Too much hype, Too much of a let down
21 November 2009
Let me say, I was expecting that "Parnormal Activity" was going to be an awesome horror movie that really made you scared and really reminded you what fear feels like. This wasn't the case. Before this movie hit the theaters in my area, I was dying to see it because of all the hype it was getting. When it came to my theaters, I went out to see it with a few friends. Let me say, it really wasn't that good. I don't understand what people saw in this movie. What was so scary about it? What was so interesting about it? The scenes dragged many times, and most of the time, nothing really "scary" happens. Can someone say "OVERRATED"? I think this could win the award for most overrated movie of 2009. I hope the sequel isn't a let-down.

Don't waste your time seeing this.

An enjoyable holiday film, but not that great
21 November 2009
I have heard many comments about "A Christmas Carol" before seeing it. Many were mixed reviews. Some loved it, some liked it, some didn't like it, and some hated it. To me, I'm in that "mixed" category. Out of curiosity, I went to see "A Christmas Carol" in Real D 3D. I feel as if that "A Christmas Carol" was a fun holiday movie to get you in the spirit, but the movie wasn't that great. The voices by Jim Carrey and his jovial attitude at the end made this film fun, and so did his serious attitude when he played the mean side of Scrooge. To me, I think the 3D is what this film is all about. If I saw this in 2D, it probably wouldn't have been as much fun. I think that this film was a great way to help you get in the spirit of Christmas, but it wasn't really that great of a movie altogether. The script is at times dull, and at other times really fun. It really depends on the way you perceive it.

The 3D was great and it must be seen in theaters, because most likely the 3D won't work or look as good if it comes out in that format on Blu-Ray/DVD. The animation was marvelous and at times the characters looked real! This is a must-see in theaters especially for the 3D. Hurry! Go see it before it leaves theaters.

One of the BEST horror/comedy films I've ever seen in theaters!
27 July 2009
Okay, as I am writing this, I saw this movie over a month ago in theaters but never got to writing a review. This movie I saw in a COMPLETELY empty theater, no one in there but me. The movie from start to finish was thrilling and kept me at the edge of my seat. However, it did have me jumping out of my seat and screaming a few times! Christine Brown is a wonderful and well-acted out character played by Allsion Lohman. Allison portrayed Christine as a character that was smart, witty, funny, and courageous. I really got into her character. Justin Long plays Clay, Christine's boyfriend. His acting was very good and he is the "I can't believe it until I see it" type of person. Lorna Raver plays the scary Mrs. Ganush. Lorna Raver's character was well-acted and VERY frightening! This movie had so much suspense, great acting, awesome writing, a GREAT plot, and awesome jump scenes! The jump scenes were a little much, but they weren't weak like in "The Haunting in Connecticut" these made me jump and scream! If I didn't see this so late in the theaters I would have seen it again, but they took it out the day after. I will so be buying the DVD.

Orphan (2009)

"Orphan" is filled with adopted terror!
27 July 2009
Warning: Spoilers
Alright, the Summary title was a joke, if you have a problem with it, too bad. I went to see "Orphan" on the Saturday after it came out. The crowd was actually big, and they seemed to enjoy the movie as much as I did. Esther, played by Isabelle Fuhram did an amazing job playing Esther. She was dark, sinister, and evil! What more could you ask for in a child terror/horror movie? Vera Farmiga playing the mother, Kate, she was very convincing and her acting was on-spot excellent! She was so sympathetic, and me, along with the whole theater, when she slaps Esther, everyone clapped and/or cheered! The little girl Max, (don't know her name at the moment, sorry) was a very convincing actress and this was her first film! She was great! Every time she would even shake her head or give a reaction, everyone would "Awwww" because she was so adorable. Now, the twist was something I already knew before seeing this movie, which was a bummer, unfortunately. However, it did not ruin the movie at all for me because it kept me interested and kept me in suspense. Now, a few words about the people who are boycotting this movie: I understand that the movie sort of gives of a feeling that orphan's are evil little children, but this is a MOVIE! Stop whining. If you don't like it, it's not like you have to see it. This movie is still in theaters and will stay there! They are not going to stop production of this movie just because some people disagree with the concept. It's entertainment. Get over yourselves and complain about your own lives.

I give Orphan an 8.5/10 Awesome film.

One of the best of 2009.

A Good Movie, Underrated If You Read the Negative Reviews
16 June 2009
I guess I can say that most fans think this Friday the 13th "reboot" or "sequel" or whatever you want to call it, didn't like this installment. There are many factors I can put into why people wouldn't like this movie, and also parts they COULD'VE worked on more. There was a lot of sex/nudity to the point where it kind of go ridiculous. The writers and producers seemed to be real horn dogs for showing off tits and large breasts, while it kind of gave me a vibe that that's all they cared about mostly. Another thing is, they rushed Jason's storyline WAY too much. Only about 2 minutes are known in this film about his childhood, even his mother getting killed off right at the beginning. Then, there's the character development, which is a BIG BIG BIG role to get the audience to like/hate some characters. This movie lacked a lot in character development. I had a hard time keeping up with names because I never got to know the characters enough. Another thing is that they sort of spent on a lot is the "Texas Chainsaw Massacre" feel. It seemed like a TCM film with Jason's underground lair, and keeping people captive, which lead the film to give off a different vibe. However, I am really not a critic in movies, I, however tend to like them or hate them. Friday the 13th (2009) I liked, it was a good movie. I would love to see less nudity, more character development, and less of a Texas Chainsaw Massacre feel. Also, I think this film gets a lot of bad reviews, but I understand why it would. Many fans probably expected it to be more like the originals, but it was far from it, and that's what makes a lot of die-hard fans mad. But, it's a writers viewpoint, not yours, so you have to accept that. All in all it was a good movie and don't forget to buy the DVD and Blu-Ray on Tuesday, June 16, 2009!

An OK movie...MIGHT be better if you read the book
15 May 2009
Warning: Spoilers
I saw this movie at a midnight screening at a local theater late Thursday Night. I never read the book "Angels & Demons" or "The Da Vinci Code". I have to say, this movie was okay at best, but it might have been better if I read the books. The movie keeps your attention a little in the beginning, and in the middle. But in the end, it just drags on and on. You think that at one point it will end, but it doesn't. It just keeps going and going and going until it FINALLY stops. Maybe I was tired waiting for it to be over to go home? I don't know. But, the ending did kind of drag a bit. Sort of a let-down. However, I do give this movie a high rating, because it still is a good film and it makes you want to know what will happen. Will the Vatican be saved? Or will it be destroyed by light? Go see "Angels & Demons" if you want to find out! Tom Hanks plays a very good professor character that knows what's happening at every moment. Good acting, okay writing, okay movie.

7/10.

Club Dread (2004)
5/10
An okay film, not very watchable after the first time
4 April 2009
I've seen Broken Lizard's "Club Dread" back in 2004 and 2005 about 20 times. So, then, when I thought that this movie was pretty good, I decided to rent it on Netflix again. When I watched it again, I realized that it's not very watchable that much anymore. It sort of gets old. Even though I watched in 20 times before, it seems now that it lacks something. The kills are great and there is lots of blood, and great murder effects. I recommend watching this, I just don't know if you could watch it more than once or twice max. So, all in all, if you love gore and you really love horror films with cheap acting and fun characters, I recommend watching this.

A Good Film, but relies too much on one thing...
4 April 2009
Warning: Spoilers
I saw the documentary of this movie on Discovery a while back and that documentary was by far the scariest documentary ever. When I heard that this film was being made, I thought "Oh this should be good". So, I go see it in the theaters. Now, the film relies on one thing. The "Jump Scenes". Some scenes to make people jump were not necessary most of the time. Okay, a few jumps are okay once in a while, but a movie that does it all throughout, that is when it gets annoying. Don't get me wrong, the jumps were scary at times, and the movie itself was scary, but it seemed like it relied on that one thing. I think that it could of put more suspense rather than trying to make you jump and look stupid. All in all, this movie is pretty good. I would go to the theater to see other people jump if you go and there is a crowd. Other than that, I would rent it when it is released on DVD.

Slashers (2001 Video)
7/10
A fun Low-budget Horror film that is very underrated!
28 March 2009
Warning: Spoilers
A lot of people don't like Fangoria's "Slashers", but I do! This movie, based on a Extreme Japenese game show follows a bunch of teens and young adults who must go through a bunch of mazes to survive, and whoever survives wins millions of dollars. I thought this movie had so much potential if it had a higher budget and more filming time and more recognizable actors. I rented this movie back in July of 2007 at Hollywood Video and thought "Oh, a low-budget looking horror film", but I rented it anyway. When I began watching it, I knew it would be corny and cheesy and new right away it had a low budget. However, I was surprised it could pull off all the blood and gore. The sets built for this movie are really fun too. It is mostly contained of sand and little cabin-like boarded rooms for shelter...only for a little bit! And eventually gets false brick rooms and multi-colored clown rooms. This movie is a lot of fun to watch if you like the low-budget, cheesy storyline and acting films. It's a great watch. I recommend it about a 7/10.

P2 (2007)
8/10
A very suspenseful thriller!
21 March 2009
Warning: Spoilers
P2 delivers in a thrilling new way!

Workaholic Angela (Rachel Nichols) is heading home for the Christmas holiday. Once Angela has locked up for the holiday, she heads down into the work garage to her car. Once she realizes her car is not starting up, she heads back into the lobby area to call for a taxi. When the taxi arrives, she realizes she's locked in! So, she heads for the parking garage to see if she can exit through down there. Angela finds no luck. So, she find herself in a dark, little-lit, if any, parking garage. She then tries to find refuge in a little security office, where she meets Thomas (Wes Bentley) the overnight security guard of the building and parking garage. Thomas seems like a nice, sweet, lonely person looking for a girlfriend. So, Thomas then helps Angela get her car to start up, but it fails. Later, Angela finds herself strapped down in the security office by Thomas. Can Angela survive this nightmare? Or will she meet her fate? With a very strong climax, P2 is surely a strong recommendation!

Desperate Housewives (2004–2012)

Seasons 1-4 were great, but Season 5 is a major let-down
16 February 2009
I have been watching Desperate Housewives since the Season 2 premiere back in 2005. For years, I have been intrigued by the mysteries these writers leave off for us. I got a chance to watch Season 1 from Netflix. I have to say: Season 1 was the juiciest, Season 2 flubbed a bit, Season 3 picked up, and Season 4 got juicier, and Season 5 went complete sour. Season 5 leaves Susan so annoying and stupid and Katherine really boring. Also, it makes viewers want a main character to be killed off. And Tom is seriously psycho now. I think the writers have lost it and seriously should reconsider what they've done and try to make it better, not make it worse. The 5 year jump was not a very good idea and barley noticeable that they had jumped 5 years. Everything seems still the same as usual. I think a serious twist is need for DH to pick itself up again, and quickly!
