Fox could be closing the book on 9-1-1: Lone Star.
The successful 9-1-1 spinoff has been off the air for over a year and will return with a 12-episode fifth season in the fall.
If the latest report from Deadline is to be believed, the show’s future beyond that doesn’t look very bright.
The outlet states that the cast will be looking for other jobs when production wraps on 9-1-1: Lone Star Season 5 next month.
Moreover, Sierra McClain, who has played Grace Ryder since the drama’s 2020 debut, will not return.
Details about what went on behind the scenes have been kept under wraps, but the outlet hints that the cast had been trying to negotiate deals that included raises for Season 5.

As a small-screen veteran, Zachary Quinto is no stranger to building a television persona, much like the role in Heroes that made him a household name.
The actor then went on to be a veteran of the hit horror show American Horror Story, appearing in multiple seasons starting as early as 2022, during the show's eleventh season.
Now, the TV titan is trying his hand at a medical drama, which has become its own creature in the television industry.
But if there's one thing the actor is good at, it's coming across as calm and collected, much like his character Spock from the Star Trek films.
Brilliant Minds is on NBC's fall line-up, and here is everything we know about the show so far!

It’s been weeks since CBS dropped the shocking news announcing that NCIS: Hawai’i, arguably one of the whole franchise’s best rated shows, would have no more new seasons after the third one wrapped it all up.
From that moment on, the ditched series has become a constant object of everyone’s talk in the social media, with some of the most devoted fans taking it further and starting a campaign with a petition pleading the network to bring NCIS: Hawai’i back to the screen.
Now that CBS has repeatedly confirmed (mostly by its disregard for fans’ request) that the show isn’t coming back, the network’s position seems to have gotten to a worse point after its official annual ratings have gone out to the public.
According to the recent reports published by TV Line, NCIS: Hawai’i has become the most-watched show that was canceled with no final season planned.

Belt-tightening and cost-cutting continues across Hollywood as the Peak TV era has come to a close, and another legacy TV brand is being shuttered as a result.
Sony Television is shutting down its TriStar Television banner, which recently has been responsible for series like “Lucky Hank” (AMC), “The Afterparty” (Apple TV+), “On Becoming a God in Central Florida” (Showtime), “The Last Tycoon” (Amazon), and “Good Girls Revolt” (Amazon). In its heyday, TriStar TV produced and distributed “The Nanny,” “Mad About You,” and many more series.
A source says the decision is part of a larger shift around Sony Pictures Television’s boutique labels, not unlike the shuttering of the Gemstone brand several years ago, and that the hope is to weave all of TriStar’s values and goals into the bigger studio.
As THR first reported, TriStar TV’s active productions will be absorbed into the larger Sony Television operation,...

Sony Pictures Television is closing TriStar Television, the studio behind Apple TV+’s “The Afterparty” and AMC’s “Lucky Hank.”
As Sony shutters the division and folds the studio into the larger TV org, executive vice president Jennifer Turner and senior vice president of development Nicole Norwood are exiting the company. Other staff cuts are not expected as a result of TriStar TV closing and the Sony TV drama department will take oversight of current TriStar’s current TV projects.
Sources tell Variety that the move to shut down TriStar TV, which also produced series including “On Becoming a God in Central Florida,” “Good Girls Revolt” and “The Last Tycoon,” is part of an overall strategy shift at Sony Pictures Entertainment regarding its boutique labels.

Sony Pictures Television is shuttering its TriStar TV banner.
Sources tell The Hollywood Reporter that TriStar TV exec vp Jennifer Turner and senior vp development Nicole Norwood are leaving as the division is being folded into the larger Sony TV fold. No additional layoffs are expected to come as part of the move.
Reps for Sony declined comment.
The decision to absorb TriStar TV into the larger Sony Pictures Television fold comes at a time of industry-wide consolidation as streamers, networks and studios alike right-size their programming and staffing needs in an era of belt-tightening following the end of the Peak TV phenomenon.
TriStar TV’s mission was to champion diverse, authentic characters and underrepresented voices. Those values have since been incorporated into the larger studio, overseen by Katherine Pope, to whom Turner reported. Sony Pictures Television Studios’ drama department will now oversee the development of current TriStar TV projects.

It doesn’t feel like Tuesday nights without Will Trent. We miss it already.
It’s only been a few days since the Will Trent Season 2 finale, which will leave fans talking for months.
Many significant moments could change the storyline arcs for Season 3, ranging from Will arresting Angie to Gina threatening to divorce Michael and wanting custody of the kids.
Before we discuss the storylines, let’s discuss how the long hiatus could affect the series. In theory, Will Trent has always been a midseason show with around 13 episodes.
However, ABC renewed Will Trent with 18 episodes, hoping to play the series from January to May. In theory, it seemed like a realistic idea, but when they ended Season 2 on such a massive cliffhanger, fans wanted it to return as soon as possible.
The chatter will die down after a while, so waiting until January wasn’t wise after that controversial episode.

In more recent times, the first medical drama that seems to come to everybody’s mind is Grey’s Anatomy. It is now airing its 20th season, and, although not many people consider it to be as good as it was in the 2000s, there are still enough viewers to keep the show going and renewed for more years.
There are also such series as Chicago Med, or The Good Doctor, which nears its ending after becoming an internet phenomenon. However, none of them are coming close to the greatness of a scandal that prompted ABC to get rid of its 2000 medical show Wonderland.
Why Was the TV Show Wonderland Canceled?
Like almost every other TV show that isn't renewed on the network, Wonderland was officially canceled due to low ratings. What's so peculiar about this show, however, is that it wasn't canceled after just one unsuccessful season, as is often the case.

The Good Doctor’s television run is now officially over, as the show’s long-awaited finale premiered this week. Despite all the heart-shattering plot twists that the season has been shocking its fans with throughout its whole run, the ending didn’t seem that tragic or dramatic at all, even though there was still some room for grieving.
Apart from the fact that the show left all its main characters in quite good positions in life, it also finally made it up to someone whose tragedy wasn’t The Good Doctor’s main focus.
The Finale Makes Bittersweet Closure for a Heartbreaking Story
The seventh season’s episode 5, titled Who At Peace, had fans dumbfounded by Dr. Asher Wolke’s tragic death when he was brutally killed by two anti-semites near a synagogue. Asher’s passing came as something even more heartbreaking given that he was finally about to embrace...

He's been a little lost since the Or 2.0 debacle on Chicago Med Season 8 Episode 22, and one patient after another left the hospital under tragic circumstances.

[Warning: The following contains Major spoilers for The Good Doctor series finale.] Freddie Highmore‘s Dr. Shaun Murphy will always be out there somewhere helping people heal. That was the main message The Good Doctor creators wanted to deliver in the May 21 series finale, and they did that through a time jump that revealed how Shaun and Dr. Claire Browne’s (Antonia Thomas) careers evolved after the events of the finale — and what memorable events they were. Shaun was determined to craft a miraculous solution to Dr. Aaron Glassman (Richard Schiff) and Claire’s cancer cases, but Glassman refused treatment. Rather than spend his final months undergoing potentially painful medical procedures, Glassman chose to make the most of the six months he had left. Since he was leaving his job because of his prognosis, Glassman performed Shaun and Charlie’s (Kayla Cromer) non-Fda approved experimental treatment on Claire. Glassman no doubt lost his medical license because of this,...

The Good Doctor’s 7-season-long television run was officially wrapped up on May 21 when the final episode hit the screens, and fans were indeed left on a very emotional note with the show’s heart-shattering plot twists.
Despite the shocking turn of events shown in the series’ last episodes, the finale kept sticking to Shaun Murphy’s unconditional commitment to his vocation instead of turning to the character’s personal dilemmas.
Though it still was a right thing to opt for, The Good Doctor’s creators initially had a completely different idea for the show’s ending, eventually cramming it into the storyline, just a bit earlier.

There are many ways to end a show, and all of them have been done. We've seen characters move on to symbolize moving on with their lives, like Friends and New Girl. We've been hit with the realization of the purgatory nature of Lost's setup. We've seen Game of Thrones ruin everyone's hopes and dreams and twist the story in the final moments.
With some better than others, the finale of favorite series is always sad to watch. And even the shows which went viral all over the internet for being nonsensical and outright offensive at parts, deserve to have an episode that sets the characters off to lives behind the cameras. ABC’s The Good Doctor is not an exception.

There is no doubt how much the WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes affected the industry, as to this day some shows are facing changes in budgeting, scheduling and casting due to the events that took place in 2023. Fortunately, both writers and actors were granted fair working conditions.
The shows and movies released in the second half of 2023 and throughout 2024 will never be the same in terms of length and quality. This is especially true for those series that will have to say goodbye to their audiences.
The Good Doctor Season 7 Finale
Whether or not the decision to cancel The Good Doctor after season 7 was in any way related to the strikes is not publicly known, and probably never will be. However, the shortened final season is a direct result of the network's need to fit filming into a tight schedule and an even tighter budget.

After seven seasons, “The Good Doctor” came to a heart-rending conclusion, emotionally devastating the dedicated fans who signed on to say so long to Dr. Shaun Murphy and the rest of the cast and crew who populated San Jose St. Bonaventure Hospital.
Variety talked with series star Freddie Highmore (Dr. Shaun Murphy) about saying farewell to the creators and actors he’s shared laborious science monologues and anxiety-inducing surgical scenes with for seven years.
What was the very last scene that you shot as Dr. Shaun Murphy?
The last scene that I filmed was the one where, ultimately, Leah sits down next to Shaun and then talks him into going to becoming aware, I guess, of the situation facing both Claire and Dr. Glassman. That motivates him in the short term to go and speak to Claire [Antonia Thomas] and then come to terms with the fact that Glassman will...

Yes, unfortunately, we do have official confirmation that ABC did indeed cancel the series. According to the folks over at Deadline.com, ABC made the sad announcement way back in January 2024. Craig Erwich who is the president of Disney Television Group did have some very nice words to say about the show during the cancellation announcement. He stated, "Thanks to David Shore and Liz Friedman’s creative direction and anchored by Freddie Highmore’s performance, The Good Doctor has captivated audiences, who have deeply connected with Dr. Shaun Murphy and the staff at San Jose St. Bonaventure Hospital. [Warning: The following contains Major spoilers for The Good Doctor series finale, “Goodbye.”] The Good Doctor has come to a poignant end. The series finale saw Dr. Shaun Murphy (Freddie Highmore) taking on the most personal medical cases of his career as he fought to save his best friend, Dr. Claire Browne (Antonia Thomas), and his father, Dr. Aaron Glassman (Richard Schiff), both of whom had cancer. Glassman chose not to treat his terminal glioblastoma, opting instead to spend his final six months enjoying every second of time he had left. That came with stepping down from his position as co-president of St. Bonaventure Hospital. Shaun refused to accept Glassman’s decision and gathered all the doctors to form a treatment plan for him and Claire, who was experiencing life-threatening complications from her breast cancer. Shaun struggled to acknowledge the real possibility that both Glassman and Claire could die, so he spent much of the episode fighting...

ABC’s The Good Doctor ended its seven-season run tonight with Part 2 of its two-hour finale which, like many episodes of the medical drama, mixed tragedy and triumph to close out Shaun Murphy’s journey on a hopeful note.

They set Shaun on a race to help two of the most important people in his life who are both in grave danger.

I don't know how to feel now that The Good Doctor is over.
The last five minutes of The Good Doctor Season 7 Episode 10 were everything I'd hoped for in the finale, but most of the hour was so depressing I was counting down the minutes until the end.
That's not what a series finale should inspire in loyal fans who have stuck with a series for seven years.
Most of the finale was dedicated to Dr. Glassman's refusal to consider further treatment for his brain cancer while elsewhere, Claire's life hung in the balance.
Shaun was determined to save Glassman, who was determined not to be saved, and it seemed like the chances were the series would end with a double funeral after spending the last three episodes mourning Asher's death.
That wasn't entertaining or cathartic. It was unnecessary and cruel.

Note: The following story contains spoilers from “The Good Doctor” Season 7, Episode 10.
“The Good Doctor” made one last groundbreaking save in the ABC medical drama’s series finale on Tuesday, which executive producers called a “challenging” finale for the characters after the show moved past its originally envisioned conclusion.
Showrunner Liz Friedman and creator David Shore told TheWrap that the initial pitch for the show’s ending involved the autistic Dr. Shaun Murphy (Freddie Highmore) becoming a father, a milestone he reached at the end of Season 6. The show moving past its original conclusion and getting to explore Shaun as a father before saying goodbye with Season 7, led to the more personal finale storyline involving the doctors of San Jose St. Bonaventure Hospital working to save both the beloved Dr. Claire Browne (Anthonia Thomas) and Dr. Aaron Glassman (Richard Schiff).

The Good Doctor did the best it could with its last-minute series finale.
Surprisingly, it was a bittersweet farewell that reminded viewers of the impression Shaun made on the staff and patients of St. Jose St. Bonaventure Hospital when he arrived during the series premiere.
At the beginning of Tuesday’s final installment, Shaun was reeling from the news that Glassman had just months to live and opted to split his team between finding a cure and simultaneously trying to find a way to save Claire.
Shaun vocalized the importance of saving Glassman, who was resigned to the fact that he had months to live and believed spending it with Shaun, Lea, and Steve was worth it.
Shaun’s best plan would have meant Glassman would have been in and out of surgery, giving him a year at best, which the Chief of Surgery didn’t believe was worthwhile when...
