It's not bad but not good either. Yeah, the training montage is iconic, yeah thematically it was great that he didn't win and just proved to everyone that he isn't truly a bum like he said he would. Yeah anyone can rise from something is an inspirational central message but nothing really stood out about this story-wise. The romance subplot took a decent amount of screentime and didn't really add anything to the main storyline, the ending love confession was cheesy in my opinion and I get that rocky and Paulie were friends but why would you help the guy who admitted to only using his sister to get a piece of the fame pie, and constantly hounded you for a job despite firmly turning him down? Overall passable but not anything truly great.
