Blue Beetle (2023)

Better than you think!
17 August 2023
The marketing is letting this movie down! This film is so much more than just a origin story for a new superhero! This film has a lot of heart, with the directors love and care for this character being evident throughout the film! The character was introduced perfectly, and I hope it gets enough love to get a sequel because it deserves one! Also, so many touchy and difficult societal issues are brought up and tackled in respectful and nuanced ways. Their inclusion doesn't pull you out of the movie whatsoever! You aren't hit over the head with anything and these issues actually end up aiding the story and character greatly and give the film that much more of an emotional punch!

The acting was phanominal as well! All of the actors gave amazing performances and really were able to convey each of the characters emotions beautifully in every scene!

The action was by far the best part of the film! The camera angles and movements made you feel as if you were experiencing the fights irl! They were awesome!

The comedy was also fantastic and handled perfectly! I found myself laughing every other minute at some points because the jokes were just so good! George Lopez was AMAZING throughout the film and really brought life to every scene he was in! Perfect casting!!

Overall, I had a fun time with this movie and I highly recommend watching it!

Hauntingly beautiful
26 September 2022
This movie really takes you for a wild ride of emotions. One moment you are laughing, and the next you are stunned and horrified. The imagery of war and what it's true colors were is what I loved most about the film. It sucks you in with such a wholesome plot that quickly turns dark and somber. It's a film that everyone should see! Its brutally honest representation of the horrors of war and the beauty of friendship and human connection was done spectacularly. It's stunning cinematography and musical score just add to this movies enjoyment.

It isn't the best film and could be tweaked slightly in a few areas, but overall a truly enjoyable and memorable watch.

Highly recommend to any war buffs!

The Batman (2022)

I Underestimated Robert Pattinson...
8 March 2022
When the trailer fists came out over 3 years ago, I was super excited, but a little skeptical because I love the Christopher Nolen films and was worried this remake was gonna be too soon. But boy were my doughy wrong! I was blown out of the water by this film! It was gritty, dark, violent, and mysterious, I loved it! It had a very noir feel too it which gave it that extra bit of edge.

I loved that it was a film focused on Batman as he's just starting to come into his own, still trying to figure out who he is in the world. I also loved that this film took him back to his roots and made him a detective! And a quick shoutout to Zoe Cravats as Cat Woman, she did an amazing job!

Robert Pattinson as Batman was probably the biggest highlight and draw of this film. He was made for this role! He didn't do anything overboard and didn't do anything goofy or cartoonish, he played it straight and with power! I also loved that fact that he doesn't speak many lines, you can just see and feel the emotions and thoughts through his eyes! It truest was a mesmerizing performance.

Another quick shoutout to the other actors who appeared in this film, they all did outstanding jobs and put a fresh spin on these classic characters. And I have to say that the riddler was expertly casted, what a performance!!

If your having any doubts of fear it won't live up to expectations, ignore those feelings and go see the movie! It is a slow burn but it's worth it in the end!

It's a film that must be seen on the big screen!

The best THING I've ever seen!!!
8 March 2022
Wow! What a masterpiece! I've been wanting to watch this movie ever since I was small, and I finally got the chance to watch it! I'd say it was well worth the wait!!

John Carpenter really knows how to create a suspenseful, unnerving, and out write terrifying film! He's truly a master at his craft!

The performances are fantastic and the prosthetic work is outstanding! I don't think I will ever see better effects in a movie ever again! My jaw was on the floor because of how flawless they looked!

You are constantly sitting on the edge of your seat, wondering who has become a THING and who's still human. It's a thrill ride!! And the ending, AMAZING!!! It's ambiguity makes it all the more memorable and it sticks with you for a WHILE!

Truly a classic and should be seen by everyone at least once in their lifetime!!!

I'd give it 100000/10 if I could!!

Umberto D. (1952)
9/10
More than a story of a man and his dog
2 March 2022
Warning: Spoilers
This is Italian Neorealism at its finest! This is a beautiful film that explores so many different characters and their stories in subtle and poetic ways.their are many ways in which people can interpretation what the underlying theme and message of this film is because it's very loose and undefined. Personally, I view this film as a character study of how different people coup with loosing control of their lives either entirely or partially.

Let's first dissect the land lady character. She is a fascinating character study of how people change themselves to distance themselves from what their life once was when they had no control over their lives. It is implied by dialogue said by Mr. Umberto, that the landlady used to be a very nice and timid girl during the war, with Umberto saving her from death by feeing and protecting her. After the war ended though, he states that she went crazy and became a different person. During the war, she had no control over her life and the world around her, having to depend on others to live. After the war, her coupling mechanism for that trauma was to distance herself from that past and everything that was once apart of it. This included Mr. Umberto, the man who saved her life. She became obsessed with materialistic things, how she was socially perceived, and her social status. She took control of the aspects of her life that she could, becoming obsessed with money, which turned her into a Pimp of sorts. She let greed take over her life, leading to her cruel behavior toward Mr. Umberto.

For the maid character, she lost control of her life when she became unexpectedly pregnant. She coups with that by distracting herself with her work, and talking with Mr. Umberto.

Mr Umberto is in the thick of it, just now realizing he is loosing control of her life. At first, he coups by controlling how he gets money to pay his rent, and that's by selling his things. He begins to value certain aspects of his life, specifically ones he has control over. He begins to value his outward appearance by constantly dressing up to look professional, even when he's sick. He also values his pride, not wanting to become a begger on the streets. The thing I think he values most is his dog, with him being the only part of his old life that he has control over. All other apricots of how he used to live have been stripped from him. He no longer has a permanent living space, easy access to food and water, and money. He has been stripped away of everything he once had and was and has become a shell of himself. And by the end of the film, he reaches a breaking point and decided to not let these inconveniences ruin his life, he was now going to live his life the best he can with his dog.

It's a really beautiful and ambiguous ending that I think speaks volumes. Really great movie!

They tried... and failed epically
18 February 2022
Where do you even begin with this abomination of a film? I mean, bless their hearts for trying, but wow I guess they didn't try hard enough.

I think my ears, eyes, and soul were bleeding by the end of this film, especially after listening to the Wookiee kid squeal for 30 min or so!

I don't think I blame any of the actors in the film cause they were forced to be in it (you can tell with Harrison Ford), I think I blame the producers for rushing this project into reality. I feel that if George was given more time to write a holiday special, I think he would have produced some to info a little better than this.

The one part that was fantastic in this film was the animated sequence with Boba Fett! That was awesome!

Other than that, this film is just a meme essentially, but should still be viewed if your a Star Wars fan cause you just gotta at this point.

This was a painful, but fun experience at the same time.

The Action!!!
17 February 2022
This is why I love watching older movies!! The action feels and looks so real and it just blows me away!!! As I was watching this movie, my jaw was on the floor for most of it because I was just amazed at how awesome the action scenes and stunts were!!! Movies today could never compete!! And I tip my hat off to the stunt performers who risked their health for the perfect shot. And a special shout-out to the stunt man who tore his ligaments doing the "flipping" stunt. If you know, you know.

The pacing was perfect, the shots were breathtaking, and the action was immaculate. You truly have to see it to believe it, it's just that good!

If you loved Mad Max: Fury Road, you will love this movie!!

Long Live The Bee Gees!
8 February 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Wow, this documentary truly blew me away with how detailed, informative, touching, and beautifully it told the story of this legendary band! I have always been a fan of The Bee Gees, but only about 4 years ago did I really get into some of their older and more obscure work, and I'm so glad I did! I am a 2000's baby so I was not around during The Bee Gees hay days, but boy do I wish I was! This doc gave me the chills because of how amazing it was at telling the story of three brothers who just wanted to share their music with the world.

Throughout the doc, they play a lot of great Bee Gees songs that match up with the decade they are talking about and it just adds an extra umph to the entire experience of watching the film. I also loved that they interviewed other celebrities who love The Bee Gees because it just goes to show you how influential and impactful this band was/is to this day! I also am glad that they didn't just go use of their disco era, and talked about how broad their musical genre is. The Bee Gees don't fit into a single category of music, they are too talented and too musically diverse to do so! That's why it kills me when people call The Bee Gees music "disco music". That's not what should define them and I'm glad the documentary discusses this issue so thoroughly.

I would consider myself to be a mega fan of The Bee Gees because I practically know every song and listen to them regularly, but their were still some things in this doc which caught me off guard. I was surprised to learn about how some of the songs were written, how they went about writing their songs, and how many ups and downs they had as a band. I was unaware of how many times the band either broke up, stopped talking to one another, or had their career go into a lull. I was truly mesmerized by how much new information I gathered while watching this film!

I found myself smiling from cheek to cheek throughout almost the entirety of this doc because of how great the storytelling was, and I don't think I can praise it enough!

I think the part I loved the most about this film was the ending. The reason being is because of how emotionally impactful it was on me. I wasn't prepared in the slightest to get emotional, but the film pushed me there and I'm not upset about it. The ending of this film was phenomenal because of how beautifully it wrapped everything up. I was significantly impacted by how they talked about the deaths of Maurice, Robin, and Andy because the film did it in such a respectful and touching way. I found myself getting a all torn up over information that I was already aware of, but the film just made all the emotions come to the surface and re-expose them. I was especially heartbroken when Barry talked about how he's the only Gib left alive. Barry's pain and emotion can be felt through the screen, which made it challenging to watch him talk about being alone. All I wanted to do was hug him! Such a powerful scene done with such respect and beauty! Such an emotionally impactful and heart wrenching, yet beautiful ending. It effortlessly showed how much love the brothers truly felt for one another and how pure their bond was. And to quote one of their most popular songs, "love is such a beautiful thing", and what they had was beautiful. I'm honestly blown away by this film.

Their are some parts of their lives that I do wish they had talked about more or just talked about in general because I do think some great things were left out in the end. But that's my only complaint, otherwise I loved every second of this film!!!

The Bee Gees are such an amazing band, with their songs reaching new generations of fans because of how timeless their music is! The Bee Gees will forever be an integral part of our society's pop culture! LONG LIVE THE BEE GEES!!!

If you love The Bee Gees, I highly recommend giving this film a watch because it is truly a masterpiece!!!

Pure Garbage!!
8 February 2022
Warning: Spoilers
What an utter disgrace to such an amazing franchise/IP (mainly talking about T1 and T2). This film killed any chance this franchise might have had on reaching a younger audience, and that's a crime!! I was born in the early 2000s and I fell in love with the first two movies in middle school because of how well crafted and compelling the story's were! Both T1 and T2 are my favorite films of all time because of how well they have stood the test of time and how innovative they were at the time! And I've seen how this franchise has slowly been ruined over the years with a bunch of unnecessary and just bad sequels, but I didn't think the franchise was completely ruined until seeing this gosh awful film!! Now don't get me wrong, I'm not a huge fan of Terminator Genesis, but I was at least able to sit through that entire film without much effort. This film had me glancing at my phone to see the time, screaming in confusion and anger at the screen, and cringing in pain from just how bad the story, script, and acting was.

Now I am not trashing on Linda Hamilton or Arnold because they weren't half bad in the film (considering they were probably forced into this movie). In fact, I thought Linda Hamilton gave a great performance when she talked about forgetting John's face, that scene actually got me emotional. I'm mainly trashing on all the other actors, with some waaayyyy overdoing it which just made it painful to sit through.

I really, REALLY tried to give this film a chance but it was just too messy and disappointing.

What killed me the most about this film was the opening scene where John Conner was killed by the Terminator. WHO SIGNED OFF ON THIS DECISION???!!?? I have never been so furious with a film this quickly in my life! Who thought that killing off one of the most important and integral character in the film franchise was a good idea!??!? WHO!?!?? And I understand that they were trying to take this film in a new direction but COME ON!! They could have done this in soooo many different and BETTER ways that it just kills me! John Conner deserved better!

Another part of this film that just didn't really work for me was how political it got. I am not interested in politics and have primarily stayed out of it because of how stressed out it makes me. That's why it bothered me so much that they didn't even try to be subtle with the political messaging in the film. I wouldn't have minded if they approached certain hot issues with more subtlety and respect, but wow did they just go in at full force with it. I'm not saying I disagree with the messaging, I just wish they had done it in a better and more effective way.

I could rant about this movie for HOURS but this is good enough.

PLEASE DO NOT WATCH THIS FILM!! It tarnishes the reputation of the original films!!

It's a wast of time! The fans and general audiences deserved better than this garbage!!

I'd recommend watching the first two movies instead, you'll thank me later!

Enemy Mine (1985)

Simply beautiful!
7 February 2022
This is one of those forgotten gems that will forever stand the test of time! This story of two enemy's at war with one another, being forced to live and work together to survive has been put on screen hundreds of times, and this film did it perfectly! Such a powerful, moving, and thought provoking story with such brilliant commentary on an assortment of social and worldly issues that are still prevalent today.

This film explores, questions, and dissects issues such as war, slavery, racism, tolerance, and the human condition in such brilliant ways!

I have wanted to watch this since I saw it as a kid (early 2000s baby) and it lived up to and exceeded all my expectation! I'm so glad that I watched it and was able to fully comprehend its central message and themes because it truly blew me away!

It's not a fast paced, suspecncefull Sci-fi movie, but instead a movie that takes its time to explore the characters, their identities, and issues they face internally and externally in a beautiful manner.

I don't think I can praise this film enough, I was speechless at how touching this film was and how deeply effected I was by it.

This film should be shown in schools and seen by everyone at least once in their lives because it can teach us all a few important lessons.

This should be a cult classic and it makes me sad that it isn't!

Truly an amazing film!!!!

Why?
2 February 2022
Why was this made? No seriously, who signed off on everything and thought this would be a good movie?

It started off with some potential and promise, but then it threw it all away and turned into a movie written by a 2 year old.

The twist was dumb, most of the characters were dumb, and the call backs to the original show were just bad!

This movie was pointless and just crapped on the legacy of the original show.

If they had actually put effort into crating a legit horror movie, then maybe this movie wouldn't be half bad, but they waisted their opportunity.

Don't waist ur time watching this, its just pure garbage that was trying to make a quick buck.

I chuckled
3 January 2022
It was an alright way to say goodbye to the second worst year in a row, but I felt weird watching it. I did chuckle at a few parts, but other parts just made me feel uncomfortable and kinda caused me to panic just remembering how this year started/went. I don't think it was bad and I kinda liked how they made light of some of the darker moments that happened this year, but i still felt wired laughing at certain things. I will say that I loved all the actors they "interviewed" and think a few of them made some really great jokes. I'm not sure I'd watch this again, but it certainly wasn't the worst thing I watched this year.

If your in need of a recap of this year wish some jokes thrown in, then give it a watch, otherwise it's not necessary.

A perfect madhouse!
3 January 2022
I'm speechless! This film is fantastic and defied all my expectations! For being born nearly 40 years after this movie was released, It's safe to say this movie has stood the test of time! It's commentary on society, religion, race, and government are all still relevant and hot topics today. I loved how it exposes the silliness of certain aspects of our own society and almost pokes fun at it. I won't say what it is but it's brilliant and done with subtlety.

This was a fascinating watch and really would be a great film to show in schools because it could teach kids a lot about our society and how it's still flawed.

I can't express enough how blown away I was by this movie! Even though I knew what the ending was, I still found myself feeling shocked by it because of how amazing of a performance Charleston Heston gave. In fact, his performance was compelling throughout the entire film! I loved every second!

And a quick shout out to all the stunt work and the sets built. The stunt work looked and felt real and like it hurt (probably because it did), and the sets looked like they fit perfectly into the world, futuristic and primitive at the same time.

This is a Sci-fi classic and everyone should watch this at least once in their lives! It's amazing!

An explosively fun drama!
1 January 2022
I wasn't really expecting to like this film because I though it was going to be just another cheesy and over dramatic disaster movie, but I was proven wrong. I throughly enjoyed this movie and was honestly on the edge of my seat during certain scenes.

The characters were done pretty well and didn't feel all that poorly written/executed. There were some scenes that were funky or weird, but they didn't really harm the film much overall.

My favorite aspect about this film is the fact that most of the effects were done practically! I love to see movies use real props, destroy real sets, and interact with real environments! It makes everything that happens in the film feel real and emerges the audience into the film! I loved how Pierce Brosnan really did the stunt of being picked up by a helicopter dangling from a rope, and being flown over a real mountain! AWSOME!! I HATE how much newer movies rely on blue screens, CGI, and motion capture stuff because it just makes the movies feel fake and done lazily. I think this movie greatly benefited from using real props, sets, and effects. The lava was CG and didn't look great but everything else did!

The director being a geologist prior to directing this really showed in the film because you can tell he really put a lot of time and care into getting many of the geological aspects correct in this film!

It's not the best movie, it has its flaws, but I think it's a fun watch! Recommend to anyone who's a disaster movie buff!

Emotionally wrecked by a giant robot!
1 January 2022
Warning: Spoilers
I'm one of those few people who didn't grow up watching this movie because my parents told me it was too sad to watch. As a child, I never questioned them nor went out of my way to watch it because I didn't enjoy sad movies, but boy do I wish I did! This movie was phenomenal on all levels! I'm In my 20s now and I'm glad but disappointed it took me so long to experience this film. I'm glad I saw it at this age because I was able to better understand and grasp the films underlying message and subtleties in its theme. But I'm also disappointed it took me so long because I missed out on this amazing movie for most of my life which feels like a crime!

The way in which this film also deals with and discusses death was done so beautifully and with such simplicity that both children and adults can learn from it.

I've never been so blow away by an animated movie and how powerful and moving its main message is! I was also amazed at how great the animation itself looked because when it was made, 2D animation wasn't the big thing anymore, but it was the perfect fit for this film. The 2D animation gave it an old-time feel which greatly helped in making the audience feel like they were truly watching a film from the 50s. I also think that the 2D and CG animation was combined seamlessly and done well.

I have to quickly give a shout out to the voice acting done in this film, because these actors were amazing! Especially the kids voice in the movie had so much emotion, playfulness, and innocence, it moved me to tears!

I never thought I'd ever cry over a robot after watching the Terminator, but this movie changed that. The iron giant had barely any lines, and yet the character felt so human and real! And I NEVER thought I'd cry from one word being said, let alone that word being Superman!

Even though it took me a while to see this film, I'm so glad I finally did and think that everyone should see this at least once in their life! Truly an amazing film!

Words can't describe it's perfection!
30 December 2021
This has to be one of the most amazing films I will ever see in my life! I don't say that lightly, but when I saw this movie for the first time in film class, I walked out that theater a changed person! I've never been so lost for words at how brilliantly a movie was shot! Hitchcock is one of my absolute favorite directors and this is yet another one of his films that just hit the nail right on its head!! It is filmed as if it was done in one long shot, and it's mesmerizing to watch!

One scene in particular involved a swinging door and some well timed choreographed movements which created the most tense atmosphere I've ever felt while watching a scene!

This movie is an underrated and undiscovered gem by many, and that's just baffling to me! Everyone should watch his masterpiece at least once in their life because of how truly spectacular it is!

It's a crime thriller/drama that keeps you right on the edge of your seat from start to finish!

If I could rate it higher than a 10 I would!

The Lion King (2019)
1/10
Worst live action remake to date!!
29 December 2021
I honestly love John Favreau (the director) and I think he's done some amazing films in the past, but this movie just was so wrong in so many ways. One positive I do have for this film is that it was visually breathtaking and extremely realistic which I thought was visually appeasing. I also enjoyed some of the casting like Eric Andrea, Billy Eichner, and the amazing James Earl Jones. Other than that, I don't really have anything more to positively say about this film. I love movies and I believe in giving every movie a chance, even when it gets bad reviews, but this movie was one of the many few I couldn't finish. I became bored out of my MIND after only 15 min of runtime. I'm honestly glad I waited to watch this on Disney plus because I would have fallen asleep In theaters.

There are a multitude of problems with this movie, but I'm only going to list the ones that truly bug me the most. The fist problem is the voice acting. I'm about to get controversial but I think they really messed up with the casting here. Donald Glover is an amazing actor and has been in some amazing films and TV shows, but his voice just wasn't fit for voice acting. Same goes for Beyoncé, and I'm saying this as a huge fan of hers. I enjoy seeing her pop up in films and I think she can really deliver a good performance when given the right material. I just think these two actors were put into these roles without much consideration for sheathed or not they would be fit to voice acting.

I've tried to voice act in the past and I understand how difficult and strenuous voice acting can be to master. It takes a lot of skill and practice to bring an animated character to life by just using your voice. I don't think these actors understood this because I've never let so bored listening to two characters talk to one another. Their performances felt dry and flat, with zero emotion being felt through their voices. I'm sure they gave this their all, but it didn't translate to the screen. Unfortunately, it dragged this whole film down for me.

Also, Chiwetel Ejiofor as scar was probably the biggest let down of the entire movie because you can't replace someone as vocally talented as Jeremy Irons. Chiwetel dose his best with the songs, but everything just felt so wrong and just didn't sound right in the end. I think the biggest crime was how messy the song "Be Prepared" ended up sounding. He is an amazingly talented actor and has been in Oscar nominated and winning films, but I don't think this was the best role for him. His voice just didn't bring the power and gravitas to scars character.

Another issue I have with this film is that it is almost too realistic. All the visual emotion was taken out because it wouldn't look "realistic". I felt like I was watching cardboard cut outs being moved around the screen for an hour. The one thing that was great about the original Lion King was that you knew what each character was feeling by looking at their facial expression, or by hearing their voice. The animation allowed for the audience to connect with the characters emotionally, but this with film, we were robbed of that.

One last issue I have was the pacing of the film. Like I said before, I've never been so bored in my life watching characters interact with one another, let alone fight one another. It just felt too long and drawn out for how little we were given in the end.

Overall, one of the biggest movie upsets of 2019 and I hope that Disney gives up sooner or later on adapting their old/ classic animated films into live action once's. They should stop while they still have the chance to semi-save their reputation.

Don't watch if you don't want your childhood ruined.

I've never been so emotionally moved by a short before, but this one got my eyes all misty. This was an amazingly simple, yet powerful short that conveyed so much emotion without a single word, and nearly everyone can relate to this shorts central message. Truly one of Disney's best!

This movie just brings me so much joy and reminds me of happy memories! It was a tradition in my family to always watch it whenever all the grandkids went over to my grandmothers house, so I've probably seen it a million times, and I love it! As I've got older, I see it's flaws, but I honestly could care less! I love the movie and the feeling it gives me each time I watch it! Personally, I feel it's a cult classic because it's very much an underrated gem!

Give it a chance and you might just find yourself having fun!

One of the best marvel movies I've seen in a while!
17 December 2021
I've been a marvel fan since the first iron man came out, and have loved (mostly) every marvel movie that has followed. The way these movies are able to capture the audiences hearts, minds, and imagination is truly astonishing, and this movie does just that and so much more!

It was everything the marvel fans needed and so so sooooo much more!! Stunning character development, solid plot, and great fun from start to finish. No character felt neglected, with each one getting a substantial amount of screen time and character development. I've never been so invested in a film before, but I honestly never felt bored or looked down at my phone to check the time. It really captures ur attention with great action scenes and fun surprises throughout! I don't think I've ever cried so many tears of joy in a film before!

The only thing I can say about this film is that it is truly a perfect film in every way. Trust me when I say that marvel redeemed themselves with this movie!

10/10 stars, and would watch this 1,000 times more! Highly recommend giving this a watch! Also, if u can/ are able too, go watch this in theaters because it's truly an experience u don't want to miss out on!

Form the animation style, to the songs, to the voice acting, it is truly an amazing film. It's probably my favorite Disney movie to date because of how fun and engaging it is. You could tell that everyone working on this film had a good time and put in 100% of their time and effort. It doesn't bother me that it isn't factually correct because it's just a kids movie, not a historical epic.

This is truly a great film that will entertain you from start to finish. Highly recommend!
