I don't know what the naysayers were expecting
13 April 2024
I was extremely entertained by this movie. For a remake of such a classic I thought it was pretty great. I mean how can you go wrong with ridiculously long and extreme bar fights? Jake did a great job and Connor mcgregor was a ridiculous character and it was very entertaining to watch him play a total psycho. It also took place in the florida keys so you had the added long boat chases. Boat fights, bar fights, brawls, fights actually filmed during UFC events and oh so much more. I liked the overall plot of the evil corrupt developers and the small business owner just trying to keep her bar alive. I thought it was a really good homage to the original.

This was a gem.

I knew Sandra Oh was in this and as a massive Sandra Oh fan I knew I would dig it. I really like Aqwafina as well. This movie was funny and sweet and really thoughtful. It's cool to see these original creations by these artists representing their culture and not just having the stereotypical characters typically associated with whatever's been put out for the last 20 years.

The sister relationship was relatable. Sometimes one is deemed the caretaker and one gets the fun filled life. It was heartwarming to see them come together and recognize each others sacrifices in their family as with most family relations it's not so black and white. I really enjoyed this flick! It was fun and deep and still lighthearted.

Snowfall: The Struggle (2023)
Season 6, Episode 10

One of the best endings to a series.
8 June 2023
Warning: Spoilers
So spring of 2023 had a lot of great shows ending. I don't think enough people talked about what a phenomenal ending this was to a show. I've seen a lot of great shows wrap up this spring and this has been the best one by far.

When a show ends even if it isn't the outcome we are hoping for it shouldn't negate it's impact. I've seen a lot of low ratings for this finale but come on people. Did we really expect things to work out for Franklin our anti hero? After everything that's happened did we expect him to run off and live happily ever after?

This ending is bleak and dark and full of despair. We watch Franklin destroyed by his greed and obsession. He had a few life lines here and there but he wanted it all and he wound up with nothing. Nothing. It was sad and heartbreaking but to have anything else would have been a Hollywood fairy tale. It would have taken away from the grit of the show.

In this situation Franklin wouldn't have been a winner. And that was the right call. Life isn't sugar and spice and everything nice. This ending was powerful and impactful and accurate to the real life events that occurred during this CIA war.

This is an ending that stayed with me. I had trouble falling asleep thinking about it.

It should also be mentioned that Damson Idris absolutely nailed this role. This man deserves all the awards. My breath was held throughout watching him descend into madness and despair. He was absolutely phenomenal and deserves any acting accolades out there.

Glad I didn't listen to the bad reviews
17 April 2023
I had been thinking about watching this saw the terrible reviews on imdb and held off. I decided to watch it today anyways and I was delightfully surprised.

It was very entertaining and fast paced. The costumes alone are worth watching the movie. Just impeccable.

It was a story about the power of friendship and not giving up on people even when all seems lost. It was a sweet story with your typical high school drama thrown in.

There is definitely a star studded cast but most of the screen time is devoted to the two protagonists. Kerry Washington and Charlize Theron also both play fantastic roles as the deans of their respective schools. It was a fun movie!

A perfect movie.
23 December 2022
I am biased as I grew up watching The Sound of Music since I was a kid during Christmas time. But its so sweet and lovely and the music fantastic and not annoying. Julie Andrews is amazing as Maria and Christopher Plummer as dashing and debonair as ever as the Captain VonTrapp. The kids are funny and mischievous as they at first try to run Maria out of her governess position only to be won over by the sound of music.

The cinematography is fantastic as it was back in the days of the pure art of making a movie and a Roger and Hammerstein story as well. This movie is the equivalent of drinking a warm cup of tea or a hot cup of chocolate during the cold winter days.

And its a phuck Nazi story as well which really wraps up its perfection. Simply a delightful movie all around.

Watched it for Lindsay stayed for the Xmas spirit.
12 November 2022
This was a fun and adorable lighthearted Christmas movie. Yes I mostly put it on to see Lindsay make her great comeback and I'm ready for her to be the new queen of Christmas. It put me into the holiday spirit. It's not a deep plot nor was I expecting it to be. Ignore the low ratings and sourpusses and enjoy the glory that is Lindsay Lohan making her comeback. The imagery is great with the backdrop of a snowy ski resort decked out with boughs of holy. It's not that serious so I'm flabbergasted by the super low reviews. I'm really not sure what those people were expecting but it's still a delightful movie to put you in the Christmas spirit.

Im so glad I stuck with it
16 July 2022
I was going to bail on this show after the first couple of episodes as it seemed disjointed and chaotic. I'm so glad I didn't. It is chaotic but it's also honest and sweet. It's about grief and redemption. The family that you have and the family you make. So much more than just people yelling at each other in a kitchen like a lot of these reviews seem to allude. The ending is part sad yet immensely hopeful. The soundtrack is fantastic. The acting impeccable. I found myself having a strong emotional reaction at the last episode. It was a fantastic first season and I'm so glad it's already been renewed for season 2.

Such a great movie.
2 June 2022
I watched this movie for the first time as a senior in high school when it came out and it's still so relevant to me now as a 37 year old. Fantastic performances from Steve Buscemi and Thora Birch. Encompassed the feelings of recognizing all the in what's expected of a person leaving high school and starting their life outside of college. It has a great amount of humor and amazing music and style. It's about non conformity and realizing your place in the world could very well be nowhere. It sounds bleak but it's brilliant. It's aged like a fine wine. Great early Scarlett Johansen role as well. And the late Brad Renfro.

Hard to watch but so poignant.
6 February 2022
This movie was incredible. It was a thorough analysis on rape culture and all the things that society deems acceptable. It is a revenge tale but done so well. The last half of the movie is disturbing but it's wrapped up so neatly and it was truly a satisfying conclusion despite the circumstances. The cinematography matched the subject matter. It was bleak and dark. Despite the subject matter it was very stylized. It's definitely a movie that stayed with me and the kind that makes you think about it in the middle of the night. Very solid twists towards the end.

Great looking but boring as hell
6 February 2022
I usually love guillermo movies but this was sooo slow. The story could have been wrapped up in an hour and a half but it goes on for an extra hour. Love all the actors in it but I wish movies like this can cut back on all the boring filler!!! I will say it looks great but was so slow paced and boring and once you get to the conclusion it's hardly satisfying.

Surprisingly funny
8 January 2022
I really enjoyed this. Happened to stumble upon it in keeping with a haunted house movie theme night. It was laugh out loud funny at times. You don't get too many female stoner slacker ghost buddy comedies. It's silly and fun and easy viewing. I dug it.

Don't get the low rating
12 June 2021
I thought this was a wonderful film. Yes it's improbable but it doesn't make it any less fun. It just came on Netflix and I finally got to watch it. It's funny, silly and sweet. I've never watched a Barbra Streisand directed film and now I want to watch all her films. Jeff Bridges's performance was great, Lauren Bacall was great and the movies conflict and conclusion was so satisfying. I absolutely loved it!!!!

I absolutely loved it.

I finally got around to watching and I thoroughly enjoyed it all the way through. So dark and Gambi and Russel are hilarious characters. The story is engaging and ridiculous. It feels like an 80s high school movie but with the signature Danny McBride ridiculousness.

Something to savor.
17 February 2021
This is a long movie but so worth it and so emotional. Such an epic follow up to Fight Club which is one of my all time David Fincher movies. This was beautiful and vintage and more considerate and it just makes me feel some sort of emotional way. It's so sweet and sad and doesn't feel as long as it is. Simply gorgeous with such a stellar cast.

Still have hot tears streaming down my face.
29 December 2020
This whole year and holiday season in particular has left me sad and desolate. This movie moved me so much and reflected so many of the sad and lost feelings I've felt throughout the year. It's so sweet and sad but also hopeful and powerful. I had an emotional reaction from the get go. What it did for me was to tell myself to take a break and take it easy and to enjoy the little things. Because at the end of the day they are the big things.

One of the most horrifying dramas I've seen.
7 December 2020
I've been curious to watch this movie since I knew Nic Cage won an Oscar for it. I'd put it up there with the same way I feel about Requiem For A Dream. Great movie but will never watch it again. It was sad and intense and melancholy. If you are a heavy drinker it will scare the hell out of you to picture this as your future. It's the kind of movie that sticks with you. I watched it a week ago for the first time and wish I had watched it in 1996 so I could talk about how messed up and brilliant it was with more people as now this movie is being lost in time. Simply haunting.

Such a great music appreciation movie.
1 December 2020
I'm baffled by the two star reviews. Don't listen to them if you love the epic adventures of Bill and Ted!!!! I've loved the Bill and Ted movies since I was a little kid and I'm in my late 30s now. Was very excited to see this and it met my expectations. It took me back to the time of feeling like rock music would save the world!!! It was heartwarming and sweet. I remember the days of picking up a guitar when I was a kid and the feel and exhilaration of creating music and this took me back to it. It was really delightful. A must if you're a rock music fan and even a remote fan of the Bill and Ted movies.

I've always been a massive Fresh Prince of Bel Air fan since I was 8 years old. This reunion was so sweet and heartwarming and pretty much everything I expected it to be the second I heard this was being released. I definitely cried my eyes out. Highly recommend.

Absolutely wonderful show
4 March 2019
I hesitated watching this show because of the dumb name but I am so glad I finally did. Such hilarious characters who seem far fetched but are very relatable. This show has so much humor and heart that one second I'm cracking up and the next I get a lump in my throat. So well written and delightful to watch. I hope it goes on for more seasons it's truly a gem.

Fist Fight (2017)

Don't listen to the haters.
22 August 2018
If you like Charlie Day and his style of comedy it comes through later in the movie. I thought this movie was hilarious. Half the people that comment on comedies on this website are expecting the English Patient or something. It's a comedy. It's fun and silly. The premise is two teachers who are going to get into a fist fight at the end of the day on the last day of school. The whole time there's this prank war going on that is slowly driving all the teachers to madness. Charlie Day and ice cube play rivals with Charlie Day being afraid to fight ice cube because he's crazy and temperamental. It's just a fun movie and it made me escape the current hell that is our reality. Would recommend.

Way better than I thought it would be
9 April 2016
Amy did a great job writing this don't listen to the stuck up reviews on here. I laughed, I cried, my heart was warmed. It made me want to watch her show which I never cared to do. Very relatable to single people navigating their way through stuff. Amy is assigned to write an article about sports even though she cares nothing about the subject. She meets a sports doctor who she strikes her first real monogamous relationship with. Despite all her excessive drinking and partying and his nice guy straight laced ways they spark a good start of a relationship. I was pleased to see Colin Quinn as an important character in this. Dave Attell has a cameo as well. It was nice to see comedians and sport super stars in the same film. John Cena was pretty hilarious as was Lebron. Quite the enjoyable flick.
