A so-so movie due to the mixture of goods and bads
zzmale18 March 2004
The literal translation of the title of this movie is: Camel bells in the Desert.

Camel bells are used to make noise as the camel caravans traveling in the Gobi desert to identify their positions. The same camel caravan is also used for scientific research and exploration in addition to commerce, such as the geological/mineral exploration described here.

The good thing about this movie is that it gives a relatively accurate picture of early geological scientists' research, which is not far from what really happened in history, but the bad thing about this movie is that the addition of battle scene was added purely for the political propaganda purposes, and such addition tarnished the overall presentation and resulting in a so-so movie, not as good as it could be.
