Hard to watch
17 July 2021
It's hard to watch Meryl Streep overdoing it. Not her best role. But Liev Schrieber is superb. He makes the movie credible.

George Clooney playing George Clooney yet again
17 July 2021
The more I watch George Clooney in the last few years, the less I want to watch George Clooney. The self- important, unimpressive swagger is just getting old. There's nothing original or entertaining about this all star vehicle, not even the music. It sounds like an attempt at a modern film trying to simulate a classic war picture, but falls flat as an old movie poster. One dimensional characters and bland dialogue make this a boring, waste of time. I hate Cate Blanchett's horrible french accent almost as much as her fake southern accent.

Predictable romance
16 May 2021
First of all the two younger actors playing the parts look nothing like the main characters. The young Dawson looks older than James Marsden, which is terribly distracting. The plot is so predictable, it's just stupid.

Dramatic Sea Adventure

How could I have missed such a superbly written, acted and filmed masterpiece as this? I am so glad I was finally able to enjoy this adventure. Cumberbatch is extraordinary.

Boring
14 April 2021
Am I missing something? I think this is poorly written, childish and overdramatized. The dialogue is cliche, and it's like the whole thing is trying so hard to be original, but falls horribly flat. Like Jk Rowling's Harry Potter, Gaiman has stolen imagery and characters from other classics. In a nutshell it's boring and outdated.

Just ok
11 April 2021
I remember seeing this when it first came out. I was about 20. Even then, I thought the william hurt character was flat and the accent was terrible. His accent is so inconsistent that it's hard to determine whether it's an English accent or what , but it's certainly not Russian. I thought the movie had a good story line , so it gets 6 stars.

Very predictable
9 April 2021
This could have been good , but the writing is bland and the acting is flat and lacks believability. I don't think the actors have much to work with. It seems like they're all wading through mud with their performances. It's obvious from the first 10 minutes of the film who will die in the end, like a Made for TV movie.

Witty and funny

I thought the cast was delightful, especially Sigourney Weaver. This is for girls that wanna have fun without all the baggage and routine of most romcoms. And the costumes are cool.

Cold light of stupid

The worst thing about this movie is how far fetched it is. Trained marksmen can't hit a target 10 feet in front of them. Please. Bland with a hot chick thrown in for good measure. Bruce willis being the same boring tough guy.

Just OK.

This is a familiar story about two people from different generations , both with a sense of entitlement. Both feel sorry for themselves and both take it out on each other. Each one having their own little pity party. They find something to bond over, in this case mutual loss, then help each other to face that loss and move on without self destructing. It's a case of misery loves company and finally seeing the futility of making themselves miserable. Oh, if it was only that easy to cope with loss.

What this film tries, but fails to convey is that life is a series of losses and overcoming that loss is what inevitably, brings maturity.

Hello, my name is Frank, delightful!

This movie covers a lot of important issues and it does it with humor, sensitivity and honesty. I have only one complaint. I lived in Eastern Washington. Although there are lots of red necks in Eastern Washington, I have never heard of any snake handling sect of Bible thumping crazies. That's not a very accurate stereotype. It would have been more realistic to go with some other religious fanatics, there's plenty to chose from in that area. Still, it was well worth watching.
