On Thursday, Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes’ daughter, Suri Cruise, turns 18 years old.
Suri rose to fame as an infant in 2006 when she was featured on the cover of Vanity Fair with Cruise and Holmes at five months old. Photographed by Annie Leibowitz, the cover shows Cruise swaddling a young Suri in his jacket as Holmes looks down in adoration.
In 2012, Holmes filed for divorce after six years of marriage. Following the divorce and Cruise’s involvement with the group Scientology, Holmes has kept Suri out of the spotlight and away from Cruise. Suri has no relationship with Cruise.
In 2023, Holmes told Glamour magazine she was protecting Suri from the public because “she was so visible at a young age.”
Suri’s last public appearance with her father was at Disney World Florida in July 2012. Photographs captured the father-daughter pair attending rides and spending time together at the amusement park.

Rolling Stone was founded in 1967 in San Francisco by a music critic and his 21-year-old protégé, a Berkeley dropout who borrowed money from his future in-laws to get it off the ground. For decades, Rolling Stone gripped tight to the beliefs and cultural blinders of that boomer beginning. Most of its rocker heroes from that Haight-Ashbury autumn were white and male, and those were the kind of people who stayed center stage at Rolling Stone. The misogyny and racism of that founding era lingered longer.

Actor Suzanne Somers had big plans to celebrate turning 77 – one idea was to pose for Playboy once again. But the enduring actor died a day shy of her birthday after a decades-long battle with an aggressive form of breast cancer.
Despite facing illness for many years, Somers joyfully embraced her age and worked tirelessly to maintain her health. In April, she said she was ready for just about anything.
“I haven’t pursued it, but it’s on the bucket list,” she said on the Behind the Velvet Rope with David Yontef podcast. “How interesting that would be? I look good without my clothes on.”
When did Suzanne Somers pose in Playboy?
Somers posed for Playboy twice in the past, in 1980 and 1984. At the time, her pictorial was considered to be somewhat “scandalous” because Hollywood stars didn’t readily pose for the magazine. She shared why she posed the first time.

Tony Bennett, who died today at the age of 96, was a singular figure in music — a classic crooner who weathered the fickle winds of popular music over multiple decades by adapting but never fundamentally changing who he was. His initial rise and success were astounding in their own right, but the second half of Bennett’s career is just as fascinating. Starting in the Nineties, Bennett didn’t so much try to court younger audiences or artists but find some kind of common ground with them.

During a star-studded promotional screening of “Deep Throat,” Joan Didion shares a prescient observation. She doesn’t want to — at least, not in that moment. All she wants is to enjoy the lavish party put on to promote Minx magazine. Check that: All she really wants is to be left in peace to use the restroom, but Joyce Prigger (Ophelia Lovibond), the editor-in-chief of Minx, can’t contain her giddy inquiries long enough for the acclaimed journalist to relieve her bladder. Joyce wants Joan to write for the magazine; something about “Deep Throat” and what it reflects about the shifting ‘70s culture, if not society at large. Joan isn’t all that interested, and instead encourages Joyce to pen the piece herself — but not before offering her reluctant, rushed assessment of the landmark porno being screened in the adjacent auditorium. “I don’t think it was their intent,” Joan says,...

Cara Delevingne Says Concerning Paparazzi Images Led to Rehab Stay, Sobriety Journey: “I Was Not Ok”
Cara Delevingne sparked widespread concern after paparazzi images captured at a private airport in L.A. last September showed the model and actress looking disheveled and acting erratically upon returning from Burning Man. Now, in a revealing cover interview with Vogue, the 30-year-old said she’s grateful for those images because it sent her on a path to rehab and sobriety.
“I hadn’t slept. I was not Ok,” she told Vogue writer Chioma Nnadi. “It’s heartbreaking because I thought I was having fun, but at some point it was like, Ok, I don’t look well. You know, sometimes you need a reality check, so in a way those pictures were something to be grateful for.”
For the interview, conducted in late January, Delevingne confessed that she was four months sober after a stint in rehab late last year. “I’ve had interventions of a sort, but I wasn’t ready.

On December 8, 1980 — just hours before he was murdered by a deranged fan near the entranceway to his New York apartment building — John Lennon welcomed photographer Annie Leibowitz into the home so she could take his photo for the cover of Rolling Stone. “The session took place in a bright, sunny room overlooking the park,” Yoko Ono recalled in 2004. “We were feeling comfortable because it was Annie, whom we respected and trusted, so John seemed not to have any problem taking off his clothes.”

Queen Elizabeth II‘s corgis have found a new home. According to multiple reports, the Queen’s beloved pets will live with the Duke and Duchess of York, Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson.
The pair, who divorced in 1996, both still live at the Royal Lodge on the Windsor estate. It was Ferguson a.k.a. “Fergie,” who found the puppies, who were reportedly gifted to the late monarch by the Duke.
The Duchess was said to have bonded with Her Majesty over dog-walking and riding horses, and even after her divorce, continued her friendship with the Queen by walking dogs through the Windsor estate.
The Queen, who died Thursday at the age of 96, is said to have had four dogs at the time of her death, two Pembroke Welsh corgis named Muick and Sandy, a dorgi called Candy, and a cocker spaniel named Lissy. It’s also been reported that she had over 100 horses.

All the queen’s horses and all the queen’s dogs — what’s going to happen to Queen Elizabeth II’s beloved animals now that she has died?
Queen Elizabeth adored animals, especially horses, cows and, perhaps most of all, her corgis.
The monarch, 96, died on Sept. 8, and senior members of the Royal Family rushed to Balmoral Castle in Scotland to be at her bedside.

Pizza Hut, luxury luggage and Spitting Image: How Mikhail Gorbachev became an unlikely cultural icon
Mikhail Gorbachev walks into a Pizza Hut. The year is 1997, six years after the end of the Soviet Union, and the leader who oversaw its dissolution is in Moscow’s Red Square to star in one of the strangest television adverts ever produced. After taking a seat alongside his granddaughter Anastasia Virganskaya, Gorbachev is spotted by two men at a nearby table and a debate over his legacy ensues. “Because of him we have economic confusion!” claims a dour, middle-aged man. “Because of him we have opportunity!” fires back the younger of the pair, perhaps his son. Certainly the two are intended to represent a generational gap. While the elder complains about political instability and chaos, the younger talks of freedom and hope. It’s left to an older woman to settle the debate. “Because of him, we have many things…” she says, “…like Pizza Hut!” On that, they can all agree.

When I was a political reporter in Washington, I used to loathe the White House Correspondents Dinner. I hated how it portrayed Beltway journalism as a game. How it reduced the project of government accountability to performative antagonism practiced daily by reporters in White House press briefings — a performance exposed annually at a dinner where the most powerful people in the world would rub elbows and yuck it up about funny “inside jokes” like George W. Bush’s bungling of the Iraq War and the media’s culpability in helping him do it.

Tom Cruise and Tim Curry in Ridley Scott’s Legend (1985) will be available on Blu-ray September 28th from Arrow Video
This is such stuff as dreams are made of. This is Legend.
After changing the face of science fiction cinema forever with Alien and Blade Runner, director Ridley Scott turned his visionary eye to the fantasy genre, teaming with writer William Hjortsberg (Angel Heart) to create a breathtaking cinematic fairytale with one of the screen’s most astonishingly rendered depictions of Evil. In an idyllic, sun-dappled forest, the pure-hearted Jack (Tom Cruise) takes his true love Princess Lili (Mia Sara) to see a pair of unicorns frolicking at the forest’s edge. Little do they know, however, that the Lord of Darkness has dispatched his minions to capture the unicorns and sever their horns so that he may plunge the world into everlasting night.

Refresh for updates… Christopher Plummer’s The Sound of Music costar Julie Andrews has joined those paying tribute to the late actor, saying in a statement, “The world has lost a consummate actor today and I have lost a cherished friend. I treasure the memories of our work together and all the humor and fun we shared through the years. My heart and condolences go out to his lovely wife Elaine, and his daughter Amanda.”

The list of filmmakers who never actually studied film is essentially just a list of the best filmmakers. Christopher Nolan, Stephen Spielberg, Quentin Tarantino, Wes Anderson and Stanley Kubrick are a handful of the many (wildly successful) cinema auteurs who never went to film school. Of course, Spielberg didn’t just pick up a camera and make Jaws. Learning to make a movie does take enormous time and effort – it just doesn’t necessarily require an expensive film school. One of the best ways to start making films (or hone...

One of the pics included the Ghost star in a black bra and open white button-down, as Emily wore in her Instagram Story. This is part of our ongoing coverage of the 20th anniversary of Almost Famous.
Ahead of the 20th anniversary of Almost Famous this Sunday, director Cameron Crowe unearthed his archive, sharing memories of the film while telling stories from his teenage years as a Rolling Stone journalist.
“When Rolling Stone magazine — my old high school, essentially — calls and asks for something, I answer,” Crowe tells the camera. “Their request was to see if I could find anything from the archives, a.k.a. my garage, that pertained to the Almost Famous experience.
