A fun, exciting movie, worth watching!
4 June 2011
the fourth of the "Caribbean" films is as exciting and hilarious as were the previous three: Jack Sparrow is as charming and funny as always - Johnny Depp was truly made for this role!, the chasing, escaping and battle scenes in the weirdest places possible are as entertaining as in the previous films, the plot is exciting and the scenery is breathtaking.

The cast was changed right in time before the old heroes became boring, and Penelope Cruz does her part extremely well - she fits in perfectly! Balckbeard is wonderful for a new "bad guy" - a funny but scary character.

I usually don't like the 3D, but it was made well this time - almost the whole movie is 3D, unlike Tron, for example. It really adds to the atmosphere.

A Turkish James Bond
28 May 2011
"Valley of the Wolves- Palestine" is a reasonably well-made action movie, every good if we are to take into account that it is a Turkish production, and not a very expensive one.

The film is action-packed, and is very similar to American action movies with all the necessary ingredients, that is, one or more invincible good guys and one or more demon-like bad guys, who are, of course, very predictable and ask the bad guys just the right, predictable questions (why did you come to Israel?) to receive a well phrased, predictable answers (I didn't come to Israel, I came to Palestine.) the plot is not too realistic- with all due respect to the heroic Turkish commando, I doubt they could land in Israel unspotted, let alone slaughter half of the Israeli army. As for the Marmara scenes, having watched the actual videos of the incident, I can say that the film overdid it just a bit.

To sum it up, the film is pretty entertaining if you live somewhere on the North Pole , don't have a clue what's going on in the Middle East and not aware of the balance of powers of the main political entities in the film.

the Best Harry Potter movie so far
12 April 2011
the film is loyal to the book without being boring. It has the right atmosphere - very dark, much tension, but there are enough funny moments to change the mood in the right time. Visual effects are stunning as they should be, wouldn't expect anything less than that. as a huge H.P fan, I'd say the film is highly recommendable.

the decision to cut the film to two was smart, since the length of the book makes it impossible to make a movie that will be both loyal to the text and won't last a day or cut out important moments like in the fourth part (Goblet of Fire), which was truly a shame, as it's the most spectacular book of them all. The film ended just in the right moment to leave me with a taste for more!

Better than the book.
25 March 2011
Warning: Spoilers
This is one of these cases when the movie is better than the book. In my opinion, the book language is slightly shallow, but translated into a movie, the episodes that make the story look very lively and full of humor.

The decision to concentrate on the relationship between the brothers was original and smart, because it added an element of conflict that the book lacked and spiced it up a bit.

Unlike the book, the movie is worth watching for adults as well. It's not too sophisticated, but it doesn't have to be - it's light, humorous and fun.

a bit predictable
25 March 2011
Warning: Spoilers
The film wasn't that bad for an action movie, and the visual effects are satisfying, but as a science fiction film, there was nothing new in it. Too much touching music and heroic phrases, nothing surprising about the aliens.

The invasion "plan" looked good, but the actual contact with the aliens did not spark any curiosity as it should have, nor was it as scary as it should be.

In short, after so many science / horror fiction movies in the last 2 decades, I need more than that to excite me. Nonetheless, it's not the worst movie you can watch if you have nothing to do during the weekend.
