Andy Somebody (2023)
If your are looking for a little light relief this is for you.
I had low expectations given the rating here.
Actually quite enjoyed it in a strange way.
Its light hearted.
Characters all did a good job.
Nothing really to dislike.
Also quit like the fact that its only 1 hour 25 mins long. So many fils are far too long these days and drag on and on
Not sure what else to add on this as I enjoyed film but probably wont watch again any time soon. 500 characters is too much to give a brief overview without spoilers.
Watch it if you want. Or not.
Will not shake the world either way.
Nice to see some fresh face actors that dont turn up every other film. Hopefully more like this.
The Man Who Fell to Earth (2022)
I liked that
This show definitely has promise.
Without giving anything away on plot.
Great acting by all and the added bonus of Bill Nye is going to make this interesting.
Looking forward to episode 2.
I have watched the show unlike some who have not and given it a poor rating.
Moonshot (2022)
i liked it
Much better than expectations.
Ok not oscar material but its nice gentle comedy.
Entertaining and light hearted.
Sometimes we all need these.
Probably give it a 2nd viewing in a month or two.
Ted Lasso: Carol of the Bells (2021)
Nice but....
Just found it odd seeing a Christmas episode when its 40 Celsius outside in middle of summer :-)
Stowaway (2021)
WTF
Did i just waste 2 hours on.
Love sci-fi
boring movie.
The Dig (2021)
Disappointing
I was so looking forward to this.
acting in great.
cinematography great.
but story is so slow and goes away from the central role of a huge find.
shame really
On the Rocks (2020)
Slow and not really interesting
Very slow plodding movie.
Ok for Sunday afternoon when there is nothing else to watch.
Better do some diy if you get chance
Shadow in the Cloud (2020)
Quirky
Quirky film, strange story
Is it sci-fi, fantasy or love story ?
Borat Subsequent Moviefilm: Delivery of Prodigious Bribe to American Regime for Make Benefit Once Glorious Nation of Kazakhstan (2020)
much better than first movie
I found the first one to much of a ring fest.
This one was actually quite funny.
creepy americans.
creepy politicians
Mulan (2020)
Enjoyed it
Really enjoyed watching film.
No blood and guts. Like the characters.
Story was good with good acting.
Best film seen in a few months and I watch a lot.
I will watch it again soon.
Dont be put off by the negative reviews.
Extraction (2020)
Just bad
Some action scenes.
No story
No plot
no talking a few grunts here or there.
Just plain bad film
Sorry Chris, I do like your other films
Sam (2017)
Quite good
Really quite enjoyed the film.
Lead actress was good and played part well.
Had us guessing until the end, which you need to watch
Another Life (2019)
Well that was bad
Visuals are ok, sound is great.
However story line is terrible.
Real time video link when in deep space for over a month at FTL !
As for the crew in-fighting beyond belief.
The the demoted 2nd in command who thinks a 10% risk of dying is worth the risk.
The "media personality" tagging along.
It just gets worse and worse.
35 minutes and I had enough.
Arizona (2018)
title say comedy thriller
There is no comedy.
not much of a thriller either.
cast are ok and acting ok.
but the story line is so bad.
at least it was only 80 minutes wasted (oil time 86 plus titles)
Rampage (2018)
terrible with a big T
Dont know where to start.
Cast are ok.
Naomi Harris is hot as usual..
Always like the Rock
But the story line just sucks.
The evil guys are just pathetic.
The good guys are not that great.
Bullets and bombs just bounce off the monsters.
got bored glad it ended when it did.
The Week Of (2018)
Toilet humour
If you like toilet humour then this is for you.
Unfortunately I do not, normally I quite like Adam sandler and film is somewhat in same vain as earlier works but this is no masterpiece. Chris rock I can take or leave but plays an even more annoying character.
Unless you are a fan of these actors then I would strongly suggest you don't spoil your week with this film.
Beyond Skyline (2017)
Disappointed
I was waiting for the sequel to the excellent film skyline.
Seems this film more or less forgot all about original film.
The whole of LA were trundling alone as though nothing had happened in past.
Then some bad ass aline comes along and starts doing its thing.
A set of disjointed characters then appear.
Lots of blood.
Alien has ass kicked by a child and railway worker.
Big bad alien dies.
the end.
Mechanic: Resurrection (2016)
oh no
I have liked the past films.
Jason looks more like desperate Dan these days.
Jessica Alba is always pleasing on the eye but the long body shots of here, really ! Michael Yeoh was nice to see again, not seen here since James Bond.
But the biscuit is really Tommy Lee Jones who is made to look like Ossy Osborne, give us a break.
The whole thing just was not convincing. It jumped from place to place. The bad guys were just not bad enough. Were there any good guys. ?
Its just too predictable.
Eddie the Eagle (2015)
just watched it
i have to say as movies goes its one of the best out there. inspirational. Funny true. So nice to watch a true movie as well. I do recall the time back in 88 when all this happened.
Been looking forward to seeing this one for so long.
I do recall an interview many years ago where Eddie said he wished Hugh Jackman would play him. Well not far off.
Great film
Look forward to seeing it again soon, sure its going to be on repeat viewing.
Won't be long now. Until watch it again.
Hope Springs (2003)
Love the film
You by now should have read the plot and this does review does not contain any spoilers.
It is a great film, has great acting.
Good story, lots of twists and turns in it, very funny.
Its a simple love tale, with a few surprises on the journey.
I take this off the shelf every few months to watch.
Same class as love actually, Notting hill, etc.
If you are looking for an action film, go elsewhere.
If you want a feel good film, this is for you.
When friends come to stay, I show them this film and they all enjoy it.
Don't be put off by some of the other reviews.
Gravity (2013)
Great visuals but a real let down.
I was looking forward to seeing this film. There is a lot of press going on about this at present and its had good reviews, however It was a huge letdown, though the visuals were stunning.
I will say up front that I like both Sandra Bullock and George Clooney as actors.
The opening sequence is very good with the shuttle whizzing through space with the earth behind.
A few minutes after this you see the astronaut played by George taking the jet pack for a spin around the shuttle without out a care in the world and the other the other tethered astronaut bouncing up and down on his leash like it was a bungee cord.
At this point I had a few alarm bells ringing in my head.
So it goes on like this.
The astronaut Sandra, inserting a circuit board which is not encased. Loosing a bolt. Not having tools tethered. The astronaut George chit chat chat-up rather than focusing on job.
When the debris hits the shuttle all of a sudden the debris has more mass than the shuttle and knocks it around like a toy.
The unprofessionalism showed by supposedly trained astronauts spoilt the film, let alone the lack of real following of physics.
It would also seem Nasa no longer have any ground radio transmitters or Russians or Chinese for that matter.
It just goes on and on with error after error.
No astronaut would remove their helmet before leaving capsule.
The final sequence I almost wished there was a shark in the water to eat astronaut Sandra or she would be shot as a spy.
I know films are entertainment and sometimes they take liberties with the facts but this film it was continuous one after the other. I was expecting some but it could have been so much better if they had some proper advise before they committed to film.
I love space films but they completely spoilt it for me with the story line and lack of understanding of physics and how well trained astronauts are.
Thankfully the film was only 90 minutes long.
Apollo 18 (2011)
I enjoyed it
I was nearly put off seeing it by some of the reviews here.
SO I thought twice about seeing it, however I like sci-fi so had to watch.
The plot is well covered in other reviews.
Yes the style is different but it is in keeping with the moon landing and pictures taken at the time. Its all filmed as though done through the hand-held moon cameras.
Some reviews said actors were wooden but that is the whole point, they are supposed to be normal people (well as normal as any astronauts ) can be.
The test for me is :-
Would I watch it again, yes
Passion Play (2010)
time stood still
Well what can one say about his "film"
I like Billy Murray and was the only good bit of acting in film. Megan fox has her place in some films. Ryhs Ifans is good actor but given a horrible script. Never really like Micky Rouke. Why does he wear nail varnish ?
The film leaps around with no explanation or credibility.
Its drawn out and I feel is if I need another drink or 2 to stay sane.
Yes I watched it from start to finish.
If you are bored and need an hour and half to kill this is for you.
Story line non existent, credibility non existent, acting .....
You get the gist.
No Country for Old Men (2007)
Boring !
what a boring film.
TLJ does not appear for a long time in film (he is a good actor but the lack of appearance in this film spoils it).
Who are we to feel sorry for the bad guy or the idiot that steals the money & then goes back to the scene of the crime, why does he do that.?
Why when he has a $1M or more does he feel he needs to stick around ?
Everyone dies almost.
Sorry but i found it boring & without any real substance.
TLJ plays a bored old cop, who maybe good but we don't find out.
The bad guy just kills everyone.
Even the mob boss gets bumped off by the bad guy, does he not have any protection ?
As for the mumbling or ramblings at the end, i was glad it finished then, almost switched it off.
The Lake House (2006)
very strange
Sorry but it all does not stack up.
Time travel but then effecting things in past from the future. Call me cynical but once you have changed things they change.
Its like the old culumdrum if I kill my mother before I was born I will not exist, then how can in the future you go back and kill your mother ???
So in the end can you effect your past by changing things in the future ?
To bizarre.
The house was nice but we never did see him or take a shower with an all glass house.
