The Interpreter (2005)
Long, boring, waste of a movie
I was really looking forward to seeing this movie when it came out. With Sydney Pollack directing and Nicole Kidman & Sean Penn as leads, I naturally assumed that it would be a fantastic thriller. Unfortunately, the movie doesn't live up to the hype, actors, or trailer.
Although Sean Penn and Nicole Kidman deliver A+ performances, the script doesn't live up to their full abilities. There are numerous plot holes throughout the movie, which really make it boring to watch. There are also far too many characters written in that have no impact whatsoever on the story; as far as I can tell, they are just there to make the movie more confusing (or maybe to cover up the plot holes!).
One of the biggest issues in this movie is continuity. It seems that many of Sydney Pollack's films have continuity problems; he just can't ever get it right! One scene that sticks out a lot is the first time Kidman and Penn's characters speak with each other. They are sitting across from each other, and every time the camera switches from Penn back to Kidman, her hair is in a different position. It is the most distracting continuity issue that I have ever seen in a movie! Aside from this one, there are many other continuity problems, most of which are listed in the "goofs" section of the IMDb profile.
This movie could've been so much better, if the writers wouldn't have made a draft-quality script the final version. I think that with some additional work, they could've had a solid story, with dynamic characters and a solid plot line.
This movie is not worth your time...check out Sean Penn's "The Assassination of Richard Nixon," "21 Grams," or "I Am Sam;" or Nicole Kidman's "Moulin Rouge!"

Passenger 57 (1992)
What a terrible film.
I passed Passenger 57 in the video store today, and was intrigued by the DVD cover. Unfortunately, the film doesn't live up to the expectations that I had. Although Wesley Snipes, an amazing action-flick star, plays the lead in this film, it lacks the entertaining qualities that his other films have. The action is minimal, the story is terrible, and the characters are flat. The main plot of this movie could've been written in a much better script; one that was enjoyable, and kept viewers on edge. Instead, Passenger 57 is a sad attempt at an action-thriller. I was not "on edge" at any time during this movie, which was very disappointing.
I would not recommend this film at all. The plot is boring, the characters are boring, and the action is boring! If you're looking for an exciting Snipes movie, watch any of the Blade series films, or The Art of War.
3/10.
Critical Mass (2001)
Worst Action Movie Ever Made!
This is by far the worst action movie I have ever seen! It was a waste of 1.5 hours! The storyline, cast, and actual acting in the movie is terrible. This movie could've been well-made, but unfortunately, the cast is not good enough to pull it off. What really irritated me was how unrealistic this movie was. For example, when the 2 main characters (Jeffers (Treat Williams) and Janine (Lori Loughlin)) are sneaking around the power plant, they're talking very loud, they're not trying to hide, nor are they even acting like they're nervous/afraid. The acting is so fake; this is also a major directing problem.
Overall, if you want to see the worst action movie ever made (or you have 1.5 hours to kill), watch this movie.
