Halloween (I) (2018)

A Big Thumbs Down!
24 October 2018
Warning: Spoilers
What a let down of a movie! I loved Halloween 1, 2 & even Season of the Witch. I personally think Halloween 2 is better than Halloween 2018. This movie was just a brutal slasher film with a bad plot. I think around 15-17 people bite the dust in this film, in very gory ways. What made Halloween 1 & 2 great is how dark the lighting was, with shadows everywhere and Myers looming out of sight waiting to attack his victoms. In Halloween 2018 the camera just follows him from house to house as he brutally kills people. What really irked me is when he killed one woman who had a baby in it's crib in the next room, which I found very tacky and offensive. and un-called for by the people who made this film. This film was very well lite......no dark, shadowy errie scenes like the original. It was like we almost always knew where Myers was at all times. I was also looking forward to the credits, which I found to be a let down as well. Taking the original pumpkin form Halloween 1978, it starts out completely rotted, but grows back to it's original form as the credits roll. Judy Greer's character and her husbands were annoying as were most of the characters in this movie. They never really grew on me. I liked the granddaughter and Jami Lee did a decent job, but laughed because they tried to make her character like Linda Hamilton's in T-2. You would think she would have moved far away from Haddonfield and gone under a new name (kind of like H20.) Why would anyone remain in a town like that after what she went through? A constant reminder and the fact that Myers was not that far away in the mental institution. To me, this movie does not exist in the "real" Halloween timeline. For me, Myers died when Dr. Loomis set him on fire and he died inside the hospital. End of movie and story line!

Not even Gal Gadot can save this garbage
30 July 2018
Warning: Spoilers
I almost walked out of the movie theatre while watching this trash. Talk about a lame plot and horrible special effects. The bad guy is more annoying than anything. When this movie comes onto tv, I won't watch one second of it. It's terrible, DVC has been an epic failure in the Super Heroes movie world.

Disney has ruined Star Wars
30 June 2018
Warning: Spoilers
The jokes in this movie were endless and not funny. I felt like this movie was trying to be a comedy of sorts. The Last Jedi was a combination of episode 4, 5 & 6. They even rehash the same old lines from 4,5 & 6 in this movie. The bad guys aren't even really scary like Vader and the Emperor were in the original Star Wars films. I am so glad I didn't waste my money seeing this in the theatre, but rented it instead and saved money.

Wonder Woman (2017)

I'd rather watch re-runs of Lynda Carters Wonder Woman
22 September 2017
So I rented this movie, and was thankful that I didn't go see it in the theatre! The last 1/2 hour of the movie I kept looking at the clock wondering when this crap movie would end. Gal Gadot is cute and attractive, but she can't save this movie. It is so over blown with CGI that it's just terrible! Chris Pine, every time I see him I see & hear William Shatner. At one point in the movie they had a close up for him and I was like..."It's Michel Myers from Halloween!" The whole movie is just stupid.....bad acting, bad WW1 stages, bad costumes, really bad effects. I am so tired of the entire super hero movies thing. Hollywood has tanked!!! How did this awful movie get such a high rating, what a joke!

Big Thumbs Down
9 May 2017
This movie has already been made, it's called Dances With Wolves. Think about the two movies and you will know what I am talking about. It's also way to computer generated for me, it looks fake and stupid. It reminds me of Star Wars 1-3. The Cameron magic failed in this lame movie. There was really nothing about this movie that I liked except that Sigourney Weaver was in it.

Epic Cult Classic
2 May 2017
Everything about this movie is beyond creepy, but that's what makes it great! The story, the music and great acting by a bunch of non famous actors. I saw this on MTV Halloween night back in the early 80's, I was a young teen then. I personally think this is the greatest zombie movie of all time. I have this now on DVD, it's great because it has the black & white and colored version to choose from. This is a movie that I watch about once a year.

The Founder (2016)

I may never eat at McDonald's again
29 April 2017
After seeing what a low life of a person Michael Keaton portrayed as the person who (he didn't start McDonald's) but stole the two McDonald's brothers and their burger business name and exploited it for his own gain (kind of like that loser who started Face Book.) It is interesting to see how McDonalds grew into the dynasty that it is today. The Founder of McDonalds screws over the McDonald brothers, steals another man's wife & he divorces his own wife in the process. To top it off, he makes a huge deal in the end to take over with the McDonalds brothers by handshake, which the Founder never holds up to and ends the McDonalds brothers careers and he takes over the business name for good. The guy was a snake in the grass. Best part at the end of the film they show some old video that is an interview with the original Founder. The guy looks and sounds like a total creep of a person, like a used car salesman. Now, if you will excuse me, I'm going to Wendy's to get a bite to eat:)

I'm embarrassed for the people who produced and acted in this movie
29 April 2017
I just rented this on Blu ray and can't stop thinking how bad this movie really is. I rented because of all the bad reviews for those who saw it in the theatre (thanks for the warning!) Some of the worst writing and maybe the worst acting I have ever seen. How does Vivia Fox's character go from being a stripper to a medical doctor? When Judd Hersh's character is close to being killed off, his acting was atrocious, it was laughable. This movie is just a re-hash of the original movie (which was a great, fun popcorn movie.) This movie is just flat out Hollywood garbage. In the past 5-7 years Hollywood has really tanked. Dean Devlin and Roland Emmrich should be ashamed of themselves for producing such a terrible movie!

One of Carpenter's Best!
2 April 2017
I was in JR. High when I saw this on HBO back in the 1980's on a late Saturday night, and I loved every second of it. I was pretty young when John Carpenter and Debra Hill were cranking out their great movies, the first one I saw in the movie theater was Christine. But now with blu Ray I have a great collection of their movies, including the 2 disc collectors edition of Escape From New York form Shout Factory. It's amazing that this movie does not look outdated and has an incredible cast. Kurt Russell was perfect for Snake Plisken. I find it funny that Donald Pleasance is British and plays the U.S. President in this movie, but he was such an incredible actor. Isaac Hayes was excellent as well by playing the bad guy The Duke. I wish this movie would be re-released into the movie theatres so I could see it on the big screen. But, every time I watch a John Carpenter movie like Escape From New York, it takes me back to another time and place in my life. I think that's why I love his movies still today.

An Awesome Cult Classic!
11 February 2017
John Carpenter is one of my all time favorite Directors. I grew up watching his movies, but missed this one until I saw it on TV when I was in my early 30's. Everything about this movie is awesome! Surprising is Roddy Piper was really good for a guy who was a former pro wrestler. Davied Keith was excellent as well, he is such an underrated actor. The two played the "buddy" duo very well. Piper and Keith's 5 minute fight scene is epic alone. I also love the soundtrack, it's very edgy. I bought this movie on Blu ray from Shout Factory and it is an excellent transfer both video and audio. I highly recommend it for your home theater library.

Please just let the Rocky series end once and for all!!
11 February 2017
I just rented this and am so glad that I didn't waste more money by going to the theater to watch it. It's just the same old, same old Rocky story. The Rocky stories have been beaten to death. The Adonis Creed character, I just couldn't come to like the guy. He came off as a whiney cry baby. Kind of like the angry black guy who thinks he deserves respect. I actually wanted him to lose in the boxing match at the end of the movie because he annoyed the crap out of me. He goes from scene to scene with an angry look on his face and chip on his shoulder. As for Stallone, he did a good job, but he should since he's been playing this character for 40 years now!! Looking back on all the Rocky movies, the only one I truly love and like to watch every now and again is Rocky 1.

Great Movie!
11 February 2017
I was only 11 years old at the time when this movie hit the theatres. A friend of mine and his dad invited me to go see The Electric Horseman. I knew of Robert Redford, but this was the first movie of his that I had seen in a theatre. I really enjoyed it, and I thought how cool Redford was as a modern day cowboy. I have never been a fan of Jane Fonda, but she is a very actress and she did a fine job in this movie. I thought the addition of Willie Nelson and his music really made this a great film. I read once that Redford and Nelson sat next to each other on an airplane flight and Redford asked Willie if he wanted to be in the movie. I also really love the soundtrack and the scenery is incredible. I wish that this movie would come out on Blu ray soon so I can buy it. If you haven't seen it, I highly recommend that you rent it.

Entertaining but Stupid
7 January 2017
I was going to see this in the movie theater until I saw the preview and they used rap music as the back drop. I was totally turned off by that. Who seriously uses rap music for a western movie preview?!?! So I rented it, and was glad I only spent a few bucks instead of about $15 at the movies. Like my title say...."Entertaining but Stupid." It's like the movie Director try's to make it so edgy and hip hop for a movie set in the 1800's. It just doesn't work, and the acting kind of sucked.

Of course in today's movie world you have to have minorities in a film. Back in the "real" wild west it was about 90% whites, so of course they have to have a black guy as the leader, an Asian and native American in the 7's little gang. The bad guys also have an Indian and guess what? The two Indians have a knife throw down at the end(guess who wins?) Not much substance or character development in this film and zero love romance. If you don't want to use your brain and just see people in a wild west gun/knife fight, then you will like this lame movie.

Hollywood has really become bad. It's either super hero movies or bad remakes. The last really good western made is Tombstone with Kurt Russell.

Blu ray version is now available
17 December 2016
I just got this movie on Blu ray from Blu ray.com/amazon and it looks fantastic! For a low budget movie in 1970, the transfer is amazing, crystal clear and the audio is great. It's funny because Redford wears sun glasses in about 60% of the film and you can see the reflection of the movie lights and even film crew in a number of scenes. You'd think they would have noticed this when filming. The movie isn't the greatest, but it is a cult classic. It's weird seeing Redford playing such a jerk of a character. He was actually really good at it in this movie. I found it interesting that Redford and Michael Pollard couldn't stand each other while filming this movie. I wonder what caused it?

One of the worst holiday movies ever made!
27 November 2016
I was actually nice and gave it a 2 star rating. I like Jamie Lee Curtis, but her acting in this film was flat out awful! I can't believe the director of this film didn't fire her while filming.

It's such a stupid plot, two married couple decide to skip Christmas one year and go somewhere tropical. So the entire neighborhood flips out and does everything to stop them because the Kranks won't decorate their home with holiday lights and this massive sized snowman that everyone puts on their roof. I cringe every time I see it on TV! It also has a bizarre mix of cast members. No chemistry and bad acting all around. Tim Allen didn't even seem like he was into his character.

Halloween II (1981)
10/10
Halloween II is a decent flick & looks great on Blu ray!
27 October 2015
I personally like Halloween 3 more than Halloween 2. This movie doesn't come close to being nearly as good as Halloween 1978. I do like the synthesiser music though. Halloween 2 is still a fun movie to watch every October. I now own Shout Factories Blu ray version of it, and it is excellent. It also has some great bonus features with it. They catch up with the director and a handful of the cast members, kind of weird as to how old they look now. If Halloween 2 was ever re-released in the theaters, I would go see it to see what it looks like on the big screen. I was too young to see it back in 1981. John Carpenter didn't want to have Halloween 2 made, but I am glad they did.

Halloween 3 is a Good Movie
14 June 2015
Halloween 3 got a bad rap when it hit the theaters back in the 80's. That's because everyone (including myself)wanted to see Michael Myers again. Halloween 3 is a totally different movie, and now that I look back on it, it's actually pretty good. The only thing Idon't like about it is when the chips on the masks set off and kill people, the bugs that come out of peoples heads is a bit gross. They should have just had them be laser like and put a hole in your head minus the snakes, spiders and other bugs. The music is really good, it has very good acting as well. I own this on Blu ray and am glad to have it in my video collection. It's a fun movie to watch every October.

Not Very Good or Funny
13 June 2015
I really enjoyed the first Night at the Museum, the second wasn't bad, but this one was not good. I rented this on Blu ray and found myself fast forwarding at different times. It's just not very funny, kind of corny with a weak plot. It does feature many cameos, but it's not enough to save this movie. I felt like this movie was geared more to children under the age of 12 years old. Ben Stiller just seemed like he was going through the motions, almost like he didn't really want to be involved with this movie. I really hope they don't make another, I personally won't spend a penny on seeing it. I feel sorry for those who may have spent $10 or over to see this in the theater.

Incredible Film!
8 June 2015
I saw Halloween when I was 12 years old when it first aired on NBC in the early 80's. When it got to the scene where Michael Myers is standing in Laurie's back yard, I had to stop watching. I was beyond freaked out! Lucky for me, NBC aired it again the following year on Halloween night. I watched it from start to finish with my dad who is not a horror fan at all. After it ended I was blown away and my dad said that he thought that it was pretty good.

It has a great plot, excellent acting, great mood lighting, the music is top notch,, the Halloween mask is beyond creepy! It's so lifeless that it gives you chills when looking at it. To this day I still haven't seen a scary movie as good as Halloween. I bought the 2015 Blu ray version of John Carpenter's Halloween, and it is excellent!

Pure Garbage!
8 June 2015
Don't waste your time or money watching this trash. I have never been a big fan of Mark Wahlberg, and this movie only makes me not want to watch any of his up-coming films. I did like the Flash Gordon references. But other than that, it seems like every joke is just stupid & disgusting. I can't believe that a sequel has been made. I remember watching this and all I could think was..."when is this awful movie going to end?" I actually hit the fast forward button just so I could end the misery that this movie put me in. I felt like I was watching a bad Adam Sandberg movie. I'm jus glad that I didn't waste $15 dollars on this movie at the theatre. I may have walked out if I had gone to the theatre to see Ted.
