Today is a good day for sickos who love weird horror. The production company owned by the incomparable Sam Raimi, Raimi Productions, is teaming up with Hammerstone Studios' Alex Lebovici, the executive producer behind this year's hit horror film, "Barbarian." The two companies are re-teaming with Christian Mercuri's Capstone Studios to bring to life a horror-thriller called "Don't Move," according to an exclusive news break over at Deadline. This is a follow-up collaborative effort between Raimi Productions, Hammerstone Studios, and Capstone Studios after the Bill Skarsgård action-thriller, "Boy Kills World," which is currently in post-production.
Not much has been made public regarding the story of "Don't Move," outside of an official logline that reads, "'Don't Move' watches as a seasoned killer injects a grieving woman with a paralytic agent. She must then run, fight, and hide before her body completely shuts down." The film comes from Adam Schindler and Brian Netto,...

It’s a big day for screenwriters T.J. Cimfel and David White. A few hours ago, a trailer was released for the creepy kid movie There’s Something Wrong with the Children (check that out Here), which was written by Cimfel and White, who previously wrote the 2015 home invasion movie Intruders. Now it has been announced that Sam Raimi is producing the horror thriller Don’t Move, which Adam Schindler and Brian Netto will be directing from a script by Cimfel and White!
Intruders also happens to have been the feature directorial debut of Schindler. Netto’s feature directorial debut was the 2013 horror film Delivery: The Beast Within, which he and Schindler wrote together. Schindler and Netto then became a directing duo when they took the helm of the Grey Cloud Island (Minnesota) episodes of Raimi’s horror anthology series 50 States of Fright.
