Feliz Natal (2008)
1/10
Selton Mello is a Brazilian Kevin Costner
19 July 2009
In Hollywood, it is very common actors to decide to turn directors. Some have success, others not. Perhaps the biggest reason this to happen is only for satisfying the proper ego of the artist, who longs for to start to have an intellectual status. The majority of these films directed for actors is without soul, honesty and completely pretentious. The biggest example of Hollywood is Kevin Costner, that tried to be a new John Wayne mixed Clint Eastwood and that, with rare rightness, did not give very certain. The known Brazilian case, but not only, is of the actor Selton Mello, with his false masterpiece " Feliz Natal".

The biggest problem of "Feliz Natal" it is exactly the pretension excess, that by the way was very celebrated by very critical, the reason nobody knows. Selton Mello makes an exercise of so poor, pretentious and previously style that the film pulls out innumerable yawns of the spectator. And the actor still cited influences of the Argentine Lucrecia Martel and the American John Cassavetes. Serious? Therefore this "son" of the two geniuses of the cinema it is more for Frankenstein.

"Feliz Natal" it still possess all the clichés of Brazilian films, since the construction of the personages until the angle used in the filming, and we go to agree that Selton Mello is far from being a Claudio Assis, for example.

Selton Mello very started badly the career of director in a boring workmanship that only serves to increase the ego of the proper author. It is a film without soul. I only hope that Selton Mello does not fall in the same end that the American actor Kevin Costner. By the way, it has a personage of "Celebrity" of Woody Allen that made me remember the reason of "Feliz Natal" to have been carried through.

The Proposal (I) (2009)

The best Bullock's comedy in years
14 July 2009
Warning: Spoilers
Sandra Bullock has excellent a charisma one, it made that it to reach the success with romantic comedies that always get for the light diversion of the spectator. In recent years, however, the actress only seemed to make mistakes, since " Two Weeks Notice" (2002) until the failure of " Miss Congeniality 2" (2005).

But with " The Proposal" , Bullock comes back the good form that the public one in such a way knows of its better successes of years 90. By the way, this film is the best since " Miss Congeniality" (2000). The tram is cute, obtains to amuse in almost all the duration, beyond not appealing a mood rude. It is truth that possess innumerable clichés, but all are worked in favor of the film.

Perhaps the only problem of the film is the proper personage Margaret Tate, therefore at the beginning of the tram, it seems a species of Miranda Priestly and later it comes back to be the typical personage of Sandra Bullock. This could have been worked in another way for the script, but nothing that the final result compromises in such a way.

The question is that it is very good for seeing that the Sandra Bullock is in return with its comedy and that it still obtains to entertain the public. I hope that the actress comes back the same with other productions in style and by the way, the success in the box offices is very deserved. In these times of turkeys like " Transformers 2" , " The Proposal" it is a good alternative to have fun.

Armageddon (1998)

I want to close my eyes, i want to fall sleep, cause I'm watching a Michael Bay movie and i don't wanna miss my time
5 July 2009
Exists worse some cinematographic experience of what to attend a film of the director Michael Bay? Serious, exist trams more mediocre, characters and lack complete of the minimum capable even though to entertain the spectator? Not! And the critical still says of Ed Wood and Uwe Boll.

" Armageddon" this is accurately everything: it is a film of Michael Bay. That is, it waits to leave the session with the ears aching, since the only thing that the film tries to supply the mediocrity is with the effect special. E is logical that it does not function.

Worse: the film is long, seems that never it goes to finish. And the cast? Bruce Willis and Ben Affleck are completely lost . Billy Bob Thornton and Liv Tyler seem to have shame of what they are making.

Anyway, between meteors that destroy world-wide metropolises and a cliché romance to the sound of Aerosmith, " Armageddon" and all the career of director Michael Bay shows what Hollywood has of worse: productions without content, with innumerable effect, everything to only gain money of the spectator. A shame!

It's a Michael Bay movie! Need i some more?
3 July 2009
Everybody already must have attended a film of Michael Bay, after all is all equal ones: lack of script or argument, explosions and total destruction capable to make any spectator to leave deaf person the session. But the films of Michael Bay go beyond: a vast amount of stereotypes, characters who say to prejudiced messages during all the exhibition, being clearly the male chauvinism of director in question.

This sequel of " Transformes" it is accurately this: one has filmed made donkey to take teenagers in the puberty to the theaters, with intention to only gain money. That's OK, entertainment is not a sin, but the entertainment of the films of Michael Bay is offensive to any person who has brain. It remains to know the reason for which the director Steven Spielberg accepted to enter in the project, since it makes films of much more deep entertainments of what Michael Bay.

At last, "Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen" it can until I came if to become the biggest box office of the year, but sincerely, i think the public wait more than a film that only has cars explosions, almost naked women and extra prejudiced jokes.

Came back, James Cameron!
3 July 2009
The director James Cameron created two classics of the fiction: " The Terminator" (1984) and "Terminator 2: Judgment Day" (1991) they are two deep films with a frightful and pessimistic vision of the future, beyond one original question raised on the time to pass in cyclical and not linear way.

However, when attending " Terminator Salvation" this forgets everything! After all of accounts, the script does not respect in nothing the original story, only the names John Connor, Kyle Reese and Skynet. The great quality of Cameron was to create a film of entertainment with deep messages. McG does not obtain this, it only created a film of explosions, that any director of Hollywood obtains to make. But also, what to wait of who it made "Charlie Angels"?

And if "Terminator 3: Rise Of Machine" (2003) already it was a great one confronts to the two classics of James Cameron, " Salvation" it goes beyond and it destroys all the concepts created in the last productions. Nothing if saved in this film, not even Christian Bale, in one of the worse performances of the career. And the worse one of everything is possible that they make a fifth film. Please, James Cameron, return! They are finishing with everything what you made!
