Review of Vera Drake

Vera Drake (2004)
10/10
A deeply moving and very realistic movie

Warning: Spoilers
I watched this movie knowing full well what I was getting myself into, yet at the end it still got the best of me. I was blown away by this movie, written and directed by Mike Leigh, I thought this was a hurricane of a movie. I felt joy at the times of joy, and from the first 45 minutes of this movie I became settled in with Vera's life and her daily routine. Then Leigh hits us moviegoers with what I call an Atom bomb of all movies. Some of the volunteer work done by Vera includes giving abortions to ladies who are usually poor and have no other way of getting rid of their babies. I thought the drama was very real and just perfect. Imelda Staunton's performance ultimately convinced me that she truly does care for others to the wildest extreme. A very good movie, its worth any price.
