2024 was going to be the biggest year for Jujutsu Kaisen, as the series featured some of the greatest moments in the history of the manga world. And even though the year is not even close to its end, Gege Akutami’s magnum opus has already reached the top and will probably dominate the industry until the end of the series.

The intriguing thing is that Jujutsu Kaisen was not the only manga that was delivering bangers this year. Other series like One Piece and Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End also showcased some interesting plots that grabbed the attention of the viewers. However, Jujutsu Kaisen still managed to beat them all.
This was proved when the half-year manga sales of 2024 were released, and Jujutsu Kaisen beat the industry giant and one of the Big Three: One Piece. Although the records are only for the first half of 2024, the...

The year turns. Spring is now in bloom and that means a new season of anime, but for many the sheer number of possible choices can be daunting and it can be easy to miss a smaller hidden gem. I have gathered 12 of the season's new shows to help you decide if they are worth checking out and where you can find them. Only new shows, so no Black Butler: Public School Arc, My Hero Academia season 7, Laid Back Camp season 3, etc. as if you're already a fan you'll be watching them anyway and if you're curious about any of them I would recommend you start at the very beginning, I hear it's a very good place to start.

Aging is complicated. On one hand, to “age gracefully” is regarded as among the most noble things someone can do. When you allow yourself to embrace the fact that you’re getting older and accept life as it irreversibly rolls forward as an example of the beauty of mortality rather than the doom of it, it provides a sense of relief to the other way to view aging, which is as an existential threat. Because the future and death itself is unknowable, but what is knowable is what happens to the body and mind when you age, the process by which we lose our youth and become more susceptible to the myriad traumas of being a walking, talking, thinking meat suit. Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End is unlikely to assuage anyone’s anxieties about aging and death for too long. No amount of platitudes or pop culture hand-holding can truly...

"Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood" has turned 15 years old. Debuting in 2009, it was the second (and more faithful) anime adaptation of the original manga by Hiromu Arakawa. It's one of the best anime of its decade and genre (battle shonen) too. For as much stock as you can put in fan community rankings, "Brotherhood" maintained the #1 spot on MyAnimeList for years and was only recently dethroned by 2023's breakout hit, "Frieren: Beyond Journey's End."
"Neon Genesis Evangelion" and "Cowboy Bebop" first converted me to anime, while I admit I watched the 2003 "Fullmetal Alchemist" first. Still, I'd say "Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood" is what made me an anime fan, not just an occasional admirer. It's one of the most satisfying experiences I've ever had with a TV series (I watched the last 13 episodes in a single sitting) and the high I've been chasing with anime since.
"Fullmetal Alchemist" is different from many other shonen (young boys) anime/manga.

The year 2024 has been a grand one in terms of the anticipation upcoming animes have created, with Kaiju No. 8 and Solo Leveling being no different. There was a long list of many shows that had been announced, however, not all were able to live up to the hype as many wanted. Anime such as Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End and The Apothecary Diaries had just ended for the season, a lot was relying on others.

“The Journey to Ende Continues” as the first season of Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End ended earlier this month. This was, actually, the first week without Frieren since the short winter holiday break and fans are quite sad that one of the hit series of this season is not airing anymore, although a second season is – as we have written – more or less certain. But, although the series is on a break, the guys behind it are keeping the hype alive as additional material and news surface on a regular basis, so even now – we have some new Frieren materials for fans.

The first season of Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End ended in March, after just six months on the air and a mere 28 episodes, which is not nearly enough for this marvelous series. The season ended with the phrase “The Journey to Ende Continues,” which many fans have taken as a confirmation of a second season, especially since it has been used in many other released videos and images. Having said all of this, a second season is basically a sure thing despite no explicit official confirmation, and while fans are waiting for new information, the series is on a break. But that doesn’t mean that we’re done with Frieren, as we have more exciting news to report.
Character popularity polls are nothing strange in the world of manga and anime. Fans are able to cast their votes (on a one-person-one-vote basis) to determine which characters from a series are the most popular.

The Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End anime just completed its first season, teasing a second season, although without a proper release date. At the same, the manga is going on a short break until April. Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End became probably the biggest hit of the Fall 2023 / Winter 2024 season, surpassing even major titles like Solo Leveling and Blue Exorcist. The fans simply loved all that Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End brought with it, and it certainly seemed like something new and refreshing in more ways than one.
We have already written about the prospects for a second season, as well as the upcoming exhibition dedicated to the series, and in this article, we’d like to report yet another piece of good news for fans of the series.
Namely, before the anime series premiered, the ongoing manga series, had sold roughly 10 million copies. A lot, but still a relatively small number when compared to some similar titles.

Allow me to open this article with an obvious statement: Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End has made its mark as one of the most finely crafted anime in years. From its stunning visuals to the commanding performances of its voice cast, the team at Madhouse deserve their flowers for what they’ve achieved. One of the most formidable tools in its arsenal is its ability to unveil a story calmly and patiently, in such a way that you are just as engaged with the tranquil moments as you are when the action is dialed up a few notches. And it’s with this focus that I want to convey exactly how special a feat it is. The central themes behind Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End are those of discovery; discovery of oneself, and of a world that was once taken for granted. Its eponymous protagonist Frieren is an interesting contrast of personality traits.
