It looks like the Star Wars franchise is on a roll as Leslye Headland’s The Acolyte is the newest addition to the franchise. The show had created immense hype prior to its release date, and it has managed to live up to the buzz. The series has featured a magnetic and compelling storyline that would make its viewers want to watch the episodes immediately before it is even released.

The prequel series has a significant impact on the viewers because everything about the show is just perfect down to the last minute detail. Despite the show being a knockout, Headland has been the center of criticism because fans have criticized her ideas and how the show is too woke compared to the other movies and TV series in the franchise; and she can’t catch a break from making the fans mad about her ideas.

A cowardly governor hides under the covers, clutching his wives and hoarded riches. Outside the governor’s guard squabbles with warriors hired to provide extra protection. They all fear a secret defender of the people, a masked hero who has never failed to escape the grasp of oppressors. The warriors and the guards draw their weapons, ready and waiting. But when a sleekly masked figure all dressed in black lands within their midsts, they can do nothing to stop him. He floats above their heads, dives below their punches, and deflects all of their attacks.
He leaps from their heads and disarms them with a single swift move, making his way to the governor’s hidden treasure. Grasping the ill-gotten plunder, the figure slips away, thanking the governor for his “contribution” to the people. The Iron Monkey has struck again.

Honk Kong’s Donnie Yen is known worldwide for his role in the martial arts action film Ip Man. The actor-fighter is known for his exceptional skills and stunt choreography and has starred not just in Chinese films, but also in American films such as Shanghai Nights, XXX: Return of Xander Cage, and more recently in John Wick: Chapter 4.
While Yen played a blind warrior named Caine in John Wick 4, it was not the first time that he played a blind warrior in an American film. He previously starred in Gareth Edwards’ Star Wars spinoff Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, in which he played Chirrut Îmwe, a warrior who is part of the Guardians of the Whills. The idea to make him blind was reportedly Yen’s.

However, one manga in particular has the possibility to do so.

The John Wick franchise has, in addition to Keanu Reeves’ titular character, given fans multiple stellar characters to be nostalgic about. While the latest iteration ended with Wick seemingly dying at the steps of the Basilica of Sacré Coeur, Donnie Yen’s character has recently received a spinoff, which is set to continue the story of Caine.
Keanu Reeves in John Wick: Chapter 4. | Lionsgate
Yen played a blind assassin in John Wick: Chapter 4, with the spinoff expected to delve into his story following the events of the movie. Regardless, the actor also played an equally memorable role in the 206-released Rogue One, the first installment of the Star Wars anthology series. The movie saw Yen play another badass blind character in the form of Chirrut Imwe, a warrior who believes in the force, and arguably deserves his own spinoff, just like John Wick’s Caine.

The John Wick Universe grows ever wider. Following the release of explosive quadrilogy closer John Wick: Chapter 4, last September fans were invited to check in to The Continental on Prime Video. And, in just a few short weeks, we’ll be seeing Ana de Armas bring a whole new meaning to bullet ballet in spin-off movie Ballerina. But Lionsgate aren’t done there. Per The Hollywood Reporter, Donnie Yen is set to reprise his role as blind assassin Caine in an upcoming standalone spin-off all of his own.
When last we saw Caine, the assassin — fresh from his (seemingly fatal) duel with Keanu Reeves' Wick — was being approached by a blade-wielding Akira (Rina Sawayama) on the streets of Paris. Presumably he makes it out alive though, as the studio has revealed this film “will continue Yen’s story arc following the events of John Wick: Chapter 4, as Caine has...

The John Wick franchise became a cultural phenomenon after the release of the first film in 2014. With its intricate characters, interconnected plotlines, and elaborate action sequences, the John Wick franchise has become one of the most popular action movie series of all time. There’s hardly a fan of action out there that doesn’t know the name of Keannu Revees’ famous assassin. The franchise is getting bigger as the years go by, and while the main series seems to be over, spin-off movies are planned, and we have just received information that a solo spin-off focusing on Donnie Yen’s character Caine is in the works and will start filming relatively soon!
In case you don’t remember, Yen’s character Caine is a blind assassin who was introduced to the fans in Chapter 4 of the series and was described as an old ally of John’s in the movie.

John Wick is undeniably one of the most successful franchises by director Chad Stahelski, and a major milestone for Keanu Reeves as well who is so loved in the role that fans can’t imagine anyone else as the titular character besides him. However, even before the first movie’s launch, someone had brutally negative thoughts and predictions on how it would turn out to be.
John Wick.
Surprisingly enough, this someone was none other than the mastermind Stahelski himself, who even predicted that the film would be such a massive failure that it would go “straight to video.” But what’s even more stunning than the filmmaker’s own predictions on his blockbuster saga was the fact that Reeves was never supposed to lead the franchise the way he ended up doing!

The John Wick universe continues to grow, with Donnie Yen to get his own spin-off. The film will continue the adventures of his character, Caine.
Keanu Reeves and Chad Stahelski, star and director of the popular John Wick series, may be taking a well-earned break from the franchise, but that isn’t stopping Lionsgate from finding ways to keep the good ship Wick on its journey to box office dollars.
There’s the TV prequel spin-off, The Continental, which has already released, not to mention Ballerina, the recently-delayed spin-off movie that will feature Ana de Armas as an assassin who looks to have graduated from the same killing school that taught John Wick himself.
Gird yourself for more stories from the John Wick universe, though, as it’s been announced by Lionsgate (thanks Dark Horizons) that Donnie Yen’s Caine character will also be getting a spin-off film. It will...

There are no other details yet, but the spinoff will “continue Yen’s story arc following the events of ‘John Wick: Chapter 4,’ as Caine has been freed from his obligations to the High Table,” according to Lionsgate.
Robert Askins, who’s written for Netflix’s “The Umbrella Academy,” AMC’s “The Son” and received a 2015 Tony nomination for his play “Hand to God,” is writing the screenplay. Lionsgate will begin production on the untitled movie next year in Hong Kong.

A first look at The Prosecutor, directed by and starring Donnie Yen, has been revealed at the Cannes market.
Based on a true case in Hong Kong, the action crime thriller sees Yen plays a dedicated prosecutor who risks his life and career to set free a wrongfully charged man and bring the real culprit to justice.
Yen, who is the star of the Ip Man franchise and more recently appeared in John Wick: Chapter 4, is also producing with his long-time producer Raymond Wong. The film, previously known as Misjudgement, is scheduled for worldwide release this year.

Since it was first announced back in 2013, the nostalgia-fuelled martial arts epic set within the labyrinthine back alleys of Kowloon Walled City has nurtured a mythical status to rival the notorious neighbourhood itself. Development of the project dates back to the early 2000s, with such prestigious names as John Woo, Johnnie To, Chow Yun-fat and Donnie Yen rumoured to be attached at one point or other. Filming finally commenced in November 2021, at the height of the pandemic lockdown, with director Soi Cheang at the helm, and Louis Koo, Raymond Lam, Sammo Hung and Philip Ng headlining the cast for Koo’s production company One Cool Films. Opening under the unwieldy English title Twilight of the Warriors: Walled In, the 80s-set gangland throwdown opened...

Any action fan, or even dedicated viewer of Corridor Crew's "Stuntmen React" series, should know the name Scott Adkins. Long before Adkins went all out for his role as German gangster Killa Harkan in "John Wick: Chapter 4," the British stunt performer and actor made a name for himself working as a stuntman for prominent Hong Kong action directors in the early 2000s. He went on to appear in dozens of action movies, from starring opposite Jean-Claude Van Damme in four separate films to doubling for Ryan Reynolds' Weapon XI in "X-Men Origins: Wolverine." For his role as Gunnery Sergeant Barton Geddes in 2019's "Ip Man 4: The Finale," Adkins said star Donnie Yen — who also faced off against Keanu Reeves in "John Wick: Chapter 4" — requested him for the film by name.
Having remained somewhat of a B-movie action star for most of his career, Adkins is finally starting to get more mainstream recognition.

The cinematic journey of Hiroyuki Sanada and his contribution to the fusion of Western and Eastern storytelling have been nothing short of remarkable. Fresh off the heels of his presence in John Wick: Chapter 4, Sanada’s Shōgun success has been a cultural touchstone. But does this success guarantee his quick return to the producer’s chair?
Sanada is involved as a producer and cast member of the acclaimed FX limited series. With a career as dynamic as the Japanese actor’s, his keen sense of storytelling speaks volumes. Indeed, his dedication to cultural integrity and his case-by-case approach to production roles serve as a deliberate blueprint for his future endeavors in the film industry, as he enjoys shaping narratives.
Hiroyuki Sanada as Lord Yoshii Toranaga in Shōgun
But, despite his success with Shōgun, Sanada’s desire to create from scratch as a producer may not be realized in the near future.

Bill Kong is cautious, vastly experienced and has an impeccable reputation as a key gateway between Hollywood and China to maintain. He is someone far more likely to deadpan than gush.
So, to hear him getting into high gear with a pitch for his bucket list martial arts movie project “The Furious” immediately invites comparison with previous Kong-produced action pictures including Oscar-winner “Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon,” “Jet Li’s Fearless” or the Zhang Yimou-directed “Hero.”
“I’m going to do an action movie that rocks the world. And to prove that Hong Kong still has something to give the film industry. I want to show that Asian people can still make an action movie that is better than the rest of the world,” Kong tells Variety.
Significantly, “The Furious” is a project made by Hong Kong, rather than made in Hong Kong. Kong’s Edko Films is financing and producing.

Whereas his last project “Happy Times”, a blend of comedy and tragedy, garnered favorable reviews but to this day remains one of the director's smaller features, Zhang Yimou's next movie, the wuxia drama “Hero” marked a huge success for its director, both critically and commercially. Even today, “Hero” is one of the fan favorites among the many films by Zhang, and together with such features as “Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon” started a renaissance of the genre, to which the Chinese filmmaker has contributed many other stories, albeit with lesser success. In the 2002 film he tells the story of the founding of China's first dynasty, which resulted in the unification of the country after seven warring states had fought for many years to rule it entirely. Apart from being visually stunning, even by today's standards, “Hero” is a timeless story about the passions of men and how they can manipulate...

I’ve been a big Donnie Yen fan for years. This martial artist/actor has been a mainstay of Chinese action movies – comedic and dramatic – for decades. For Western audiences, he may be best known for his appearances in several films about China’s legendary real-life hero Ip Man. Besides Yen’s fighting skills, he invariably projects the calm integrity of a Gary Cooper. His latest high-profile role on our screens was the blind, yet super-lethal, and highly-principled assassin co-star in John Wick 4.
Donnie is now over 60. So, like Jackie Chan, his time as a credible action hero may be waning. Preparing for the next phase of his career is the only reason I can imagine for his producing and starring in this rather uninspired family drama, Polar Rescue (a...

Bill Skarsgård has slowly but surely established himself as one of the most versatile actors of this generation. With a number of quirky and unconventional roles under his belt, Skarsgård keeps pushing the envelope of his skills with each new character he plays on the screen.
The actor has been a part of several notable franchises in his career. Therefore, it was not surprising when John Wick came calling for him. He is not new to playing antagonists, in fact, he excels at playing morally dubious characters.
He did it again as Marquis Vincent de Gramont in the fourth installment of this Keanu Reeves-led series. It was a knock-out performance, but one aspect of his role faced a lot of flak from the public, so much so that it could have taken attention away from the film itself.

At some juncture, every action star must face their greatest challenge in their own mortality. As Donnie Yen enters his 60's, the inevitability of time means his action career on screen is now entering its twilight years. “Polar Express” therefore represents a slight change in direction. A role that focuses as much on his acting prowess as on his physical. With Well Go USA releasing this latest work, it's an opportunity to see how he fares.

Contrary to what children of the '90s might assume, "Monkey Man" is not a feature-length film about the "mystery wrapped in an enigma" that is the Hillwood vigilante Monkeyman from "Hey Arnold," as awesome as that sounds. It's actually something even cooler, believe it or not: an original starring vehicle for Dev Patel, who's only one of the most exciting actors currently doing it. Things had gone radio silent for several years on the news front surrounding the film, only for Universal to nonchalantly drop its trailer online near the end of January, sending the internet into a riotous frenzy at the sight of Patel going full John Wick on a seemingly never-ending parade of goons in Mumbai. (Not to mention by far the best use of a tuk-tuk in a movie this side of "Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny.")

"Give my boy back!" Well Go USA has set a VOD / DVD release date for this Chinese survival thriller. Polar Rescue is finally getting a US release this March after originally debuting in China back in late 2022. It also goes under the title Come Back Home, which is a bit more emotional and less direct than the bland "Polar Rescue" that it is now. After a young boy gets lost during a bitter snowstorm, his frantic parents (starring both Donnie Yen and Cecilia Han) seek help from the local police, who are soon faced with a desperate race against the clock as hours tick by with no sign of the child anywhere. Donnie Yen stars as the father, De, who decides to go out in this dangerous cold and snow his own to find him. The cast also includes Jia Bing as Qian Jun and Xu Tang as Xiao Jiang.
