One of the coolest young adult film adaptations ever made and one of my best movies ever of 2015
9 October 2015
Warning: Spoilers
I am here to talk about The Maze Runner 2: The Scorch Trials. It is a 2015 film directed by Wes Ball once again and it is based on the book of the same name by James Dashner.

Now, the plot: Thomas and his fellow Gladers face their greatest challenge yet: searching for clues about the mysterious and powerful organization known as W.C.K.D. Their journey takes them to the Scorch, a desolate landscape filled with unimaginable obstacles. Teaming up with resistance fighters, the Gladers take on WCKD's vastly superior forces and uncover its shocking plans for them all.

Now what I thought of The Scorch Trials: I freaking loved this movie. I think that out of all of the movies based on a young adult novel that has came out, The Maze Runner 2: Scorch Trials is one of my favorites.

Script and direction: I thought that this movie was very well-written and very awesomely executed. Wes Ball once again took on this task of make a really great sequel to the original. The first film I liked it, but there were problems that I had to which even one can't defend, but this film, not perfect, but it is a lot of fun.

Action: I thought the action was very well-handled and trust me, there is a lot of action in this film. My favorite action sequence is when they escape WCKD Headquarters and the one character says to Thomas, "Thomas, the maze is one thing, but you kids wouldn't last one day out in the Scorch." Let me talk about the Scorch. Man, this is freaking scary. The Scorch is a desolate landscape filled with unimaginable obstacles as I have said before and the way it is presented is freaking awesome.

Pacing and Music: The film's pace can be slow at times, but I don't mind the slow pace. The film is 2 hours and 11 minutes long but I enjoy it. The score by John Paesano once again is freaking epic and amazingly well-done.

Acting: The acting in this film is really well-acted. Dylan O'Brien as Thomas was good in the first film and he is even better in this film. Kaya Scodelario as Teresa did a great job too, but I don't like what happens to her. There is a moment where they kiss in the film and I'll talk more about in detail soon, but I think she did a fantastic job. Thomas Brodie-Sangster as Newt was awesome and Rosa Salazar is very amazing as Brenda. I have to give credit to the casting directors they did a great job.

Overall: This was a really good movie. Again, I will say the movie is not perfect, but I don't think it deserves some of the bullcrap and slack that people has given this film. I think it's an awesome film with a lot of great ideas in it. It's not horrible either, but the ending makes me go like, "Yes! I so can't freaking wait for the next Maze Runner movie!", which comes out in 2017 and is titled The Death Cure.

Hopefully, this series will end on a high note in 2017 when the third film is released but for now, my rating is a 10 out of 10 stars!

An excellent movie adaptation of a very good book .
9 October 2015
The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo is a 2011 Swedish-American mystery thriller film based on the novel of the same name by Stieg Larsson. This film adaptation was directed by David Fincher and written by Steven Zaillian. Starring Daniel Craig and Rooney Mara.

Mikael Blomkvist is a financial journalist who has been convicted of libel after writing and publishing an article about billionaire financier Hans-Erik Wennerström, that was proved in court to have faulty evidence. After Blomkvist resigns from his position at Millennium Magazine, he is approached by Henrik Vanger for his assistance. Vanger asks him to officially write his memoirs, but to unofficially investigate the dissaperance of his niece, Harriet Vanger, that occurred over 40 years ago. Salander is a ward of the state due to a declaration of incompetence. As Blomkvist begins to investigate the massive Vanger family he realizes he has need for assistance, thus prompting Henrik Vanger to hire Salandar. As the two investigate deeper and deeper into the history of the Vanger family they discover secrets about more than they ever expected.

I liked this movie. The direction by David Fincher was very executed, there were times where I thought that the movie was a little slow or boring but it is David Fincher directing this. The script sticks a little more closer to the original source material that was written by the author Steig Larsson, but the screenplay is written by Steve Zaillian.

The musical score is composed by Trent Renzor and Atticus Ross, who won an Oscar for the 2010 film, "The Social Network", also starred Mara and directed by David Fincher, who also directed another one of my crime thriller favorites, "Seven", starring Brad Pitt and Morgan Freeman and the opening title sequence just blew me away, I could not believe that the title sequence alone told me what kind of film this was going to be and looking at the trailer itself, I remembered what kind of film this was.

The acting is superb. Daniel Craig plays Mikael Blomkvist and he does a good job with the role, but he feels like he's acting like James Bond in a few scenes. Stellan Skarsgaard and Yorick van Wagnengian as the antagonists of the two main characters are just creepy. Robin Wright Penn was really good as Erika Berger. I liked the rest of the cast too, especially Joely Richardson and Christopher Plummer.

Now, let me talk about Rooney Mara, who plays the girl with the dragon tattoo herself, Lisbeth Salander. I like Rooney Mara and her sister Kate as actresses and I have not seen Rooney Mara in "The Social Network", but I will say that she was kind of bad in the Freddy Krueger remake as Nancy, but I will defend her and say that she tried. Mara, as Lisbeth, is really good and she's better than Noomi Rapace, who played Lisbeth in the original trilogy, but Rooney Mara, she poured everything into this role, from getting piercings, getting the tattoos put on her, and even kissing James Bond himself, Daniel Craig. She deserved to win that Oscar and I am so upset that she didn't get it.

I would definitely be interested in seeing the other two novels be directed by Fincher and starred Rooney Mara and Daniel Craig as the two main characters, but I still have to read the other two books in the series.

Overall, I'm giving The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo a perfect score of 10 out of 10, it does have some things I hated, but I still think this was a really good interesting and entertaining film. This is the definition of an excellent movie adaptation of a very good book directed by one of the greatest directors of all time, David Fincher with an awesome screenplay, musical score and superb acting from everyone including the two powerhouse performances from Daniel Craig and Rooney Mara.

A little bit flawed, but it is a great start to a film franchise and it is also a great movie overall. An absolute smash hit!
18 May 2015
HARRY POTTER AND THE PHILOSOPHER'S STONE (released in some territories with the alternative subtitle THE SORCERER'S STONE) is the first film in the HARRY POTTER film series and it is based on the novel of the same name.

The story follows Harry Potter's first year at Hogwarts as he discovers that he is a famous wizard and begins his magical education.

It is a really good film and this was the film that started a beloved franchise.

The story, you already know, having read the books and seen the films it follows Harry Potter at Hogwarts and the story is really great.

This film is completely flawless.

The action is amazing and not crazy. The humor in this film is just really cool and I don't think I could not crack up with any kind of joke in this film.

The acting is superb. The entire cast is amazing, with Daniel Radcliffe, Rupert Grint, Tom Felton, Bonnie Wright and Emma Watson are really amazing in this film and they do good. The cast is not Oscar-worthy, but I can still get a kick out of the performances.

The visual effects in this film are impressive. The sound design and creature design looks amazing and I thought this movie should have won an Oscar. The music is really great and just cool as hell. John Williams did an amazing job and I like his style of music, especially the Superman, Indiana Jones, E.T., Jaws, Jurassic Park, Harry Potter and most of all, the Star Wars musical themes.

And to this day, ET and Jurassic Park remains as my favorite Steven Spielberg films of all time because they are both classic. The visuals and the iconic shot of Elliot and ET riding their bicycle up in the air is amazing and fantastic to see. It still blows me away, what movie directed by Steven Spielberg does not blow you away. The iconic theme in Jurassic Park and the dinosaurs in that film look impressive and that film is what lead George Lucas to do the STAR WARS prequel trilogy.

Overall, HARRY POTTER and the SORCERER'S STONE is a little bit flawed, but it is a great start to a film franchise and it is also a great movie of a generation.

10/10 - an ABSOLUTE SMASH HIT!

Brilliant conclusion to the series!
18 May 2015
Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows - Part 2 is the final and eighth chapter of the worldwide phenomenon of the HARRY POTTER film series.

With a lot of big special effects, acting, story, direction, an impressive musical score, battles and an emotional ending, this film does not disappoint at all. The film does feel very light-hearted, even though it is dark in a few areas throughout.

The plot follows the last half of the book and the book was translated well for this film and credit is given to Steve Kloves. The direction is amazing and David Yates also gets a lot of credit and I thought this film should have won an Academy Award for Best Picture, but did not.

The music by Alexandre Desplat is really amazing and it does have themes from the other films, composed by John Williams and Nicholas Hooper and it is a spectacular musical score. The special effects are incredible and amazing this time around and the production design is really cool.

The special effects and battle sequences are just a joy to watch and no wonder that this film was released in IMAX 3D and I thought it was enjoyable to see the final fight between Voldemort and Harry. I think the main thing that was in the trailer that should have been kept in is when Voldemort chokes Harry and asks him, "Why do you live?" and Harry responds, "Because I have something worth living for?".

The ending is set 19 years later and it is just sad as the ending to THE LORD OF THE RINGS: THE RETURN OF THE KING, which was also good to. It is just fantastic and I hope the new Harry Potter films are better and amazing.

Overall, this film is a great conclusion to the eight film franchise. 10/10.

Funny and darker

"Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince" is the sixth film in the franchise and begins the end of a series of epic films in a Harry Potter movie franchise.

This film mixes the humor and the action to create a fantastic pat of the series and also manages to be fun and spectacular. The direction by David Yates is amazing and fantastic and I could not have seen a better film. The script is written by Steve Kloves after not returning to write "Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix", the fifth entry in the Potter series.

The writer and director did a very good job in making a cool sixth Harry Potter film in the series. The music is by Nicholas Hooper and he does good with the entire musical score and this movie appears on my top 5 Harry Potter films and I think that this film successfully does wonders.

The acting and visuals are amazing this time around. Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson, Rupert Grint and Bonnie Wright are all amazing and spectacular and the returning and new cast members and they are all spectacular in the roles that they are in.

The action sequences and visual effects are just cool and amazing, the ending and Dumbledore's death could have been handled better, but I think it is okay and I was some more stuff was put in the movie, but at 153 minutes long (2 hours and 53 minutes).

Overall, HARRY POTTER and the HALF-BLOOD PRINCE is a worthy sixth entry to the franchise and I have no problem watching it again. 10/10

The coolest one in the series!
18 May 2015
Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix is the fifth installment in the HP series and this film may be a little bit action-packed, but it works for me.

The story is dark and fun at the same time, but I have read the book and I know the plot and fans should know the plot of this movie and it is really amazing to see translated into a movie. David Yates is amazing and fantastic at his directing skills for this movie and I think it is not bad.

The film got positive critical reviews, but with a few negative reviews about certain elements, but I don't find anything negative or bad about this film.

Daniel Radcliffe, Rupert Grint and Emma Watson all return in their roles and they do a better job in their performances. The new and old cast are in this film and they all do amazingly well-done and their performances are good and amazing. Helena Bonham Carter scared me a little bit as Bellatrix Lestrange, but I got over it, every time I watch this film.

It's hard to take the book and adapt it into the shortest Harry Potter film and Ralph Fieness as Lord Voldemort is creepy as hell and I think it's not bad.

The exciting things are the acting, music, action and visual effects and they did a great job presenting all of this to us on screen.

Overall, if you have not seen this Harry Potter film, see this film. 7/10.

The fourth is great!
18 May 2015
HARRY POTTER AND THE GOBLET OF FIRE is the fourth installment in the HARRY POTTER film series and it is directed by Mike Newell.

This film follows Harry Potter's fourth year at Hogwarts as he is chosen by the Goblet of Fire to complete in the Tri-Wizard Tournament and yes, it is the sequel to Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban and the next film followed by this is Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix.

The screenplay is written by Steve Kloves and this film stays true to the book and it is also very scary as heck as certain things they takened from the book and it looks like very amazing stuff.

The acting is amazing. Ralph Fiennes plays Lord Voldemort and he is good in the screen time that he has and it is really amazing. Miranda Richardson is in this movie and she does good as the journalist for THE DAILY PROPHET.

Robert Pattinson, from TWILIGHT fame, was in this movie and the fifth Harry Potter film as Cedric Diggory and he is amazing in the part. The returning and new cast members are amazing and they are fantastic. It is good to see the returning three actors who play Ron, Hermione in this film.

Daniel Radcliffe is amazing in this film and fantastic. The music is by Patrick Doyle and this movie is a great film overall. 10/10.

The best of the Harry Potter movies!
18 May 2015
HARRY POTTER AND THE PRISONER OF AZKABAN is the third installment of the HARRY POTTER film series and it is directed by Alfonso Cuaron.

HARRY POTTER AND THE PRISONER OF AZKABAN is considered by critics and fans to be the best installment of the franchise. It is also the best-reviewed film of the series.

The story follows Harry Potter's third year at Hogwarts as he is informed that a prisoner named Sirius Black has escaped from Azkaban and wants to murder him.

The story definitely follows the book nicely, with a few new things added to it. Since Chris Columbus, director of both "Sorcerer's Stone" and "Chamber of Secrets" decided he would not direct this film, Alfonso Cuaron was chosen as director for the third film.

The musical score is composed by John Williams for the last time and this was the last HP film to be rated PG. The script is solid and Steve Kloves did a really great job creating an amazing movie. The direction is very amazing and fantastic and Alfonso Cuaron knows how to make a very entertaining movie.

Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson, Bonnie Wright, Rupert Grint and Tom Felton all shine out in this film. The rest of the original cast is amazing and they have good performances in this film. Gary Oldman plays Sirius Black and he did a good job. The rest of the new actors are really good in this film.

Since Richard Harris died after the second film was released, a new actor was chosen for the part and Michael Gambon would play the part.

The visuals and production values are amazing and spectacular. The costumes in the film are wonderful. The pacing is still slow, but it is amazing as heck. The make-up is really interesting and this film goes down as for having the best make-up in a film in my book.

The rest of the production designs are very amazing. Overall, I like HARRY POTTER AND THE PRISONER OF AZKABAN and this is the film that transformed this franchise from being a book adaptation franchise into a film franchise and PRISONER OF AZKABAN is a true example of a fantasy movie filmmaking.

Chamber of Secrets is an improvement over Sorcerer's Stone
18 May 2015
HARRY POTTER AND THE CHAMBER OF SECRETS is the second film in the HARRY POTTER film series.

The story follows Harry Potter's second year at Hogwarts as the Heir of Salazar Slytherin opens the Chamber of Secrets, unleashing an evil monster that petrifies the school's pupils.

How many sequels can be considered better than the original film? There are many, are they? And guess what? HARRY POTTER and the CHAMBER OF SECRETS has made it on to that list.

The story follows the book nicely, but with a few things taken out of the movie for reasons. The film is directed by Chris Columbus, which this film would be his second and final time directing a Harry Potter film as he would produce "Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban", released in 2004.

The music by John Williams is amazingly well-done and he is a great composer. He was also composing CATCH ME IF YOU CAN, MINORITY REPORT and STAR WARS EPISODE II: ATTACK OF THE CLONES at the time, so he used themes from the first film.

The visual effects and production values are flawless. The acting is once again amazing. Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson, Bonnie Wright and Rupert Grint and Tom Felton all return from the previous film. The rest of the cast returns as well and this would be Richard Harris' final film appearance as he died after the film's release.

The action is amazing. The dialogue is amazing and spectacular and Steve Kloves did a great job writing this into a suitable film.

Overall, HARRY POTTER AND THE CHAMBER OF SECRETS is good and better than SORCERER'S STONE and more. This film is just amazingly well-done and Warner Bros. managed to create a sequel to the first Harry Potter and that is one hell of an accomplishment for 2002.

Another long-awaited crossover film!
18 May 2015
ALIEN VS. PREDATOR was a long awaited feature film crossover for me, this was after 2003's "Freddy vs. Jason", which I previously reviewed.

The film is set in the year 2004 and it follows a group of archaeologists assembled by billionaire Charles Bishop Weyland for an expedition near the Antarctic to investigate a mysterious heat signal.

Weyland hopes to claim the find for himself and his group discovers a pyramid below the surface of a whaling station.

Hieroglyphs and sculptures reveal that the pyramid is a hunting ground for Predators who kill Aliens as a rite of passage. The humans are caught in the middle of a battle between the two species and attempt to prevent the Aliens from reaching the surface.

The story is amazing and the direction is okay. The cinematography has that gory atmosphere and creepy feel in the second and third act, but it has that snowy Christmas-like atmosphere in the first act of the film. The problem that had film critics hammer this film was the PG-13 rating, to be honest, I don't mind this film having that rating because I understand what Paul W.S. Anderson was going for.

Other problems was the dialogue. Sure, the dialogue feels out of place, but I like the script written for the film. The other things were cardboard characters, the fast-paced editing during action sequences and lighting.

The lighting is a distraction, but that does not stop me from watching this movie. THE FILM IS RATED PG-13! GET OVER IT, PEOPLE AND CRITICS. The fast-paced editing during the fights are awesome for this film and I don't mind this at all. The production designs and special effects are amazing and I could not have seen better.

The characters are not cardboards, they're characters that I can relate to while watching the film. The acting is okay and the performances are amazing. Alien vs. Predator is a film that really needs to be remembered better than it has been. Sure, there are some major flaws, but I can get over that. 6.5/10.

Hannibal (2001)
9/10
Dark, strong, beautiful, violent and extremely scary
18 May 2015
The sequel to the critically acclaimed 1991 Academy-Award winning thriller "The Silence of the Lambs" is dark, strong and extremely scary and beautiful of our sophisticated killer and anti-hero: Dr. Hannibal Lector.

The story brings us to Florence, where the beautiful city is perfect and in contrast with the admirable and evil Dr. Lector. It is the evil within the beauty in this film.

The acting is stunning. Oscar-winner Anthony Hopkins returns to play Dr. Hannibal Lecter for a second time and has a lot of screen time in this film. Oscar-nominee Julianne Moore fills the shoes of Clarice Starling from Jodie Foster, who won an Oscar for the part in "The Silence of the Lambs".

Gary Oldman plays Mason Verger and he looks scary as HELL in this movie considering the make-up that he had to wear and he portrays the character more evilly than Hannibal in this film and he dies of a horrible death.

The rest of the cast is out there and they make a lot more effort to put on their good performances. The music by Hans Zimmer and it is frightening, disturbing, violent and emotionally beautiful and I love his score for The Ring, Inception and THE DARK KNIGHT Trilogy and his other musical scores as well.

The film is directed by Ridley Scott and his style is very amazing and spectacular as hell. The script is written by David Mamet & Steve Zallilian and the dialogue in this film is just simply wonderful and I have not read the books by Thomas Harris, but the movie is more scarier.

Overall, "Hannibal" is a successful sequel to "The Silence of the Lambs" and I have no problems with the violence and disturbing images in the film.

This film is not for people who are sensitive about things in a movie including blood, violence and romance.

Red Dragon (2002)
8/10
Better than "Manhunter"
18 May 2015
RED DRAGON is the third film in the Hannibal Lector trilogy and it is really amazing to see on screen.

The plot you already know, by me explaining it in MANHUNTER, so I won't explain it. The music in the film was really amazing and I thought it was just cool to hear and Danny Elfman is a great composer and I like his theme music for Batman, Spider-Man, Spider-Man 2, Spider-Man 3, Hulk (2003), Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and also, the theme music for this movie.

The visual effects are amazing and I could have not been happier. The costume designs and production designs are just amazingly well done. The tone of the movie is dark and serious, but also a little humorous in this film and I think this was a really cool film.

The acting is amazing in this film. Anthony Hopkins plays Hannibal Lecter for the last time in this film and he is just incredible. Edward Norton plays Will Graham and he did a great job. Ralph Fieness from Harry Potter fame plays the role of Francis Dolarhyde, a.k.a. "The Tooth Fairy" and he is just over-creepy in the role and he does a great job with what he has.

Emily Watson is amazing as Reba McClane and performs the role perfectly. Mary Louise Parker and Tyler Patrick Jones plays Molly and Josh Graham and they both do a very great job and I could not have think of better actors playing these parts. Harvey Keitel plays the role of the detective who helps Graham and he is amazing. The late Phillip Seymour Hoffman plays the role of Freddy Lounds and he does good in the screen time he has.

Overall, with RED DRAGON is dark, brilliant, seductive, intense and very amazing and is a great conclusion to the Hannibal Lector trilogy and fans and people should be very pleased with this remake / re-imagining because it is better than MANHUNTER.

Not the best young adult film adaptation, but could have been worse.
18 May 2015
I had to say, my expectations for THE MAZE RUNNER were very low before the film's release. I read the book and I did not know how the movie was going to do at the box office or with the fans of the book and critics.

The first film in the series is based on a series of books by James Dashner and it is an entertaining film, but it's not flawless.

The story follows Thomas, a boy who wakes up in a moving elevator going up called The Box. Once he arrives, he discovers a grassy area called The Glade and the people that live there called Gladers. Not being able to remember anything, Thomas discovers an opening in the wall near the glade and is warned not to enter it as it leads to a massive maze.

After Thomas learns about the monsters that wander the maze at night, he realizes that the maze may hold the key to getting out. When a young girl, Teresa arrives in the box, Thomas's memory starts to come back and he realizes what is really going on and sets out to try and find a way out.

I wasn't totally against the movie, I was very interested to see how this movie would turn out, so my sister went out one night and bought a couple of movies from RedBox and she bought this movie. My sisters, Ricardo and my mother Tiffany actually saw this film. I literally did not see this movie until long after I read the book and until it came out on DVD.

This movie is OK. But it is not without it's flaws. This is a throwback to teenage thriller movies as it features an entire young cast of teens who present themselves well on the large movie screen.

The idea with the film is fun and it is designed to give us an adrenaline pumping story. That is a major flaw, it is supposed to be a film based on an young adult novel.

The creatures in the maze are called "Grievers", they look really cool and amazing, but they also look like cyborg-like scorpions that bare a striking resemblance to the bugs in "Starship Troopers" and that is just crazy.

Another problem is the Grievers, we don't see much of them until one of them is killed in the second act of the film. This sequence becomes the drive to finish the story and that's all we get because we don't know a lot about and they attempt to play an important role in the film and this creates a major plot hole.

The one major problem that these young adult movies keep having is that in every teenage movie, there has to be an antagonist and this goes to Will Poulter as Gally and he plays the role like an idiot and he does not make me feel sympathy for him at all.

Why you put a stupid-ass character in the movie? That's just bad writing, but this is THE MAZE RUNNER , so, no hard feelings.

There are some cool scenes in the film. When Thomas goes into the maze after dark and is chased by the "Grievers", it's a cat and mouse sequence that keeps you going. The last sequence is when they try to get out of the maze and they attack in numbers and that is kinda cool.

The third act in the film is just stupid and typical, but also good. You can see what the ending is going to be and it is no exception. The sequence at the end makes no sense and you should see this to know what I am talking about and it involves one of the characters.

The ending is when they get out of the maze and they go into another maze. That is bullcrap! Is that supposed to set up a sequel because if it is, I'm paying to see it on DVD! The acting is good and bad, the supporting cast is out there and makes a lot of effort to put on good performances, but the only two that really shines out is Dylan O'Brien and Kaya Scodelario and they have great chemistry.

Overall, I enjoy THE MAZE RUNNER. I don't think it's a perfect film by far and it is not as good as Hunger Games, Twilight or Divergent, but it could have been a hell of a lot worse and I DO MEAN WORSE.

The film tells us a story that we already know, but it is amazingly well-directed and really fresh. Sure, it has it's major flaws, a stupid character and a very confusing ending setting up a sequel, titled "THE SCORCH TRIALS", for a September release this year and I can't wait, it is still watchable.

I give THE MAZE RUNNER a 6.5/10.

Hotel Rwanda (2004)
10/10
A very powerful and inspiring film.
18 May 2015
HOTEL RWANDA is an incredible movie at all costs.

The plot of the film is based on real life events in Rwanda during the spring of 1994, the film follows hotelier Paul Rusesabagina, who attempts to rescue his fellow citizens from the ravages of the Rwandan Genocide.

The film, which has been called an African "Schindler's List", documents PauL Rusesabagina's acts to save the lives of his family and more than a thousand other refugees, by granting them shelter in the besieged Hotel des Mille Collines. The film also explores genocide, political corruption and the reprecussion of violence.

The story is amazing and it scares me in a few scenes because this is a true story and some of it is painfully true in a few areas. The musical score by Andrea Guerra, Rupert Gregson-Williams and Afro Celt Sound System is spectacular and amazingly well-done.

The film has received universal acclaim and I think it deserved all of that praise for this film. This film has been on various critics Top 10 lists since it's release. I think the film is okay and they said it's an African version of the Steven Spielberg directed 1993 film, "Schindler's List", and the critics are not actually wrong about this film.

The acting is superb. Don Cheadle as Paul Rusesabagina is incredible and I thought he should have been nominated for an Oscar for Best Actor in the film, but he didn't get it. Sophie Okonedo as his wife in the film is okay. The rest of the cast is amazing in their performances, but Nick Nolte outshines the cast in his performance as the character he plays.

Overall, HOTEL RWANDA is a classic film that will be forever remembered by many critics and people around the world and I have no problem re-watching this film again. 10/10

Manhunter (1986)
8/10
Amazingly well-done
18 May 2015
Manhunter is the first film in the Hannibal Lecter movie franchise and it was directed by Michael Mann and it is also written by him based on the book by Thomas Harris, called Red Dragon.

The story of MANHUNTER is cool. Let me break it down for you: When asked to investigate a killer known as "The Tooth Fairy", FBI profiler Will Graham comes out of retirement to lend his talents to his case, but in doing so he must confront the specter of his past and meet with a jailed killer who nearly counted amongst the victims.

MANHUNTER focuses on the forensic work carried by the FBI to track down the killer and shows the long-term effects that cases like this have on Graham, highlighting the similarities between him and his quarry.

The film features heavily stylized use of color to convey this sense of duality and the nature of the characters' similarity has been explored in academic readings of the film.

MANHUNTER was the first film to introduce serial killer Hannibal Lecer, who would later appear in the 1991 critically-acclaimed film, The Silence of the Lambs, directed by Johnathan Demme, the Ridley Scott sequel, "Hannibal", released in 2001, the 2002 remake / re-imagining of "Manhunter", directed by Brett Ratner, "Red Dragon" and the black sheep, critically disappointing released in 2007, "Hannibal Rising", directed by Peter Webber.

The actors are amazing. William Peterson is great as Will Graham. Tom Noonan as Francis Dollarhyde / The Tooth Fairy is really dark in the role. Brian Cox plays Dr. Hannibal Lector and he is fantastic. Kim Griest, Dennis Farina, Joan Allen and Stephen Lang all do great jobs in their performances.

The music is really awesome and fantastic. The direction is amazing and the dialogue is really amazing and spectacular and I don't think it's not as as bad as critics said to be or made it out to be.

Overall, MANHUNTER has a few flaws, but the critics is amazing and fantastic and amazingly well-done and I could not have seen better.

8.9/10.

Good movie to be scared of!
18 May 2015
"The Silence of the Lambs" is the first movie that won an Academy Award for Best Picture to be widely considered as a horror film and the only the second such film to be nominated in the category, with the second film being "The Exorcist", released in 1973.

In the film, a young US FBI trainer named Clarice Starling, seeks the advice of the imprisoned Dr. Hannibal Lector to apprehend another serial killer, known only as Buffalo Bill, a.k.a. Jame Gumb, who murders young girls and takes their skin and uses it for something.

The acting is amazing and the cast is all top-notch: Oscar-winner Jodie Foster plays Clarice Starling and she is amazing. Oscar-winner Anthony Hopkins did a great job as Hannibal Lecter and boy, is he so amazing in that part. Ted Levine and Scott Glenn are amazing as well, but the rest of the cast is amazing as well.

This film is the reason why I put Hannibal Lecter on my Top 10 Favorite Horror Movie Killers list and I think this movie deserved all of the critical acclaim and praise and those five Academy Awards it was nominated for.

Clarice Starling and Hannibal Lecter appears on the AFI 100 Years: Heroes and Villains, Starling appears at #6 Hero and Lecter appears at #1 Villain.

The script, music and other production values are all good and amazing and I don't think a single person can hate this film.

THE SILENCE OF THE LAMBS gets a 10 out of 10.

Not as good as Frozen, but a great film overall!
15 May 2015
I saw INTO THE WOODS one day on DVD and I could have not been more impressed, but once it began, I was expecting one of the worst Disney musicals ever, reason I said this is because HIGH SCHOOL MUSICAL 2 was crap.

But after the film was over, I was impressed with what I saw. This film has a really good premise and it takes our characters from fairy tales into a whole new direction.

The songs were not as catchy as Frozen's songs were catchy, but they were enjoyable. The acting is okay. Anna Kendrick is amazing as Cinderella and I thought that she did a good. Chris Pine as the prince was amazing. Johnny Depp as the Wolf, creeped me out, but he is funny to watch in this film.

The real credit is also given to Merryl Streep as the Witch and boy, is she spectacular in this film and really fun to watch throughout the whole movie and I don't think no one could play her better.

THE DIRECTION IN THIS MOVIE IS JUST AMAZING and the director of Chicago deserves a lot of credit for this film. The musical score and lyrics are good because this is a musical based on Stephen Sondheim's work of the same name.

The costumes, editing, story, believability and everything else about this film works really well and I have no problem re-watching this again.

But, from a critical standpoint, it does fail to be as good as FROZEN was, but I can get pass the flaws that this movie has.

I give INTO THE WOODS an 8.6 out of 10, again, not as good as FROZEN, but a great film overall.

Toy Story 3 (2010)
10/10
The best TOY STORY yet!
15 May 2015
TOY STORY 3 was released after eleven years of waiting for a third TOY STORY film and negotiations with Disney and Pixar and this is the best TOY STORY yet! The plot focuses on the toys, Woody, Buzz Lightyear and their friends dealing with an uncertain future as their owner, Andy, prepares to leave for college.

TOY STORY 3 is better than the second "Toy Story" film and I think the film is just as good as the first two. The comedy in this film is really funny and hilarious and the story of the film is amazingly well written by Oscar writer Michael Arndt. This film was the first animated Disney film to gross over a billion dollars, until FROZEN did this in 2013.

Lotso is the only problem I have. He is way too dark and serious for this kind of movie, but they wanted a darker villain for the Pixar movies and I think the story is amazingly well-done once again.

The end of the film with Andy giving the toys to Bonnie was told perfectly and the scene with the toys almost being incinerated at the dump was sad and emotional for me, the music was really sad and I did not laugh, I just felt sorry for the characters during that whole sequence.

The acting, like the first two TOY STORY films is just top-notch and the returning cast members are amazingly perfect in their performances.

The new cast members are Ned Beatty, who does the voice of Lotso and he does a good job in the part of a bear who smells like strawberries AND is really evil. Michael Keaton plays the voice of Ken, Barbie's love interest and he was the right choice to play the part and he was amazing.

This film actually appears on my "Top 10 Best Disney Movies" and it is the best of the TOY STORY franchise. The other new cast members are Whoopi Goldberg as Stretch, Timothy Dalton as Mister Pricklepants and the rest of the new cast is just amazing in their performances as well.

I think the only character that I feared about was Slinky Dog. This was the character that Pixar and other fans of TOY STORY feared about.

The character was originally voiced by Jim Varney, who was suffering from cancer during production of TOY STORY 2, and died a few months after it's release and he was replaced by Blake Clark and he does a really good job in the part.

The music by David Newman is once again incredible and I do love the musical score for this film and the song he wrote for the end of the film, "We Belong Together" and that was good to hear during the ending titles.

There have been talks about another TOY STORY and it is going to happen and will be released in 2017. I can't wait for that.

Overall, TOY STORY 3 is the best of the TOY STORY films and I can't wait to see another one in 2017 and it will be fantastic and amazing and it is definitely the best TOY STORY film ever made! This film is also an ABSOLUTE SMASH HIT - 10/10!

Toy Story (1995)
10/10
A good start to Pixar's film studio
15 May 2015
TOY STORY was a classic film from the beginning and it still is today known for being the very first CGI feature film.

This was also the first film that was produced by Pixar Animation Studios and you already know the plot, so I don't have to explain it. The story is amazing and it took four creative screenwriters to write a good animated comedy film and it was just awesome to bring on screen.

Do I really want to talk about this film so much? No. The acting in the film is cool and I think Tom Hanks and Tim Allen did great jobs as Woody and Buzz Lightyear and there are other voice actors including Don Rickles, Wallace Shawn, John Ratzenberger, Annie Potts and Jim Varney as Slinky Dog and they all do great jobs in their performances.

The music by David Newman is really amazing and the Oscar song, "You Got a Friend in Me", has been known as the Toy Story film series' theme song and it is performed by David Newman. The editing and animation looks very amazing and so fantastic and spectacular that I can't stop watching this film.

The characters and setting is really amazing and just cool. The film is just really cool, from beginning to end and it is just fantastic.

So, overall, I love TOY STORY and everyone loves this film and this is a film that kids can grow up with. 10/10.

Toy Story 2 (1999)
10/10
Great sequel to the first TOY STORY!
15 May 2015
After the success of TOY STORY, Pixar would make a few more films and TOY STORY 2 was announced for a worldwide Thanksgiving release in 1999.

I did not know what TOY STORY was at the time, but as they say, a sequel means three things: 1:) a sequel that will be good as the first film, 2:) a sequel that will be good if not better than the first film or 3:) a sequel that is just gonna flat-out suck.

In the film, Woody is stolen by a toy collector named Al, prompting Buzz Lightyear and his friends to vow and rescue him.

However, Woody finds the idea of immortality in a museum tempting. Many of the original characters and voices from the first film returned for the sequel and several new characters, including Jesse, Barbie and Mrs. Potato Head were introduced.

The story of this film is interesting and I think the action in this film is really good. The screenplay is well written and the dialogue for all of the toys was really amazing and fantastic.

TOY STORY 2 has been considered by audiences and critics alike to be one of the few sequels that outshines the original and it continues to be featured frequently on lists of greatest animated films ever made.

I like the acting. Tom Hanks, Tim Allen and the rest of the returning cast members from the first film returns and they all do good if not better than they did in the first film. This film marked Jim Varney's last performance of his career as he died a few months after this film's release.

The new characters are amazing. Jodi Benson plays the voice of Barbie and she does amazing in this film. Joan Cusack does the voice of Jesse and she does an amazing job in her part that she plays. Kelsey Grammar plays the Prospector and he does a very good job in this film as he would in X-MEN 3: THE LAST STAND and TRANSFORMERS: AGE OF EXTINCTION. Estelle Harris does the voice of Mrs. Potato Head and she does an amazing job in her role.

The music by David Newman is once again amazing and cool. The score is just cool and yes, the TOY STORY theme song is amazing and really cool this time and once again sung by David Newman.

Overall, TOY STORY 2 is one sequel that outshines the original film and Pixar wrote a heck of a story that does better than the first film and that is one heck of an achievement. 10/10 - ABSOLUTE SMASH HIT!

Good start for the scary movie genre
13 May 2015
This is the first film is the one that started a series of sequels, including a 2009 reboot and a 2003 crossover with the popular "A Nightmare on Elm Street"and along with HALLOWEEN, helped create the slasher genre.

Friday THE 13th is interesting from the rest because there is a bit of a mystery as to who the killer is.

Of course, if you've seen the other films or any other horror movie including Halloween and A Nightmare on Elm Street, you may know about the killer.

Friday THE 13th is about a bunch of young camp counselors who are opening up Camp Crystal Lake after many serious incidents have taken place there over the years. The place kind of has a bad name so to speak. One by one, we see the counselors being stalked in the woods by someone or something.

Many of them are killed off leading up to a shocking and horrifying conclusion.

The first Jason Voorhees film is not as violent and disturbing as some of today's feature films and Jason films and feature films.

This films is a legendary film on it's own. It created the sub-genre of teens being stalked in the woods. Many other films were made after 1980 and with similar plots.

This film is a movie that I think needs to be watch every Halloween films. There are some genuine scares like when one girl goes to the out house/washroom and hears noises behind the shower curtains.

The acting is not bad. The gore and violence is well done by Tom Savini, the editing is cool, the music by Harry Manfredini and the theme is memorable as hell. Check this movie out before watching the reboot or it's sequels.

A great sequel! Worth the watch!
13 May 2015
Friday THE 13th : PART II is a definite sequel to the original 1984 film.

The plot is very similar to the first film, young camp counselors are setting the site getting ready for young campers when all of a sudden an unseen assailant starts picking them off one by one.

Eventually, we see the killer as a man wearing a potato sack over his head. The movie starts with the lead character from the first one getting killed in her apartment. It really sets the eerie tone for the whole movie.

There is no mystery to solve here with regards to the killer's identity. Jason Voorhees starts killing counselors after seeing his mother beheaded in the first film.

Amy Steel is the heroine in this sequel and her character Ginny is not one of my favorite Jason girls in the film series and Jason does not even where the hockey mask until the next film, which we will get to. PART II needed more scenes of violence and gore in this feature film and it doesn't do too much to scare the audiences.

The creepiest part for me was when Ginny and Paul got back to the camp after a night out and Jason was hiding in the darkness of the living room waiting to kill them all. I and all of the other people didn't know he was there until Ginny whispered that she thought there was someone in the room.

This is one of my favorite Jason movies and this is a must-see horror extravanganza for all horror fans and non-horror films and future filmmakers.

10/10.

Jason looks good in 3D
13 May 2015
Friday THE 13th - PART III continues with the story of Jason's killing spree throughout the area of Camp Crystal Lake.

Picking up right where the second one left off, Jason continues his slaughter at a small store where he murders the couple living there.

We soon meet a group of teenagers, led by Chris Higgins (played by Dana Kimmell), who are going out to the lake for some summer fun. Jason meanwhile is hiding out in the Higgins barn watching the teens every move. Eventually, some members of a biker gang decide to check out the barn when Jason strikes.

He also gets his infamous hockey mask in this sequel which has become a trademark for the horror movie genre. Many of the teenagers are murdered, and it's up to Chris to battle the evil madman.

This film was originally presented in 3-D back in 1982. I would have loved to see this movie in 3D, but I was born in 1998 and I did not know anything about movies when I was young, but now I do.

The hockey mask is why I put Jason Voorhees on my Top 10 Horror Movie Villains list and because of the way he kills his victims is just amazing. In the first and second Friday the 13th, he did not wear that hockey ask, but in the third film, he finally got the hockey mask.

Dana Kimmel is amazing and the rest of the actors are just amazing. The ending to this film is a little odd, but most of the time in Friday the 13th movies, the endings can be very confusing, but in scary movies, the killers' living eye must snap open.

If not, how can you make a sequel? A prequel? A interquel? Or a remake, reboot or a trilogy? If you want to keep the money flowing in, you have to keep the killer alive.

Overall, Friday THE 13th - PART III is awesome and I give it an 8 out of 10.

Jason X (2001)
6/10
Kind of bad, but watchable!
12 May 2015
JASON X is the tenth Jason Voorhees picture in his long-running Friday THE 13th franchise and it was released in April of 2001 and the film gets a lot of hatred. Paramount sold the franchise to New Line Cinema after JASON TAKES MANHATTAN and the film's concept is just really cool.

Not only I'll review this, but like the remake of Jason, Halloween and Freddy Krueger, I will defend this movie. The story for this film is that Jason gets frozen and no one discovers him until 2455. By this time, Earth no longer exists and everyone lives on a planet called Earth II. Jason gets brought to life by a group of students / teachers that went to Earth to explore the land or something and he starts killing people on board the ship.

A lot of critics and fans actually hated this one and says it is worse than "Jason Goes to Hell: The Final Friday", but actually, I don't mind this film at all because there are two Jason's, but they are played by the same guy.

The acting is dreadful in a few areas, but I can easily overlook that. Kane Hodder plays Jason and he does good with his screen time, although this would be his final appearance as Jason and he is alright. This is all sci-fi with a mix of horror. Jason Goes to Hell was bad, but I find myself watching it once in a while. But, this one is not as stupid or pointless as the other films, like critics and fans did take those films the wrong way. I loved what New Line did to this franchise and to see Paramount getting the franchise back for the 2016 remake, yes, they are remaking it again and that is really cool. Or it might be a sequel to the 2009 reboot, I don't know.

Parts 1-4 were really scary and intense, while 5-9 were also scary and much better than some of the pointless sequels in certain franchises and I can see why some of those get a lot of hatred.

Overall, JASON X is kind of bad, but in a good kind of way and this film is a guilty pleasure for me. I love the direction, acting, music, visuals, action and horror scenes in this film and Kane Hodder could have not done a better job. I wish I could give this a a 10 out of 10, but considering the flaws that I have with this film, I can't. So I'm giving this a 6.3 / 10.

A really cool Power Rangers movie!
12 May 2015
Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: The Movie is one of my 25 year-old sister's movies that she used to watch, so I thought I would review it.

Before the film was released, there was a television series, followed by another series of TV shows after this film and in 1995, Saban Entertainment and Twentieth Century Fox decided to team up and bring us the first POWER RANGERS movie, MIGHTY MORPHIN POWER RANGERS: THE MOVIE, an Americanized motion picture based on the Sental series.

While many says this film is a bomb, I think some people has also enjoyed this film and accepted it for what it is. I have heard that there is a reboot being made and released by Lionsgate for a 2016 release and I really want to see how it's going to do.

The six main actors playing our Power Rangers may not be great, but they could have been a heck of a lot worse, because they're playing heroes with superpowers, what is not to like about this film? The suits for the Power Rangers are made out of armor and I hope they are like that for the reboot of the film series.

I love the plot of the movie, too, and for them to go against Ivan Ooze was really cool and the ending climax of this movie was just fantastic and I watch the new POWER RANGERS show that is being shown on Nickelodeon and the new show is very amazing and fantastic.

The music and visuals are really great for a movie like this, as well as they were in 1995 and the production design was really amazing in this film.

Overall, I love MIGHTY MORPHIN POWER RANGERS: THE MOVIE and it is just simply a classic film. 8.9/10.
