James Gunn’s Dcu reboot is all set to take flight with his upcoming Superman, and fans couldn’t be more excited about it. According to the insights the co-ceo of DC Studios has shared until now into the project, the film has been inspired by a lot of the comics and projects from the Dcau. That being said, one behind-the-lens mastermind of Batman Beyond has something to say to Gunn.
2025’s Superman will kick off James Gunn’s DC Universe.
This master brain is none other than one of the directors of the superhit animated series from 1999, Butch Lukic. And as it turns out, he has some seriously good pieces of advice for the Guardians of the Galaxy director on how to helm his upcoming DC Universe reboot — some pretty neat advice that even fans would agree with.

Justice League: Crisis on Infinite Earths – Part One Movie Review Rating:
Star Cast: Alexandra Daddario, Aldis Hodge, Matt Bomer, Jensen Ackles, Stana Katic, Jimmi Simpson
Director: Jeff Wamester
Director: Marv Wolfman, James Krieg
Review of Justice League: Crisis on Infinite Earths – Part One: A Disappointing Start to Crisis (Photo Credit – IMDb)
What’s Good: The voice cast, including Matt Bomer, Ashleigh Lathrop, and Christopher North, delivers performances on par with previous entries in the franchise. Bomer’s earnest portrayal of The Flash echoes the character’s Silver Age origins, while Lathrop and North contribute essential enthusiasm and finesse to their respective roles. Despite the film’s shortcomings, the voice actors bring their characters to life with notable performances.
What’s Bad: The film’s emotional core, the love tale between Barry Allen and Iris West, needs more depth, leaving the audience detached. The film struggles with internal contradictions, attempting to...

Justice League: Crisis on Infinite Earths – Part One is, the first part of a trilogy adapting one of the major milestones in the history of DC Comics and ending the “Tomorrowverse” series of movies. It was written by Marv Wolfman and drawn by George Pérez, to whom this adaptation is dedicated. Long live the Legion!
Since early in their existence, I have been a diehard fan of the Legion of Super-Heroes, so I am immediately drawn to anything featuring them. The current Warner Animation release, Legion of Super-Heroes, certainly makes me smile—that is, when I’m not grimacing.
The film picks up on the current animated continuity so we have a Supergirl (Meg Donnelly), relatively new to Earth. She’s a headstrong teen still coming into her powers, and for some reason, Superman (Darren Criss), who already had the benefit of Pa Kent’s tutelage, can’t manage her. When Batman (Jansen Ackles) points out she’s a threat in her current condition, the Man of Steel decides she needs more help than he can give.
Using a time sphere, he brings her to the 31st Century, where she is immediately accepted into the Legion Academy. Then, in both time periods,...

In the 1960s, Mort Weisinger ran more than a few stories speculating on what would happen had Superman and Batman married and had offspring, although no two stories were connected. Under Murray Boltinoff, World’s Finest Comics in 1973 began a series of stories about Clark Kent, Jr, and Bruce Wayne, Jr., which had its following. More recently, Superman and Lois had a son, Jonathan, while Batman met Damian, his biological son, grown in a test tube by Ra’s al Ghul. Once they established themselves, it was inevitable the youngster would be paired up and a series of entertaining Super Sons stories ran, mostly in the capable hands of writer Peter Tomasi.

Batman: The Long Halloween has been embraced as a superb Batman tale, a solid mystery story, and a superlative effort from Jeph Loeb and Tim Sale. It has remained in print since its arrival in 1996-97. Warner Animation tackled this in 2021, releasing it in two parts, which I liked when I reviewed them here and here.
The parts have now been sewn together into a far more satisfying single volume, upgraded to 4k Ultra HD, which incrementally enhances the overall enjoyment.
The 13-part story is set early in Batman’s career, with Loeb plumbing the Gotham underworld as established by Frank Miller and David Mazzucchelli in Batman: Year One. Interfering in Carmine “The Roman” Falcone’s (Titus Welliver) gang operations is the arrival of the Holiday Killer. Tracking him with little effect over the course of a year are Batman (Jensen Ackles) and his grudging allies Captain James Gordon...

Justice League vs. The Fatal Five is a reunion of talent and style that bridges the old and the new.
Nearly 27 years after the Bruce Timm-developed DC Animated Universe began in 1992 with Batman: The Animated Series, and 13 after it ended in 2006 with Justice League Unlimited, the so-called Timm-verse is … well, not quite back. Yet the new animated film Justice League vs. The Fatal Five is a reunion of talent, and style, but with a new class of heroes joining the iconic characters (and the actors who voiced them) for a largely satisfying adventure.

One of the smarter moves the DC Animated Universe did was begin to build interlocking storylines, characters, and voice artists. This has allowed them to build off previous events and let the status quo consistently evolve rather than feel static. (Amazing animation can do this far more easily and effectively than the film division.)
As a result, we are now emotionally invested in this incarnation of the classic heroes and villains, which allowed the redone Death of Superman film in 2018 work so well. This also paved the way for the sequel, Reign of the Supermen, which has received quite the promotional bump.
Out on home video today from Warner Home Entertainment, the 87-minute adventure rarely lets up and is more satisfying than previous installments. While it takes the name from the 1993 storylines that followed the Man of Steel’s death, it bears little resemblance. This is wholly set in the...

The Justice League will face off against a classic group of villains in a new animated movie. Here's the first trailer...
Fans of the Bruce Timm era of DC animated adventures such as Batman: The Animated Series and Justice League are in for a treat: the company's next animated movie, Justice League vs. The Fatal Five, is a nostalgic return to Timm's iconic art style. In fact, if you look closely, the new movie recaptures quite a few of the designs from Justice League Unlimited, including the longer ears on Batman's cowl.
As you'd expect, the movie pits DC's pantheon of heroes against the Fatal Five, a group of supervillains from the 30th century. While they're usually the Legion of Super-Heroes' problem, these baddies have traveled back in time to give Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, and the rest a hard time.

With a trailer to give fans a look at the upcoming Elseworlds animated Batman adventure, WB Animation has announced when fans will be able to get the Gotham By Gaslight blu-ray, along with all the special features coming with it. Come inside for all the details!
DC's Animated films are almost always a lot of fun to watch. Some of my favorites, however, are the ones that eschew the Animated Universe continuinty in favor of something different (like Gods and Monsters). As such, I'm really excited to see how Batman: Gotham By Gaslight turns out. It sees a different Batman take on Jack the Ripper in a turn of the century Gotham.
It's a neat concept, and worked great in the comics. Let's just hope the same magic works in the animated film when it releases on February 6, 2018:

Each year, the fine folks at Warner Bros. Animation serve up a handful of films based on DC properties and, more often than not, they knock it out of the park. Not only that, but a significant portion of the fanbase argues that they’re superior to what’s offered in the live action realm. And, to be completely honest, I have to concede in most cases.
Having said that, the trend looks to continue in 2018 with Batman: Gotham by Gaslight leading the charge. First revealed to us via a sneak peek included on the Batman and Harley Quinn Blu-ray release, it boasts a Dark Knight unlike anything we’ve seen outside of the comic books.
For those unfamiliar, Gotham by Gaslight was originally published in 1989 and ended up starting the “Elseworlds” line of books. Written by Brian Augustyn and drawn by Mike Mignola, it followed the exploits of a Batman residing in the 1800’s,...

Last month, we found out that Batman: Gotham by Gaslight would be the latest comic book to be turned into a DC universe animated movie. Now, we have our first look at the film courtesy of this eight-minute sneak peak that’s arrived online, after being featured on the Batman And Harley Quinn DVD/Blu-ray.
Written by Brian Augustyn with art by Hellboy creator Mike Mignola, 1989’s Gotham By Gaslight is often credited as kickstarting the DC Elseworlds imprint, which produced out-of-continuity stories that gave familiar characters a fresh twist. Gaslight moves the Batman mythos to Victorian times and sees a steampunk-themed version of the Dark Knight hunt down Jack the Ripper, who’s travelled from London to Gotham.
The sneak peak gives us a glimpse at various snippets of the movie, and thankfully it looks to be one of the more visually-impressive DC animated efforts we’ve seen so far.

Aka Dr Harleen Quinzel, Harley Quinn first appeared in Batman: The Animated Series in 1992. Originally voice by Days of Our Lives’ Arleen Sorkin, she was created by series writers Bruce Timm and Paul Dini as an object of amusement for the Joker. A squeaking sufferer of “Histrionic Personality Disorder”, she has gone from kooky sidekick to become the star of the New 52’s most original – and most insane – new series.
It’s immediately apparent that Batman and Harley Quinn, the new standalone feature from Warner Bros. Animation, written by Timm and directed by DC veteran Sam Liu, is firmly rooted in the classic TV show. Everything is here, from the minimalist Art Deco styling, to the perennial orange sunset, to that definitive half-Elfman score.

Celebrating a decade of DC Universe Original Movie world premieres in San Diego, Warner Bros. Home Entertainment will once again give fans their first look at an all-new animated feature with the presentation of Batman and Harley Quinn on the Friday, July 21, at Comic-Con International.
In Batman and Harley Quinn, Poison Ivy and Jason Woodrue (a.k.a. The Floronic Man) embark on an ecological quest to save the planet – and, unfortunately, eliminate most of humankind along the way. To save humanity, Batman and Nightwing are forced to enlist Harley Quinn to catch Poison Ivy, Harley’s Bff and frequent partner-in-crime. But Batman’s patience is put to the test by the unpredictable and untrustworthy Harley during the twists and turns the reluctant companions face during their bumpy road trip. The result is a thrill ride of action, adventure and comedy no Batman fan has seen before.
The world premiere of Batman and Harley Quinn will include a post-screening panel discussion among available members of the core cast and filmmaking team. The latest DC animated film features a stellar voice cast led by Kevin Conroy (Batman: The Animated Series) reprising his role as the Dark Knight, alongside Melissa Rauch (The Big Bang Theory) making her debut as the irrepressible Harley Quinn. Loren Lester, the voice of Robin in Batman: The Animated Series, returns as Nightwing. Paget Brewster (Criminal Minds) and Kevin Michael Richardson (The Cleveland Show) provide the voices of the villainous duo Poison Ivy & Jason Woodrue, respectively.
Fathom Events will follow that premier with their own one-night cinema event for the latest DC Universe Original Movie, Batman and Harley Quinn, on August 14, one night prior to the Digital release and 15 days in advance of its arrival on Blu-ray™ and DVD. In addition to seeing the film, audiences at the one-night screening will be the first to experience an exclusive featurette spotlighting the film’s star character, Harley Quinn.
“Fans of DC Universe Original Movies are a devoted legion, and never was that so evident than with the enthusiastic embracing of our Batman: The Killing Joke Fathom Events presentation,” said Mary Ellen Thomas, Warner Bros. Home Entertainment Vice President, Family and Animation Marketing. “Audiences nationwide turned the screenings into true interactive experiences, and we believe Batman and Harley Quinn will inspire a similar night of celebration.”

“Seeing Batman and Harley Quinn on the big screen and among fellow fans is truly the best way to experience it,” Fathom Events VP of Studio Relations Tom Lucas said. “There’s only one opportunity to do this and it’s on August 14. On that night, we’re expecting audiences to pack theater auditoriums just like they did for Batman: The Killing Joke.”
Produced by Warner Bros. It's been awhile since I've been truly excited about any of the animated films being developed by DC Entertainment and Warner Bros. Animation. I really haven't been too impressed with what they've been doing recently, but Batman and Harley Quinn looks like it could be great. I liked what I saw in the first trailer that was released, especially the fact that it was done in the same art style as Batman: The Animated Series. This is also an original story that was developed by Bruce Timm.

Another DC Universe Original Movie is on its way, and this one looks like one that is going to put Batman through the ringer. Batman and Harley Quinn has the Dark Knight and Nightwing teaming up with Harley Quinn of all people.
When Poison Ivy and Jason Woodrue (a.k.a. The Floronic Man) aim to save the planet, largely by getting rid of people, and Batman and Nightwing enlist Harley Quinn, Poison Ivy’s friend, and frequent partner-in-crime. As you might imagine, Harley isn’t exactly cut out for a straight-forward partnership that has her on the right side of things.
The release also includes a featurette on Harley Quinn, a couple of bonus cartoons, and more.
Check out all the info below, including the intriguing trailer, and let us know what you think of this one.

With the awesome showings that were Justice League Dark and Teen Titans: The Judas Contract now behind us, our attention turns toward the next major DC animated film of 2017 in Batman and Harley Quinn. Pairing one of the genre’s most lucrative players in the former with one currently boasting white hot popularity in the latter was a wise move on the part of the studio and, judging by last week’s trailer reveal, it looks like they have another hit on their hands.

Check out the first trailer for DC Entertainment's Batman and Harley Quinn movie, featuring Kevin Conroy as Batman's voice...
Love it or hate it, Harley Quinn was undoubtedly a highlight in last year’s controversial Suicide Squad movie. And the character’s growing popularity with fans is not lost on filmmakers. The new direct-to-download film is based on an original story by DC animation legend Bruce Timm and looks to explore Batman’s relationship with the nutcase formerly known as Dr Harleen Quinzel. In the film, Batman and Nightwing begrudgingly team up and go on a road trip with Harley Quinn after Harley’s erstwhile Bff Poison Ivy decides...

In January, Cartoon Network announced a new DC animated series titled Justice League: Action. The show, which will feature Kevin Conroy returning to the role of Batman, features the 'Big Three' leading the Justice League in short, action-oriented adventures. At Kre8tif Conference 2016 this past weekend, some character designs were shown, providing a look at some of the characters we'll be seeing in the series. Along with Batman, Superman, and Wonder Woman, there's also Martian Manhunter, Lobo, Hawkman, Shazam, and more! The image is low-quality, but you can still identify the characters below. The series will also deliver an all-star lineup of regular and guest cast voices, including Mark Hamill as Joker, James Woods as Lex Luthor, Diedrich Bader as Booster Gold and many more. Sam Register (Teen Titans Go!) serves as executive producer with Butch Lukic (Justice League, Batman Beyond), Alan Burnett (Batman: The Animated Series) and Jim Krieg...
