The Passion of the Christ (2004)
Worthless
This movie was a worthless remake. What's the point of this movie? We get to see the 185 times that Christ is beaten, punched or whipped. Let alone the 7 or so time that Christ is spit on. Why need just see Jesus of Nazareth or another such movie. How is any of this movie in the bible?
I grew up as a Catholic and went through the stations of the cross every year. This was rather a pale reflection of those experiences.
What the heck was Mel Gibson thinking? I think he should have just stayed with the Three Stooges or Mad Max.
How come a person like Mel Gibson gets delusions of grandeur that he can be a great director? He's great in Lethal Weapon, but the Patriot and Hamlet were among truly terrible films. Braveheart was good, but Man without a face was crappy.
Amen.
El tesoro de las cuatro coronas (1983)
Raiders of the Lost Ark Wanna Be
This movie is absolutely awful. As a kid of 8 years old, I saw this at the movies with my brother. I remember being bored during it then, but the idea of fantastic powers from crowns appealed to me.
I recently found it on Ebay and was excited to get it. Now, I look back on this movie as just trying to make a buck off of Raiders of the Lost Ark with the additional gimmick of 3D.
There is not character development. There isn't any point as to why the 3D effects have to happen. You can see all the strings used for the fireballs, darts, and the flying key.
I can just imagine the "creative team" thinking this movie up. "If one rolling ball was good for Indy, why not create 2 or 3 flaming rolling balls coming at the lead character."
This movie isn't even bad funny. To quote comic book guy, "worst movie ever."
Excalibur (1981)
Best Arthurian Movie
This is by far my favorite Arthurian movie.
Nicol Williamson is the quintessential Merlin. His voice will allows be associated with Merlin for me.
It's also fun to watch a young Helen Mirren, who is extremely sexy in this movie.
Also, watch for Gabriel Byrne and Liam Neeson. Their parts are small. Gabriel Byrne is one mean devious guy.
The music in the movie is horribly outdated, but just ignore it.
One driving theme is O Fortuna from Carmina Burana and it is absolutely haunting.
Pizza Runners (1996)
Excellent! It should be on DVD!
I saw this movie at the East Lansing Film Festival and I can't believe it's not on DVD. With companies like indie dvd out there, this should certainly be on dvd. I enjoyed the naked woman answering the door or even the evil Mike Raben stealing the pizza delivery's car. Jason Blum was hilarious as the magician and the amazing score he produced for the film. R. J. White should stick to the TV show "Channel Surfing" though.
I want this DVD!!!!!!!
