Sex & Nudity

  • Naruto does something called sexy jutsu in a few of the beginning episodes. Nope. The name is not misleading. Maybe if you we're watching the 4kids dub or something but in the more mainstream version on Netflix and stuff he turns into a nude lady. Sexual body parts a covered by smoke.
  • Quite a lot of dating and kissing jokes but nothing too explicit it's called harem jutsu
  • Mildy explicit things are shown.
  • Brief nudity in season 8 episode 20 of Netflix version. Nude back and side of breast shown, about 3 seconds.
  • Tsunade and Samui have large animated breast.
  • Sexist behavior is played for jokes, like Naruto's teammate making sexist quips or a mentor being a peeping Tom.
  • A reoccurring female character is sometimes noted for having large breasts. In one scene, a child bumps into her while running and rubs his face against her chest area saying her breasts remind him of his blanket. Played for comedic effect.
  • There are sexual innuendo thrown in from time to time, but they're benign and comical. Some brief nudity is shown, although it's always brief and never explicit.
  • Naruto can use a power called his "Sexy Jutsu" to change his clone into a girl, The jutsu is used to prank classmates.
  • Some jokes about dating and kissing. There isn't fan service as the main focus of the show is naruto becoming stronger and teamwork.
  • In one episode, Naruto and Konohamuru try to sneak peeks at older women in stores. Nothing is seen.
  • In one later episode, around 164 or 165, there is a character bathing, nothing is seen except shoulders.
  • In Episode 148 or 149, Naruto is in the forest with a few others. Hinata goes off behind a waterfall to practice her jutsu. Naruto crushes over her, without knowing who it is.

Violence & Gore

  • A boy pukes blood when a man tramples his belly (uncut version only).
  • Moderate Animated pretty Strong Violence.
  • It about martial art and ninja main theme. Fights are frequent but mostly bloodless -- at most, viewers see puddles of blood on the ground or light bleeding at injury site. Potentially scary monsters include reanimated corpses, a three-headed snake, swarming beetles and spiders, various demons, a broken doll marionette, a giant slug and giant larvae, a two-headed wolf, a shark, and a flesh-eating haunted castle.
  • This show is tamer than "Naruto Shippuden" where they have much very intense violence.
  • Male characters get nosebleed when they get aroused by nudity female characters. Played for laughs and slapstick.
  • A man is sliced in half during an assassination attack, the body is silhouetted but very startling and intense. We later discover it was only a shadow clone of the actual man.
  • Naruto is poisoned in one scene and has to stab his hand to get the poison out, blood seeps out as he does it. (In Cartoon Network version, the scene is removed if Naruto using stab himself in his hand, the only showing kunai red screen, and Naruto's blood screen was digitally removed).
  • The battle between the Third Hokage and Orochimaru is very intense.
  • During the Chunnin Exams the ninjas need to battle with people that they know. In these battles a few people die but the deaths are very stylized and intense.
  • The battle between Team 7 and Zabuza is very graphic and intense, especially towards the end as many thugs are killed by Zabuza's rampage.
  • Cartoon Network & YTV: Most of the blood in the fights is either censored by shadows, camera cuts or angles, or removed all together. Some fights are shortened and a few are even removed if they are too bloody to be shown on children's television.
  • UNCUT: Blood spurts from throats, runs down legs and arms, covers faces, stains the environment and weapons, and we hear the crunching sounds of bones being broken.

Profanity

  • 2 use of goddamn
  • Mild name calling, mostly fat shaming not much else.
  • One use of jackass
  • No swearing in sub only goes up to "bastard."
  • In the Japanese Version, many uses of "damn", some uses of "hell" and "bastard". Mild.
  • Mild language, such as "Crap", "Damn", "Ass", "Hell", and "Bastard". In the Viz dub, "Jackass" and "Bitch" are used once each and "Goddamn" was used twice.
  • Put-downs and name calling like "loser", "jerk", "idiot", "fatty", "freak", "fatso" and "flat-chested".
  • In the Uncut version. Very mild and infrequent, like "hell", "damn", "crap", "bastard" and "ass". "Bitch" is said once and is about as strong as the language gets. (Almost all of it is cut from the edited TV version on Cartoon Network)

Alcohol, Drugs & Smoking

  • In the battle with Kimimaro Rock lee is seen drinking sake (alcohol)
  • An underage character get drunk by accident. played for laughs.
  • Characters infrequently drink Japanese wine called sake. (But the English version of Cartoon Network is censored)
  • Smoking is moderate, except one character who is always seen with a cigarette in his mouth. (In the Cartoon Network edited version the cigarettes are censored.)

Frightening & Intense Scenes

  • The ninja battle scenes could pretty intense to some younger viewers.
  • The minor characters are trying to attempted suicide, but they are stopped by heroes
  • Some characters can be scary such as Orochimaru, Itachi and Gaara (Gaara a antagonist only).
  • Orochimaru's lair can be fairly scary and creepy.
  • Sasuke's "Curse Seal" transformation can be scary for younger children, as he grows wings.
  • Orochimaru himself is scary, being power-hungry. He is immortal and achieves this by devouring another person's body like a snake. This is never shown, but the victims can be heard screaming.
  • Naruto's "Nine-Tailed Fox" transformation is somewhat scary, as he grows fangs and red eyes. A monsterous orange aura envelopes him.

Spoilers

The Parents Guide items below may give away important plot points.

Sex & Nudity

  • Naruto is accidentally nudged into Sasuke kissing him full on the lips.
  • I one instance a main character named Jiraya (a.k.a. "Pervy Sage") in a flashback calls his female teammate a "flat-chested cutting board". After he looses a bet with her.

Violence & Gore

  • The Third Hokage is seen using a jutsu that takes out the characters soul. Later the Third Hokage is seen coughing up blood.
  • Naruto episode 117 is probably the most violent episode in the first part of naruto.
  • During the invasion of Konoha we see people watching their houses be destroyed by giant creatures and other ninjas.
  • The Uchiha Clan massacre is intense with blood splattering. You do not see much of any violence, but you are aware of whats happening.

Frightening & Intense Scenes

  • When Gaara is changing into his "Shukaku Form" his face becomes very distorted and twisted, his eyes evil and slitted.
  • Fairly upsetting scenes, such as Naruto and Gaara's backstories. Both were abused and ostracized as children due to having creatures called "tailed beasts" sealed inside them. They are shown orphaned and alone, crying on few occasions.
  • Certain episodes contain especially emotional deaths, specifically Zabuza and Haku's death.
  • Orochimaru vs. The Third Hokage gets very intense. The Third Hokage summons the Reaper which seals the ability for Orochimaru. The entire scene can be frightening to young children.
  • The deaths of Sasuke's family and clan is very sad, mostly because it was his older brother that did it.
  • The death of Sarutobi, The Third Hokage, is very sad.
  • When Sasuke and Naruto get into a fight after Sasuke leaves the Leaf Village, both using their strongest forms is very upsetting, because they discuss the friendship they once had, and Sasuke is ready to kill Naruto if it means severing that bond. Naruto tells Sasuke that he will bring him back to the left village even if it means beating him to a pulp. (This fight scene is intense in uncut version, but as well Cartoon Network will be edited this fight.)
