- TriviaJohn Saxon agreed to be in the film based on a poorly translated English version of the script, which omitted the cannibalism scenes and appeared to be a simple Vietnam War allegory. He found out about the actual content during filming, and was so shocked he briefly considered dropping out of the movie altogether. He never watched the finished film.
- GoofsWhen Mr. Hopper exits the door, Mrs. Hopper has a brown shawl on. The camera cuts to a close-up of Mrs. Hopper with no shawl on then returns to a shot of Mrs. Hopper with the shawl back on.
- Quotes
Captain McCoy: Charlie can you hear me?
Charlie Bukowski: I can hear you. Shitface.

I don't blame him for biting Cinzia. I certainly would!
Can this be the same director who gave us the stately and painterly The Long Hair of Death? Well a fella's got to make a living I guess. Anyway, altho of course Cannibal Apocalypse has its faults it is never boring, it is almost exciting.
John Saxon keeps one interested for most of the running time. John Morghen (or Giovanni Lombardo Radice) is not uninteresting, altho it's a shame all he does for the whole film is sneer and make nasty remarks. It would not have harmed things if they had tried to make him even slightly sympathetic or human. The same goes for poor Tony King, who mostly just bares his teeth and growls for the film. And of course we must give praise to the snake lover herself Cinzia De Carolis. Her scene with Saxon is my favorite thing in the movie. Lastly some word must be said for the policeman who is always at the captain's side. I don't know the actor's name but his voice is surely familiar to anyone who has seen a lot of Italian horror films.
I just wish the filmmakers had put a little more effort into the characterizations so we could better understand what was going on in the minds of the three vets. Possibly I am asking too much. I wonder if the cannibal disease is a kind of cosmic or divine punishment of the Americans for the Vietnam War.
