Yeah Yeah Yeahs go full technicolor dream in the music video for their latest single, “Blacktop,” which appears on their recently released studio album Cool it Down. With Karen O at its center, the David Black-directed video toys with shadows and silhouettes to pair a visual narrative with the emotionally stripped-back track.
“‘Blacktop’ stuck out to me early on, the demo was very stripped down instrumentally and emotionally. It was a step towards what radical closeness feels like after a long separation,” Karen O explained in a statement. “Each...

Brown died on Christmas Day in 2006. Since then, the singer’s many heirs — children, grandchildren and an ex-wife who was ultimately eliminated as an heir after it was revealed she was still legally married to someone else when she wed Brown in 2001 — have fought over the estate, resulting in a dozen lawsuits and legal bickering that tied up the singer’s publishing rights and desired charitable endeavors.

A long-running dispute over the estate of singer James Brown has finally been settled, an attorney involved in the mediation said on Friday.
David Black, an attorney representing Brown’s estate, confirmed to The Associated Press that the agreement was reached on July 9. Details of the settlement were not disclosed.
The estate had been in dispute since Brown’s death at age 74 on Christmas Day 2006, and extended beyond finance for a time into the ultimate disposition of his remains.
A key party in the dispute was Tomi Rae Hynie, a former partner and mother to one of Brown’s children, who once was locked out of his estate in a widely publicized moment of anguish. She claimed to be married to Brown, but evidence of that was scant.
In his will, Brown left the vast majority of his fortune to a trust, his personal effects to some of his children,...

Cooper will write and executive produce the project, which comes from Nina Tassler’s PatMa productions, with Cindy Chupack, who will serve as showrunner. President of the United States isn't the highest paying job in the world, but Barack Obama and First Lady Michelle can certainly consider using their experience at the White House to cash in. According to The New York Times, literary agents predict the current Potus and Flotus may be able earn between $20 million to $45 million combined with post-presidency book deals. "His is going to be easily the most valuable presidential memoir ever," Raphael Sagalyn of the ICM/Sagalyn Literary Agency told the paper. New York — Mitch Albom, one of the country's most popular authors, has a new publisher and a new novel coming this fall.
The author of the sentimental favorite "Tuesdays With Morrie" has a three-book deal with Harper, an imprint of HarperCollins Publishers. Albom's previous publisher was the Disney-owned Hyperion, where he had spent much of his career.
At Harper, Albom will be edited by Karen Rinaldi, a friend since the 1990s when she attempted – and failed_ to acquire "Tuesdays With Morrie" for Crown.
"I have never forgotten our first meeting and his subsequent success, which have always been bittersweet for me," Rinaldi said in a statement. "It is particularly satisfying to bring Mitch to Harper, where our team's expertise and spirit of collaboration will create an unprecedented focus and passion for the next phase of Mitch's exceptional writing career."
"We see stories the same way," Albom, 54, said in a statement.

London, Mar 7: A reader returned a library book - more than 50 years after borrowing it as a schoolboy - during fees amnesty at Fine Art Library in Edinburgh so as to avoid a 2762.55-pound fine.
David Black, 60, borrowed a work on the artist Goya, by Dr Xavier de Salas, on September 22, 1962, the Mirror reported.
He said that he completely forgot to return it and even though it popped into his mind every now and then, it slipped out of his mind to actually do it.
Black asserted that when he read about the amnesty he decided that he must do it, if only to see the librarian's face.
He added that he has been.

How to Get a Great HeadshotThe most critical factor in getting great headshots is to find the right photographer for you. The best place to start is to ask actor friends who they recommend, especially if you like their headshots. If you're new to town and don't know many actors yet, try asking fellow students—because of course you're taking a class. You can also visit a reputable photo lab that specializes in headshot photography and ask for a list of recommended photographers.Though it's important that you are impressed by a photographer's portfolio or website, it's more important that you feel comfortable with the person you're hiring. Always meet in person with the photographer ahead of time to make sure that you are going to get along. Nothing is worse than having your picture taken by someone who makes you uncomfortable. While there's the cliché that it's all in...

In a career already garlanded with awards, one constant for film director Sam Mendes has been the eclecticism of the projects he has chosen, from gangster period drama Road to Perdition in 2002 to last year's quirky road-trip comedy Away We Go.
Nonetheless, it was with genuine surprise today that the film world greeted news that the Oscar-winning Briton has been in talks about what would be his most surprising project yet – the next James Bond movie.

"I can confirm that he has had a meeting, but Sam always has lots of projects on the table that he might direct next," Keene said. "Sam's method is to have...
