Spanglish (2004)
One of the worst movies I've ever seen. Bottom 5 all time.
Bottom 5 movies I've ever seen.
It is truly a waste of time.
From the obvious, awkward racism.
To the casual cheating and spousal abuse and disrespect.
To the narcissistic, elitist, savior undertones.
To the just flat out AWFUL pacing, dialogue, and story.
The movie has like nothing to enjoy it look forward to.
You think it's going somewhere. But then it doesn't. Then it does. Then it takes a few steps backwards.
Then it jumps five steps sideways and you're like wait what?
Also. The ending is terrible, terrible, terrible.
Like just strange and awkward and cringey repeatedly.
It made little to no sense.
It was also hard to find really anyone to cheer for.
Would for sure bro recommend at all.
The Pale Blue Eye (2022)
Ehh good I guess?
I mean. It's somewhat enjoyable.
It's paced slowly at times.
Sometimes hard to understand or follow along with exactly what the dialogue or what's going on in a few scenes.
But it's enjoyable.
Got pretty bored by the last 30 minutes.
Would venture to say that it was a great idea in theory that missed the mark in some pacing and "reveal moments".
The final reveal was cool and redeemed some of the movie for me as a whole.
Overall. Decent. Would probably never watch it again nor recommend it to many.
But this review is requiring it be 600 characters and it's tough to hit that so I'll throw in one final thing that it felt kinda nihilistic as a whole with bit much redemptive qualities. So I did not walk away from it "feeling great"
5/1.
Seven Pounds (2008)
Celebrates Suicide
Any movie or body of work that celebrates, encourages, or romanticizes suicide needs a clear trigger warning. And it needs to not be popularized for people to see as anything other than hurtful and not okay. In addition to the ridiculous ending, a generation that already clearly struggles with mental health could be negatively affected by grandiose, unhealthy gestures like this.
But also, the movie just wasn't that good. Burying the lead is different from stowing it in a cave miles underneath the surface never to see the light of day. It was paced awkwardly. And genuinely, acted awkwardly from Smith. Outside of my obvious strong dislike of the ending, I just think the movie wasn't well done. It was awkward and forceful with emotion. All culminating in a dangerous, unhealthy narrative and message.
Twin Peaks (1990)
One of the worst shows I've ever seen
This show was nearly unwatchable. When a chunk of the fan base encourages new viewers to skip whole sections of season 2 then you know there is an issue. I binge watched season 1 and the first 7 episodes of season 2. Read the synopsis for season 2 eps 8-20. Then watched the final two episodes. It's horrendous. It's not genius. It's not "innovative" and "groundbreaking". It's poorly acted. Written. Directed. And shot. The real mystery of this show to me is how anyone actually enjoyed it or say through all of it.
Half Brothers (2020)
Horrible movie
Movie tries to put emotions and justification behind a father abandoning his family. A BS film.
