For Mental Health Awareness Month, we asked Latine comedians and creators we admire how comedy has supported them in overcoming trauma and confronting life's most significant challenges. Read the pieces here.
We don't talk enough about the healing powers of humor. The old saying, "laughter is the best medicine," as cliché as it may be, actually has a lot of truth to it. I learned about the power of laughter at a relatively young age.

The “America’s Got Talent” Season 16 finalists competed for one final time on Tuesday, but it wasn’t enough for NBC to shake ABC and its “Bachelor in Paradise” in terms of key-demo ratings. Bright sunny days and a wonderful world are hopefully ahead for “AGT” contestant Jimmie Herrod, who blew the judges away with his stunning rendition of “What a Wonderful World” on Tuesday’s finals performance episode for Season 16.
Herrod, who was judge Sofia Vergara’s Golden Buzzer pick earlier this season, sang the Louis Armstrong track with such emotion that he ended up bringing all four of the judges — Vergara, Heidi Klum, Howie Mandel and even Simon Cowell — to their feet for a standing ovation at the end. The performance was so good that the rest of the house rose up as well to give him a big round of applause.

“America’s Got Talent” is TV’s only competition show that embraces all forms of variety acts, whether you’re a singer, a comedian, a magician or anything in between. Throughout its nearly two decades years on the air, seven singers have claimed victory with the others being a mix of ventriloquists, magicians, etc. (See the “AGT” winners list.) However, there are four specific variety acts that have yet to win the top prize of $1 million and a headline show in Las Vegas. Can any of these acts make history during Season 16 finale on September 15?

All week long, “America’s Got Talent” viewers have been making their predictions for which of the semifinalists from Group 2 will be advancing to the finale, and the results are in. The five acts most likely to get the green light during Wednesday’s results show are: singer Brooke Simpson, comedian Josh Blue, quick-change artist Lea Kyle, chorale group Northwell Nurse Choir and opera girl Victory Brinker. Do you agree or disagree with our users’ “AGT” odds? Be sure to make your predictions before the September 8 episode airs live on NBC.
At the other end of the spectrum, our “America’s Got Talent” odds-makers predict these six acts will be headed home this week: singing group 1aChord, dance group ChapKidz, comedian Kabir Singh, mentalist Peter Antoniou, acrobatic trio Rialcris and unicyclists UniCircle Flow. Since there are no more wildcards, being cut in this round means an act is out of the competition for good.

Peter Rosalita was one of the front-runners to win “America’s Got Talent” Season 16, which makes his elimination this week all the more shocking. America’s Got Talent made its first round of Season 16 live cuts on Wednesday, sending a handful of hopeful acts packing.
These results came on the heels of Tuesday’s first live episode, which featured several memorable performances from people we thought were frontrunners. Highlights included singer Peter Rosalita stunning viewers with a powerful rendition of Whitney Houston’s “I Have Nothing,” comedian Kabir Singh sharing embarrassing texts from his mom, and escape artist Matt Johnson narrowly cheating death (again) by barely avoiding a chainsaw to the face.

Michael Winslow rose to fame in the 1980s thanks to his role as Larvell Jones, the quirky officer who made sound effects, in the “Police Academy” movies. He later appeared in films like “Gremlins” and “Spaceballs” before retiring from the biz to help raise his kids after his wife died. Now, the 62-year-old voicetramentalist is hoping to return to the entertainment industry and he’s using “America’s Got Talent” as the stepping stone for how to get there. Heidi Klum is notoriously the harshest critic when it comes to judging stand-up comedians on “America’s Got Talent.” However, she completely fell in love with 27-year-old Cam Bertrand and his jokes about the struggles of buying wine with a baby face. The Tampa, Florida resident has gone through life appearing as a teenager — “I look 17 at best,” he noted — which tends to cause him problems at the liquor store. All four panelists easily voted “yes” to send Cam through to the next round, which means we’ll see him again in the Judge Cuts round. Watch the “AGT” video above.
“I got Heidi? That’s a win in itself!” Cam shouted from the stage, as Heidi got up from her seat and danced around in a tight circle. Simon Cowell then asked Cam how much experience he has doing gigs, and the young man responded, “I get on stage almost every night of the week.
