A gripping quote from the film.
12 November 2023
The Purge: Anarchy (2014) - a gripping quote from the film: : We found your car Sergeant. Your plates told us who you were. It was easy to see where you were headed tonight. Hell, I would've done the same thing. The unwritten Purge rule: don't save lives. Tonight we take lives. We make things manageable. Unfortunately the citizens aren't killing enough. So we supplement it all to keep things balanced. It's important work the NFFA does and we can't have any interference. We can't have heroes... oh no sir... no heroes. I hope you feel cleansed. Blessed be America, a nation reborn." Personally, I'd rate this movie a solid 4 out of 5 stars.

Dark Ride (2006)
7/10
Just-Above-Mediocre
11 August 2018
Warning: Spoilers
Dark Ride is a horror/slasher movie from the After Dark Horrorfest collection. A group of college kids take a road trip and decide to stop at a small town amusement park for some fun. They want to go into the 'dark ride' for some scares and they break into the ride in the middle of the night. But it's not all fun and games when an escaped psychiatric patient starts killing them one by one. This story is not new or original, but it is not the worst slasher film I have seen. I think being trapped inside a scary ride with a killer on the loose is one of the most terrifying scenarios one could imagine. The props alone are creepy enough. The acting is a bit weak and some of the special effects could be improved upon, but for a low budget teen slasher it is what's expected. If you love this genre, then I think you will be entertained by this just-above-mediocre flick. I give it 7 stars. I hope this review was helpful. - MovieJuice

This a Very Funny Comedy!
11 August 2018
There are many bad ratings for Employee of the Month, but I beg to differ with them. Yes the plot here is very cliché and predictable, but it is how it is executed that makes this a very funny comedy. The characters are hilarious and are acted well. Perhaps the exception to this is Jessica Simpson; she just seemed too stiff and always looked like she was racking her brain for her next line. But let's face it; she is not in the movie for her acting skills wink wink. There is a great cast of comedic actors including, Dane Cook and Dax Shepard who play the main characters. They run the show with their witty and offbeat humor. The supporting cast only adds to the laughs, especially Andy Dick playing a nearly-blind optometrist. Just the way he looks in those glasses is enough to make you crack up! This type of comedy might not be for everyone as it is a bit on the raunchy side, but I found it enjoyable. Some of the scenes are over the top and a few are just downright ridiculous, but overall this is a laugh-inducing 5 star flick. I hope this review was helpful. -MovieJuice

Decent film with room for improvement
26 March 2018
Public Enemies is a crime drama based on the true story of the infamous bank robber of the 1930's, John Dillinger. Johnny Depp does an outstanding job playing the main character, but I don't feel that this is his best performance. Perhaps it is a lacking script that causes the unimpressive characterization. Christian Bale plays the FBI agent chasing Dillinger with fervor. His betrayal seems a bit dry and lackluster. The story is interesting and well paced, but there is slightly too much time put into the setup and not enough in the execution of the plot. The action sequences are quick and the machine gun shoot-outs are mind blowing. Overall, I left the theater feeling that this was a decent film with room for improvement. It is worth a watch, especially if you like the period portrayed. I give this movie 7 stars for a just-above mediocre production. I hope this review was helpful. -MovieJuice

College (2008)

College was a comedy that failed to bring any new funnies.

College was a comedy that failed to bring any new funnies. The story was only slightly different from the hundreds of other college frat party movies. All the cliché characters and scenarios are present and just make you feel like you are watching something you have seen before. That might not be so bad if they had added an original twist that brought some laughs, but they fail to make even a chuckle. The production of this film is just so-so and I give it a mere 5 stars. If you like this genre then check this out, but I'm warning you that you will probably be disappointed. I hope this review was helpful. -MovieJuice

Hoping for a little more out of Quarantine
26 March 2018
I was hoping for a little more out of Quarantine. The first half of the movie was a complete bore and I had to try to convince myself to keep watching in hopes that it would improve. I was glad I continued watching because it did get more intriguing. The story of the outbreak of a ravenous disease was nothing new, but being locked into an apartment building gave a new claustrophobic twist to the plot. And when all contact to the outside is cut off and the power is shut down, the chaotic pursuit of survival ensues. I won't give away any of the suspense, so check out this pretty decent horror flick for yourself. I give it 6 stars. I hope this review was helpful. -MovieJuice
