Ahsoka: Part Eight: The Jedi, the Witch and the Warlord (2023)
What is yet to come
Finally a Star Wars show with a nice pace. Love the storyline even though some parts are a bit predictable. But maybe this is because we now know the characters so we'll. It's nice to finally see the rebels in live action. Unfortunately it does make "Ahsoka " feel like on big build up. A lot more is yet to come and at the end of the show there are a lot of lose ends. But this also gives the opportunity for a lot of greatness yet to come.
I really like admiral Thrawn, even though he looks a little off. The original voice makes up for it.
I do hope they will improve on the lightsaber fights. They still look a little stiff and rehearsed. In a previous episode you can clearly see that Haiden has a lot more choreography training with the sabers. Can't wait for what's next!!
Black Panther: Wakanda Forever (2022)
Why the bad reviews?
This movie was very solid. The opening is dedicated to Chadwick Boseman in a beautiful and powerful way. Is the movie Predictable? Yes. But not in a bad way. In my opinion the sequel is actually better than the first. Which was even more predictable. The acting is probably the best I've seen in any Marvel movie. Miss Basset is just perfect as a queen and very convincing as a mother. Her acting was Oscar worthy.
Tenochs acting is also very good. He plays Namor with passion and belief. I haven't heard from Tenoch before this movie, but I am sure we will hear a lot more from him in the future.
Namor is a villain with a vision that is predictable but also makes sense. You could in a way, root for him, because his fear is not unrealistic. Namor is a different kind of villian. He could have easily become the (anti) hero. If they had switched the story up just a little bit.
Please don't focus on all the reviews but just go see this movie!
Impact Winter (2022)
Can't wait for more
Very good show, with good voice actors and a great story. Really like the plot twists, and the way the story develops. Right and wrong become all twisted. A nice fresh take on vampires..........................................
The story build is great as well as the character dynamic. Penelope, Felix, Jep, Rook and Whisper are all great written side characters.
This show created a base for an interesting new world where a lot of stories can take place. From old and new rulers to an old and new world. Can't wait to hear more, and hopefully see more. This show is perfect for a series or a movie. Maybe even several. Darcy and Hope both have a great character arc and can still develop a lot more.
She-Hulk: Attorney at Law (2022)
Actually not bad at all!! And genuinely funny!
When I saw the first trailer I was quit concerned about this new show, but the first episode was actually really good. And genuinely funny. Can't wait to see what comes next!
Morbius (2022)
Love the character, but the story; no
Compared to some of the reviews, I actually really liked Jared Leto as Morbius. He is an odd character which he plays well, but it also feels like he doesn't get any room to truly act. I also think Morbius himself is actually a really cool character that could have a great story to tell. This is just not it..
This movies suffers from either terrible writing or terrible editing. Probably both. The story starts of rather good but as soon as Morbius is introduced it all just becomes a mess. The Milo story makes absolutely no sense and tyrese Gibson as an FBI agent? That was probably one of the worst ideas ever. And the FBI that just kinda accepts Morbius having a lust for blood? Like it is just a normal day. The action scenes feel rushed, In these scenes you can see how cool Morbius could have been. Actually, everything feels rushed. Maybe this movie and this character just really suffer from not having an R- rating. Maybe then they could have done more with the story.
I hope Leto will get a second chance in a second movie with a WAY better story.
In my opinion they should only have focused on Morbius himself. Maybe like this:
Morbius finds a cure. At first he feels great, even becomes a bit cocky. Starts to enjoy life and starts drinking and finally goes out. Doing things he never could. But then strange things start to happen. Just little things. He wakes up without knowing how he got to his bed ( maybe the alcohol) then the next morning he wakes up with his jacket missing, then he wakes up with blood on his clothes.
Meanwhile you hear about a killing spree on the news. Morbius finds it horrible but doesn't think anything of it. Then his behavior starts to slowly change. He is becoming more agitated and aggressive, ( his alter ego starts to scratch the surface) but people around him just see it as cocky and arrogant. Then one day a little girl is brought into the hospital. She is a survivor of the killer. Her parents are both dead and she won't make it either. Morbius has to threat her and is horrified by what he sees and hears. She looks familiar, but he just dismisses it.
Right before she dies she recognizes something about Morbius that her attacker also had. Maybe a ring or a necklace or something. She starts to scream and then dies in horror. Morbius is horrified by what happened and suddenly starts to get flashbacks.
Then he starts to research her attack and he finds out her parents also look familiar. He starts digging deeper and learns that al the victims look familiar and he starts getting more and more horrific flashbacks.
Eventually he finds out what really happened and is overcome with guild. That's when he needs to learn more about his alter ego and how to control its needs. And eventually fuse with his alter ego for something heroic.
No villain is introduced yet. Morbius is the villain of his own movie.
Stranger Things: Chapter Nine: The Piggyback (2022)
Very impressive movie!... ehh... episode! Different view on Max
I really love this show! Especially the actors. They are all so good! Even the new characters. Where do they keep finding them?!
This episode felt like a really good movie. The pacing was great and it actually didn't feel like 2,5 hours.
My only complaint is the amount of plot lines. For me there was just one too many. I didn't like the populair boys. From the beginning you know where this is gonna go. It just felt unnecessary and predictable.
The other thing I really didn't like: the death of Eddy! I mean come on! I really started to love this guy! But I do get why they did it.
What I don't get however is why people are complaining about the fact that Max didn't die. Says who? I think the Duffer brothers know very well what they are doing. And maybe.... There is something else to it. When El visited Max in the hospital, Max was not there... there was only black and water.... So what happened to Max? And right before she passed away for that one minute, she had blue/white eyes... just like someone or something else can have. Who says El actually saved Max...
Obi-Wan Kenobi: Part IV (2022)
What is going on?
So, this episode was not the best one to be honest. I like Reva as a character but she just has too many punch lines. It is not was she is saying that needs to be bad, it needs to be what she does. This episode also feels a bit rushed compared to the previous episodes. And a bit predictable. I'm still giving it a seven because it is still very much Star Wars and on the plus side there is always Obi wan. He is slowly getting himself back in the fight. He hesitates less to use his lightsaber and he is becoming stronger with the force. I think this is done very well. They really try to show you everything Obi wan has been through since his last fight with Anakin. He was completely broken after everything that happened.
My main complaint however is a lot of the backlash from SOME of the so called fans. They really need to have a good look at themselves in the mirror. It is not Disney that is destroying Star Wars. Sadly, they are..
Some of them have driven actors to a breaking point. Some of them hate on everything that is not the original, just because it is not the original. There is just no pleasing them. I for one, am happy the Star Wars universe is still very much a life. Sure, I don't like everything, but I don't have to. But they are slowly making sure that the Star Wars universe will die. Who would want to write a new show after all the hate that has been written, over and over again!
This show is obviously being bombarded. Just take a look at the likes and dislikes on reviews that "dare" to be positive. 4 or 5 to 1. It is becoming hilarious and extremely sad at the same time.
I feel sorry for the people that work on this show and want the best for the Star Wars fans, because they themselves probably love Star Wars just as much as any other. Some of the fans actually think that they are lazy writers, poor actors, or destroying characters deliberately just because they don't do exactly what they want them to do.
I get it if you don't like this show. You have a right to your own opinion, but at least try to put it into a good review without throwing mud and without making everything so personal.
Obi-Wan Kenobi: Part III (2022)
For some Star Wars fans it is never good enough
Love this show. It feels mature and Ewan is great. Leia is a bit much, but still how I would have imagined her as a child.
The pace is great. Not to slow not to fast. Didn't expect Vader to make an appearance this early in the show. The moment Obi senses Vader, just wow. The look on his face, the physical pain he feels, the disbelief in his eyes!
I can't wrap my head around the amount of bad reviews. Sometimes it feels like die hard Star Wars fans really only like the old stuff and don't even give anything else a chance... grow up. I consider myself a real fan, but some reviews just make me feel ashamed. It is so easy to puke on something, to try to destroy something that someone else is building. I actually think that Disney is really trying to please the fans. To bad that they will never be able to in the minds of some. They will judge before they have even seen anything.
I still love the original trilogy (since day one), started to like the prequels eventually. And actually enjoy that there is new content that I can devour. (Except for Boba, really didn't like that one)
People complain about how bad the lightsaber fight was... really? First off: Obi hasn't used it in a long time. So it makes sense. Look at the fear on Obi's face, brilliantly acted by Ewan. Second: did you even see the original three movies?? You cannot say that those where great either. Vader wasn't the bad guy we know today. He had a master, and really had nothing to say, he was just really impressive and really really cool! Vader is actually brutal now. As he is supposed to be. Obi needs both hands to deflect Vader. He only uses one hand. He isn't trying to win, he wants to break Obi Wan mentally. And that fire scene, absolutely well done. Again, Vader could have easily finished Obi, but he wants more. More pain, more torture. A quick death will never be good enough.
Give this show a chance and keep an open mind. Sure, there are some plot holes when you ONLY take the original trilogy as reference, but come on, not everything has to be perfect. Just enjoy this and go a long for the ride. This is Obi Wan Kenobi!!
The Batman (2022)
This is the Batman
Great, great movie. It's more of a thriller with Batman in it. Loved the directing and the cast. The movie has some very iconic shots. Pattinson gives probably the best portrayal of Batman I've seen so far in the movies. I love how weird and antisocial he is as Bruce Wayne. He hasn't been Bruce Wayne since his parents died. He is only in his comfort zone when he wears the cowl and cape. During one scene when something happens when he is Bruce Wayne, you can just see him altering his whole demeanor and he just switches into Batman mode right away. I've never seen an actor do this so brilliantly. I mean the previous actors where all good in their own way, but Pattinson makes both characters come to life and really become one.
Really liked the Riddler as well. It's easy to mess up this character but I think they just about nailed the real Edward.
Its not a Marvel movie with loads of action and lots of humor. They are great as well, but Batman is no superhero. This is a true Batman movie.
