House of Gucci (2021)
Well... I didn't hate it...
"House of Gucci" is the new film by director Ridley Scott, a director who is highly acclaimed for films like Blade Runner, Alien or Thelma & Louise. The critics have been quite unfavorable, having a 59% on metacritic, but in my opinion, it was not THAT bad.
This is a very difficult film to rate, because it's the type of movie that you hate or you love. The movie tells the story of the Gucci family, that founded the famous Gucci brand, and the killing of one of its most important members, Maurizio Gucci, portrayed by Adam Driver. And I'll start talking about the performances.
Adam Driver does a really good job portraying an ambitious, a bit cold and obsessed with the power man, it's not one of his most brilliant performances, but it is really fine. Then Lady Gaga, I must say she didn't convince me for a great part of the movie. I thought she was a little bit exaggerated, and I didn't connect with her character. Towards the ending, her acting becomes really great, but for the most part of the movie, she wasn't so good for me. Jeremy Irons and Al Pacino are both excellent, the first doesn't last much in the movie, but his acting is enough. And Pacino is Pacino, his acting is really great. And finally, Jared Leto. I didn't like his performance, he's a really great actor, but his performance as Paolo Gucci felt really, really overreacted for me.
In the technical aspect, everything was really great. Cinematography, costume design, production and all those aspects are really well done. I think the screenplay has some troubles with the passing, sometimes the movie is extremely frenetic, and then it falls and gets really slow, suddenly. But in general, all those aspects are fine. Also, the music choices and the soundtrack are all awesome, maybe my favorite part of the movie were the songs and how it felt during some moments, so it was a really great aspect.
In conclusion, "House of Gucci" is a funny film, very entertaining, with a very interesting and suspenseful story, with some great performances, but that feels a little bit wasted, having some scenes that doesn't add anything to the plot, and that didn't really felt like a movie about Gucci.
7/10.
tick, tick...BOOM! (2021)
A very good movie
I watched this movie with high expectations, expecting a movie with great musical numbers, but what convinced me the most was Andrew Garfield, hands down.
Tick, tick ... BOOM! Is a film that chronicles the life of Jonathan Larson, an aspiring songwriter in the midst of creating his first musical called Superbia. We watch him struggle to try to put a special touch on his musical, all the while feeling overwhelmed by being in his late 30s and not having made his Broadway debut yet. This is a very snappy movie, the pacing is fast most of the time, and the musical numbers are just incredible. Lin-Manuel Miranda managed to give a personal and unique stamp to each musical number, which makes each one of them feel alive.
Let's talk about the performances. Andrew Garfield does a magnificent job that could easily be the best of his career. He is someone quirky, funny, energetic, which makes you fall in love with him immediately. Alexandra Shipp and Vanessa Hudgens both did a great job, considering that their roles are somewhat condensed. But without a doubt, I must applaud Robin de Jesus, because his performance was excellent as Jonathan Larson's friend, who tests HIV positive.
And with the latter in mind, this is a very moving movie, with difficult moments in which our characters will face various difficulties. The ending was very fitting for the story, only mentioning that Larson sadly passed away before seeing his musical "Rent" on Broadway.
In conclusion: tick, tick ... BOOM! It's a very good movie, which is a strong contender for the Oscars, especially Andrew Garfield.

The Sopranos: College (1999)
College (S1 E5)
"College" is a very different episode to what the series has proposed to us, but that does not make it a bad episode.
This is a very important episode and at the same time very different. It may seem pointless for the plot and just be a filler episode, but it is not. It is important because it brings us closer to Tony, and lets us see his fatherly side by taking Meadow to see some schools. It is an important episode not for Tony's relationship with business and the mob, but with his relationship with his daughter and how he has to deal with the question of "Are you in the mob?"
It clearly lets us see that Tony can't have a nice, quiet student trip with his daughter without mob problems intervening, when he discovers a snitch from several years ago whom he is forced to murder.
And that does, in the end Tony brutally hangs the man in a rather crude scene, which is a reflection that his criminal life will always be stained with blood and will be violent, and that he will always be present even in his family moments.
In conclusion, "College" is a great episode that really unfolds Tony's criminal and family conflict.
10/10.
The Sopranos: Meadowlands (1999)
Meadowlands (S1 E4)
"Meadowlands" continues the hot streak of episodes from the first season, being even better than "Denial, Anger, Acceptance".
It really is a very interesting episode. First of all, we get to see a little more of A. J.'s school life. And his different fights with the boys from school, ending in A. J. winning a fight without even fighting.
Tony's hallucinations increase when he looks at his peers in Dr. Melfi's office and also Tony's sadness to know that Jackie has passed away because of his fight against cancer (something that sincerely saddened me because I really liked the character). Chris's fear also increases when he discovers the bloody scene of the crime of his friend Brendan, who has been shot in the eye.
But without a doubt the best thing about the episode was the moment when A. J. discovers that his father is in the mafia. That scene at Jackie's funeral really lets us see that A. J. he has begun to notice everything his father is involved in, thanks to Meadow who also told him about it previously.
In conclusion, Meadowlands is one of the best episodes of the entire series which has crucial moments in the development of the characters.
10/10.
The Sopranos: Denial, Anger, Acceptance (1999)
Denial, Anger, Acceptance (S1 E3)
"Denial, Anger, Acceptance" is one of the best episodes of the first season. This is an explanatory episode, through which we know much more about Junior, Tony's uncle. Chris and Brendan disrespect him at one point, and they get their just due, Chris getting beaten up and Brendan getting killed.
The plot with the Jews is also interesting. The episode shows us how attached they are to their religion, and that they would be able to lay down their lives for it. Something interesting to see a humble family devoted to their religion have business with a violent and bloody mafia.
The plot of Meadow and the speed also shows us the pressure of a teenager for school and also how easy it is for them to get that type of drugs.
In conclusion, this is a crucial episode in the development of the series that shows us in a very good way how dangerous it can be to deal with the mafia.
10/10.
The Sopranos: 46 Long (1999)
46 Long (S1 E2)
"46 Long" is the second episode of the first season of The Sopranos. He does a great job developing the conflicts previously established in the previous episode much better. It focuses a little more on other characters like Chris or Brendan, with whom Tony is not entirely happy.
Again, it is not one of the best episodes of the series by far, but the truth is that it is an episode with a better development of the actions of the characters.
The only "but" that I put, is that sometimes the plot deviates a lot from the main plot in other not very important plots, as is the case of the car of the professor of A. J.
In conclusion, it is a pretty solid episode that lets us know more about the main and minor characters in the story.
8/10.
The Sopranos: Pilot (1999)
Pilot
A great start to an excellent series. "Pilot" is the first episode of The Sopranos, and it shows us Tony, our protagonist, dealing with a panic attack. It is honestly not one of the best episodes of the series, but it is compelling enough for the viewer to continue watching.
The writing is snappy and fast at times, the performances are quite good and compelling, and it lays the foundation for what is to come in the development of the remaining 85 chapters.
In conclusion: "Pilot" is a great first episode that lets us know the characters and their environment.
9/10.
The Truman Show (1998)
Good afternoon, good evening and good night!
I first saw "The Truman Show" when I was a kid, waiting for another Jim Carrey funny movie, but it wasn't, and it was boring for me. How wrong I was! I saw this movie recently again, and it just blew my mind.
I first want to talk about Jim Carrey. I like his comedy movies but I don't consider them excellent ones. And watching him on this role was very surprising, because he does an excellent performance. I also want to say that Ed Harris is amazing too. After watching the movie, I thought about it for a couple of time, and I noted how well done it was.
The movie has a lot of religious connotations like Christof being a kind of "God" for that fake qorld, or even the name Truman, which can be translated as "True Man" something really interesting. About the technical aspects, everything was great. Cinematography, all the sets, the screenwriting and the simbolisms. I really think this might be my favorite Jim Carrey movie, ans i just loved it.
In my conclusion, "The Truman Show is one of the best movies of the 90s, and it is a really deep and dark film that analyzes the nature of a human being and the consumism of a TV program based on a man who lives deceived.
There Will Be Blood (2007)
Excellent movie!
My 2nd favorite Paul Thomas Anderson's movie (just behind Magnolia). Daniel Day-Lewis is awesome in his performance and Paul Dano too! The cinematography is amazing, and the story is slow, but a slow movie isn't a bad one, and this movie is the clear example of it!
A masterpiece.
Nomadland (2020)
Just okay...
This is a good movie and I liked it, but I don't really think this one deserves the Best picture Oscar. I mean, 2019, Parasite, 2018, Green Book, 2017, The Shape Of Water. Nomadland is good and that's all. I really think Trial Of the Chicago 7 ns Mank deserves the Oscar more than this one. Anyways, it is a good one, just a good one.
Mank (2020)
Fincher at his best!
I really think that Mank is The best movie in 2020 and I don't really think that it deserves just a 7,6 here.
From The technic aspect I'm fascinated. The mood of The 30's and 40's in this movie is absolutely amazing.
I love Citizen Kane and I knew Mank had some troubles with Welles, but here I realize The troubles were very strong.
The performances are I-N-C-R-E-D-I-B-L-E! Gary Oldman as always does an excellent and gorgeous performance.
I don't like Amanda Seyfried in any movie, but here she really does an amazing job.
And let's pass to The story. As Citizen Kane does, it travels through The present and The pass in flashbacks. I love how well tell this story is, and I love The fact that in every flashback they put The scene heading From a script.
And finally, Shelley's dead scene hurted a lot of you ask me.
In conclusion, this is another Fincher's masterpiece!
The Godfather Part II (1974)
The best movie of the cinema history.
The Godfather Part II is just way better than the one. Look, I'm not saying that The Godfather is bad, for me is a masterpiece. But The Godfather Part II is the best of the three, and for me, the best movie in the cinema history.
Al Pacino does his best performance next to Scarface.
What I really liked of this movie, is that it can Be consider like a precuel and a sequel at the same time.
I mean, we see what happened after the things of The Godfather, how Michael is now the new godfather. And at the same time, we see the origins of the imperium made by Vito, his beginings.
And my favorite Part of the movie was that one, the Vito's Part. Just the mood, cinematography, performances and the interesting things of that time.
In conclusion, for me, The Godfather Part II is the best movie in cinema history.
10/10
Drive (2011)
Amazing movie!
Drive became in one of my favorite movies of all time.
First, Ryan Gosling. I liked his performance very much, is calmed but when the moment is tense, he becomes in a very violent and brutal dude.
Second, the cinematography. It is amazing how the colors are an important fact in the story.
Third, the mood. I felt this movie like a kind of modern Taxi Driver, I mean, the lonely protagonist, the dirty mood of the City, that pretty blonde girl that the protagonist likes and that bloody final.
And Fourth, the final. Oh God, I cried so much in that final scene. He lost everything, he has a deathly injury in his stomach and the girl that he liked is very far of him. I interpretate that he died at the end, but it just break my heart when you can see him tearing down.
10/10
Deadpool (2016)
Hilarious!
At the begining I hated this movie because because I'm not fan of the superheroes, but when I saw it, I liked it so much.
The humor is very well done, especially in the "Where's Francis?" scene.
The Wade's experiments are terrific and very crude, I liked it, because the movie knows how Be serious in that moments.
I liked Colossus, and Negasonic Teenage the longest name of the World.
The violence is incredible, you really hesitate of you're watching a movie with Marvel's origins.
Anyway, I liked the Francis' death too. Very funny.
9/10
A Clockwork Orange (1971)
I'm singing in the rain!
A Clockwork Orange is awesome. This is one of my favorite movies, and not so much right, I watched it when I was 13 years old. But screw it, this is a very interesting movie.
When Alex is hit by his old friends, you can see the hate they got to Alex, and it is very bizarre. Like this movie.
10/10
Full Metal Jacket (1987)
Very underrated film.
Full Metal Jacket is one of the best war movies ever made. Kubrick give us a most crude and depressive side of the war, with no United States propagand. First, Hartman is incredible, his performance is awesome and sometimes funny like in the scene: "Here is my rifle, here is my gun".
When I think about Pyle, I feel sadness. He was good and innocent, but that night with the soaps Really broked him. The change is notable, you can see in his eyes that he's not good mentally, and all of this ends with Hartman's death and Pyle's suicide, scene that Really surprised me, in a sad way.
The second half of the movie is pure war, shoots, injuries, explosions, everything is awesome. Personally, one of my favorite shots in movie history is the final shot, with the soldiers walking through the fire.
Incredible movie.
10/10
Apocalypse Now (1979)
The horror...
Apocalypse Now is one of the best movies I've ever seen in my life. First, the film editing is magnificent, if you're asking, I'm talking about the redux version. The characters are incredibly well writed, Willard is one of the most iconic character in cinema's history. Then, the story is very original, yeah it's a war movie, but it is only a secundary thing. The mix of the war genre and the tribu/cult genre is just fantastic, is weird, but it really works.
A recomendation, please watch the redux version, think is a little bit better than the original one. Yeah, it's about 3 hours, but you can see very important scenes which are not in the original, like the playboy bonnies scene or the dinner with the french plantation. Marlon Brando is wonderful, he has like 15 or 20 minutes on the screen, but that minutes are enough to watch the incredible performance, and the film editing of his killing, it's chilling and intense.
In summary, for me, Apocalypse Now is the best war movie ever made, and one of the best movies ever made too.
10/10
Casino (1995)
My favorite movie!
Casino is my favorite movie of all time and I think that it is the best Martin Scorsese movie.
The Robert De Niro's performance is just wonderful and it's one of his best.
Pesci is Pesci, his performance is one of the best performances of the 90's, that rage and violence just watching the desert scene or the vice scene.
Sharon Stone should've son the Oscar. I know Susan Sarandon had a great performance, it's very good, but Sharon got free the rage and slurs of a bad woman, just looking the scene where she goes to De Niro's house and fights with him.
Casino is pure Scorsese, in 178 minutes it can catch you for all the long of the movie. The story is wonderful, the final of the characters is incredible too. Ginger dying for drugs, Nicky dying brutally in that cornfield next to his brother and Sam, living with those experience.
Just the best 👏👏
The Godfather Part III (1990)
Not so bad as people say!!!
This movie is the worst of the three, but it still is a very good movie, better than some 90's movies in my opinion.
The romance through Mary and Vincent is maybe the worst thing of the movie (the Sofia Coppola's performance too) but the rest of the movie is pure gangster and italian mood. The final 40 minutes are wonderful and the final, is the best final the trilogy can had.
That's my opinion. 10/10
The Godfather (1972)
Masterpiece
The best movie in the history in my opinion. Is great, emocional and with excellent performances of Marlon Brando and Al Pacino. The final is epic too.
Once Upon a Time in... Hollywood (2019)
Hollywood, 1969
An incredible film, with great performances and a very good screenplay.
The final, when Brandy and Cliff kill the hippies, is one of the best climax in a movie, last years.
PD: The change of the history make that I remember Inglorious Basterds!
Uncut Gems (2019)
Awesome!
My second favourite movie of 2019 (The Irishman is my favorite) Adam Sandler is incredible in this movie and the climax is very Shocking.
Gisaengchung (2019)
Fantastic!
Bong Joon Hoo is at his best! The peach scene is a masterpiece of 21st Century... And the final, god, is epic and godamn sad!
To All the Boys: P.S. I Still Love You (2020)
Oh no...
I don't like romantic comedies... Well... T here's exceptions (Crazy, Stupid Love) but this is not a good movie or a romantic comedy. Is just a piece of trash to the girl's that are 13/14 years old. Sincerelly disgusting!
Catch Me If You Can (2002)
Simply astonishing!
Steven Spielberg is a very expert of Films... And this movie demostrate that!
